it's been almost a year and Bob is still missing
Crystal Moon
Just wanted to say please don't miss the chance to find Bob by relying too much on her microchip. It's not unheard of for them to be overlooked.
bornjoyful
Bob still missing - I did not follow up on reggiemollieros below as our bob has a microchip and it should get picked up if it was her.
DogLostreggiemollieros
I just saw this today on gumtree - it is 2 dogs found together so is less likely however there are phone numbers to call as she has them with her now. Postcode is BS13 - I have emailed and asked them to take photos and upload to Doglost.
Here is the text of the advert

JP
I am away next week but will renew some posters before I go. Really sad to have no news of Bob.
JP
I'll get some stock in as soon as I can for Bob and for future use, back at work tomorrow so will check around Kingswood to see if posters are still up. Checked St George's Park and some have been taken down and some looking worse for wear. I wish we could have a clue, someone, somewhere must have seen her.
bornjoyful
thanks JP- i think these plastic folders work really well if you hang the open end , upside down and pin it bottom and top. i do not know anyone who lives outside of the bristol area. Nick is coming down here tonight so i cna find out how many and where its been done and suggest to hm to just cycle to bath and hang posters!
again ,thanks JP- you rock!
JP
posterered by the iron bridge Crews Hole both sides the other day and in the lanes thereabouts. saw the poster in pride of place at the doggy daycare building, you can't fail to spot it and plenty of cyclists along there. Also today did some in Saltford but mine are paper and won't last long except the ones I could get under a shelter. Saw some Tesco value clear folders, 25 in a pack fairly cheap and wondered if they would be any good for putting in the open to make the poster last longer. Wish I could have done more of the cycle path. Are there any helpers along there that could be emailed to help maybe at the Bath end or further on (BA districts?)
bornjoyful
i shall ask Nick about the radio- i know the papers said no. thanks for all your help.
vegandogww
I had the park keepers put poster on all notice boards behind glass at Eastville Park and St.George Park. Ia also have a poster in the back of my car so whereever I go it's on view. My dog is like Bob and called Bob only a boy. A few people have asked me in connection with your Bob which is good. I also know a volunteer at Bristol dog's home who is personally checking all incoming dog's - she knows Bob.
Why don't you do a press release - it would be good to get on radio Bristol - lot's of people listen. Come up with an interesting angle about Cycle Bob and that she is well known etc...
bornjoyful
JP- yes Nick has a different poster with a collage photo . The lady in Saltford now says the dog se saw is more tan than Bob is so she is not sure. Personally I think it makes sense to post all along the cycle path...although she knows it well so why would she not find her well known home exit??
It occured to me she is trying to make it down to my home near dorse/ somerset border and the cycle paths apparently can make it all the way down here!!

we are calling Bath dog home frequently and they have posters of her.
JP
Anyone checking Bath dogs home? If Bob IS the dog at Saltford it's only a short journeyto Bath.
JP
Have family in Saltford but can't get there until I have my car back from garage otherwise I would poster along the river, if it's not done and I have car back by Wednesday I will try to do some that way.
Saw postman from Easton area today,he said there are loads of dogs running around but not seen one like Bob though he had seen the posters up so that's good that they are visible, also someone said they had seen the poster in Fishponds but not the same poster as mine ( mine prints out with just one pic of Bob apparently this one had the extra images too)
JP
spotted the ad in This is Bristol
bornjoyful
this possible sighting was 9 miles down the cycle path in Saltford, of a dog without a collar running down the pavement onto the cycle path. I have sent the lady more pictures.
Shereen
Have had a possible sighting called in but it was last friday,I have passed the ladys number onto owners.
bornjoyful
i also texted Nick with this great idea
Mollychops
Thanks JP good idea.IVe left a message with owner to make sure this gets done .
JP
If someone could poster the Polish shops and maybe The Polish Church just in case. I will do some in Kingswood today, little bit out of the area but there is a Polish shop and plenty of passers by.
Mollychops
OK, please everyone keep those posters going up and keep an eye open for this lovely girl in this area. lets hopeit is Bob. WEve got to make her too hot to handle !!!
bornjoyful
possible sighting today in Easton - with a Polish woman
Mollychops
Ive bumped her due to papers coverage
bornjoyful
thanks Karen.
KarenH
Hope Bob is found soon, I have put posters up in my doggy daycare building in Crews Hole Rd, St George. Very busy with foot traffic and lots of people are looking at them, so fingers crossed.
JP
Good it's in E.P hopefully will bring some news.
bornjoyful
ad is now live in Bristol Evening Post and the Western Daily Press but no sign of it on line in 'thisisbristol'
bornjoyful
Molly do you mean the ad in the paper?
Mollychops
If someone can check this coverage for me please I will bump Bobs page when its in , Thanks x
bornjoyful
they will not cover it as a story in newspapers but i paid for a week advert with BEP.. They screwed up the layout of the one that comes out tomorrow so i got another week free. i am not in bristol so cannot even check it is in the evening post tomorrow but i will check if it is up on thisisbristol online- its not yet but they said wednesday

