New to this so hope it is ok to leave a message to update: Downloaded the poster and have been putting them up as much as possible in my locality. Have managed to persuade some of my neighbours, friends and family to put the posters in their cars which should cover a larger area. Have taken the poster with me on walks and have been asking everyone I come across. Will keep going and really, really hope this helps. I am lucky to have my dog safe and well at home and will do anything I can to help, just ask. I cannot imagine how all the people on here feel, and honestly hope I never do, but I would do whatever I had to to get my boy back if the worst happened and it would appear to me that is all Diane is doing, nothing wrong with that. Fingers and paws crossed for a positive outcome.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

hi Diane, Glad to see all the publicity for Natasha at last - did you have any joy with the News SHopper - I am waiting for a call back from the editor, but it's looking promising. Hi Diane, good publicity at last for Natasha, just hope you get some really good news soon. Do you think you could mention doglost in your interviews as will help all our other missing dogs, as you know we all need help with the media. It has taken me 15 months to get a mention for Alfie my stolen yorkshire terrier May 19th last year. I know that any publicity I get for Alfie, I mention doglost as it helps all the others, and boy they need help, some dogs like Astrid and Bruce have been missing for over 2 years!!! Thank you all, for your concern. I have been nursing Natasha sister Topsy who has been very ill with heart problems, she missed Natasha so much as they were very close but sadly she lossed her fight for life. I am devastated and in so much pain at lossing both of my beloved dogs, I know I have got to find Natasha but just do not know where start looking - everyone in my area are still talking about her as she has been well advertised, but the urgency to find Natasha must continue I have got to find her but she could be anywhere. I have managed to get the local bus company to put up posters in there buses the manager was very understanding at my loss, so I am going to go further so see if other bus garages well be equally as helpful. thank you to everyone for there support while I have been nursing Topsy. Hi Diane, just wanted to let you know that I have certainly not forgotten you or Natasha. I think that many people take a look at the site but don't always post - I know that's what I do just to keep tabs on what's happening. I am consistently amazed at how supportive everyone is to one another and you should be assured that you have a lot of support in your quest to be reunited with Natasha. Please do not be despondent. Sorry I am not closer to you. I am attempting to help out in some small way whenever I can - we seem to have been inundated with "missing" dogs in Herts lately. I can say that whenever I am out and about the first dog that springs to mind when I see anything that looks remotely Lab/cross is Natasha. Keep with it. We're all rooting for you to find her. Diane I pray for Natasha and lots of other dogs that stick in my mind and the ones that don't along with my Dolly both night and morning. (This is a person who hasn't prayed since she was a child). I think of you often during the day and look at every dog I see in case I think it relates to any missing dog on this site. Most of my energies go into getting Dolly back, if I were lucky enough to get her back then I could devote more time to others. Keep strong and know there is a lot of goodwill being sent your way.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Diane no dog is every forgotten on Doglost, not even those on the last page. We continually scour lost and found reports, rescue websites and make sure that people know of her missing status. Help is always available at any time and the website is currently getting something like 2 million hits a month: people may not post here but it doesn't mean they haven't printed a poster or spoken to friends or also looked at dogs who might fit Natasha's description. A select few are not put forward by us for media attention: the media select the dogs and stories they want to appear - we have no control over that whatsoever - and those who have appeared in the sun, on the tv etc lately are all still looking for their dogs too, they have not miraculously appeared because of media coverage. You too have been in the local press and we continue to mention Natasha to the south london papers when they call. The mere highlighting of any dog in the media whether yours or not serves to highlight the issue of missing dogs and can only help Natasha's cause. You actually have one of the biggest hit rates on the site and one of the longest posts from helpers - each and every one willing you on and for Natasha to return - and a large number of them also suffer from the loss of their missing dogs.... that proves none of us have forgotten Natasha - we wouldn't dare!! Unfortunately new dogs do come on the site and do push older missing dogs down the line but each and every one is worth of attention - my phone certainly doesn't stop ringing from morning to late evening with calls, and every owner is desperate and can empathise with your situation and the only way to keep going yourself and to find Natasha is to poster poster and poster some more, keep calling the dog wardens, police, rescue centres, anywhere, every single day - those people on here who have had dogs missing for 