I know this is a long shot but a friend of mine working for Cannock Chase Forestry Commission has told me that the rangers have been trying to catch a dog roaming Cannock Chase for some time. Was originally described as a whippet but now thought to be a lurcher. No other details other than it is very thin. It's a long way from home but you never know and no other reports of a missing lurcher in Central area at the moment. I ahve also been informed this afternoon that the dog appears to be completely white in colour. Have asked my friend to inform me if they manage to capture the dog.Last edited: 2011-03-18 18:22:04 by DonnaB

We have been asked to publish this statement by the Police:
Northamptonshire Police are investigating the theft of Moxy and have
visited and spoken to his owner again today (11-Feb-2011). The details
have been passed to surrounding forces. I can assure people that we do
visit Traveller sites and I personally have recovered stolen dogs from
Traveller sites in the past where we had specific information of a
stolen dog being there. I this case there are comments on messages which
are not true and were not put on by the owner, and are not helpful in
getting the dog back. The owner has not visited the Traveller site
mentioned and therefore the report of him being assaulted is false. The
owner did visit and make enquiries at a site near to where he lost the
dog, he was not assaulted. Some people who steal dogs are Travellers and
some are not, the same is true as to the looser of dogs. It is not
helpful to the recovery of lost dogs to make false and abusive comments.
The owner wishes to make it clear that he has in no way instigated these
false stories regard him being assaulted.

There is a white lurcher in Surrey at SOS dog rescue, he is 3 years old and has been with a vets, where he was found outside. He has then been passed onto the rescue this week.

Well, these lovely people keep cropping up on here time and again. There were some travellers on our local radio the other day moaning about the programme "My big fat gypsy wedding" and how it made them look bad - in amongst the few swear words they kept using. I wanted to go on and say "well what about peoples pets you keep stealing and abusing". Unfortunately, I was in the car at the time and had no phone.

Wonder if the police have been on the site, or is this one of the one's they won't go on. We had them by us last year because of the pope's visit. When they left there was mess everywehere.

IF you have this dog give it back asap.Last edited: 2011-02-10 18:26:52

Sorry to see that MOXY is missing.
  • If your dog is microchipped please let the microchip company know that your dog is missing and check that all details are up to date.
  • Owners targeted by a malicious hoaxer demanding money for the return of their dog should phone the police on 101 immediately and contact admin@doglost.co.uk
  • A photograph of your dog is essential for the website. If you have not already uploaded one, please do so by clicking on Update details. Alternatively you can email it to admin@doglost.co.uk quoting the dog's DogLost ID number: (27938)
  • Obtain a missing poster by clicking on View poster above. Posters are very important so start postering now!
  • You will need to be logged in to upload photos, edit your dog's details, or add comments. You can add comments by clicking on Click here to add a comment.
  • Contact dog wardens, vets and local rescue centres, and in Scotland, the Police. Give a detailed description with any distinguishing marks/scars or send them a copy of your DogLost poster. You can find vets in your area here.
  • If your dog has been stolen inform the police immediately and obtain a crime reference number (CRN). Send an email to stolen@doglost.co.uk.
  • If your dog is picked up and taken to rescue kennels, it can be legally re-homed after seven days. Visit rescue centres in person and do not rely on checking by phone alone. Other people may not recognise your dog by your description, so give them a DogLost poster.
  • Keep us updated by keeping your dog's page up to date and check for posts from helpers who may have suggestions and possible matches or sightings
  • DogLost is free and anyone asking for money to find or return your dog is not volunteering for us. If you are concerned about an approach you have received, please email admin@doglost.co.uk
