We have group photos of dogs still missing in Essex. Please text me your email addy on 07867308672 and we will get one to you if you need one. The plan is that all owners club together for a printers shop to do a deal and share the cost between you. All your dogs will be together on the posters and they can be given out at Fairs, Animal shows, Events, Boot sales etc. This is where people go, who may have been offered or given a dog like yours. Worth a shot. It did get one back last year. You would need to make contact with other owners whose dogs are also on the poster. x

I think I was the first person to alert the owners as to just how many JRT's were being stolen in the S.E. I am so sorry that little Alfie is still missing. Ironically, as I type, I have a gorgeous little JRT young male laying on my lap. He's my first foster dog, and I'm now realising just what enjoyable company JRT's are. Come on Alfie - escape from wherever you are - and get yourself home! You are so missed.

Owners, it would be worth trying the travellers sites and putting posters up around them, in case they know where Alfie may be.
DogLostKimmybear - Area Co-ordinator, Essex & Hertfordshire borders
Moorhallfarm, can you poster around Brentwood and Chelmsford areas. A few stolen dogs, can be located that way, so well worth some postering there.

Thanks Jansus, anything is possible. Alfie's dad, any news???? Missd,I wonder if lady contacted the FB site pages as opposed to this one? Shame we don't have more info. Think owner has been postering that way now - have you Moorhallfarm? How's it going?
jansus
I am sure this probably is not the same dog but the photo here is not that clear. there is a dog advertised in buckinghamshire for sale on preloved. The only reason I thought it might be a bit odd is that the dog is photographed in a car and the owner says not enough time for it. looked a bit more like another dog on here Oscar but the legs were too short. Sorry if I am completetly off the mark. Just put Terrier in as search and it should come up.
DogLostKimmybear - Area Co-ordinator, Essex & Hertfordshire borders
Thanks Missd. Strange as this is where it would go and can't see anything? Have advised owner and if we get a lot more posters up with any luck another sighting will come thru. Could be part of a triangle. Owners, please re-read all the information I sent you and start over again. Does this sighting and the place where lost make part of a triangle - where do you think the other point would be? Try and guess and poster there too. Posters anywhere in a 5 mile radius, at least, is a good plan. Good luck! Come on Alfie boy! x

Apologies for posting here as unlikely to be connected to this case but may be relevant to other lost spaniels. Some travellers were evicted from a site just outside Brighton a few months ago & were camped out in parks all over the city. They were selling puppies mainly jack russells but someone has told me they were also selling pedigree spaniels.x

Hi, is there any update on this dog? I have posted the link to a group page on FB dedicated to people who live in Harlow. As it stands there are over 4000 members so the word is out in Harlow. I have also had a message from a member saying that a Jack Russell has been found by someone, just waiting for further details with regards to this. Fingers crossed and I will update as soon as I know. Cheers.
Kenna
The comment was " I see a dog this size and colour near wood farm in moreton but when the kennels went looking he had gone this was 2 days ago" I have asked the lady to call or message you on here. Hope it was him and hope you find him x
Kenna
I put a link on fb about this dog and a lady commented that she saw a dog of this decription near wood farm in moreton rd ongar 2 days ago! but unfortunatly he got away.

I'm still here, watching, waiting, hoping for you. Keep it up, he's probably laying in front of someone's fire, but it needs to be YOUR fire.

