I just wanted to let you know that I have made it home. The journey wasn't an easy one, but it didn't take too long.

Everything is so pretty here, so white, so fresh and new - I wish that you could close your eyes and that you could see it too.

Please try not to be so sad for me but try to understand - God is taking such care of me...I'm in the shelter of His hands.

Here there is no sadness, no sorrow, and no pain. Here there is no crying and I'll never hurt again.

Here it is so peaceful when all the angels sing. I really have to go for now... I've just got to try my wings.

I am so sorry for your loss and my thoughts are with you. It is very hard to lose a much loved pet at the best of time as I had to have my 17 year old dog put to sleep 4 weeks ago, but to lose one in such tragic circumstances must be devastating. RIP Lily and run free at Rainbow Bridge bless you.

I have also recieved an email from owner this morning confirming this.

It is with a heavy heart that I share the news that Lillies body was found in the forest yesterday-not far from where we lost her and close to the car park. Please accept mine and the boys gratitude for everyones help-we loved her very much and words cannot say how much we grieve her loss. One last favour-if people would be so kind as to take down any posters they come across............

Great news that there has been a sighting, if there is any more specific information about WHERE she was seen I can make sure we walk there in the early mornings and late afternoons.
Daisy
Brilliant news about the new sighting, is there anymore would could be doing to try and find her other than just keeping an eye out, what about an early evening BBQ?

Hope you can catch her soon - just wondered whether she still had her muzzle on. Liz xx

Just had an email from Lily's owner, phone call this evening from a person who was walking his dog near Morton which was startled by a large shaggy dog matching Lily's description. Owner has been to the area tonight but no sign of her again now. She had her tail tucked between her legs as Lily does when scared or confused. She appeared from nowhere and the person says there was nobody else around so it looks like Lily IS still in the same area.

Any news on Lily. I live in the area and I have been looking out for her. Where you say she went missing there used to be travellers up on the hill to the right, not sure if they are still there but my dog won't go any further than the gravel crossroads for some reason. I expect you have already been there but it was just a thought. I have also travelled along the road from Heathlands Vets to the garden centre and couldn't see anything. Keeping my fingers crossed for some news.

Merrily Harpur, author of Roaring Dorset! Encounters with big cats, had a sighting in nearby Bovington Forest reported to her the day before the Broadmayne sighting. Again this was in the distance so owner will contact the person who reported this sighting and ask if it could be Lily.

Bumped again due to the possible sighting at Broadmayne. It wouldn't be the first a dog has been mistaken for a bigcat!

I'm nearby - I'll take a poster to Broadmayne tomorrow.Last edited: 2011-03-03 17:38:27 by Bid

i am Lillies "mom". Just been told of a BIG CAT sighting in Broadmayne last week. Lily could easily be mistaken for the beast of Bodmin from a distance - anyone else heard anything similar or live nearby and could put a poster up. Will go myself asap. Thank you to everyone that has been so kind at this very bad time for us

Please could the lady who called reporting the accident please call either the owner again or call Doglost on 0844 800 3220.

I am so sorry that you haven't any positive news about Lily. Have you asked at the garden centre if anyone knows of an RTA last Tuesday, they must have lots of visitors.Have you asked if they would put a poster up asking for any information or maybe put one on the grass verge near where the accident was supposed to be asking if anyone has seen anything.I do hope that you find her safe and well very soon. x
Marley83
Hi, I'm so sorry to hear that Lily is missing. I work at Heathlands Veterinary Hospital, which is just down the road from this supposed RTA. I hope it puts your mind at rest that we have heard nothing of this - it is not uncommon for people to bring fatally injured animals to us to check if they are microchipped so I would think this dog would have been brought to us if someone had found it - we are open 24hrs a day. I hope this was not Lily - we have received an email from DogLost regarding Lily so we are all keeping an eye out. I walk my dogs in the area, so will look in my spare time too. Good Luck

How awful. It is horrible when one person says something yet no-one else seems to know anything about it. I hope it can soon be resolved for your sake and Lily's

I have just spoken to Lily's owner, we had a report last Tuesday that a black GSD had been killed near Gaulton Garden centre BUT a helper who lives nearby drove up and down that stretch of road on the Wednesday morning and all she could find was a deer. She then went to the nearest vet, only a couple miles away, and they had no reports of a dog. I sent an email to the coucil asking if a body had been picked up, again nothing. The helper and I thought it could have come from a nearby farm and been removed by the owners. The person who told me about this did not mention a muzzle. I know this is no help to the owners, they are apealing to anyone else who saw the deceased dog to contact them as they need to know if it was Lily. This would have been about 5 miles from where she went missing so she could easily have traveled that far.
annhaigh
had a call to say black labradoodle wearing a muzzle was seen dead on the verge by galtons garden centre in owermoigne last Thursday. Been to look but was dark and cannot find her - distraught! Does anyone drive up that road?
Daisy
Do we know if Lily is still missing?
Happione
We have been walking the surrounding woodlands since Monday morning. We went up yesterday morning and yesterday afternoon and no sightings. I did bump into a couple of rangers/gamekeepers working in the forest yesterday and explanined the sitation. They cover the area most days and will keep an eye out. Will keep walking the area and hopefully Lily will appear.
Shereen
Any news yet?
Bid
Local dog walking fraternity have been alerted, also the Dorset Stray dog sanctuary - one of them lives on the edge of Moreton forest and she is keeping her eyes open too. Will keep looking for her.
Daisy
My friend and I live near to the forest, she has been up there this morning looking with no luck, is there anything more we can do to help?
DogLostPoochpal - Regional Co-ordinator - South West - Police Liaison Team
I have just spoken to Lily's owner who has been out again today searching. There has been no sign of her yet, posters are up, dog wardens informed and area searched with thier other dog who has given no signs of scenting Lily. She may have been picked up and taken out of the area so lets hope her chip is read soon. She also has phone numbers on her tag. The muzzle was only used to protect wildlife, she will aproach people and is friendly.
Shereen
on the road from weymouth pass the watercrees farm, past the crossing carry on thare are two car parks,1 on right and 1 on left,....they parked in the one on the LEFT....they went about 10 minutes down the path where it junctions off up the hill..thats where she went missing,it was on the way back to the car and both dogs darted off into the undergrowth ,1 dog came back and Lily didnt.
Happione
Are there any more specific details as to where Lily was being walked when she was lost. Moreton Forest is huge and has at least 4 seperate entrances. We walk part of the forest every day, at least once, am happy to help look for her.
Daisy
I have emailed my friend who lives right next to the forest and spends a lot of time walking her Labrador there

Hope Lily is soon found x
