  • Other Info Tara is a very nervous dog and will be very confused as she had only just met her new owner and will not know this area. She will bark at new dogs and people through nervousness but, although friendly, she is unlikely to approach them. The rescue is very worried they will not be able to catch her. If anyone has a humane trap it may be very useful.

Oh blimey I was hoping she would stay at Heathfield Park but has obviously moved on - am I right in saying the fire station is in the town and quite busy with traffic etc. Hoping she will settle somewhere where it would be possible to get the dog trap in place she must be hungry by now I would think. Good that the owner managed to get quite close though. Praying and hoping she is soon safely home. Julie x

Is it possible to move Taras picture to the top image as i can't get it to show on the poster i've just printed?
DogLostZoe - Area Volunteer - East Sussex
Tara was sighted this afternoon outside the fire station in Heathfield -i had an email from someone i'd emailed her poster to tao say he'd seen her - the owner had obviously had a couple of phone calls as she was there and had got quite close as i understand it. I have walked the footpath in the woods beween the Cuckoo Trail on Ghyll Road and Pook Reed Lane - no sign of her. As i understood it, she headed in that direction. I left the owners number and my own with the guys on the building site opposite Frenches Farm. I will hand out some of her posters at my circuit class tonight.

Do we know who owns Heathfield Park and if so have they been contacted ? Sounds a good place and good it is surrounded by walls. Ideal place for the dog trap I would think if permission could be given by owners and hopefully there are no sheep in there. Julie

Julie - Heathfield Park is privately owned with no public footpaths running through it either - she did quite well to get in there in the first place as it is pretty much surrounded by a stone wall! It would be quite a "safe" place for her to hole up though as i'd guess she'd be pretty undisturbed. I live in Horam so can get a couple of posters up on the Cuckoo Trail when i get home from work.

Hi Cohema - I have left a message on your mobile this pm. I have rather a difficult week ahead but I can help evenings, nights or maybe early mornings. I looked at Heathfield Park on google, is it a busy dog walking area or is it private owned, I also see there is a property called South Lodge and wondered whether the owners of this property would be helpful to leaving food out or gates open if it is a garden area which could temp Tara in and confine her. If she stays within the Heathfield Park area I was wondering about doing a barbeque with very smelly food one evening which would maybe temp her and setting the dog trap near where we have the barbeque with some tasty sausages etc. in the trap. Just some thoughts and I hope she stays safe. All good wishes. Julie

Just shared on Facebook with friends in that area, including one who may be working around Heathfield Park and one who works for Cats Protection so will spread the word with her contacts I am sure. Can anyone poster the cuckoo trail in Heathfield and Horam? My printer is broken :(

I am local as well. Have any posters been displayed yet & if so, where? At least if there are some sightings you will know which area she is spending most of her time in which will help pinpoint a place to put the trap. I'll obviously do what i can to help but i'm at work fulltime. I know a lot of people in the area so will at least email her poster to them to start with. Fingers crossed for her safe return.

Hi Julie - thanks for your offer of help. She has been sighted this evening in Heathfield Park but ran off when approached by the finders. We hope for another sighting in the morning but it would appear she is circling around the site she disappeared from in Mutton Hall Lane. She is not from a local rescue but from a shelter in Bulgaria and was, as I understand it, only brought into England yesterday morning, therefore there is no-one here who will be familiar to her. However, there may be the possibility of another canine travel companion who herself is a bit traumatised with her recent journey but may be a possible lure at a later time when she is more settled. I represent the Kit Wilson Trust in Hadlow Down so Tara is practically on our doorstep and we will do all we can to help catch her. Please call me direct on either of the numbers below to discuss your possible help and fingers crossed she is sighted again soon.

I was just wondering if it is a local rescue she has come from and if it is whether there was any particular person who used to look after her that she may recognise and come to. Just a thought. With all good wishes. Julie x

Well done Cohema and great you have a dog trap but need to find the area she is in before anything can be done. I live at North Chailey but if you require help with searching later on in the week please let me know on here and I should be able to get over to assist. Lets hope she turns up safe and sound very soon. Julie

Have just spoken to Debbie and offered advice and help - I have a humane dog trap - am willing to go out day or night to any sightings of Tara but we need to try and establish a feeding site when she is located, although she may run scared for a time and move out of area. Please contact me on 07887800887(24 hours) and on 01825 830735 8am to 7pm daily with any sightings. Please note that Debbie describes Tara as resembling a very thin Husky x Whippet type and she is noticeably shedding her coat.