How's it going out there? You have done so well. Let's hope Alfie gets home very soon. Sometimes it helps to start again at the beginning; make out its just happened and try again with fresh eyes. We are all thinking of you and Alfie and wishing him home. xLast edited: 2011-12-26 23:29:23 by Kimmybear - Area Co-ordinator, Essex & Hertfordshire borders

Attn: Harlow people. Anyone know Harry who used to have Molly & Polly the greyhounds? He has a new JR type dog. He lives in this area of sighting. If anyone has his tel no., can we ask him if his dog got out? Thanks. Just want to be sure. I've printed lots of posters now and have seen Alfie's already up at Eastwick Lodge. Well done. x
DogLostKimmybear - Area Co-ordinator, Essex & Hertfordshire borders
Moorhallfarm that is exactly what you need to do and the right thing to do. I texted you just after we lost the dog! Came straight in and posted on here. It would have been just after 8pm. We all saw the dog at the same time as I was following in my car and on foot and others helped. Moorhallfarm, sometimes it is better to look in evening and early morning because that's when lost dogs come out. Not always, but very often. Thinking of you and we are all here to help. x (Thanks Michelle x)

Hi Kim, hope you're well :-) Think I may have seen owners driving around as well, as we both did 3 point turns in dead ends! Having lost one of my dogs overnight once, it doesn't matter how friendly they are, when they are lost they can suddenly change (my dog refused to go near people he'd known for years) so there's every chance he won't just go to someone that calls him. Am out most of tomorrow/night unfortunately but if there are any sightings please feel free to text me (07708 769748) and I'll head to the area as soon as I can. Michelle

EVEN IF IT IS POSSIBLE THAT THIS DOG IS A LOOK A LIKE; WE ARE STILL GOING TO HEAD BACK TOMORROW (TAKING THE OTHER DOGS WITH US FOR A LONG WALK).

WE HAVE PUT SOME POSTERS UP AROUND THE AREA AND HAVE SPOKEN TO SOME PEOPLE AS WELL. MORE WILL BE DONE FIRST THING IN THE MORNING AS IT WILL BE MORE PRODUCTIVE IN THE DAYLIGHT RATHER THAN LOOKING IN THE DARK.
HAVE LEFT A MESSAGE WITH THE DOG WARDEN; WILL CALL THEM AGAIN FIRST THING TOMORROW MORNING.

KIMMYBEAR; HAVE YOU SPOKEN TO OTHER PEOPLE THAT HAVE SEEN THIS DOG RUNNING AROUND? WHAT SORT OF TIME DID YOU SEE THE DOG?

ALFIE IS A VERY HEALTHY HAPPY DOG, AND DOESN'T HAVE PROBLEMS WITH HUMAN CONTACT. ALFIE DOESN'T HAVE A COLLAR ON.

THANKYOU TO EVERYONE FOR YOUR HELP AND CO-OPERATION.
WILL KEEP YOU UPDATED TOMORROW.

I was one of the people that saw this dog. I can't speak to you on phone, Sorry - I can only text. Hi Michelle! Thanks. I am thinking it is possible this dog is an Alfie lookalike as he looked too sprightly for a lost dog, unless he has been looked after. He was walking with a young lady but wouldn't let her catch him. I would suggest we stick a few posters up there, I can do that tomorrow, but not till late. I can't print here so would have already done that if I could. We need to rule out he is not a dog from that area, but he did look very much like Alfie. We cannot confirm where the patches are though. So please, do not hope too much as sometimes sightings are not the same dog. please speak to Dog warden tomorrow though to check if another dog has gone missing and been reported. This dog had a narrow escape with a car though, so we do need to find him anyway - unless he's got back home? He could get into park from there. x

Texed owner earlier. No response yet. If anyone in Harlow knows who this dog is, or if he is Alfie, pls let us know. Thanks.
DogLostKimmybear - Area Co-ordinator, Essex & Hertfordshire borders
Have just seen a dog very similar to Alfie - but please do not get your hopes up yet. Dog was running in Glebelands,Tanys Dell, Dovehouse Croft and Gt Plumtree areas of Harlow. A number of us tried to catch this dog but he kept running off. I did not get close enough to see the markings, but am told there were patches on an almost white coat. CM20 area of Harlow. This dog appeared very healthy, lively and quick and happy, but is on the lose. He may have just got out of a house, but need to let you know just in case. I suspect this dog will be seen again as built up area. However, you need to contact Harlow council dog warden first thing tomorrow so you can check if another dog is lost or if it could be Alfie. Please do not bank on this as it could be a let down, but you never know. Have bumped due to possible sighting.
DogLostKimmybear - Area Co-ordinator, Essex & Hertfordshire borders
Keep going out there! Just keep the pressure on. You are doing fab! x

