She's a very lucky dog with a guardian angel, she was found in Walsall. She had been well looked after by someone but she is very distinctive with all that loose turkey neck lol. She can't believe she's home and we can't believe she's home, it's amazing. Lots of tummy tickles and cuddles. I'm still waiting for the man who found her to ring me to find out the full details. Thanks once again everyone xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx A fantastic website, keep up the good work DogLost and all your volunteers. Love Julie & Huchi

Great news Huchi has been found. Someone found her in the canal today approx 3pm and contacted Rosedene rescue centre. She looks really well and was obviously well cared for. Not sure if she was thrown in the canal or fell in. A big big thankyou for all the advice and support and all the people who shown an interest. Esp Caz, Janiejewel and Jenny 4 for putting up posters, going on facebook and twitter. And a massive thankyou to all the doglost staff. Lots of Love Julie & Huchi xxxx

Huchi is still being circulated on twitter.
Julie
Thanks Janiejewel that is very kind of you I really appreciate that. It's so important to keep the interest alive and like you say make her "too hot to handle". Love Julie x

Have put up posters within a 3 or 4 mile radius from where Huchi went missing, used by many dog walkers daily, some we have got to know quite well. We walk these areas most days, and are keeping a lookout still. All xd.
Unknown
Worth a try to telephone all the dog wardens in the area also check Birmigham dog home and any other, sometimes the chip is missed .

I am so sorry it wasnt Huchi...maybe get on to the local media and ask if they can run a feature on her. Also the radio stations in the area..
Julie
Hi Jenny4 I spoke to K9 Search and they said it wasn't her. They said that k9 search has a facebook page and that dog has a photo on there. Thanks for the lead though. Julie
Julie
Hi Sue I think it's mainly local people but anything is worth a try so I will contact as many vets as possible. Thanks Jenny4 I will give K9 search a ring about the dog you mentioned but they told me in the past that the colour they put first is the main colour and she is more white than brindle but I will certainly follow it up and no unfortunately not found and not a single sighting. Thanks Janiejewel please keep your eyes and your ears open. I will keep going down to the lakes and putting up posters but I think she must be further a field or being kept indoors. Thanks everyone for your support. Love Julie
Unknown
Does anyone know if she has been found yet?
Unknown
Hi Jenny4. Fingers xd that it is her. Actually I dont live too far away from where she went missing, so I will post a.s.a.p. If she has been stolen lets make her "Too hot to handle"

Julie do people tend to come from further afield to walk the lakes or would it be mostly very local folk? I'm just thinking that she may need to be taken to the vets at some point if she has a skin condition so you could make sure that they all have a poster as she's very recognisable. Cover as big an area as possible, you can use the Find Any UK Vet on here to broaden the postcode areas.
Julie
Hi Sue I don't think it is the council because it only appears to be in the same spot, some previous ones I put up in that area was also taken down. There have been some council workers, who always appear very friendly, and they have taken posters off me because they obviously cover other areas in B'ham. I suppose I am hoping it is what you suggested that someone has caught her and want to keep her. I am just off down the lakes again with my other dog to mark the territory, I will see if the new posters I have put up are still there. Thanks for your interest it does keep me motivated. Best wishes Julie
B30
What a shame the sightings have stopped. Maybe someone has caught her and wants to keep her which could be why posters are being taken down. Or sometimes the council take them down. You could perhaps give them a call to find out and if they object try to explain and promise to remove them all when she's found.

Let's hope the adverts bring some responseLast edited: 2012-05-19 05:38:35 by B30
Julie
Thx Caz There has been absolutely nothing. I was on the lakes today and I noticed that someone has taken some of the posters down we put up. Some of them were in sheltered areas so I don't think they were blown down plus the drawing pins have been taken out. I have put more up though and around Wyrley Birch estate. I have also put an ad in evening mail on Liz's advice, it was in last night, tonight and saturday and sunday mercury. Thx for your support I really appreciate it. I really miss her. Julie
caz
i have people on facebook asking if there are any new leads they ahve been great in keeping the info to the top, I do hope shes safe and that you get her home soon xx
Julie
We are on K9 search, but will try missing pets beau and Ray Deddicott
Julie
Thanks so much Caz. I was down the lakes today and I saw the posters you put up I really appreciate that and for keeping her on top of facebook. Let's pray for her safe return. I don't think she is stray by the lakes as there are lots of dog walkers and they are taking the time to read the posters. She has either been taken in, as she is very friendly or she has moved further out. I have been marking my scent around the lake as advised by Sue and left her blanket in the bushes near where I lost her. I can only hope that someone kind has taken her in and when her mange starts to reappear they will realise she needs a lot of attention and return her to me.
caz
rebumped poster and info to show huchi still missing there are over 3000 people on these sites so surely someone might know where she is fingers crossed for you hun xx
caz
have you tried missing pets beau or k9 search? or ray deddicot from radio wm?
caz
sorry julie ive heard nothing back as yet though still bumping the poster to top of pages so that all can see shes still out there.. if i get any news ill let you kow as soon as xx

