Rainbow Bridge

Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.

When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge.
There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together.
There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.

All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor; those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by.
The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.

They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent; His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.

You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.

Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....

Oh nooo! I am so terribly sorry and sad at this dreadful outcome. Please know that however awful it may appear, I am sure God took great care of him as he went to Heaven. I know this is so heartbreaking for you, but please know that you DID find him. He can now rest peacefully knowing that you know. You will be together again. He is waiting, for an interval, at the Bridge. This special boy will always be with you, forever. God bless you all. x

Are you checking all the Border Collies for sale on Google, there are lots of them, not all puppies, it is possible one could be Sam. I am often in the area where he was seen and keep looking...Check Ark Ashbourne, Just For Dogs Brailsford, Border Collie Trust Rugely...if someone kept him they could have taken him anywhere....
Unknown
So sorry Lisa - at least you know that people are still aware of him.
lisa28

lisa28
i actually think the lady who called me last night said it was a collie she saw in Ilam - would it be possible that he is still so close to home now but not actually come home? 6 weeks on thursday since he went missing. i desperately want to know where he is :-((
lisa28
none of the sightings have been confirmed to be sam - not even sure if they were collies only that they were black and whites dogs running loose.

Sam has a brand new poster.

He could have been picked up and taken out of the area by walkers so please keep a look out for him.

What a lovely boy. Just a thought - have you contacted the Animal Lifeline kennels at Cellarhead (ST9 0DG) 01782 638341 .... they are only about 15 miles from you if he has crossed over the border into Staffordshire, also the City Dogs Home just another three miles or so further on from there (ST2 8ND) 01782 304130. Possibly worth trying both if not already done so?
B30
Advertised in this weeks Countryman's Weekly magazine.
rottie
i think you are correct in thinking someone has taken him, even so do not give up hope, he is chipped so that is a good thing, have you informed the micro chip company. best of luck for a speedy return. vicky xx
lisa28
still no sign of Sam - maybe possible he has been stolen i think. Just going to change the posters as they have been ruined by the non stop rain!
Jonfiz
have messaged my colleague who lives in Wyaston but he works around and about your area.
lisa28
Thanks for all your help vicky! Still hoping he'll return soon :-(
rottie
will keep postering, would definatly consider advert in local paper,at least he is tagged and chipped so if he is out of area can still be traced back, collies are very clever and strong dogs, would he happily go to someone ? thanks Vicky
lisa28

I have spoken to the owner, she has contacted the DW, pound, vets, local farmers and the ranger. She is going to contact the local radio. Sam is a dog who was not interested in working sheep and owner is sure he would not chase them. He may have moved out of the area and into another county.
Unknown
I have asked owner to send a photo.

Tried to call but went to answer machine.