Remember that the more you can publicise your dog, the more media attention you can get...will make your dog hotter and hotter to handle, and maybe, just maybe, if he has been sold on...the 'new' owner will see his piccie and contact you. Or maybe he will be dumped by the dog-napper.
Neighbark
My goodness - you've done so much since I first contacted you. You so deserve to get him back. How about adding to the posters " '£? REWARD FOR HIS RETURN " -AND "No QUESTIONS ASKED" (We just want him back! "...tho check this with C.J. and Kimmybear first. I just wish all owners of stolen & missing dogs in the S.E. would have a meeting and band together. I have ideas, some probably ridiculous, BUT WHEN ALL ELSE FAILS..... I'd organise a meeting with the other owners, work out plan of ACTION - Write to the Chief Inspector/Constable of local police force, keep writing and phoning until u get a reply. Don't be fobbed off - you have rights. Hold a rally- a march, to get attention, sandwich boards with big posters of your dogs on, "WHERE ARE OUR DOGS? outside police staions, town halls, etc. - tell the papers, get the media's attention, tell the t.v. companies u are going to have this rally/march. Pool money, maybe take out page ad in National paper- with piccie of all these dogs. If 40/50 of you banded together u could easily afford big ads, maybe t.v. ads? Need to spread word wider and get the dogs piccies in papers.Negotiate with papers, pay for advert and get free editorial. Start a petition, work all S.E. areas getting signatures, send to downing street - hold a peaceful rally outside No.10 - WHY THE HELL NOT ! These bastards are picking these beautiful dogs off one by one and getting away with it. If u organised all these owners together, had a meeting, all come with ideas, and decide what you can afford, -maybe get a price for a private detective?
I hope to God that I am never in this situation. If I was, I KNOW that I would try every single avenue.

Well done with posters and all your efforts. Another place well worth poster is the trolley shelters in all the local supermarkets. Esp the Tesco at Church Langley that is used by lots of the people living in the countryside areas around you. Just a thought. Like Oscars mum we have never found Chelsea but these two dogs are in the minority. Keep on spreading the word and am keeping everything crossed for you. xxxx

Did police give you a CRIME number not an incident number? If Alife appears to have been stolen they should give you a CRIME number and this means they need to be out working to find Alfie. Keep on at them. You are doing so very well, you must have news soon. God bless. Keep safe precious little Alfie. We have Alfie on a number of other facebooks too. x

You are doing really fantastically. Well done! Are the sniffer dogs trained on dogs or others. Sometimes if trained on i.e. drugs or humans, they don't do so well on another type i.e. dogs - but anything is good. A sniffer dog would be fantastic. Secondly, you need to put Alfies' lost date back to the correct date because if someone saw him on that date and sees he was only lost recently, they won't think it is him. Important that the lost date reflects the true date. If you let us know when Alfie is on the radio or in the papers we can bump him near to the top again. I will bump him now due to the Observer. You are a fab owner, trying so hard. We are all supporting you. I've resent those emails to your other e-mail addy. Let's find Alfie! x