Dogs can attempt to make their way home but often they will stay in or return to the area where they were lost from. She will be probably be moving around searching for familiar scents so leaving some clothing, bedding etc might help her feel secure enough not to move on.

Sightings are essential when plotting a triangle and posters are the key so that people phone and tell you they've seen her, when and where. The more sightings you get the more obvious her movements will be and sometimes you can anticipate where she'll be next and have the chance to be one step ahead of her.

Dogs can often survive for a very long time feral, all they really need is shelter and a food source so think about where she might find food. Any shops around with bins out the back? If so make sure they know not to push her away if they see her. How near are houses? What day is bin bag day? If bins are on pavements it's easy pickings for a hundry dog. Do fishermen use the lakes? If so make sure they know about her, if they're out for a days fishing they'll have food with them. If she's scared she might be moving around mostly at dusk or dawn when it's quieter.

It would be a good idea to try to work out what route she might take if she was attempting to get home though and get posters up before she might get there, just to cover all bases.Last edited: 2012-05-13 15:21:03 by B30
Julie
Hi Caz how do I find the facebook site? Thx Julie
Julie
Thanks Sue for the information you sent on scenting I will certainly give it a go. As she is not from the area how likely is it that she will stay around the lakes. I noticed you mentioned a triangle will she stick to that triangle even though she is not from the area. How long can a dog live feral for and what would it eat? I understand that cats can use the solar system and wind direction to help them get back home from unfamiliar places, are dogs ever known to do this?
B30
Hi Julie. The detail in Other Info above suggests that someone put her on DL on behalf of someone else so I wasn't sure if the email address I have is for the owner. If it is you I'll email you some information about scenting that you might find useful if she is still hanging around the lakes area.
Julie
Thanks to Doglost for providing such a superb poster and circulating the information. You are a very proactive organisation and I appreciate your support.
Julie
Thanks to everyone who has contributed to this page and have spread the news via Facebook etc.
Julie
Thanks Caz for putting posters up. I did put some up in all of the bus stops on the Ridgeway, other busstops local to the lakes, around witton lakes and brookvale lake. That was on the 2nd of May I have seen that some of them are still intact but obviously with the wind and rain they may have come down. There is also a dog walker who walks his dog around the lakes up to 4 times a day and he has my number, I have spoke to a few people who go there regular and they are all keeping their eyes peeled. I go to the dog's home regular and ring them daily.
Sue, Co-ordinator Central I do not understand your comment made at 17:40?
caz
has the owner tried putting advertisment in gumtree lost and found? just a suggestion from fellow facebooker
caz
i dont know the owner at all just had email of you guys to keep eye out im doing all i can to help .. i put some posters up etc.. had someone on facebook say that this dog they saw that looks like huchi was alone on the pathway by witton lakes and shes letting the kids etc no to keep eye out as she lives over the road from there... ive told her to either contact the owner or me to let you guys no of the whereabouts of huchi as and when sighted.
Fran Daly
Just sent an email to Julie, Huchi's owner asking whether she's aware of the latest updates on this page.
B30
Do you know if the owner knows Caz or is this just something that's circulating on FB?

Sounds like the owner could do with some scenting advice but I'm not sure the person who registered on here is the owner.
caz
Have had report of sighting at witton lakes this morning from someone on my facebook link (sites) trying to get more info have put posters in perry common lakes as there werent any other than that nothing as yet waiting to find out more details on sighting this morning will keep you posted.

Spoke to owner, she has contacted DW, vets, chip company, she has also postered the area. Have advised her to put an ad in the paper as she may be over the other side of Birmingham now. Also to try Kerrang as they may put it on the air. Have advised certain sites to check and to visit BDH at least twice a week.