Mollychops
Thats great bornjoyful, and JP you are doing a great job any news on media coverage yet ?
bornjoyful
Nick is pretty well known in the Easton area and lots of people know Bob so he is getting a few calls from people who say they saw a dog that 'looked like' Bob in different areas . These 'sightings' have been other dogs on leads and he has asked them to call 'Bob bob!' to try to confirm. Its probably not Bob but worth him putting posters up in these places. Bob went missing 6 years ago in Edinburgh and was found 11 days later and he said he also had calls similar then and they all were wild goose chases because lots of dogs look like Bob. Even I thought a dog on here might be Bob and he said she looked nothing like her!
meanwhile , posters are going up in lots of places , albeit slowly.

bornjoyful
well a couple of people said they would do that park but they are not on here.

i reckon postal depots are a great idea.

JP
Also asked a postie at Whitehall depot to spread the word and will get a poster to them ASAP
JP
Postered from car park Oldbury Court (Vassalls) down through to Snuff mills today. Plenty of people with dogs were viewing them. Can't do anything Tuesday. Has anyone done Eastville Park?
bornjoyful
ok- ad placed for 2 weeks in BE post and this is bristol online. ad placed in gumtree too. is tere anyone else who can print outn some posters and hang them in bristol?? thanks everyone for the help.
DogLostReynard
Yes REWARD but please dont put a £value 'substantial reward' 'reward offered for information' etc.
I would also suggest adding 'this poster will be taken down when we have found Bobellina' this may stop those anti to 'fly postering'
Newspaper adds or a story about how she went missing and why you want her back.
Taxis & taxi ranks are great usualy always happy to help and they see and hear things

vegandogww
I would be inclined to offer a reward on the poster.
bornjoyful
Below is from Nick

Cant sleep but keeping chin up and nose to the grindstone.

Still no sign. Has been a week :( but they do disappear for longer than this and reappear.

I just need to know she is ok :( and not get sympathy, just help, coz i dont have time to think about emotions yet, just getting the job done.

Big thanks to everyone who has printed out or picked up and put up posters .
I Really need people with printers. Can refil your cartridges, bring you paper and give you wallets for the outside ones, and if you cant access a printer then we can drop some off for you:)
Even just ten or twenty would be amazing, but the more the merrier, is surprising how quick they go up. Especially if you just keep a few on you and do a few on your normal missions

If you find your normal areas are already blanketed, then give me a shout and i will redistribute posters to those who still need them. We ave covered about a quarter of what i hope to in bristol area so far. Thanks guys :)

Also heard need to cover 30 mile radius in less detail if anyone goes or lives elsewhere - bob can cover a lot of ground, and dog finders often dont live near where they find them.

Though we do need to keep eyes especially peeled in fishponds, easton and st pauls.

Big appologies for even longer delays in replying to everyone, even busier and more thinly stretched than usual.

Sadly found out that dogs homes can rehome after 7 days of finding!?!?! Nightmare. And chips dont always show up :( Really wanna get info out far, and wide fast. Can never have too many posters, but can people let me know where they have done on here so I can cover all the missing areas. Feel free to re-do areas as much as you like!!!
Best places for posters are anywhere where people stop, and anywere where you find animal lovers. eg parks, dog poo bins, bins, lamposts, near benches, vets, petshops, charity shops (older folk, unemployed and students can be very useful), anywhere people queue, or wait, post offices, shops, pubs, clubs, drop in centres, doctors, vets (again)

Dont hurt any trees, or annoy anyone, and be prepared for some heartless people to refuse u just cos they can. Police always seem really cool onced they realise you arent flypostering.

