Very, very sad, but also heart warming for such an outcome. I am so sorry you had five weeks of searching and stress. I can't but wonder if sometimes it happens like this to ease you gently into what lies ahead, but I don't know. As has been said, this was probably the best way for her to go to Heaven, although you have struggled through, you DID find her! She can rest peacefully now, in God's arms, whilst she waits for you at the Bridge. What a joyous time that will be. God bless sweet Lucy and her loving owners. xxx

Oh how sad. I am so very sorry, but agree that it was a lovely way to go. My thoughts are with the family at this sad time, who do at least now have closure and can at times visit her final resting place. Run free at the bridge, dear Lucy xx

Very sad to hear about Lucy but pleased that you found her.

I remember first seeing her pictures on here and thinking how happy she looked on her walks so it's comforting to think that this was how she was feeling when you lost her.

Sadly on 5.5.12 Lucy's body was discovered in the middle of the field where I lost her 5 weeks and 2 days earlier. Many of us have searched the area time and time again over the past 5 weeks and she was there all along. She must have dropped dead suddenly and silently on a lovely evening on a normal relaxed walk. I guess if you have to go then that's the perfect way to do it. Many thanks Doglost for your support in my search. I have used the poster you quickly produced to put up anywhere and everywhere and to post/email to all the local vets and rescue centres. Having someone to offer advice was also hugely appreciated. I am so very sad but I now know what happened and where my lovely Lucy is, now resting in peace buried in our favourite field 10 minutes from home.

What a lovely lady Lucy is, looking at her photo I was just wondering that if anyone has found her and taken her to a rescue or kept her and put up a found notice, its just possible that they described her as a different breed, ie GSDX, Belgian - she is similar to my Tervuren and people are always mistaking him for collie x gsd.She is in our thoughts and hope she is safely home soon.

Spoke to owner, she was on a walk with Lucy when she just vanished. It is a rural area and a small village, it was 7.45pm and was just starting to go dark. Lucy does sometimes get confused but knows her way home. She is fit and healthy. Owner crossed the bridge (water underneath is ankle deep) into a field but Lucy was not behind her. Owner was on the phone, she turned back to find her but there was no sign of her. Owner has spoken to farmer (who has shot dogs in the past) and he has denied seeing Lucy, owner said he would own up to it. There are some travellers who have been there for about 2 years and are known in the village. Owner has checked ditches, the only other thing is the railway line and trying to see if her fiends 2 spaniels can pick up a scent. DW has been contacted and local vet.