1 year, 2 years, sometimes longer keep going because they know they have to, and it&#Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Diane, Im sorry if you think Natasha is being forgotten, but I find your post relating to the media a little upsetting. Its as though Doglost has control of the media, they dont, Jayne, Rachel and the Co-ordinators do there very best in trying to get the media attention for each and every dog on this site. At the end of the day, if the media dont want to publish it - they wont. Ive been regional co-ordinator for 2 years now and only ever had 2 central region dogs covered, and that was only because one had video footage of the theft of Chihuahuas (still missing) and involved violence towards the owner, the other was the first to use a medium - Mazey the missing whippet who has never been found after an bad car crash on the Motorway. Saying that though, there is nothing stopping you hounding your local papers, tv and radio (like I advised you last month) until they get fed up and cover Natashas story. Dont take NO for an answer.......I know I wouldnt.....JazziLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

this may be a way away from you Diane but I have never heard anyone in the south east mentioning NAWT on the Watford-by-Pass, if someone is out that way perhaps they could check out the dogs there, they also have a retirement home for their old timers who will live out their days with them although I don't know if that is based at Watford. I'm sure someone checks it out but as I've said I haven't heard it mentioned. Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Well Dee hope you wil be proud of me spent most of the weekend going further out with putting up posters and leaflets on cars and spent all afternoon in Bromley high street giving out 600 poster to some of the shoppers, most of them you know will be putting them in the bin but some of them you felt cared enough to take notice and actually read what was on the poster and said they would look out for Natasha, have had no news on the newspaper coverage in the Mercury they have put a police number down but when I phoned today they said they have not heard anything from anyone and deny that dogs are being stolen in my area even when I have said I have proof others are being taken they still will not omit their is a problem, and the Police woman who is handling my case is on holiday this week so I hope someone will take notice if any calls do come through, so I reminded them that I am not going to give up on Natasha and to take notice if any calls do come through for Natasha and treat it seriously, fingers x I do get that call soon. Went out last night putting up poster near this gypsie site as was advised not to go on the actual site as their has been some trouble so have put posters up in the lane very near to where they are so they sould see them and on the way back stopped everyone I saw walking a dog and gave out more posters like a woman possessed I am sure the men in white coats will be coming round soon and whisking me of to a padded cell! will be taking time of next week to try and do a wider area with posters am also thinking of another angle I can get more publicity for her I agree Sharon and Gina their must be more of a story to tell I must put my thinking cap on I no Julia would follow it up for me if another lead came up thanks again for your support I have got to find Natasha, her sister's have deteriorated so much since she went missing it is scaring me that Natasha might be going the same way so am going out with more determination then ever to find my old girl. Well... the Police have visited the person who reported Diane: after trying to call him (and of course denying this was a man to Diane after this bit was let slip) and so must've made arrangements to go round. Would you keep a dog in your house knowing the police are coming round?!! The police officer, who by now surely can only be deemed incompetent, assures Diane that they had nothing to do with Natasha's disappearance but were simply concerned about her dogs' welfare - now remember the initial report was for "not walking" the dogs: these people must be within eyesight of Diane's house. Natasha went missing in 10 minutes and does not walk far - she is 15 years old for god's sake. If these people are watching Diane's every move enough to report her for not walking her dogs but they didn't see Natasha disappear?! Are they harrassing Diane or do they know more than they say? We need to alert all local rescues again in case she has been put out on the streets: Diane is knocking on doors in her street and the one behind tonight together with Natasha's sister. You can bet that dog will sniff out her sister. This case stinks of something really really rotten. How come the police can't see that? For the record, I have had no reply to my complaint to the Commissioner for the Met Police. I commented on the lack of speed they used to deal with victims of dog crime. Seems that this lack of speed is also used in dealing with complaints. I am really really really angry about this one now... any one noticed?Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

