When they are born, they have the big patches of colour, but the roan spots come through over about the first 6 months, and, of course, as the coat grows the colours blend, so any particular dog may well show much more "colour" when adult than when a little pup like Bluebell in her pic. They can look totally different colour in coat and clipped, because clipped shows just the spots, not the blending. Big spots just stay the same. xx

wensmum - thanks for the info - I didn't realise blue roans darken with age...will bear that in mind with future searches....there seem to be blue roan cockers everywhere at the moment.... :)

Angus - I thought that about the ages too, but thought it worth raising the possibility....I hope this gorgeous girl gets reunited with her owners soon.x

Thanks Skippy - I was looking at Sadie as a possible although she would appear to be a little young to be this girl - teeth are suggesting 5-7 years old - some of the others may be more of a problem as owners have not responded to previous contact from coordinators so we may not get a response or a photograph Last edited: 2012-09-12 08:18:52 by Angus

There is also little Bluebell, who was lost in 2008 as a puppy - 13181 -http://www.doglost.co.uk/dog_blog.php?dogId=13181 from RM14, Essex - there is no mention of Bluebell's tail, but facial markings look similar, and roan cocker puppies darken with age???

Ok - from a review of female blue roan cockers I think we have a few contenders:

Mollie 34046 - one of six stolen from ME9 in Nov 2011 http://www.doglost.co.uk/dog_blog.php?dogId=34046

Blue missing from DL15 since Oct 2011 - listed as chipped though
http://www.doglost.co.uk/dog_blog.php?dogId=33786

Possibly Sadie - 24607, but ages might not match
http://www.doglost.co.uk/dog_blog.php?dogId=24607

Molly missing from E17 Since June 2009 - white triangle on head - listed as chipped - no pic to check
http://www.doglost.co.uk/dog_blog.php?dogId=20503

cocker spaniel female missing from ME9 since 2009 - same owners as Mollie above I think

Hi Angus, heard back from Jo and is not Poppy. Hope this girl is reunited soon with her owner.

Hi Angus, Thanks for your response but I had left a message for Jo to have a look! Regards

I don't think so - this one is only around 5 and is def blue roan rather than black and white

Could this be Poppy who has been missing from HP area since July 2011? I will try and contact Jo (Poppy's owner) to get her to check.
