How heartbreaking for all concerned..so very sorry to read this...
Sonia
Oh no! Pauline! (((((Hugs))))) I just heard! I sat here reading this with tears running down my face. I am so very very sorry for your loss. Your dedication and hard work, in bringing him home, showed just how much you loved him, and how lucky he was to have come into your lives. I am so happy that you were all together at the end, and he knew you were there for him. I know it bought him great comfort and reassurance, and peaceful knowledge that his search for his family was finally over. I am truly sorry to hear about what happened to him, but in time, I hope you and your family can all take comfort from the fact that, he slipped away knowing just how loved he was, surrounded by those who he treasured most, and in the arms of one he held dear. He was a beautiful little dog, who touched an awful lot of lives during his amazing adventures, and certainly restored my faith in human kindness.
Sleep easy little Kai. @>-'-,-'--
Peace, love, and my deepest condolences to you and your family.

I'm very sorry to report that our darling Kai died on his way to the vet this evening at midnight after having been hit by a car in Hampton. He was almost home!
We had a tip off that he'd been spotted in Hampton so we dashed to the Priory Road where he had been seen. On the way there we bumped into a friend who had also spotted him and had followed him down the road trying to tempt him with food, but he ran off and was hit by a car shortly afterwards. We got to the scene quickly and dashed him to an emergency vet in Hersham, but his breathing was heavy and laboured and he died in my husband's arms seconds before arriving at the vet.He had internal injuries so it was extremely doubtful that he could have been saved. Our huge gratitude to everyone who searched for him,and cared enough to give up their spare time to do this.We were overwhelmed by the support and efforts people went to to bring Kai home to us. We are at least consoled by the fact that we were able to say our goodbyes to him before he passed away and that he did not die alone.WE LOVE YOU KAI xxLast edited: 2012-10-15 19:14:41 by Pauline

The Facebook Groups, Feltham Arena Residents Group, Feltham Arena Runners, Feltham Residents Association, and the Feltham, Hanworth, and Bedfont Appreciation Society - too, have been updated with additional sightings today! They are as follows: "Tina Lee: he could be on the oriel estate" ..... "Pam Brant: Saw him earlier around the football pitches behind Rectory Meadows while I was walking the dogs and I saw him Mum and told he because she had had a sighting around The Hollands and was searching around the area. He certainly seems to be covering quite a bit of ground bless him. I really hope that they get him home soon." ..... Sharon Gibson and I have been checking back here and updating the Facebook groups, as this page is updated. Sharon is going to spread the word to her Runner groups too. And I plan to get out in the area tomorrow and see if I spot him too. I am sure Kai will be back with you soon! Keep searching! I have high hopes for your little lad! :)

If your husband is camping out is it worth him having a barbeque to try and entice your beautiful boy with the smell
Pauline
Thanks for that.I have been putting posters up as have my friends and neighbours.Today we've had loads of sightings - around Hanworth Air Park, along the Uxbridge Road and all the way almost to Carlisle school! (which is actually nearer our home direction), but having followed the trail all afternoon, it has now gone cold. I'm guessing he's hiding out somewhere for a rest having covered such a great distance. My husband is camping out at Crane Park hoping he returns there.I'll go around Hampton Common I think to see if he's made it to there. Just heard he was spotted on the Uxbridge road nr Lady Elenor Holles School which ties in to other phone calls. What a dog!
PaulaK
The weather may have put him off popping out so much yesterday Pauline, or he may have just found somewhere snug and had a good snooze. Keep up the search, put posters everywhere, hope you get more sightings today and he keeps off the roads x
Pauline
hardly any sightings today. he was spotted at 7am on the Staines road near the Shell garage and the junction of Hospital Bridge Road/Sith Cross road. At 9am He was seen in that area again near The Fountain pub. We did search the area including the golf course nearby, but to no avail.Have searched all his 'usual' haunts, including Crane Park again, but no news. Please keep looking, he must be so tired and hungry by now .Thank you to all the volunteer searchers too.
Pauline
Spotted this evening (9pm)on the Hounslow road towards Hanworth apparently searching for food. Also on Hampton Road West and Uxbridge Road.
Pauline
I actually saw him from a distance this afternoon around 3pm in Crane Park but couldn't get his attention and he ran off into the woods. I didn't see him there again. At around 4.30 he was seen around Hanworth Park and later we had sightings in Swift road, Elmwood avenue, Hanworth Park towards Hanworth and finally walking along Browells Lane Feltham. People have been so kind searching for him and we are so grateful, hopefully someone will catch him soon :)
PaulaK
Have alerted MJ and her dogwalkers that may cover some of this area. Also put on FB and will keep eyes open
Pauline
He was spotted again in and around Crane park this morning. We have put up some posters in the local area. The local newspaper is running a story on kai which I believe will come out at the end of the week.Any sightings please get in touch! Thank you very much for the response so far.
Lorraine
Pauline, I've emailed you some scenting advice x
Pauline
There were sightings of Kai in Crane Park this evening around 6pm - many people caught sight of him and tried to catch him but he was frightened and too quick! We were so close to him,(though we didn't see him) just a few mins from being reunited.Unfortunately he was so scared he ran out of the park and across the road - some say he was headed towards Feltham, others said Hanworth near the old library. Spent several hours searching to no avail. Some posters have been put up in the area and more will be posted tomorrow. Please keep looking and reporting any sightings, your help and kind support is much appreciated.Last edited: 2012-10-09 23:40:21 by Pauline
Sonia
Yes! It's definitely him, that I saw this afternoon! I just rang the owner, to confirm, and make sure they knew where he was headed, and hopefully they will find him very soon. I have also posted about him, in the local Residents Association Facebook Groups, to spread the word! Good luck little Kai! Hoping you are back where you belong, very very soon. :o)
