Thank you Phoebe, it was so lovely to work with you, and I was quite tearful when I heard the wonderful news this morning. Bless you for the call. I didnt even know little Bella, or Beanie, but my daughter and I did see her just after she went missing briefly, and I just couldnt bear to think of her lost and alone. There have been so many fantastic people helping. I just wish the same could be done for every missing dog. Mollychops, you have been amazing. Always encouraging, busy and positive. Im so impressed with Dog Lost, but pray I never have to use it myself... Little Bella, sleep well tonight in your safe home.xxx

We are back home, very tired but very happy. We were just loading up the van when the call came, so we waited to meet Bella Bean. She is very tiny and very feisty, not pleased to find other dogs had been in her house in her absence and told Wispa where to go! She has lost weight as you would expect. I am inclined to think Dan is right in his suggestion that she may have been stuck deep and frightened out of her wits among bramble thickets without seeing any way through, but after all the bramble cutting volunteers had cleared paths she may have seen a way out and legged it downhill through the fields to the farmyard where she was picked up this morning. Her ears are all scabbed with bramble scratches and so is her belly. Huge thank to Danria and Maya, Ball, Dan and dog Snuff who turned out twice to check holes, Catherine and Lynne for continuing support and advice, the park wardens who were great, and also the owners of the National Trust land just outside the park where most of the action took place. Mustn't forget the ambulance service who rescued Sue when the hornet stung her, and got the helicopter there pdq. Thank to everyone for good thoughts, prayers and Reiki which I am sure held the little mite together over the past 10 days. We are going to have a rest day tomorrow, but there is another one local to me who we may offer to go after on Sunday though I hope she will have been found by then. John and Sue were most hospitable to us, though when I saw Wispa relaxing on the sofa watching Wimbledon late last night I did think she was making herself rather too much at home.

Great news that she is back safe. Teamwork, brill. Welcome back.

Tears here from me.... I am sooo relieved little bean is home, checked the site over and over again yesterday and finally one last time very late last night...all I could think of was her stuck down a hole in the dark on her own... and then this morning here she is, well done to the kids who were wise enough to pick her up this morning and not just walk on by... Welcome home little bean, you be safe now, no more wandering off it's much better at home... hope your arm is OK today and all of you are over all that clearing... wishing you all the best Jackie xxx

Beanie is home safe and well - is a little thin but very pleased to be with her siblings and am sure she is telling them all about her adventure. This clever girl travelled 3 miles through fields to the nearest built up area. Mum and Dad are overwhelmed and crying lots of happy tears as am I :) I want to thank everybody who has helped and given support and kept us all going when we didn't know which way to turn. A special thanks to Owl who has been a an absolute godsend - how could we fail with you and Wispa on side. Corrinne and Maya - thank you for all of your help. These tracker dogs are as brilliant as their handlers! All of you who have been with us on this rollercoaster journey of emotions, we could not have carried on without you. This site is an amazing organisation! Going to go and cry some happy tears now and squeeze little beanie so hard when I see her after work :)

I'm back from the search area, Owl looks exhausted, Wispa has tried to pick up a scent, but after all the rain we had it's very difficult. Good luck everyone searching, we have managed to hack back quite a bit of the undergrowth, should make the going a little easier.

ooo you sound so close! Well done Ball, thanks so much it must be such hard going . i will catch upwith POhebe and owners now and update
Ball
Been chopping brambles etc. all afternoon with the wonderful Phoebe. Exhausted! Found a hole in an area the search dogs showed interest in so Dan is going to be asked if he would check it out. Fingers truely crossed..
kcopeland
Thanks Danria - secateurs are a good shout x
danria
Could I suggest pruning shears or secateurs for the brambles, they are the very devil to cut through. I can assure all those helping that long sleeves are a must and thick gloves if you want to avoid thorns.
kcopeland
I will hopefully be there between 6 and half past - am taking shears and gardening gloves - horrid area! If anybody is unsure of the location and wishes to join us please give me a call on 07581 513 776 (also make sure your legs and arms are well covered - is very brambly and boggy in places) - thanks Kate x

