Yipeeeee so pleased you have got Bess back and once again I must thank the helper who so generously paid the kennels fees so that Bess could get back home where she belongs !! OwnerOfBess please do get her a microchip and a tag ! If she had been wearing a tag when she went missing she would have been back home without ever having to go to Cliffe Kennels. With great pleasure I can now say welcome home Bess and please stay safe from now on xxxx

Hey everyone, brilliant news bess is now back home curled up sleeping in her bed!!! Thank you everyone who helped, i want to thank the generous lady who paid the fee you are very kind, she recognised us straightaway but she was very nervous and wouldnt hardly move when we went to collect her as all the dogs were barking but as soon as we got her on the lead and out walking to the car she certainly wasnt nervous anymore! i love bess!! all this wouldnt be possible without the generousity of the very very kind hearted lady! thankyou!! :) x
OwnerOfBess
Also thank you to terrierlady for offering to pay a donation for bess, it is very kind of you. x
OwnerOfBess
To the doglost helper who paid the fee:

I just want to thank the really generous doglost helper who has paid the fee because i know it wasnt cheap, you are a very kind hearted person to do that for us. We all dont know what to say because we are just puzzled that you did that so thankyou very very much. As soon as we get her back we are micro-chipping her. Thankyou everyone who has helped get bess back and a big thankyou to the very generous helper who paid!! :)

Thankyou so much to the Kind person who has so very generously paid the fees to get Bess out of the kennels. You have a very kind heart !! I have just managed to make contact with her owners who are so very grateful and said they will be going to collect her in the morning. Fee has been paid by one of our kind helpers that wants to be anonymous...but owner you must collect by 6pm tomorrow....will let local co-ordinator know...
terrierlady
What is the fee to get her out of the kennels ? If the owners are struggling to find the fee then i would gladly offer a donation towards the cost
liana
Better that you didnt see her as it would not be fair on Bess, please try and get her out of there asap. If she is on medication for he health problems please make sure they give it to her.Last edited: 2012-04-11 15:38:03 by liana

Hope Bess is home soon...can understand why they didn't let you see her, Bess wouldn't have understood why you wern't taking her...can you pay the kennels in installments or are they asking for it all at once....looking forwards to seeing her in the blue xxx

Hi OwnerOfBess
Oh no I am so sorry you have'nt been able to collect Bess from the kennels yet ! ! Please please try to get her as soon as you can only the kennel fees go up each day ! If you weren't able to pay to take her away on the day you were there I expect they wouldn't let you see her as it would have been distressing for Bess to see you but not to be taken home. I so hope you are able to get her back soon x x Last edited: 2012-04-11 01:10:54 by Jumanji - Co-ordinator.South.Yorkshire
OwnerOfBess
Hey Pam, we have been to the kennels they said bess is there but we wasnt allowed to see her and there is a fee so we are currently trying to come up with the funds so we are abit disappointed that we havent seen her in nearly 2 weeks and we stil couldnt see her until we pay them. I'll let you know when we have her back with us. x
Jumanji - Co-ordinator.South.Yorkshire
Hi OwnerOfBess ! I did wonder if they would be able to hang on to her for long. It's not always easy taking in a Stray dog longterm. I have tried to ring you to see if you have got her back yet. Can you please text, ring or post on here just so we know it is her at the Kennels and that you have her back safe and sound xx Pam
OwnerOfBess
Hiya Pam, the finders have been in contact with us, they told us that they have given her to cliffe kennels because she was yelping because of her arthritis, we are going tomorrow can't wait. We all just want to thank everyone that helped especially you pam, if it wasn't for you we wouldn't have her back so thank you. x
Jumanji - Co-ordinator.South.Yorkshire
Hi ownerofBess. No I have left a few messages on the landline number I have for a friend of the finder but so far they haven't got back to me. The person who told me about them thinks they may have gone away for Easter. I will keep on trying to get hold of them. Have you tried putting posters up locally as the finders of the dog may not live far from you. Also if we haven't heard anything by Tuesday morning I suggest you contact the dog warden to see if they notified him that they had found a dog. Also do keep checking with Cliffe Kennels. Pam x
OwnerOfBess
Hello Pam, have you heard anything from the finder or the finder's friend? x
Jumanji - Co-ordinator.South.Yorkshire
The owners of Bess have been in contact with me but I am still not able to get hold of the friend of the finder of a dog which may be Bess x
Jumanji - Co-ordinator.South.Yorkshire
I have been told that a black collie cross type dog was found in Grimethorpe about 8 days ago which does match up with Bess . however the report I have is that the dog was not wearing a collar and the information we have is that Bess was wearing one. Have tried to call the number I have been given for the finder( or it maybe a friend of the finder )but no answer so have left a message asking them to contact me. Have also tried ringing and texting Bess's owners to alert them but have not had a reply yet. Fingers crossed it is Bess and she somehow lost her collar x
Jumanji - Co-ordinator.South.Yorkshire
Have had text from Bess's owners to say they have been to Clffe Kennels today but sadly Bess was not there. Have advised that they get more posters up in the hope of bringing in more news of her.
Jumanji - Co-ordinator.South.Yorkshire
Have spoken to owners this morning and urged that they go to Cliffe Kennels in person to check Bess is not there. The person I spoke to was not cerain if the dog warden has been contacted so again I have urged that they check the dog warden has her details and also that they check back through their list of found dogs.. There has been a possible sighting of Bess walking near allotments in Grimethorpe but there is no date for this possible sighting.

Thank you BADAW.will alert owner to your post.

Would advise owners to contact Wakefield area dog wardens as well as Barnsley area dog wardens.
Barnsley strays go to Cliffe Kennels at Hoylandswaine, not sure which kennels Wakefield strays may be taken to although I do believe that they use two different ones so would be well worth asking for contact details of both. I would strongly urge contacting kennels at least once each day, maybe twice! Also do visit each kennels as often as possible, take along a poster or two, and insist on seeing ALL dogs brought in even if told no dog matching description has been brought in. Breed identification is not always a strong point.Last edited: 2012-04-01 22:53:10 by BADAW

No problem :-)
Bess went missing on Wednesday after wandering off through an open gate. She is wearing a leather collar.
Owners have been out searching and have contacted the dog warden. There have been no reported sightings of Bess since she went missing.
Advised owners find out which kennels their local dog wardens use and visit them in person.
Owners will ring round local vets and continue to spread the word and poster. Also advised on some door to door knocking in case someone has taken her in for safe keeping.
Fingers crossed for some news of this much loved girl