Owners you just have to keep going. Perseverence. When you say no luck at the gypsy site, you need to keep asking, not just once. Have you checked both sites - Fernhill Lane AND the one by BP/Glaxo - Elizabeth Way roundabout? Do you have any others near you? Keep watching and postering - poster in Harlow around the Common and at Potter Street,Foster Street, Sheering, Hallingbury - everywhere! It's been raining heavily so check your posters and renew if necessary. Have you checked with the council's cleansing dept for your smaller roads? Try Uttlesford, Harlow, Epping, Sawbridgeworth & Bishops Stortford councils. Call all those council's dog wardens. Some dogs end up miles from home, so you need to get word out further afield. Well done with the FB & Twitter. We'll do it this end too. Do everything in the e-mails I sent you. DID YOU RECEIVE them? Don't give up. Keep looking again thru the fields and keep postering. Have you given posters to all the schools, taxi drivers, postmen, milkmen, shops, farms, factories? Check the pubs and poster them. John Barleycorn has a pond - check that. Any neighbours with ponds? Check them. Any chickens around - dogs can be clever at surviving in the wild. You need to knock at all your neighbours. It sounds like someone has Alfie or he has got somewhere and can't get back for whatever reason. Think what could possibly have happened for him not to get back to you? Walk all the roads, check the trenches. Keep reminding the Highways people and the dog wardens. You are doing REALLY well! You deserve to get Alfie home. Keep going. You can do this! x Last edited: 2011-12-14 22:39:17 by Kimmybear - Area Co-ordinator, Essex & Hertfordshire borders

MOORHALL FARM - Do let Kimmybear know if you received her email information. Her advice is invaluable. There are a lot of very 'savvy' Doglost people working behind the scenes to find these missing dogs, but its the soldiers doing the leg-work, getting those posters around- keeping Alfies picture in people's minds thats vital in these early days. Make him too hot to handle by postering everywhere u can. Good luck from Worcestershire.

Hi, just found out from my Dad that it was him who told u about putting Alfie on DogLost, he was walking our dogs along the road on sunday and u stopped and spoke to him. As Kim said below u need to contact the highways agency as ur very near the M11 it is possible he could have wondered over that way. We had reports of Oscar being picked up running along the hard shoulder of the M11 but unfortunately we never managed to trace who picked him up. As Chelsea's Mum said below it will be a good idea to poster outside Fern Hill travellers site, my partner actually went in there looking for our Oscar but I do not advise u to do this as it really isn't a nice place. If u do get a call from a traveller saying he has ur dog and wants the reward money DO NOT hand over any money until u have seen ur dog. We had a call from a traveller who said he had Oscar and asked us to meet him up at the shop near Fern Hill(Get a poster put up in this shop as well) when we arrived he would not show his face or Oscar and asked us to leave money round the back of the shop and would then give us Oscar once he had the money, turns out he never had Oscar and just wanted our money! BE VERY CAREFUL!!! I found out later that he had done exactly the same thing to other missing dog owners in the area as well. NEVER hand over money without seeing ur dog first. When Oscar first went missing we searched all the rabbit holes, fields etc with no luck as u have, now u have done this it is time to get postering everywhere! We have been very unlucky not finding Oscar yet, most missing dogs do turn up days, weeks or even months later so I'm sure Alfie will turn up soon. I am thinking of him and really hoping for his safe return. I know how hard it is but try to stay positive, keep up the hard work and never give up, u will get him home. x

Owners, did you get my e-mails? Important information in them. x
DogLostKimmybear - Area Co-ordinator, Essex & Hertfordshire borders
Thank you Neighbark, good job! Owners, did the police give you a CRIME number or an incident number? You need a crime number for a stolen dog. And you need to pressurise them to work on this - very often they don't unless you keep on at them. You need them out there questioning and searching and putting all these missing JRs together, as helpers below have stated. Secondly, did you contact the microchip company? It does not matter whose name Alfie is in, you need to let them know he is missing, possibly stolen and then tell them you are the new owners and they will confirm with old owners etc. This way, his chip could bring him home if he got scanned. If you don't tell them he's missing it won't flag up. You need to tell ALL the vets not just local ones. I would suggest clicking on the right side of this page on the "Find any Vet" ad. Notify all vets in Essex, especially Harlow, Ongar, Chelmsford, Brentwood. If you can, talk to travellers and ask to poster at their sites, some will even let you in. Otherwise just poster outside. Do not go alone and remember they may hide dogs, but keep trying. Please be polite and tell them you are looking for your dog and how much you love him and that you will give a "cash" reward for his safe return. Some dogs have actually been returned by travellers. Speak to the older members if you can. Finally, you are near the M11 - you need to speak to the Highways dept in case a dog has been seen or found by the road - they do not scan dogs. You need to tell them as they won't notify you. Once they are aware they will keep a look out. Come on little Alfie, let's get you home baby! x
Detheo Photography
Hi. Hope this little chap is found soon. Have put poster outside little Hallingbury School. Will try to get one to HACS tomorrow if I can. Did keep a look out today when walking my boy through the fields. Don't forget to get people to check outbuildings and garages. Cats are often found locked in these places and if he is cold and lost he may have sneaked in.
Good luck and hope to hear good news soon.

