Just to let everyone know that I am still looking for Prince. Had no Computer for a while but have been getting odd calls here and there, not him so far. Have had three calls of a dog which could be him, sighted in Spean Bridge area over the last 4 weeks. The last was on Bonfire day! By the time I got the message the dog had again vanished and of course the blooming fireworks will not have helped. Keep looking every night I can and have put up more posters in that area again. I will not give up on him, just can't. Thank you to everyone who has been so kind and helpful.

Thanks Connie. Have alerted owner and she has already had a look at some photos of the found dog.She thinks it looks very like Prince but may not be him. She is going to send me some photos to have a look at them.Last edited: 2011-08-13 15:39:58 by Sable - Regional Co-ordinator - Scotland

A dog matching Prince's description is with the Dog Warden in Wick, Caithness (KW1 postcode area) http://forum.caithness.org/showthread.php?152727-Tan-and-white-spaniel-type-dog-found She is Mop top in this thread and is now on annual leave but the Council phone number 01955 607737 (office hours) will have further information. I may be able to go and look at the dog in the kennels to compare with the poster if needed. Fingers crossed it is Prince, although we are a fair distance from where he disappeared.

Thanks Leona. Looks more like a collie x spaniel to me but will alert owner to have a look.

There is a red & white BC at SSPCA in Balerno - it doesnt look like the same dog from the photos but perhaps the owner could double check - all the best for getting gorgeous Prince back

Still tweeting Prince....he is so distinctive......hopefully someone may spot him. Twitter are like virtual/cyber posters that can reach people all over. We have quite a following in Scotland so stay strong.

Hello, just a brief update. Have been chasing up such a lot of phone calls with found or sighted dogs....sadly none, so far, have been Prince. I have been to so many different places and met a lot of very kind and concerned people, it does restore faith in human nature. I cannot and will not give up hope on him. Will continue the search. Thank you to all who are concerned.

Hello folks, sorry I have not been on to update. Have been so busy with reported sightings, checking details, contacting Dog Warden, talking to Press and so on. Sadly none of the reported sightings have been Prince but we have managed to help a couple of other dogs in distress and get them back to their owners! We have been very well supported by the local Press and also the Press & Journal today, that covers a large area of Scotland. Kimmybear, thank you for all the suggestions. Where I live is very, very, rural. There is no through road. My nearest neighbours are about 7 miles in one direction and about a mile in the other. There is a Loch not far, but he is used to the Loch and loves a swim, particularly with his sister Holly and Isla a doggy friend. I have about 85 Posters up around Loch Ness and also the area behind where I live, which is over hills and mountains but apparently over the years a couple of working dogs that have got lost here have ended up over there so I have postered all that area as well, Estates, Crofts, the Pubs, the Shop and Post office, as I have all the way there and the nearest village as well. As Sable says, in the begining he followed people twice and ended up where people were able to phone me to go and get him, but those episodes seemed to frighten him a bit as he was very 'clingy' after those experiences. The local monthly paper for that area has also done a feature on him this month. I would like to thank all the people who have phoned with either help, information or support. It is so much appreciated. It has also been great that we have been able to help a couple of other dogs as well. Although my aim is to find Prince I could not just turn my back on any other dogs in trouble. Riverlady, thank you for 'tweeting'! I have enough trouble with technology as it is, don't think I could cope with twittering as well! Lol

Owner has done lots to find Prince and yes it is possible he has got out of the garden and followed someone who may have kept him. He had gone off a couple of times before this and had been brought back.

Have put Prince on twitter + will circulate.

Would Prince have got out of the garden on his own? Could a child have let him out to play with them outside? Could he have been stolen? Would it be possible? Maybe we need to think and act as though he had been stolen, just in case, although you'd need more evidence for the police to assist. Assume you have postered everywhere, but you need to make him so famous that no one can not notice him if they saw him. You may already be doing this, but you need LOADS of publicity. Posters as far out as you can. Give to taxi drivers, lorry drivers, postmen, school children, anywhere you can get them. Adverts in the press, or in shops, on as many facebooks as possible. And yes, someone could well be keeping him - sometimes they want the dog themselves or they think it is in the dog's best interests. Strange tings happen our DogLost dogs! Also, are there any dangers out that way, i.e. railways or water places. Have you checked with these and the Highways Agencies, Council depots etc. Assume you have, but I'm just thinking aloud in case anything helps you. Come on Princey, home sweetie. x

Yes - date is correct. I would not be surprised if someone has picked him up and kept him. He is GORGEOUS !!
Fiona
Is the date Prince was lost correct? It looks like he's been gone for over a month.

Thank you Sable, Jayne and Viv. His nature is just as beautiful as he is. He so deserved a chance to be loved and appreciated as, indeed, all dogs do. x

Sorry to see that PRINCE is missing.
  • If your dog is microchipped please let the microchip company know that your dog is missing and check that all details are up to date.
  • Owners targeted by a malicious hoaxer demanding money for the return of their dog should phone the police on 101 immediately and contact admin@doglost.co.uk
  • A photograph of your dog is essential for the website. If you have not already uploaded one, please do so by clicking on Update details. Alternatively you can email it to admin@doglost.co.uk quoting the dog's DogLost ID number: (30836)
  • Obtain a missing poster by clicking on View poster above. Posters are very important so start postering now!
  • You will need to be logged in to upload photos, edit your dog's details, or add comments. You can add comments by clicking on Click here to add a comment.
  • Contact dog wardens, vets and local rescue centres, and in Scotland, the Police. Give a detailed description with any distinguishing marks/scars or send them a copy of your DogLost poster. You can find vets in your area here.
  • If your dog has been stolen inform the police immediately and obtain a crime reference number (CRN). Send an email to stolen@doglost.co.uk.
  • If your dog is picked up and taken to rescue kennels, it can be legally re-homed after seven days. Visit rescue centres in person and do not rely on checking by phone alone. Other people may not recognise your dog by your description, so give them a DogLost poster.
  • Keep us updated by keeping your dog's page up to date and check for posts from helpers who may have suggestions and possible matches or sightings
  • DogLost is free and anyone asking for money to find or return your dog is not volunteering for us. If you are concerned about an approach you have received, please email admin@doglost.co.uk