First of all, sorry about any confusion which was caused by me attempting to talk to Jayne on a dying battery and poor signal with a chopper circling above! I called to ask her to find the park wardens' number so they could phone me and tell the paramedics where we were. Wardens were very kind and helpful, thank you. Dan has been in touch with us and we will be going back with him tomorrow morning. A volunteer from Bristol has been searching the area this evening. Sorry we missed you, Ball, but the site is at the bottom of that steep wood and best accessed by following a path through the meadow further down. You were wise not to attempt to go down the wood from the top. We have gone through there checking it and it is very difficult. If you would like to help, please get in touch first so we can make sure you know where to go. It is just unfortunate that you arrived in the middle of an emergency, and being at the top missed the rest of us going off in the park wardens' landrover. Thanks Jayne for your help, knew you would have the laptop handy to get number, sorry if I was garbled. It was a nightmare, thank goodness Sue is safe.
Mollychops
Just got in from work , and have not been able to post until now. Bellas mum is fine, than God, and back at home. We have been offerd help by a local terrierman Dan,[Thanks Dan !!] who has very kindly offered to come back tomorrrow to the site. Im glad Sue is OK . Owl will post in a mo more , as to what has been going on. What a day !!Last edited: 2011-06-21 20:32:21 by Mollychops

i was at there as wardens left just after the helicopter had so missed any people.im home now but if someone could meet me in the morning to atleast show me the area where she is suspected to be i CAN help. would be ideal if i could get landrover close to area as have lots of tools etc that may be needed.

and to echo the words i hope sue is ok.
Ball
Hello kcopeland, we went to the right place and walked along the top to find 2 wardens searching for Bella. The bad news was that they told me the chopper was at the bottom of the incline to air lift Bellas mum to hospital as she had been stung by a hornet! The helicopter left soon after. I asked how to get to the bottom of the steep, dense incline, as they told me a tracker dog was down there, but they advised me not to try. We did walk back and try, but could'nt find Owl or Whisper. I assumed John had left to go with Sue. My girl sensed 'things' and kept standing still, ears pricked listening and sniffing, but I wouldnt let her off and I couldnt go down or we could have both needed rescuing. Frustrating though. I am still keen to help with my girl if needed of course. Really hope Sue is OK. x
dsmith
called earlier. Dan (terrierman). hopefully will speak tomorrow and i can asses the area. if you have lost number you can contact via here.
DogLostJayne - Founder Doglost.
Had a call earlier from co-ordinator Owl...to say they had confined Bella to an area...and that a helicopter was monitoring from above...wow the things you can acheive ladies is amazing...the call said get the park ranger to call us...so called him...and he was well aware of the situation and eager to help...dont know the outcome yet....but I am sure with Owl being on the case with Whisper its only a matter of time...watch this space...
kcopeland
Hi Ball, thank you. The easiest way to get there is from the top carpark as your facing the bottom carpark - go right, through the kissing gate with a Missing Bean poster on it. Follow grass track until you see gate on right going through wood, follow fence line (keeping it on your left) next gate on left go through, follow path until you get to steps - you now have 2 options to get to the wood either the top or bottom. Follow the path uphill for the top of the beech wood - once through a another gate the wooded area is the run running to you left and the tracker dogs want to go down where the path curves slightly to the left. Or at the fork of the path at the bottom of the steps take the pathway through the trees into a field with a water trough. head to the far right corner where you will see a 3 bar wooden fence and then a loose barbed wire fence, now follow the line round to your right and you will be in a field at the bottom of a wood - this is where the trackers also pick up scent. I hope I have made sense x
Ball
I have walked my dogs this morning and I spoke to John earlier about where the tracker dogs were interested in. I am going to bring one of mine with me (she will be on a harness and is quiet) and go back up to see if she shows any special interest. She is particularly alert. I think/hope I know where John meant. x
kcopeland
Thanks Alison - my dad says that they have been in contact with you - the best number to contact them on is the number above ending in 709 if you don't already have it - good luck and thank you x

Hi, I Live in Bristol but can be with you for 7pm if I can help at all? Let me know where depending on traffic mybe earlier, post here or ring me on 07866469804 Alison
kcopeland
I've just had word that a few friends are heading up there this afternoon to see if they can sight her and I will be going up again tomorrow night with some other friends hoping for the same thing. x
kcopeland
The plan today so far as I'm aware is a couple of visits to the farms down on Greeaway Lane as this is the end that the trackers are in so going to see if any pheasant keepers or farm workers have seen her - problem is that she is a more red version of a fox so unless you know she is out there you wouldn't really think anything of seeing a red behind scurrying through :(
danria
I'm popping in every couple of hours hoping for news, the terrain is very difficult indeed! If it's not nettles, brambles and dense bushes it's boggy! Good luck for today xxx
kcopeland
Apologies for not updating last night - my internet seems to have given up! No joy last night I'm afriad although my partner is 60% sure that he saw her go through some hedges at the bottom of the wood into a field. He's not confident enough to report this as a sighting but having gone over and over in his head says that if it wasn't her it was a fox. The woodland that the tracker dogs are leading us too are very dense and very hard to get through. A friend brought up 2 gun dogs in the hopes that they could get through the bracken but prooved difficult even for them (spaniels). Fingers crossed for today x
Mollychops
IVE emailed info out thanks Rose x . Nothing as yet, last night was very difficult. Everyone is exhausted, bit are planning todays campain, atm!! Will update as I hear more.

