  • Other Info Danny had just been adopted from a rescue and escaped from his new home. He is VERY nervous (but gentle!) and will not approach people. May approach other dogs as he is dog-friendly. DO NOT CHASE HIM OR TRY TO FIND HIM - he is spooked by strangers and we are concerned that he is moving away from the area into dangerous roads and railway lines. We are working with local landowners to catch him. IF YOU SEE HIM please inform us so we can track his movements. Also please put up posters in the surrounding ar

Please note the change in details - DO NOT CHASE HIM OR GO OUT TRYING TO FIND HIM as he seems to be moving away from the area trying to get away from strangers. He really won't come to you at all, even if you have food.

If you see him, please call us and register it so we can track his whereabouts. We are working with local landowners to secure him. Putting up posters would be much appreciated - thank you everyone!Last edited: 2013-01-21 14:03:14 by Bath Cats & Dogs Home

Hoping today is the day you are brave enough to come to someone and be reunited Danny. Positive thoughts and lots of love xx

we put up two posters at the other end of the village from where he went missing and another at westbury leigh - it would be good to know where he was last seen exactly and maybe we could walk out that way and extend postering area? We've got lurchers of our own-really hope he is found soon.

Thanks so much to everyone who's keeping an eye out for Danny, it's really appreciated and great to know that he's stayed in the area. He is very nervous of people he doesn't know so we're slightly worried he's going to get spooked and venture further away so if you're local and see him best to stay still and see if he comes to you, he does like other dogs. Thanks again for everyone's help and really useful advice, we're so grateful. Fingers crossed for some good news soon.

I went out and had a walk round the fields today but no joy though my friend sent me a text saying another friend had seen it near to where he came from (19th jan ) so thats at least something I have also spread the word as bumped into a lady off on a walk fingers crossed he is home safe soon but at least he is not very far away and has been seen today

I hope there is good news today. Our lovely rescue Lurcher went missing on 5 November, was out for 4days in snow, frost and floods. He is home safe now. Just want to share what we were advised which seemed good advice. He may be getting food from bins, perhaps from back of the pub? And seeking shelter in farm buildings. It's amazing just how far they will travel. Getting hold of a map of the farms and fields etc from Rural England from a farmer really helped plot our sightings and coordinate the search and distribution of leaflets. Follow up on any sightings of a dog alone, don't rely on people's knowledge of what type of dog, ours was described as tri coloured collie and even a hyena! Check your dog insurance, the Cats and Dogs home cover him on Pet Plan for a month.... That may cover the printing of posters and flyers.... We got 200 A4 and 400A5 on bright yellow from DigiPrint in Trowbridge..... Laminate large ones, put On lamp posts, dog walks, stiles, footpaths, pub and in car whereever parked. That's how we got our best reports of accurate sightings.. Also insurance may cover a reward which might bring more support...sad but true. By now he could probably do with a tasty meal, so where you have seen him , try leaving some food, or even better set up a camping stove and cook up some really smelly food....sausages, sardines, bacon, the smell may then lure him in. You may already know all of this, but thought we would share, just in case. Best of luck, will keep watching and spreading the word.

come on Danny boy, be safe tonight and tucked up somewhere warm. Make sure everyone puts posters in their cars to spread the word....... Good luck, we're all thinking of you x

Thank you everyone - I haven't heard any news this morning. His owner and friends had seen him going in a circuit around the village and fields yesterday, but with the weather he may well be hiding out in a barn or garage for cover. Please let us know if you sight him.Last edited: 2013-01-21 13:18:53 by Bath Cats & Dogs Home

I hope this lovely timid dog is found soon, I go into the area so will be on the look-out for him. I have printed off the details and will give to as many people as I can in the area

Hi there. My name is Jane. Sorry to hear Danny is missing:( having recently lost but thankfully found my dog I empathise strongly. The thing that worked for us was getting everyone involved putting up posters around the village especially dog walking areas. I have forwarded this link to two friends who live in Dilton Marsh. If you would like some more support please call me 01225 519710.

The lovely lady on fb who sighted a dog matching this description says, "As u turn in to petticoat lane off the main road it was stood on the corner of the first left turning which I thought he was waitin for someone. Then I glanced up and he walked down to the main road but then seconds later he came running back up in to petticoat lane and carried on up the lane then when I went out in my car seconds after I couldn't see him and just presumed he lived in a neighbouring house. Hope he is found soon he looked so lovely"

I've shared this on fb and someone has come back saying that they saw a dog matching his description approx. 3-3.30pm in petticoat lane around near to the junction opposite the spar - have asked for more info e.g. if it was with anyone etc and will update here if there is. Fingers crossed this boy is home safe soon x

UPDATE: He has been sighted this morning close by which is great, but did run away at the sight of people. So we are going to try a dog trap - therefore please don't go to the area looking for him as it may spook him further away. Thank you!
