Belle is home!!!! We cannot believe it, the scenting and bedding worked, she was found back there by my husband and kids, kids called her quietly and she came out from behind tractor wagging her tail, straight up to kids! Am so emotional and relieved that this nightmare is all over. thank you. All so much for your support it made me feel like I was not alone and without your expert advice we would still be roaming random fields. extra thanks to Debs whose first text helped me climb out of a desperate situation and gave me advice and determination to get her!! Belle is super skinny, has sore paws and a few sores over her, but she has just slept and drank since being home and of course wagged her tail!! X x x
Heidi
home from work and 2 phonecalls informing me that Belle has been around the farm, and has since run. I get up there and nothing, however check her bedding, and food gone and bedding has been slept/laid on!!(bedding checked at 6am and not slept in then) amazing if that is her! put more food down (farm does have a cat!). Also found out that farm has 2 male dogs which Belle may be sniffing around. We then saw her, running in the middle of the field, and she just kept on sprinting!! we didnt run after her, but did call her and drove round to the next field, however she ran across 3 fields in total and out of sight, she did not respond to me at all!! it has become completely apparent that catching her will be the challenge! will this change?

Heidi, if we use a trap we will probably all need to be on hand. Debs we will need you if a trap is brought in. We'll have to do a rota as we need to man the trap. What time was Belle seen? So glad you have a nice farmer. the shed will be her safe place to bed down, so don't get too many people coming and going past it. You will need to scent as Spangles has said, and leave food and water close to it morning and evening daily. This will keep her returning. For the moment sit close by and watch, usually early mornings and evenings. Do NOT chase her, but sit and call her quietly. She is in survival mode at the moment so will take a little while to process that it is you, so don't worry. She may well just come over to you. But that is what you need, for her to come to you. Well done, keep those posters going and keep watch; thank the farmer a lot so he keeps helping. x
Debs
As I said before Heidi, im willing to come over and help if needs be :-)
Spangles
Heidi, we can get a trap, they can be effective but will need manning 24hrs a day to ensure that neither Belle or any other animal caught comes to harm, the farmer would need to give permission too. Suggest first approach, see if the farmer will allow you to do a vigil on his land, near shed, if you see her, do not approach, sit away from her so she can observe you, try not to make eye contact at first as she needs to realise its you, talk to her in a calm voice, no sudden movements, it may take hours, it may take minutes but hopefully she will come to you, smelly food, garlic chicken, garlic sausage, cheese, anything to coax her, but let her come to you, and don't try and grab her to quickly as she may bolt, if she will not come, we can use a trap and can get it to you fairly quickly but try without, she has not been away for too long so has not reverted to being wild as such so she should recognise you and twig its mum come to get her.....you have Sans mobile and she is talking with me on Belle and others......stay strong, you will get her home, you now know she's in the area....well done you xxxx
Heidi
A NEW SIGHTING, YAY! farmer rang this morning, stating that 'Belle' had just ran out of his shed (i guess where she camped for the night), he lives top of Arnold Lane, which is approx 600m from home! we rushed there, but could not find her (she clearly proving difficult to get), farmer has agreed to us putting bedding there..... am contemplating contacting RSPCA for trap? are these effective, kind, etc. Feel happy again that she is still out there fending well for herself, i have never felt more determined to get her back home!
Heidi
Thank you xx

Well done Heidi. You are doing well. x
SanBarn
Don't lose heart, I know it's hard but scent and poster, you never know when that magic phone call will come! If posters are removed then replace them, the council will often remove them from their lamp posts but there are notice boards and fences you can stick them on,make some into leaflet size to hand out, especially posties and milkmen.Belle has terrier in her, Border terrier by the look of her so she is a very hardy little dog and will be able to fend for herself, she won't starve and has already probably made herself a little den somewhere. xx
Heidi
Thankyou for all your tips and advice so far, we did another BBQ in field last night, no luck! and checked food left this morning and all still there!!! this afternoon, food gone, but possibly other dogs being walked! No new sightings and starting to feel dispondant! x
Spangles
Heidi, San has replied on here, I sent her a copy of your text re points of reference, we both agree need to make the triangle small to keep her to one side of the A12 so key is to find a safe place to sent to and leave bedding etc, have sent you a suggestion of who to ask, if they will help bed needs to be left where they can check it, make sure they know not to try and catch her but to call you if they see her, she is likely to bolt if anyone trys to grab her so it is really important that they call you, if they do go near her or talk to her tell them not to make eye contact or to make any sudden movements, tell them to sit a good distance away and just observe, not approach xx
SanBarn
Hi, Kim has a problem with her internet at the mo so I've worked out the triangle, it's very small at the moment but could get bigger as she moves around. You will need to scent from the first sighting in Little Hyde Lane following the edge of the road to the second sighting towards the pub at Mill Green Road then follow Fryerning Lane down to the third sighting, we need to try and keep her in her small area. I know she shot off into the fields but they usually stay to the edges of the roads or hedgerows when they are on the move.Let me Know if you need more help or advice. You can text or phone me on 07742664504.You can also leave her bed or a blanket in an area close to where she has been seen if it's safe to do so.I'm sure it's already been done but let the farms know and anyone else that lives or works in the area. xx
