In that general direction - so will be out looking again this afternoon. Was going to concentrate on train track Shillingstone, but will detour to Hamoon too - Hope it was Foggy nice to get another sighting.
dave
Had a phone call of a sighting of a dog that could have been Foggy, but the lady wasn't sure. (trailway @ Hamoon). We did not see anything.
dave
Sorry have not been on the site for awhile, but we still look and speak to people when out and about. Nothing at all no sightings or anything.
DogLostBobble - Area Co-ordinator - Somerset & East Sussex
Any more news on Foggy? I can get down that way next few days if I know where to look? I have obviously told colleague in Blandford and she is looking out for him. Any idea when his ad is going in the BVM? Have any handout sized leaflets been produced for handing out to dog walkers etc? If so I could do with 30-40 to hand out.
dave
Sorry late in replying Bobble, it was in Blandford, the lady who sighted him? was going to ring back if she saw him again, she didn't but we did not see anything.
DogLostPoochpal - Regional Co-ordinator - South West - Police Liaison Team
Only just seen that there has been another possible sighting, could you send me a text when this happens please so that I can bump Foggy, that way I can bump on the day he is seen.
DogLostBobble - Area Co-ordinator - Somerset & East Sussex
Dave, Is that the Somerfield in Stuminster? Guess you rushed down there from your comment, keep trying we'll get him home soon. PS I have a friend going past the Co-op in Blandford tomorrow, I know she would be happy to walk her dog about there and take a look if its the Blandford one you are refering to?
dave
we had a phone call, last night of a sighting of what might have been Foggy @ the back of the Co-Op (Somerfield), we assume it wasn't, we didn't see anything.
Unknown
Sorry to see Foggy is still missing. All xd for a positive outcome. Presume all local vets have been checked?
dave
No sightings whatsoever but, will keep on looking.
Jess
I'm guessing there has been no further sightings :( my husband did go up to the norton woods area for a walk and lots of workers still up there so hopefully would spot him if he was around.
dave
Julia will go to Forum school tomorrow. No luck today though :(
DogLostPoochpal - Regional Co-ordinator - South West - Police Liaison Team
Bumped again due to the sighting in Shillingstone. Has a poster been taken to the Forum School? Staff often walk the childrenacross the fields to Child Okeford. There are a lot of staff at the school so you could ask for a poster to be put in the reception.
dave
Have placed boxed linage ad in the Blackmore Vale today in pets section, hope this will bring a result.
dave
Thanks Jess, Liz the dog warden looking in Shillingstone tomorrow, Julia spent a few hours there today calling on a few people in Schelin Way and even spoke to the lady who spotted him? I'm going to Okeford Fitzpaine and Julia is off to Stur' again tomorrow.
Jess
Just reposted on facebook again, and have sent link to some friends in shillingstone who I know walk their dog around there. Husband said he will try and take the dog around the area during the week. Fingers still crossed.
Jess
Great you're getting calls again! I was at a bit of a loss as to what to do next. Just a shame the two sightings aren't in the same place. The woods etc round there are huge and all sort of link together don't they (norton woods, shillingstone woods etc). I know that my husband was moaning about lots of logging work etc being carried out at norton woods recently so wonder if there are still workmen up there that might keep a look out. I so hope one of these sightings are foggy. Will try and have a look around shillingstone way this weekend.
dave
Just had call (4.00pm) from Friars Moor vets to say that a customer has told them they saw a dog in Schelin Way Shillingstone yesterday @ 3.30pm they stated they were convinced it was Foggy.
DogLostPoochpal - Regional Co-ordinator - South West - Police Liaison Team
Please use the scenting instructions around the area of this sighting, put some smelly food there to encourage him to stay in the area. It is very possible he is hiding out nearby. Although usually friendly and would approach people Foggy would now be in survival mode and would hide rather than come to you. It is so hard but keep going Dave, make sure the posters are still up around the bridleway.
dave
Had a phone call @ 2.10PM today of a black & white dog sighted on the bridle way back of stud farm, after a thorough search i did not see anything.(foggys dad).
dave
Thanks to everyone still looking for our Foggy, have upgraded posters in all locations we think he may be. Julia out looking everyday with our other two Jacks. We have people in Sturminster Newton who knew Foggy still looking
DogLostPoochpal - Regional Co-ordinator - South West - Police Liaison Team
Thank you Sue, let us hope it brings news of sightings. Bobble you are right, it is a very rural area with lots of cover. Foggy could survive for months without any help from humans.