You certainly could: I think though the "command" for this was via the HQ in West Sussex, I believe each company should have a Data Protection Officer, so I would assume (bearing in mind here the police have told me nothing which is not much less than Diane knows) that that is the person who idiotically decided that the way to deal with a potential crime is to inform the person that the police wanted to talk to them about one. I believe under the DPA if you are going to pass on information you are supposed to tell the person the information concerns that you are passing that information on. However, I am 99.9% sure that the Crime and Disorder Act and Data Protection Act override this requirement in the event of investigating a crime. Perhaps the RSPCA have not read their rule book properly? I am 100% certain however that if this were a human kidnap the same situation would not have arisen. Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Funnily enough, Diane has heard today that the RSPCA have released the information on the person who reported Diane... there are a lot of coincidences in this case! Now the police officer "dealing" (i use that word lightly) with the case is going to telephone the person who complained: and say what?!!! "did you steal a dog?" if she does, then if there is any chance Natasha is there, then she won't be after the call. Diane is complaining again: especially as the police officer told her there is little chance Diane will see Natasha again. WHAT ARE THE POLICE DOING?!!!Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Dog Theft Action have now emailed the Commissioner for the Metropolitan Police to ask him why his force is not acting on behalf of Diane in the matter of Natasha's theft. Hiya sorry only just caught up again, busy day. This is disgusting Diane... the police really aren't trying hard enough. They have the RIGHT to DEMAND this information. Simply requesting it is not enough. If necessary they have the RIGHT to walk into the HQ of the RSPCA and inspect their records. They are not acting in your best interests. I know that you feel they are trying but they simply aren't trying hard enough. They need to be openly shamed now. The Mercury will be writing a story including these facts next week and, in the meantime, whilst I know you are exhausted and completely out of energy fighting Natasha's case, now is the time to inform the police that you will require and be filling in a Police Complaints Form. Please please do do this: they are fobbing you off whilst pretending they are trying. They know the law far better than any of us do yet we've had to sit here and read the Crime and Disorder Act and the Data Protection Act and even we can see that both acts permit them to DEMAND the information as they believe it may be related to a crime. It is a crime because you have a crime number and Natasha is logged as stolen. If you don't shout and scream I shall be on the phone, pestering you.....!! In the meantime if anyone else wishes to complain again to add weight to Natasha's case, the Met Police Press office I'm sure would be a good place to start, as they have already been contacted by The Mercury.... Seem to have opened quite a can of worms re. the RSPCA. However - the whole idea is that welfare groups should work together. Also, the authorities should be co-ordinated (I know this is what we are lobbying for as a group). It's heartbreaking to read your distressing story which could be sorted I'm sure if these groups would just get together. Do you think a solicitors letter to request the information would be of any help? Isn't one of the area co-ordinators (maybe Dee?, not sure) fairly knowledgeable about legal matters. These people who are keeping your beloved dog separated from you are 'jobs worth's' not animal lovers - ValLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Val I have had many bad experiences with the RSPCA. I know this isnt the time and place but can I just tell you all something. The last straw with the Rspca with me was a srory a friend told me. He is in Lab rescue. This old lady died and left everything she had to the RSPCA(including her very old labs). They were happy to take everything of value but refused the labs. Lab rescue took them in and gave them a good as home as possible. This made me see them in a very different light, I never will give to their charity/bussiness again. What the lady left would have paid to keep these old dogs thousands of times over. She left to them because her greatest fear was her beloved pets not being cared for after she'd gone and she was slapped in the face. How could anyone be so callous. Sorry for the rant but if you do give money to a animal charity think wisely, there are mant better causes out there. Sharonxx Praying for Natasha everydayxxxxxLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

I sometimes despair of the RSPCA - they can get a bit high and mighty. I know they do some good work but in my area they are impossible to contact or to visit without an appointment. They should work more with people - we are after all fighting the same enemy. (I'll get off my soapbox now!) - ValLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Update: RSPCA not co-operating with the police and refuse to give out any information on the person who reported Diane to them - citing the Data Protection Act!! Police were not getting very far in persuading them but a phone call to them from a nice friendly journalist of ours seems to have got things moving again: the police are issuing an appeal for information about Natasha's whereabouts tomorrow (can't quite work out where the appeal is going but lets worry about that when it appears) and they say, continuing to press the RSPCA for an answer. In the meantime, no other sign of Natasha, anywhere. Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Hi Diane - Sorry I haven't been in touch - i've been on holiday! Have managed to misplace your no as i wanted to call and see if you wanted me to do anything - so just let me know if there is anything you can do - well done on getting the crime no - been thinking, have you been in touch with any animal rescue centers. My friend got her pup from Foal Farm - he had been snatched from his owner by a caring neighbour who was worried as he was being mistreated. The Rescue Centers are very cautious about speaking to people about any animals that are taken to them in case the "bad owners" turn up to get the poop pets back....but if you could explain the situ - i know its a long shot but you might just get someone understanding! kellyxxxxLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Diane this is just awful for you. I don't know what to suggest. I'ts no wonder usually law-abiding citizens take the law into their own hands. You've done nothing wrong and the authorities won't lift a finger to help you. Mention the magic words POLICE COMPLAINT FORM - it might help. So this person reported you as you didnt walk Natasha, well its completely obvious they arent walking her as fear someone will notice her. I still think it a stupid reason for the RSPCA to visit you at all. If I was you Id keep up the preaure on the police for the number. If I was a RSPCA inspector Id break the rules on this 1, its pathetic. Good luck Diane at least now you seem to have some sort of lead.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Diane.... i still can't help but feel that the workman had something to do with Natasha going missing..... and the cheek of the R.S.P.C.A i know that they have to follow up calls, but in your case i think it's mad...... and for the person to call up and say that your not walking your dogs..... that person must live close to you to know that you have had dogs and to know your address in the 1st place. Thinking of you. Take care. kerry xxxxxLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Diane, i am so sorry to hear about this. How much walking do people think that a 15 year old dog needs????? Very little if my old dog is anything to go by! He is with me all day but he certainly does not go out for walks anymore - a potter to the stables is all he can manage. I wish that i lived nearer and that there was something that i could do to help you. It does make you wonder why the police are so reluctant to follow this case up - the whole thing would explain why she has disappeared without anyone seeing her though. Good luck and am thinking of you and your family.xLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

sadly Sharon these people are protected under this stupid data protection act if they phone up to report any crualty and give out any details, but when I phoned up to check what the RSPCA wanted I had to give all my details out to them. The inspector told me he cannot give out any details and they only left a telephone no, and he cannot check it out for me as the only people who could track down the telephone number is the Police , but I am convinced that the person who made this complaint is the person who has Natasha, so I will have to be patience and keep pushing them into doing something and make sure the Police listen to me as she had so obviously been Stolen, but Mutley was found in my area so we no its not gipsy doing this so I think the same thing as happened to Natasha, but this person does not want to part with her, but if this person thinks I am going to give they better think again even the RSPCA think that the person who made the complaint has Natasha, I will keep going as I no I will get her back even if I am turning grey! Diane could the RSPCA not follow up for you. Im sure they could do a visit to the person who complained. If you make a complaint to the RSPCA you have to leave contact details. I cant believe the RSPCA would follow up such a complaint.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Yes Sharon I did read it and it does give you hope as holly was a labrador, deep down I do know I will get her back. I am following up a lead I had the RSPCA come round saying someone has complained about me saying my dogs are not being taking out for walks, the complaint went in beginning of April so am being to think that the person who put in the complaint has Natasha and feels they have a right to keep her, but the RSPCA will not give out any information on who this person is, so am having to go to the police for help to over ride that decision. Have put in another big advert which goes out for two weeks running in the local paper just to remind people I am still looking you. If anyone can help me knock on doors in my area just to see if she is being help against her will near me it would help me so much. Thanks for all your support Natasha MumX Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Jayne is it possible to mail helpers/rescues in the wider area? To say, SE postal code and DA, which are neighbouring areas? Just thinking that on the offchance someone was passing by and picked her up thinking Natasha's a stray, they may have come from either end of the A21, or A2 even to enter/leave Downham. Those two postal areas should cover both eventualities?Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