Hi there i spoke to you on the phone today at mutts in distress i have shared him on my facebook page and my friends have also shared fingers x your gorgeous boy is found soon xx
Chelseas Mum
We live very near to you but I have not seen any posters yet - please poster like mad it really is the best way to spread the word. If you havent already ask the postman he is very good. We lost our German Shepherd in Feb 09 and still dont know what happened to her but really hope you get your Alfie back soon. I am sure you have been told or already know where all the local traveller camps are etc but it is worth putting a poster up at bottom Fern Hill Road and one at shops at Maunds Hatch esp if you mention a reward. If Alfie has been taken there is a good chance you may get a call. Also do think of ringing further afield as we live near the M11 it has not been unknown for a dog to get picked up on the motorway and then taken to rescue wherever the person was travelling to - which could be miles away. We found a beagle a year ago and that had come from inner London but had found its way here from along the Motorway. We travel all round the local area of will put the word out for you. Really hope you find him. x
Neighbark
come on people - read those posters -phone Alfie's owners if you've seen him please!!! Advert in local paper? deadline prob 10am tomorrow to catch this weeks paper. Have u postered in supermarkets on their notice boards? phoned all dog rescue's? keep phoning, keep postering, keep his little piccie in people's minds..... another idea - local schools, be outside when kids come out or go in. Tell kids to take leaflet back to their parents, ask school to put on their notice board, if he's found offer to make a donation to the school funds. Are there any 'nasty estates' close by? stick his poster where the hoodies and big teenagers gather, also by local shops on lamposts etc close by. Make sure REWARD is in big letters! Pushy push push - make sure local vets (must do pdsa) have his poster RIGHT iin the middle of their notice boards so all the doggie people taking their pets there - see the poster! Drs surgeries too - lots of people, all looking around inthe waiting room, ask if u can put one up there. Don't forget pet shops and dog grooming places. Good luck.

Hi, I live in Threshers Bush, High Laver so very close to u, we have also lost our dog 'Oscar' the Border Terrier cross, he went missing back in January 2011 and despite all our efforts unfortunately we have not yet been reunited with him. It is very important to poster the area as far and wide as possible. I see u have already contacted all the vets, rescues, dog warden etc but if u need anymore help or advise then please let me know. I will post Alfie on my facebook and will put some posters up for u. Good luck, I hope Alfie is home very soon.

well done, it's only by sheer hard work and never missing an opportunity to search or advertise him, - that you will get him back. Now you have to poster poster poster, PUT THE POSTERS IN POLY POCKETS TO KEEP DRY ! make him known everywhere, bus shelters, post boxes, lamp posts, pubs, supermarket notice boards, people in shops, driving instructors, etc. have u put a reward on his poster? Have u got a facebook page with his piccie on him yet? I live in the midlands, but wish I lived down there. I'd like to get all u owners of stolen dogs in the S.E. together and make a plan of action. Together you could make a lot of noise and get police and people to take more notice. What about traveller sites around your area, they are VERY BUSY working the area in the S.E. Follow advice given to you by doglost, and use the net to search for JRT for sale!!! Good luck. Loads of us watching Alfie's page and wishing you luck. P.S. put him on as many dog websites as u can, and don't forget dog rescues all around u. Last edited: 2011-12-12 12:39:58 by Neighbark

