Following new batch of ads announcing MISSING TERRIERS ALERT in the local press two phone calls from Dundee about possible sightings - one near to previous report in Craigie area of Dundee and another nearer Carnoustie. If you are out and about in these areas please ask dog walkers or keep a look out. Thank you.

Advertisements in The Courier newspaper and website, Tayside, and in Perthshire Advertiser for a week with £500 reward for safe return.

At the owner's request, the reward has been raised to £500.
scoopminime
There is a growing consensus that all things considered it seems highly likely that dogs have been lifted. Please note that a reward of £500 is now offered for their safe return to their owner.Last edited: 2011-12-17 08:55:38 by Sable - Regional Co-ordinator - Scotland

THANK YOU TO ALL YOU KIND PEOPLE WHO HAVE BEEN MAKING HELPFUL SUGGESTIONS. HERE IS MY LATEST APPEAL
Press release

Two weeks ago at 5pm on Thursday 10 November I returned home from work as usual. I opened the boot of my car to let my family of dogs out. The two younger ones made a dash for the garden gate and disappeared out of view.

I raised the alarm the next morning when they failed to return home. The local community responded vigorously, with gamekeepers, dog walkers, shooting parties and the local press all gunning for the safe return of Daphne and Minime, a mother and daughter team of two small predominantly white Jack Russell terriers.

A friend drove from Yorkshire with her CSI trained tracker dogs and we had an emotional day following the dogs’ scent which the Sniffer spaniels had picked up from their harnesses. This came to a spot in the woods which we thought might be somewhere they had got stuck. The Fire Brigade and the SSPCA came with cameras and ultrasound equipment and confirmed that there was nothing there any more.

If a terrier does get stuck it usually emerges a few day later when it has lost weight.

I am now beginning to think they must have been picked up. The only time previously that my terriers did not return from a hunting trip was when a neighbour fearing for their safety had picked them up and taken them to the police.

With days of searching and calling in our local area it seems increasingly unlikely that they are anywhere nearby. Perhaps they have been taken far away either to be kept, given away or even sold. I am devastated by their loss having bred them both and reared them from birth but I am also even more upset to think of them coming to any harm or being mistreated. There are many dog lovers who have the same fears and we do all try and be responsible and not let our dogs get away, but they do also love their freedom and following their hunting instincts.

If they have been stolen they could be literally anywhere in the country. Please go to facebook to see the full story of the Daphne and Minime Search and Rescue Campaign.

They left together and would have stayed together and it fills me with horror to think of them coming to any harm or being separated. Please could you help by reporting them if you see them anywhere and ringing Maggie on 07887803358 or taking them to your local police station.

Latest on Daphne and Minime ---
http://www.facebook.com/#!/groups/130587253716931/

What the Sniffer Spaniels started the ferrets finished. Eric of Perthshire Sporting Plus had been invited in by Brian Cowing, the chief inspector of the SSPCA, to use his ferrets to test the holes for signs of dog. Zero. No ferret is going to go zooming in and out looking as though it is having fun if there is a dog in any state of readiness, waiting for him down below. On the contrary he would stand rigid, tail bushed out in flat refusal. We have to take it that between the ultra-sound system and Eric's ferrets that Daphne and Minime are definitely not down the hole any more...even as expired beings. Tor and Suzie might have traced them to this hole, and I might have found white fur on the branch at the entrance, but if they went down this one then it looks as thought they came back out again. So whither Daphne and Minime? The search goes on.
hamish&katy
what about checking with a drain company, they use those tiny cameras down drains to check for leaks, maybe able to check the rabbit holes for you. Fingers crossed they are home soon x x

2 sniffer dogs have been brought in.
Email from Maggie - the owner of the dogs.--------
Here is an account of our day yesterday. Today I am going to dig, just to see if we can get anywhere near to hearing them or helping them escape.

A spectacular day watching Tor at work. He arrived with his owner, Sue Cole, a professional guide-dog trainer and her older dog, Suzie. Although young and a beginner, undegoing training to find live and dead bodies, he was to do the main work of the day, to save Suzie from too much exertion given her great age. She would be called in to give the benefit of her years of experience if it became obvious that she was also needed. Tor quickly picked the scent from Daphne’s harness and Minime’s collar. He tracked for five hours, following their routes across field and wood. At 4pm he momentarily seemed to lose track and Suzie was brought out. Both of them then suddenly picked up the scent and made for the same patch of wood. A hole next to a tree where Scoop, mother of Minime and grandmother of Daphne, had sat unmoving yesterday for half an hour. Tor and Suzie went into a frenzy of barking and digging, which they only do when on a scent they have tracked but cannot reach. One could not ask for a more positive sign that the two terriers were underground at this point. A phone call brought the local volunteers from the Fire and Rescue service to the scene which was now rapidly becoming enveloped in darkness. They helped to dig and enlarged the entrance to the warren considerably but said they could not do much more but that if I heard any signs of life I was to ring the SSPCA who might direct them to return in the morning.
