I just recently started looking through the site again. Unfortunately Sophie passed away on the 11th of November 2013. I am very grateful for the extra 2 years I had with her after we was reunited. It's been almost a year now and I miss Sophie & her Brother Brucie very much. RIP to the both of you x

Thanks for the good news Neil! Wonderful that she's more or less back to her normal self and enjoying her bowls of tea!! Take care both of you XX
Neil
I think Sophie is just about back to normal now. Eating well, barking at the door, waggly tail, looks alot happier. She doesn't seem to be drinking water as well as she could but she likes a warm bowl of tea and milk. Maybe she knows she'll get the good stuff if she refuses the water.

Thanks once again to everyone for the kind support and messages x

Neil I'm so pleased that she's feeling a little better today and managing to get a bit of food down. Let's hope that each day she picks up a bit more until she's back to normal.
Neil
Sophie is advertied in today's Derby Telegraph near the back with lost pets. I tried to cancel yesterday but the papers were already being rolled out. She was going to be in the Express and Telegraph for another 3 days but the rest of those I have manage to cancel
Neil
Just to update you all a little bit. Sophie is still resting and seems comfortable. She is still drinking and has started eating but very little. She has 1 or 2 small chunks of fresh chicken at a time when we try to feed her. She seems abit brighter and even slowly got up to go to the door when the door bell rang this morning with her tail waggling.

Hopefully she'll start eating more very soon when she starts to feel better. I've phoned everyone who I phoned yesterday to let them know she is home safe and all missing posters have now been taking down. If she seems to get any worse again or no big improvements i'll demand a vet appointment and take her straight away :)

So happy for you Neil, hope she settles soon, but please think about a microchip now eh?

Neil I hope she feels better soon but it's wise to get her checked over at the vets. She may have eaten something while she's been loose that's upset her stomach so might not feel like eating or perhaps she's a bit traumatised over what's happened to her.
Neil
Sophie is home after a long 2 days and 2 very cold foggy nights. I found her at 4:05pm this evening just before it started to get dark. She wandered out right from under where I placed one of her missing posters the previous night. She is very weak and tired right now but i'm sure she'll regain her strength very soon. She has not long had a nice warm bath. Usually she hates the bath but she really seemed to enjoy this one.

I am abit concerned as she hasn't started eating anything yet. Just 2 very large drinks from her bowl which she later sicked up. Tried to get her a check up at the vets but they won't offer an appointment yet. Just told us to keep a close eye on her for now. I will post again soon letting people know how she is getting on.

Thanks to everyone that helped posting details online and for all the kind and supportive messages. It really meant alot in those 2 painful days me and Sophie suffered.Last edited: 2011-11-21 23:03:52 by Neil

If there's any helpers in this area who could put up a few posters to help Neil it would be greatly appreciated.
Neil
Been out again this morning with no joy. Time to start phoning places

Thanks for the updates Neil. She might have just run in any direction because she was frightened and may make her way back to the park area. If someone has picked her up over the weekend they might not have been able to hand her into the Dog Warden until today. Make sure that people have a photo of her rather than just a description, people remember a picture.

Don't have regrets Neil, nothing you can do now about her not having a chip etc, focus on making her as high profile as possible and try to stay positive X

Neil
Just been informed now that whan my old mate spotted her behind the navigation she darted towards town over the flyover way. Not good, I was hoping she would stay around the park area. Only plus side about town is that there are more people
Neil
Hi everyone. Thanks for the support. It has been a long day of searching with no success. Been down to the Navigation where she was spotted and nothing. Posters are now up in the area. Been down again in the car to the park carpark and round the back of the navigation pub at around 9.05pm. I did see something on it's own run across the cycle path behind the bushes as we pulled up. I was not quick enough out of the car but walked around calling her name. It may have been a fox :(

Tomorrow morning I plan to get up early and go take a look around again for a shorter time. Then it's time to get back home, phone the radio station, vets and anything else I can think of. Thank you Sue for the list. I am heartbroken i've lost her. We have had her just over 10 years and i never thought she would ever run away scared. Her brother recently died in september so i have been trying to spoil her abit.

Unforunately she has never been microchipped and has not had a dog tag for a few years. 2 of my biggest regrets now. After 10 years i thought she would never be lost. Never will i take this for granted anymore. I hope to find her soon. Once again thankyou for your continued support x

Info emailed and I've included some advice on approaching dogs when they're loose as if scared very often they don't come to their owners call. Hope there's some news soon.
Helen
We went to the place that she was sighted but no sign of her. Her owner has been there pretty much all day calling her but nothing. Put up posters this evening so that hopefully we will hear quickly if she is spotted again and maybe next time she will be still in the vicinity when we get there.
