There is a white SBT on the Wirral website -http://www.wirral.gov.uk/wirraldogs/Detail.asp?DogsID=2249. I don't think it is her as she looks different and the found one has white dots on head and Rio doesn't look like she does but you never know..... Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

What a shame - Rio is such a pretty girl. As mentioned before, check to see if the RSPCA centre has ccvt (would be very suprised if they don't), and check for any names and address left by potential rehomers that day. Along with 'Doglover' - I really have no time for the RSPCA at all. They are more politically motivated than animal care motivated, and having had numerous experiences trying to get them out to birds, horses and dogs in the past, I wouldn't go to them again for help under any circumstances. Good luck with the search. xxxLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

I know this maybe a long shot and I don't want to get hopes up too high, yesterday a white female sbt with a few small black patches on her back ended up following my son home from school. We tried to find any signs of an owner but to no avail, the dog had a choke chain and no id. Please call Rotherham police station who will put you through to Maltby police station where the dog was taken to at 5pm last night. As a volunteer with a dog rescue, I urge all owners to have their pets micro-chipped we see far too many lost dogs in our rescue - please don't make yours one of them. www.rotherham-animals-in-need.co.ukLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Check the RSPCA centre doesn't have a 'signing in' book for visitors viewing the animals each day. Our local one does and you have to give a name and car registration number. Also ask if there is anyone from the bolton area who has expressed an interest in adopting a SBT (again, some keep lists for people waiting for particular breeds). Many potential adoptees can get quite impatient waiting for the right dog and may have seen this as a way to cheat the system. Good luck. Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Yes the Kennels were approached by the police who had contact details for the man-on being interviewed he said he had given the dog to a family from Bolton-he was told the man was a surveyor.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

I presume that the owners have checked with the RSPCA that someone did go there with this dog. I can believe that they would not take the dog as the local one here told me they do not accept strays when I went there looking for local dogs missing. However surely the RSPCA could have directed this person to somewhere that does or maybe they did and the person could not be bothered to go there. Anyway I wish the owners luck in tracing Rio and good luck to the Bolton helpers.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

I can't believe this - well, actually I can - unfortunately. I hope Rio is soon home. Is there any way to trace back this story for the owner to get more details. Could Nik get this in the Bolton newspapers - maybe that would find the people who had her. This is all accepting that the story told to the owners is true - where a staffy is concerned I have my doubts! - ValLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Come home soon Rio, i dont rate the RSPCA through an incident years ago that i was involved with, it involved a dying cat that they couldn't be bothered with. Hope she has been taken in by a nice couple that will see that she is a much loved pet and return her home where she belongs really soon.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

How Awful! How comes the RSPCA do not accept stray dogs? Thats as bad as our "you cannot report a crime @ a police station" The world is a very strange place! I hope Rio is home soon! Jake 21.10.05 xxLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18