B30
Advertised in this weeks Countryman's Weekly magazine.
DogLostBobble - Area Co-ordinator - Somerset & East Sussex
Dont assume someone has him, he could still be living rough, its amazing how long some do, withouth being spotted. Stay positive, keep looking for leads and great idea from Jess to try and get a prominant piece in the BVM. Don't forget to poster pubs in the whole area between Pimperne and Sturminster, have you done any hand out flyers yet? they are very useful for handing out. Sorry I cannot do more to physically help, but my thoughts are constantly with you and Foggy
dave
Thanks Jess, we are re-doing all the posters this weekend and will try a boxed linage advert.
Jess
Logging in every day hoping to see foggy in the blue :( have reshared on Facebook. Walked some of the trailway again this weekend just in case. Strange how he just seems to have vanished - maybe someone has him like you say. Let's hope his chip brings him home.. I wonder if the Blackmore vale would run a bigger piece on him on the first few pages? I have seen a few articles like this - a terrier cross called shadow went missing 18 months ago or so and I remember an article going in about him. Don't know about cost but at least most people would see it. Not everyone reads the pets pages I suppose. Still hoping - so sorry he hasn't yet been found.
dave
We are still looking for Foggy it has been 3 weeks, we assume someone has him?
Please return him, he is greatly missed.
dave
Been to Ashley Wood golf course, Foggy flyer on 1st Tee, also been to Badbury Rings point 2 point, still no joy. Thanks to all who are looking. Dave & Julia.
mcford
Hi Just got back from walking to pimperne woods and then past the village hall to the anvil, but no sign I'm afraid. Also went to Fiddleford again first thing this morning as boyfriend went fishing but again no sign of him.
dave
Once again many thanks to everybody out and about looking for Foggy. We keep hoping. Dave & Julia.
DogLostJayne - Founder Doglost.
Tx...thats kind of you.
mcford
Hi I am so sorry your dog is missing. I walked from Fiddleford Manor, firstly along the river for a while then walked on the Trailway to Stur and then round the Town but I saw no sign of him. I live in Pimperne so I will walk to Pimperne Woods tomorrow.
DogLostBobble - Area Co-ordinator - Somerset & East Sussex
Drove out that way today and had a good look around. Covered Stalbridge, Fifehead Magdelane, Newton,(I know other side, but thats the direction we came in from) Manston, Margaret Marsh, Guys Marsh. Could not spend as much time as I wanted to, I would have liked to walk about more, but one of my own dogs is very ill and I couldn't leave her for long.
dave
Back from looking, nothing, things are looking bleak at the moment.
Jess
Walked from shillingstone rail station towards sturminster for mile or so this morning and back again. I really think if he was along there now you would getting more sightings as it is so busy. These were lots of walkers and cyclists. Have shared again on Facebook to keep him fresh in people's minds.
dave
Out over Home Farm way today, going up towards Sixpenny Handley. Foggy is on Twitter & Facebook, His twitter following is becoming huge. Thanks to all who are helping. Jess will need to meet soon. Foggs dad.
Jess
Lovely new picture, he's a handsome boy. Have been to shillingstone park today so postered both entrances to recreation ground, one of which is from the trailway. Lots of dog walkers that way. Aiming to walk some of trailway this weekend. Have seen the blackmore vale ad, hope this brings some new sightings.
dave
Foggy should be in the Blackmore Vale today, new posters out today and a "Foggy is still missing" strap added to existing flyers (if still readable) if not will replace.
B30
Foggy has a new photo and I'll advertise him asap
DogLostBobble - Area Co-ordinator - Somerset & East Sussex
Dave, you are doing all the right things and unfortunately as he has hopefully been sighted in Stur area, the downside is you will be using fuel travelling. I'm sure he's worth it, but I know it adds to the frustration. Do you have anyone at that end that he knows, that could go out looking? The trailway is quite easy at the start from that end. So they could concentrate looking there, maybe carry some of his bedding or something and some treats too. Jess you are doing a great job! I wish I was a bit closer, can help look too at weekend if hes not back by then. Menwhile my thoughts are with you.
dave
Yes a sighting of a whiteish dog was seen very near the end of the trailway @ Stur', thanks Jess for all your help you can only do what's possible
Jess
We can certainly take a walk along the trail way, but with work/ kids won't be til the weekend. Was the dog spotted at the stur end of the trail way? Difficult to know what to do next - need more sightings..
dave
I'm thinking of asking my wife to walk the whole trailway with our two other Jacks, i cannot because I'm disabled after a Motorcycle accident, which is very frustrating, used gallons of juice in car driving around.