OK, Diane, you're going to start an email chain mail... email natasha's poster in an email together with her story to everyone (i mean everyone) you know. Plead with them to email everyone they know.... and so on. Anyone else reading this, you can do the same... email email email. Someone's seen this dog, someone knows where she is. Email every rescue you know, every friend you have. Get a chain going... Aside from this you helpers out there: did you know BROMLEY has the MOST helpers registered on dog lost than anywhere else in the country: so far no one local has come forward to help. Your dogs were recovered with the help of dog lost: your friends dogs were recovered with the help of dog lost: you read the story of dog lost in local papers when dogs went missing: you MUST care about dogs to be reading this. It's Natasha's turn now: PLEASE COME FORWARD AND HELP! She needs to come home and soon. PLEASE HELP.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

I have just spoken to Diane, she is desperate for help in the Downham/Bromley areas to help her poster. Someone has Natasha, she couldn't have walked far in the 10 mins she was out of sight from her home. Please cross post as widely as you can. Am also cross posting this to the forum at www.dogtheftaction.co.uk - I cannot stress how important it is for this elderly dog to get home to her mum and dad. She knows her way home to her house so must be being held against her will. Please any suggestions of any where else to contact in the area gratefully received. Downham is a very residential area, lots of people must be home during the day and someone must've seen Natasha walking the streets. If anyone can research a local radio station: by email they won't put out lost dog messages but we thought if we can find a show where you can ring in, Diane can put her story across and reach a wider audience. PLEASE all you helpers who are looking but who don't post, please please join in and let us know you are out there and can do something, even if it's tiny. If you don't feel you can add to this thread or just want to ask a question or make a suggestion, we are also on the dog theft action website as mentioned above and we would love to hear from you. Remember if anyone knows anything, there is a reward for Natasha's safe return. PLEASE HELP.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Right well i was going to suggest the door to door leafleting but you've already covered that. Thing is... everyone picks it up and might think oh the person who has her will call... how about you do another in say the 10 min radius that is blunt and asks neighbours to shop people to you? Say its been nearly a month, and no calls, and you need help from other people because whoever has her isn't giving her up. How far have you cast the net otherwise?Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Diane have you knocked on doors as well as put posters through. It is a real mystery and cant really think judt now of any new ideas. Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18
DIANE COUSINS:
the area is mainly residential with a walk way which is called green chain walk which I have walked her many times and was the first place I ran to when I discovered she was missing. they are shops near but on a main road and she would not have gone that far in the short time I noticed she was missing. I have put nearly 2000 leaflets in all the house near to me, but still no calls. What I cannot undertand is that she is not a pedigree, looks young for years but still a mature dog she has been spade so nobody can breed from her so why would anyone want her and what is so strange is that in the space of just 10-12 minutes she has just disappeared. I would pay anything to get her back so whoever has got her why do they not ask me for the reward money so they can buy their own dog- this is such a mystery, anymore thoughts do let me noLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Diane can you describe to us the area in which she went missing: is it residential, do people pass by on the way to anywhere, if so where, are there shops, etc etc. I'm just trying to think of the sort of person who would take her and where they'd be. The fact she wandered off and was elderly would really have known her way home would indicate to me that she has been taken in by someone - who probably doesn't want to give her up again... and the chances are it was someone local (ie really really local), someone in a passing car, or someone walking on their way somewhere. If we can work out who/where, we can concentrate on reaching those people who could've been there. Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

I hope we all get good news soon you are right this pain is the worst I have ever gone through. I cannot understand why I have not had any calls someone must have her, I keep putting up posters have adverts in local newspapers, the Bromely Times gave me good coverage have got poster in shops local post office parks lamp post, but have not heard anything. This one is a real mystery but I will keep going, I no I will get her back if anyone has any other suggestions that would help would be very grateful. I was thinking of putting up as the reward a few thousands pounds on more posters do you think it is a good idea it may just entice the person who has to give her upLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Yes, brilliant coverage in the Bromley Times with lots of info on Natasha and Connie and good information about the consequences of dog theft on their grieving families together with info about doglost website and to check out any acquired dog with a vet or dog warden. A really good almost 2 page spread with Connie's picture taking up a quarter of the front page and Natasha in a large picture on the 2nd! Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18
