Well done to owner who never gave up the fight for her fur baby! All dogs should have owners like that. Well done. If only the matter had been cleared up sooner, it would have been better for all involved. Welcome home Ruby. x

Refresh page to see Ruby back home.
Timmy's Mummy
My concern is for Ruby, she will get very homesick and wonder what is going on. She looks in very good condition so has obviously been well looked after and the people who gave her up must be devastated. What a sad sad situation. Welcome home Ruby xx

Give her a hug from me xxx

Stunning result! Of course, if the new owners bought her in good faith it is VERY decent of them to give her up, but even they must know that it's the right thing to do. They should put the police onto the person who sold Ruby to them! Hoping to see Reunited pic v soon. Welcome home Ruby!
cindy
I think a big 'Thank You' to the people who have had Ruby for giving her up, it must be quite a wrench as they have had her for nearly a year now, and if they bought her in good faith it was not their fault. Stay safe Ruby x
Ellie
Really pleased this is now sorted Welcome home Ruby

After another court date being set for late June the people who have Ruby have agreed to give her back. The Dog Warden is arranging to collect her and bring her back to her family XX

True Belle. I also said somewhere, maybe when Ruby had her facebook page, that Ruby's owners need to go to the top man at the particular Police Station involved and tell them if they don't do something they will go to the IPCC that will make them sit up and take action. This is theft. Good luck xx
Belle
mathers22 is right. Theft is not a civil matter. The owner has pix right here to prove their possession of the dog at the very least. I would strongly advise going back to the police and taking it higher up the chain of command if they do not do something. You could also get an injunction returning possession of Ruby to you until the matter comes to court. If you have to engage a lawyer you can then claim those expenses against the people who have Ruby now in small claims court at a later date. If you write to them explaining all this, they may give her up without incurring all the expense because they know they're in the wrong. Good luck.

What a beautiful dog! What happened , did the dog get rehomed via dog warden or did someone find her and keep her? Thoughts are with original/RIGHTFULL owners x

My heart goes out to the owners of Ruby it must be torture having to wait for a later date - it seems so wrong that it has come to this. J. x

Oh that's awful xxx

Ruby's court case has been adjourned to a later date

Everything crossed for a successful outcome for Ruby and her owners today - really hope there is great news when I log in later. J. xx
mathers22
Good luck with Ruby and the Court Case. I am sure the outcome will be in Ruby and her owners favour. Definitely not a Civil Matter - THEFT - end of. Again good luck xx
Belle
Best of luck in court. Appalled that the police say it's a civil matter because it's NOT!
B30
Ruby was only located Jayne but not returned to her owners. There is a court hearing today to try to rectify that.

Good luck guys. I hope today results in Ruby coming back to where she belongs XX
MojoPeanut
Jayne, is Ruby home now or is this still a civil matter being fought over in court?

Vets in Bristol have just rung to check on Ruby as owner emailed them poster...was able to say Ruby is back home...so they can take down the poster....they were thrilled....
mathers22
How's things on here with Ruby. If everything on here is correct (which I am not saying it isn't) then it isn't a Civil Matter it's theft simple as. If Ruby's owners are unhappy with how the Police are handling this and they are not happy then they need to go and make a complaint at the Police Station and tell them they are unhappy with how they are dealing with the matter and that they are going to the IPCC. I've got that information from someone who has worked for one Organisation and is working for the other Organisation. Good luck to them xx

Very sad. Jonfiz, you are correct. She is stolen property, just like a stolen vehicle and should be returned to original owners. I am sure, as Sue says, the co-ordinators in Central are working to assist owner. Terrible. Let's hope police and others all do the right thing and soon.
mathers22
This is so awful really hope they soon get Ruby home. Joined her fbook group and they've never given up hope and now this !!

. STATEMENT from Julie Ruby Baker.
Our family are extremely saddened to have to inform you that despite receiving confirmation that Ruby has been found. We have been contacted again by the Police who have said they are NOT able to return Ruby to us and that we now have to pursue this as a civil matter through the courts. Rest assured we are seeking legal advice and we will update you all as and when we can. We are extremely gutted.
Unknown
JonFiz I agree with you entirely; so whar`s the problem? Welcome home Ruby where you belong:-)xxx Keep us posted please.

Lesleyjane, we're looking into this to see if there's any advice we can offer.

Welcome home Ruby. Julie has worked so hard to bring her home xx
lesleyjane
A bit confused here.....has the owner taken advice on this? Am sure doglost and Trevor Cooper at Doglaw can help to get Ruby back with her real owner??
Jonfiz
post on facebook saying that although Ruby has been found safe and well she has not been returned to Julie and the police have told her to pursue it as a civil matter!!!! The dog is chipped and was stolen therefore in the eyes of the law she is stolen property so why won't the police help?
Scrappy2010
So pleased to read that Ruby is back home where she belongs :)

Yesterday I posted an Animal Wardens Found American Bull dog, after emailing them they told me that the dog they had listed has been returned to the owner so could not be Ruby. I hope they update the website to reflect that.

Check 40225 Am Bulldog cross found in Wales. Long shot as I think she has less brown than Ruby, but faces look similar so can't be 100% sure from photo - worth checking just in case.