DogLostPoochpal - Regional Co-ordinator - South West - Police Liaison Team
Scenting and plotting instructions emailed to you Dave, Is there a point that you think you can work nyour way back along the trailway from Sturminster towards where last sighting was reported?
dave
We responded to answer machine message(6pm) of sighting of a dog on the trailway @ Stur' after extensive search no luck. It has been a week can anyone offer constructive ideas what my next moves are? Foggys dad.
DogLostBobble - Area Co-ordinator - Somerset & East Sussex
Highly likely he is heading back to old home and great that the area is already postered. I will speak to anyone I know who comes from the area between Pimperne and Stur. I will also pop a poster into Gillingham vets today as some of their clients come from Marnhull direction.
dave
Stur' has been heavily posted, also old neighbours, local police officer & vet, France woods done, Okeford Fitzpaine shop, Shillingstone and the trailway.
Julia (wife) will walk down the trailway after 2pm (work) today. I'm going to poster the refuse tip (Blandford) today.
DogLostPoochpal - Regional Co-ordinator - South West - Police Liaison Team
Posters are doing their job, good that you are getting the calls. It does sound like he is heading back to Sturminster Newton. I have bumped him due to the sightings.
Jess
You may have already thought of this but also postering along the trail way that goes all the way from shillingstone to stur might be an idea? It might even go from shillingstone to stourpaine by now, I know they were working on this. Also norton woods, France down/stourpaine bushes and the restored railway station at shillingstone.
Jess
Thats great that you're getting phone calls - shows the postering is working! When your wife said that you hadn't been in pimperne long I did wonder if foggy might try and go back to stur. Have you alerted the people who live in your old house? Postering in the areas you used to walk him there may be an idea? Sorry I cannot do alot during the week with the kids, but will continue to spread the word as much as possible. Hope for more phone calls tomorrow...
dave
Have had a two possible sightings from phone calls tonight. The first was a sighting of a dog on the Milldown Blandford yesterday afternoon and the second was tonight between Child Okeford & Manston near Fontmell Parva house (thanks Sue), have just arrived back 8.30 but no sightings, if it is Foggy he could be making his way back to Stur' Newton? will carry on tomorrow foggys dad.
dave
Have placed ad in the Blackmore Vale today (sorry Gina should have read your e-mail more carefully) Also a BIG thank you to Morrisons supermarket Blandford for putting the flyer on the lottery till.
DogLostPoochpal - Regional Co-ordinator - South West - Police Liaison Team
Come on Foggy, let us know where you are. Just one sighting is all we need. Sorry Dave ,I will not be doing the Blackmore Vale Mag, it was meant as a sugestion for you to do. Much better comeing from you as you have all the details and will be able to word it the way you feel will bring the best results. I will be back at work tomorrow but will have my mobile with me if there is any news.
dave
No luck today, thanks to everyone who has helped throughout the day. I believe Gina (poochpal) is organising this on Tuesday, I'm doing Turnworth and over Bulbarrow Tomorrow. Once again thank you all very much Julia & Dave.
Jess
Have you considered an advert in the Blackmore vale?
Jess
Posters have been put up in the places I mentioned below. My friend is going to try and catch the girl at school this week. If not, there is a poster up outside the school they go to so hopefully they will see it.
Jess
I've just sent her a message on Facebook to ask her. When she called me she did say she didn't have their number, but it may be she can catch up with them when the schools are back this week. From what she described it did sound as if the dog had run onto the building site ( which is just a dug up field at the moment) so I very much doubt the kids would have been able to follow onto there. Worth a try though!
dave
I have e-mailed meridian tonight, perhaps Fred & Sangers can help?
dave
Jess is it possible you could ask the woman who knew the kids chasing a dog where it went? Thanks (foggys dad).
