So sorry that Jay is missing and no news yet, I also live in a very rural area and know how hard it is to search, but poster all the local farmers, they are the eyes on the ground in this sort of area and they are very busy in fields now and I found them very helpful. also any stables or livery yards as riders can keep an eye out. My daughter found a black/white whippet lurcher near Sherburn in Elmet last week, I added to Found yesterday but not on yet, but from what she said it had quite a lot of white on its face and your dog seems very black, but maybe worth speaking to Selby dog warden or Rose Farm,Church Fenton where she was taken on 07775 662190.

TNAKS minigirl- owners alerted to check it out as Jay does have white on chest so hope they can check markings from picture on site.

Worth trying the RSPCA shelter on Water End in York? When our dog went missing, as well as posters, I put fliers through letterboxes of all the houses in the village and the nearest roads with houses and got several calls with sightings. Luton Borough Council dog warden pages lists ALL uk dog warden contacts, they have a list on their website which is really helpful to track down dog wardens in neighbouring areas. Will email my friends in Shipton (next village south) and ask them to put up poster in the village there. Vets in Easingwold would be first place I would go from there (Howells, Toft Lodge, Grants) if I found an injured dog on the A19. Hoping you have some good news soon, Dawn

Thanks Dawn !
Jay was with her owner on a farm on the outskirts of Shipton when she got an electric shock from a fence and bolted towards the A19. She was not seen to cross the A19 at this time but was sighted on the other side of the road by a farmers wife on Monday morning. Owners do not live in the immediate area but have been returning there to search for her. I have given advice about contacting dog wardens and stray kennels and also scenting and trying to start up a feeding point to keep her in the area. They are trying to get some posters up but there is a lot of open countryside to cover in this area. Hoping that Jay is found very soon x

Helo there, I'm in York city centre and walk my dog by the river, from town up to the ring road so can poster there. Just got my dog back after 3 weeks missing, I know how you'll be feeling, just let me know what I can do to help

Sorry to see that JAY is missing.
  • If your dog is microchipped please let the microchip company know that your dog is missing and check that all details are up to date.
  • Owners targeted by a malicious hoaxer demanding money for the return of their dog should phone the police on 101 immediately and contact admin@doglost.co.uk
  • A photograph of your dog is essential for the website. If you have not already uploaded one, please do so by clicking on Update details. Alternatively you can email it to admin@doglost.co.uk quoting the dog's DogLost ID number: (33041)
  • Obtain a missing poster by clicking on View poster above. Posters are very important so start postering now!
  • You will need to be logged in to upload photos, edit your dog's details, or add comments. You can add comments by clicking on Click here to add a comment.
  • Contact dog wardens, vets and local rescue centres, and in Scotland, the Police. Give a detailed description with any distinguishing marks/scars or send them a copy of your DogLost poster. You can find vets in your area here.
  • If your dog has been stolen inform the police immediately and obtain a crime reference number (CRN). Send an email to stolen@doglost.co.uk.
  • If your dog is picked up and taken to rescue kennels, it can be legally re-homed after seven days. Visit rescue centres in person and do not rely on checking by phone alone. Other people may not recognise your dog by your description, so give them a DogLost poster.
  • Keep us updated by keeping your dog's page up to date and check for posts from helpers who may have suggestions and possible matches or sightings
  • DogLost is free and anyone asking for money to find or return your dog is not volunteering for us. If you are concerned about an approach you have received, please email admin@doglost.co.uk