Shared on facebook, i hope she is home soon....
kcopeland
Tracker Dogs Wispa and Mya (sp) are convinced that Bean is in the woodland - it is very overgrown and we are not ruling out that she may be caught in an old badger set underneath the nettles. Calling any able bodied people who would be willing to help - the woodland is steep from the top but accessable from the bottom - we are all aiming to get to Crickley for 6pm. Please please please come and help us find her - bring shears if you have a spare pair and I will cut pathways so that we can look everywhere in this particular part of woodland. Make sure you have good footwear and cover your arms as the nettles are 5ft in places - please pass the word - the more people the faster we can get Bean home x x

Ball - do you know if they live in the big house at the bottom of these woods? There is a house there but the only way to them that I can see if across the field - I wonder if Mollychops would be able to give Disney's owners our numbers or vice versa? It is quieter down here - less walkers so hopefully Bean is just hiding and will come out if my mum gets closer to her. Good luck today x
Ball
Thats the Lane Disney (little Border terrier) lives in. She went missing for 1 1/2 weeks (dont know exactly) a few weeks back. She was found. Her owners were frantic and I know they would help, but I think they have an electric fence (turned off when she went missing) around their large garden so she couldnt get too close if she were there. Im just off to Crickley with my 3. Good work Owl and Wispa. Where kcopeland describes is quieter, I believe, so she may (please!) be somewhere there. x
kcopeland
The area that Wispa lead us to is the Cotswold Way trail on the Greenway Lane side leading into Crickley - the wooded area is to your right if you're heading towards Crickley - there is a house in the fields at the bottom of the wood - I am going to knock there tonight when I finish work as they have a couple of barns (Keep positive Mum and Dad) x
kcopeland
Owl and Wispa - you were both amazing yesterday - both carrying on when we were all so tired. Good luck today - hoping Wispa can get her scent from the bottom of the wood, we found a way there through the fields and easier to get in and up from there. Thank you to everyone that is postering the surrounding areas - all your support keeps us positive that she will come home x

Good luck tomorrow Owl and Wispa X Please update me as you go, Its very frustrating not having a car atm knowing you are only an half hour away.PS owl, dont undersell , you are the best at tracking XX
DogLostOwl
I don't know that I would call myself an expert, Mollychops. The more you learn about tracking the more you find out how complicated the world of smells is and how little we humans know. I believe that another helper, a friend of mine, may be joining us with her dog. Hope so, 2 noses are better than one.
Mollychops
Thanks Ball. I hoping tomorrow will bring some good news. I actually emailed Disneys page to owners earlier on, as they wanted to see it. I was wondering if someone could kindly poster the Air Baloon, if not already done . I feel helpless here without my car. I so wish I could come over tomorrow , and help. Thanks again for all your help with the postering Ball XX
Ball
Hello again, I have been on Crickley as usual today, and stuck Dog Lost posters where there werent any! Mainly down the bottom where we spotted Bella on Tuesday. I also spoke to lots of walkers and handed out posters. People were concerned and very nice. Especially dog walkers of course. I am going to print out more and hand them out on Monday if shes not home by then. Praying she is of course. Wispa sounds amazing! Much sharper senses than we'll ever have! Disney, a border terrier, was lost in the same area last month for a week and a half, and she was found a mile away by someone who had seen her poster. Stay positive and we'll all keep searching x
Mollychops
A fab doglost tracker expert will be arriving tomorrow with her unstoppable dog Wispa !!. You are doing so well kcopeland , its hard when tireness takes over, Iknow you have been out most nights searching and listening, whilst its quiet. Thanks all who have helped owners poster and search . Fingers crossed she will be home soon.

Dont worry. You must be distraught at the moment. I am just going to take mine to Crickley and will obviously keep a sharp look out. Especially in the quiet areas. I will take your dads number with me of course. Praying for your dear little girl. x

Sorry Ball - in my tiredness I forgot to thank you too for all your help the day Bean went missing - all help is appreciated. We hopefully have a few of us going up tomorrow. All help with posters would be great - my dad has the details of the areas that have been covered and I think you have his number - if not it is the one ending in 709 x

Thank you ernie and animal magic - all help is so so appreciated. We have made a start looking on the Cold Slad side - I have checked the fields at the bottom of the sheer drop and started in the woods off the layby at the beginning of Cold Slad lane by the layby but too wet to get up onto the second bank - I will be going up again Sunday when it has dried. My mum and dad are going up at 4am when the bypass traffic is quiet to see if they can hear anything as the traffic noise at the Cold Slad woods is very loud - they are going to distribute posters in the surrounding villages in the day time and go back into Crickley Hill tomorrow evening.

