Thank you again to everyone in posting about Mags and Milly (even managed to get away with not telling my mum i"d lost her dog!) and helping in getting them back. The upside is that the police actually seem interested in what happened last time - turns out the story is probably not as simple as I was led to believe! they seem to think that them going this time may be suspicious, you just can't tell! I've shipped off Milly to my brother and am keeping Mags under lock and key. Just off to see Mags new friend Molly (little girl who found her and looked after her)! Very best of luck to everyone looking for their lost dogs...x

So very pleased that both dogs are home and safe. Agree with you Nicky, it does seem that something else is going on so would be a good idea to improve security - a couple local to me kept having their dog's let out, they installed a camera and the culprit turned out to be a dog hating neighbour xxx

Owner needs to take this story to the local paper as well as police. The pattern here is beginning to suggest something other than pure dog theft.

Have just spoke to owner :( Little Millie found her way back last night around midnight. Proberlly as she is an old dog & spayed so no monetry value to these people. Waiting on a call back from local Radio Stations who may well cover this.

Email sent to owner with many questions as need to build up facts of both cases ( present and previous theft) to present to police. In mean time publicise as much as possible.

OMG! You poor people and poor Mags (that doesn't sound right but hopefully you'll know what i mean!). You've only had her back a few days. Hopefully she'll be back again very quickly. x Hopefully the police will take this seriously this time.

Mags has just been stolen again...owner went to wash her hands heard a car pull up and Mags was gone...she was also looking after her mothers dog a Paterdale bitch...who was also taken...pleasecrosspost.

May could you & the couple who fell victims of these people put together a discription of them & the car. A blue corsa I beleive. We could at least try & get some notices made up to make dog owner's aware of what if going on. You could also try contacting local parish mag's if there is any & get a notice put in there. I shall find out about doing this for the Old Basing Parish magazine.

update on Mags - have reported what happened to the police and they are so uninterested its unbelievable! It seems that because i have her back, it doesn't seem to be an issue even though she was clearly stolen as she was sold on. Because the couple bought her with cash and theres no proof they say its not a police problem! Thank god for Laura, the b'stoke and deane dog warden as she is taking it really seriously and trying to get the police to do something so fingers crossed for a result!

So thrilled she is back home where she belongs.
Was only down to this wonderful website & the tool's which allowed me to share Mags' details in the first place which reunited her with her owner's.
Without DOGLOST that would not have been possible.
Please let me know how you get on with reporting this to the Police. I do hope the people responsible for Mags theft can be found & no other's dog owner has to go through this ordeal.

Mags was most likely stolen and was then sold on this morning...luckily for me they saw her picture on the internet and were honest enough to ring me to check....one very happy dog owner now, thank you!x

Bit out of my area but will post on some FB sites that cover Basingstoke. May - I presume you have contacted Laura your Dog Warden? I am not sure who does the out of hours service for Basingstoke but maybe the council have info on their site? I might be able to find out - but if she is chipped they will contact yoy anyway.
If you are on FB make a virual poster so people can share and make her hot to handle (if you think someone may have taken her).

ThAnks for advice - will get posters up tomorrow. There are a fair few travellers round here with Aldermaston just down the road so am worried she has been picked up. Just hoping that if someone does have her they will somehow get her back to me! It's going to be a long night...

Are you anywhere near Old Basing RG24 where cocker spaniel Jacks has disappeared from? (Doglost i.d 43102). Are there any travellers in your area? If she has taken herself off somewhere she might well return when you're out, so are you able to leave a gate or door open for her? Get loads of posters up - you need to make as many people aware as possible and then the sightings should start coming in xx

She disappeared from the garden in Baughurst at about lunch time - most likely got out but have searched for hours round all the fields and usual walks etc and no sign...