thank you thank you thank you

Good luck and thanks a million to anyone and everyon who is is helping

We miss the Bob, Bobellina please come home safe and sound!!! :(
JP
St George. I have postered 20 today top of Church Road by library circumference of St George Park onto car park/chalks road, the vet at lyndale, foxcroft and back through bottom of park and back up to library. put them on dog bins and litter bins and handed out a few to dog walkers. No news at all I'm afraid. Good luck today. Last edited: 2012-01-22 09:36:37 by JP
bornjoyful
where are you JP? Nick has printed 300 posters and has people putting them up but not sure until much later tonight exactly how many have been put up and where. If you need more-he has them!Last edited: 2012-01-22 12:08:01 by bornjoyful
JP
I have printed some off, been at work all day so not had a chance but will get out tomorrow before work then let you know where I put them, off Monday so more time then.I asked the people at the Bell Hill allotments and Troopers to watch out for both missing dogs.
bornjoyful
have contacted Highways Thursday and they are closed till Monday now. thanks
DogLostReynard
Bornjoyful can/have you contact Higways as its so close to M32/M4 Motorways, also poster where drivers can see in case she was picked up by car, just put her photo MISSING and phone Number as difficult to read all the stuff from a car. Good luck!
NB: postering is so important Last edited: 2012-01-21 12:00:51 by Reynard
bornjoyful
yes i think she would know how ot get home form the cycle track as she lives just off it
bornjoyful
JP do you need posters? call any of the numbers and we can send them or get them to you. thanks
JP
Sorry I can't poster until Monday-possibly Sunday am but I have just posted on Friends of Troopers Hill and I have spread news with Twitter and Facebook and told everyone at work and friends at Easton and told dog walkers out and about to keep eyes and ears open. Would Bob know her way home if she got to the cycle track?
bornjoyful
chip details are up to date and posters are going up but i do not know exactly were except it is obviously in a 5 mile radius of Easton over to Fishponds and of course the cycle track which she knows so well. All vets in area have been contacted and 3 dog home sin area and 2 sets of LA wardens
vegandogww
I've posted on Hollyhedge Sanctuary FB, Bristol Dogs home FB and Friends of Eastville Park FB.
RSPCA Bristol vet clinic needs regular checks.
vegandogww
Word is spreading on Facebook. Bornjoyful do you know that the microchip details are up to date? It is surprising how many people forget to change phone numbers etc..
Lets get as many posters up asap...Is the dog warden aware? I'll contact Hollyhedge Sanctuary. Also be worth ringing Bath dog's home. I can't imagine that she is living rough, someone may be looking after her.
Does she know her way home? Has anyone contacted the Vets? Sometimes missing dogs can travel with well meaning people so she may be further afield. I'm afraid some shelters only keep for 7 days so we must act quickly.
Fingers crossed she is found soon.x

Defo worth it me thinks!
Mollychops
Bornjoyful your boyfriend must get in touch and let us us know what he is doing,Its his dog after all !! bornjoyful

bornjoyful
thanks vegandog. yes dogs home contacted every day. thanks for doing some posters. i just called the newspapers agai and they now say ther eis a £30 charge ...no-one said that before so anyone else doing this BEWARE you can call and send email but nothing happens- you need to place an ad and its £30 for Bristol Evening Post and for adding western daily press its double
vegandogww
Hi, I have posted on facebook and asked my friends to do the same. I live in Easton and have asked a friend to print posters to put up. Is someone regularly ringing dog's home in case she has been picked up?
I will ask other dog walkers in St. George Park and Eastville Park to look out.
Fingers crossed she is found soon.

bornjoyful
western daily press will do it but no from Metro.
JP
I am working afternoon/evening shift and it will be too dark for me to poster after work but I will look that way on my route and try talking to people in the park. I would hope any helpers would post here so we all know what's happening. There is a free paper on the buses think it's the Metro Bristol. Also used to be the Bristol Observer but not sure if that still exists.Last edited: 2012-01-19 11:18:04 by JP

Thanks JP and dancingLeigh....how do i work out how many folks may be putting up posters? is it just the people who comment here?
bornjoyful
have contacted bristol evening post...any others I should consider?Last edited: 2012-01-19 11:01:30 by bornjoyful
JP
Local paper is Bristol Evening Post. If Bob is making her way home she could be waylaid somewhere like Eastville Park and from there down through Snuff Mills. Will try to get that way tomorrow to spread the news with any dog walkers.
Mollychops
Thanks Dancingleighx Bob escaped from owners friends house, and nothing has been heard. Owner is ill atm with flue and sadly unable to do much atm. We need posters going up in the area she went from, and Ive alsked owners girlfriend to put a piece in the local papers, she is living further down in the West country and is unable to do much atm . I would appreciate any names of local papers she can contact . Dws have been notified, but a lot does need doing here, so any local help would be gratefully received. Ive emailed out advice sheets to owners girlfreind, who put the dog on.

Admin
Sorry to see that BOB is missing.
  • If your dog is microchipped please let the microchip company know that your dog is missing and check that all details are up to date.
  • Owners targeted by a malicious hoaxer demanding money for the return of their dog should phone the police on 101 immediately and contact admin@doglost.co.uk
  • A photograph of your dog is essential for the website. If you have not already uploaded one, please do so by clicking on Update details. Alternatively you can email it to admin@doglost.co.uk quoting the dog's DogLost ID number: (36354)
  • Obtain a missing poster by clicking on View poster above. Posters are very important so start postering now!
  • You will need to be logged in to upload photos, edit your dog's details, or add comments. You can add comments by clicking on Click here to add a comment.
  • Contact dog wardens, vets and local rescue centres, and in Scotland, the Police. Give a detailed description with any distinguishing marks/scars or send them a copy of your DogLost poster. You can find vets in your area here.
  • If your dog has been stolen inform the police immediately and obtain a crime reference number (CRN). Send an email to stolen@doglost.co.uk.
  • If your dog is picked up and taken to rescue kennels, it can be legally re-homed after seven days. Visit rescue centres in person and do not rely on checking by phone alone. Other people may not recognise your dog by your description, so give them a DogLost poster.
  • Keep us updated by keeping your dog's page up to date and check for posts from helpers who may have suggestions and possible matches or sightings
  • DogLost is free and anyone asking for money to find or return your dog is not volunteering for us. If you are concerned about an approach you have received, please email admin@doglost.co.uk