Great work going on here ernie and Ball and animal magic, huge thanks XX will catch up with owners later and update. They are working so hard to get their little girl back.

I have just walked from the start of Crippets Lane (junction with Leckhampton Lane/Church Road up the hill, coming out in Greeway Lane then into the woods at the far side of Crickley Hill. Met a surprising number of people given how wet it was, but nobody had heard about her or seen anything unfortunately. I gave out posters and put some through letterboxes. There are a lot of farms and outbuildings round there, so several places for a dog to hide if she did go that way. I didn't have anything waterproof to put posters in but will try again at the weekend.

My daughter and I saw this little dog half an hour after she went missing. I walk my dogs there most days so if the owners would like any help distributing posters etc. I would be glad to help. I spoke to the owners so they know who we are.
Ernie
Going out to help search now. I have posted on Facebook and at work. Hope you find her soon x

Now also posted Bella's details on gumtree.com. Have emailed all the local radio stations so fingers crossed that is successful. Unfortunately I am unable to make personal calls at work but will call them tomorrow if no response.

If anyone would like to poster any areas to help - my mum will be putting a purple folder full of posters on our back gate for anybody to help themselves - please just leave a note through the front door to let us know which area has been covered. Please email me on k.copeland@hotmail.co.uk or call me on 07581513776 for the address.
Anybody who is kind enough to look - we are now checking any dips or crevices in that area that she may have fallen down and not be able to get up. We have extensively checked the far wood to the right of the car park (as you are looking towards Brockworth/Gloucester direction) which is part of the Cotswold Walk leading to Greenway Lane but have realised that she would have been able to get back up further down.

Suggest postering the other side of the main road, Birdlip, Coberley, cowley , Cockleford etc, there is a pub there called the Green Dragon, thats very popular with the locals . I wish I could come and help, but I have no car until next week

Bella has 3 siblings who have been out with my mum and dad searching in case of recognition of smells etc. I will be checking the cold slad woods and fields tonight in case she has run through Crickley Woods and down towards the cricket pitch as the road will have scared her and she may have veared off into here. The slope is very steep back into crickley from here so she may be running through here. I will also be postering and knocking doors here. Any help is more than welcome and obviously much appreciated.

Does Bella have any doggy friends who you could walk up there and tempt her out maybe?

Owners have been out again all day searching, nothing as yet. The area is closed to cars now till 6 in the morning , when they will be back again, at a quiet time of the day , when hopefully, this lovely girl will be spotted. Owners think , as I do, the amount of people on this park during the day will frighten her , and she will be hiding up someplace.Fingers crossed for tomorrow

Well done, do check the quarry I told your dad about earlier, good luck, will catch up later, off to work now x

Will do - there are two wooded areas near where she was last sighted which are steep slopes - I'm going to search tonight on the basis that she may have slipped down one and not be able to get back up - My mum is currently following a bridle path which should bring her into the woods at the bottom of the slope to the right of the car park and when I finish work I'm going to do the same with the one on the left of the car park - wish us luck - I so want her to be home with us tonight x

All the surrpunding houses neeed visiting and a poster, Then as Ive described in my email advice, move out into an increasingly larger area, doing the villages farms etc. Ive contacted the Cotswold hunt who will email out warnings, but you do need to go in person,as not all farms will be on the list.I will catch up later, after work 8ish. GOOD LUCK
zen
share on face book hope this little one is home soon

Any luck with the farms? My partner and I were thinking that we'll travel further down the hill tonight to the fields away from the footpaths in case she has run from activity and is a little too far to hear us calling - I noticed that there are two houses to the right and left of the quarry car park - are these the ones you will be calling as we won't bother them if it is?
Mollychops
emails with advice gone to both adresses now. Ownwers are back at the area now resuming the search. They have got some of Bellas bedding with them which they will leave at the point she went from. I will contact local farmers and keepers too, this is a very large rural area here. Its got bridlepaths and very popular with walkers, so hopefully she will be seen soon. There was a sighting, half an hour after she disappeared, but nothing since. There is a riding school nearby I know of and I will send the owner a poster.
