Update on Duke...
Owner's picked Duke up from the vets last night, he has improved so much in the day, he has very specific instructions re: food etc as he has swallowed loads of sea water......One very, very lucky boy xxx
Podge
That's fantastic news. I wonder how he came to be in the sea so far away...
I just put posters up today in our village - genuinely pleased that has proved unnecessary.
Well done to the children who acted to get Duke fished out of the water.
Excellent.

Great news, I can go and take down the posters now! Assume he still had his name tag on and was traced by that. Last edited: 2012-03-20 13:24:32 by Paw

Really pleased to see Duke has been found, thank goodness the 2 children spotted him in the water!!
Hopefully he will fully recover from his ordeal

Carol thank you so much for everything you done to help the owners xx

pleased to say that Duke has been found, albeit in a dehydrated state. He was plucked from the sea at Southwold by the RNLI, after two children spotted him in the water, he is now at Wangford vets on a drip. I took the owner over to make sure that it was him, and there was no doubt! He is in remarkable health considering.

Thank you carol for helping to search for Duke. It may well be he has moved on from the area as he is very timid. Hopefully today will bring some positive news x
carol
I went up as far as Snape crossroads twice today, just in case he has moved on a bit, but nothing I'm afraid. I know that last monday, 12th march, the girl in the garage said she had called the police about a GSD running loose that way, but as further sightings were nearer the Aldeburgh end, that was where I had looked, I will try and get out tomorrow, but I fear he has moved further afield.

Thank you Rog and Paw for helping to search for Duke x

We've been out that way 3 or 4 times now walking our dogs and hoping to spot Duke but sadly no luck. We'll keep going back to that area - you never know!! I hope he'll be found soon, safe and well.
Paw
Couldn't get to Great Wood area but walked from Sizewell down tracks and old railway along edge of North Warren - all this area links up with Great Wood by paths and tracks. Left some posters with a Scout Camp near Thorpeness and one in van parked at Aldeburgh golf course. Might get out that way again tomorrow and try to take posters to Snape Maltings.

Spent all morning with a very kind man and his landrover going across all the fields and woodland in the area, spoke to the greensman at the Golf course and the owner of the fishing lakes, no sightings unfortunately, will go again tomorrow.
Paw
Will try to get out that way at the weekend if he's not back by then. May be able to get some posters up at Aldeburgh golf course.
carol
Covered the area this morning, round Billeaford Hall, right through to the Aldeburgh mast, back tracked to the rear of Hazelwood Farm and spoke to farm workers and had no joy at all.The owner has no transport, and suffers from ill health, so is unable to cover the area as effectivly. I am afraid I will be unavailable for a few days, so if anyone locally could help I am sure it would be much appreciated.

Have been out with the owner late afternoon and evening, spoke to a farm worker who told us that Duke was sighted this afternoon near the Aldeburgh mast, behind the farm. He has told the two workers who will be in that area tomorrow to watch out for him, and they will contact us immediately. Will also post on facebook.

Have been out looking this afternoon but no joy. The exact location of the last sighting was a wood on the Saxmundham Road (road to Aldeburgh from Snape A1094). The wood is called Great Wood and is behind Hazelwood Hall Farm. All dirt tracks, am going again tomorrow AM.

Which side of town - I work Sizewell end and will keep a lookout on my way home, but can drive different way to look if I know roughly which area to look in.

I have spoken to the owner and it seems likely that Duke jumped the fence in their garden. The Dog Warden and local vets in the area have been notified.
I will E-mail general infromation including contact numbers for vets in the area. I have added Duke's details to Dog Lost Norfolk and Suffolk facebook group.
Stay safe Duke until you are found xxx