JUST SPOKEN TO 'NEIGHBARK' THANKYOU ALL SO MUCH FOR YOUR CONCERN; WE WILL GET ON TOP OF SEARCHING FOR ALFIE, AND NOW UNDERSTAND THE SERIOUSNESS OF THE SITUATION.
ALFIE WENT MISSING YESTERDAY LUNCHTIME, HE DOES OCCASIONALLY RUN OF IN PURSUIT OF RABITS BUT HAS NEVER BEEN GONE THIS LONG (HE HAS BEEN PICKED UP BY FRIENDLY NEIGHBOURS IN THE PAST). ALFIE IS TOO LARGE TO FIT IN ANY HOLES IN THE LOCAL FARMERS FIELDS.
LARGE, NEUTERED AND IS NAMED 'AS THE FAVOURITE' BY THE NEIGHBOURS. EVERYONE IS OUT SEARCHING FOR ALFIE.
DOG WALKERS AND RESIDENTS NEAR BY ARE ON THE LOOK OUT FOR HIM, IN THE HOPE WE FIND HIM SOMEWHERE.
THE LOCAL VET IS AWARE OF ALFIE MISSING.

THANKYOU ALL FOR YOUR HELP AND WE WILL TRY TO KEEP YOU UPDATED.

I will put out on blog which will automatically send to twitter, face book and on to our main website. I will also run off some posters. If the laminate is still working we can post some around the local area. Otherwise we can give some out to local shops etc. This is a critical time and we need to alert as many members of the public as possible. Come on Alfie lets get you home soon.

Kimmybear - I've just rung the owners and read your posting to them. they had no idea of the problem, but have already had THOSE visitors taking stuff from their property. Warned them to watch their other dogs and to heed your email. N.x

Owners - I am sending you an e-mail. Please ackonwledge receipt. Travellers work in this area. He could have been stolen; or could he have got out of the garden? Please speak to dog warden first thing Monday morning - tel 446111 or 446655. If you think he has been stolen contact police NOW and ask for a crime number. You need to poster heavily in this area, hundreds of posters. You need to work at this, but you can get Alfie home. Helpers we need you. xLast edited: 2011-12-12 22:31:02 by Kimmybear - Area Co-ordinator, Essex & Hertfordshire borders

Sorry to see that ALFIE is missing.
  • If your dog is microchipped please let the microchip company know that your dog is missing and check that all details are up to date.
  • Owners targeted by a malicious hoaxer demanding money for the return of their dog should phone the police on 101 immediately and contact admin@doglost.co.uk
  • A photograph of your dog is essential for the website. If you have not already uploaded one, please do so by clicking on Update details. Alternatively you can email it to admin@doglost.co.uk quoting the dog's DogLost ID number: (35206)
  • Obtain a missing poster by clicking on View poster above. Posters are very important so start postering now!
  • You will need to be logged in to upload photos, edit your dog's details, or add comments. You can add comments by clicking on Click here to add a comment.
  • Contact dog wardens, vets and local rescue centres, and in Scotland, the Police. Give a detailed description with any distinguishing marks/scars or send them a copy of your DogLost poster. You can find vets in your area here.
  • If your dog has been stolen inform the police immediately and obtain a crime reference number (CRN). Send an email to stolen@doglost.co.uk.
  • If your dog is picked up and taken to rescue kennels, it can be legally re-homed after seven days. Visit rescue centres in person and do not rely on checking by phone alone. Other people may not recognise your dog by your description, so give them a DogLost poster.
  • Keep us updated by keeping your dog's page up to date and check for posts from helpers who may have suggestions and possible matches or sightings
  • DogLost is free and anyone asking for money to find or return your dog is not volunteering for us. If you are concerned about an approach you have received, please email admin@doglost.co.uk