DogLostPoochpal - Regional Co-ordinator - South West - Police Liaison Team
You are all doing a great job, all we need are sightings to know where to concentrate the search. Stay safe Foggy, fingers crossed we will find you soon.
Jess
Sorry cannot get out on the ground a but more but have a baby and toddler so not particularly mobile! Need a definately sighting to know where to look...Last edited: 2012-02-18 17:08:53 by Jess
Jess
Walked from stud farm across the fields and down to the village hall - saw all your posters but no sign of foggy unfortunately. We may walk over hancocks bottom area tomorrow to have a look around. Planning on putting posters up in blandford by the rec, by milldown school, larksmead field/park, ham car park, by one stop, nisa local, post office, by skate park, shaftesbury road entrance to persimmon estate and maybe a few more. Should be able to print tomorrow morning. Keeping everything crossed.
dave
have been to local golf courses, pubs, campsites, NT sites, farms, riding schools, just about everywhere. We have left flyers in all these places, so in all there must be around a hundred flyers out now. Sunday out again, friends from Pompey are coming down & we are going to attack Pimperne woods. Thanks to all who are helping. Foggy's dad.
Jess
Will get some more posters up around blandford over the weekend. Reliant on printer at husbands work and a busy day today so may not be til tomorrow. Will let you know where I put them. Hoping to walk from stud farm later.
DogLostBobble - Area Co-ordinator - Somerset & East Sussex
Dave, I am so pleased we can consider the gone to ground option highly unlikely, it is always a worry with terriers. Keep up the good work. We are quite a way from Pimperne, but I will put up a couple of posters in SP8 area. You never know who might see them or where people are going. Maybe worth you speaking to Steve at the campsite at Handley, as he gets a lot of walkers staying there, so hopefully he'd let you put a poster up and some smaller handouts in his tourist information area Good Luck Last edited: 2012-02-18 10:20:58 by Bobble - Area Co-ordinator - Somerset & East Sussex
dave
if any helpers are placing flyers around for missing foggy(37106)could they kindly let me know the areas and placements please. foggy's dad.
DogLostPoochpal - Regional Co-ordinator - South West - Police Liaison Team
Has anyone been able to ask the children who were seen chasing a dog if they know where it ran? I will send email fliers to the owners to be handed to delivery people in the area, post, milk and bin men in case they see him on their rounds.
dave
Hi Bobble, thanks for your help, we have put up 50 posters and contacted all the authorities we know. We start again Sat and will go to the rings car park.
In all of his 11 years Foggy has never tried to go down rabbit, fox or badger holes, so we assume he is just wandering around. Foggy's owners.
DogLostBobble - Area Co-ordinator - Somerset & East Sussex
Out that way today (Farnham, Handley, Ashmore, Wimborne via Badbury Rings), so obviously kept an eye out for him. Is it likely that he has "gone to ground" if so there must be someone in the area with working terriers who could advise and help find him? Owners keep looking and get as many helpers to search the farmland as you can, keep him upermost in peoples minds and get more posters out. I know people sometimes take them down, but I didn't see any today and a well placed poster might just jog someones mind, its a constant round of sticking them up! Good luck and my thoughts are with you and I wish I could do more.
Jess
Poster put in pampurred pets today, at entrance to Langton meadows and on black lane outside archbishop wake school. Have asked husband to do healthy pets, and two ends of milldown as near his work. Popped to pimperne park with kids today as good view of surrounding fields but nothing. Will try and walk around stud farm this weekend.
dave
Thanks Jess, Foggy was lost @ Stud Farm in Pimperne, we have postered the area & let all know in Pimperene but more help is needed. Just got back from cruising Blandford but no luck.
Jess
Didn't get out to have a look as husband back after dark but drove along bypass between pimperne and Wimborne roundabouts and down Wimborne road tonight to have a look. Have shared on Facebook and will try and get some posters up around the area. Would be helpful to know whereabouts in pimperne foggy went missing from as could take my dog up there this weekend for a walk?
Jess
Just phoned the owner as had a possible sighting crossing Wimborne road in blandford yesterday afternoon at about 3pm. This was at the top of Wimborne road just off the Wimborne roundabout, next to the new building site at the rear of archbishop wake school. The dog (poss foggy) was running towards the building site. The dog was being chased by 3 children, but my friend knows the children and knows it wasn't their dog. Will try and get down there to look when husband is home to watch kids.
