Advertised in The Countrymans Weekly magazine today. I hope it brings some news.

Oh, that's a shame, thanks Owl for checking with the owners. Hoping Fiddler turns up somewhere safe and sound soon.
DogLostOwl
Thanks Ros, but it's not Fiddler as the dog in the pound has a small blaze down his nose and Fiddler has no white on his face. I've just called his people to check.
Ros
Very long shot but there's a lurcher in a pound in South Wales, without knowing the markings I can't rule him out so thought I'd better mention him: http://hope-rescue.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=10&action=display&thread=12141. If link doesn't work go to hoperescue.org.uk and go to forum and look under poundies, most recent thread.

I took Wispa there on 18th and met owners. Wispa got a strong scent round the back of the George in Youlgrave and followed it down the road to Alport, where it led off northwards along a public footpath. This led on beside the river going along the Lathkill Dale path which would eventually get to the area in Monyash where Fiddler originally went missing. However, the scent took us across a narrow stone footbridge at Lathkill Lodge and down a path on to private land. The helpful lady at Lathkill Lodge put us in touch with the gamekeeper in charge of this land. We have now permission to search there except on shoot days. There was to be a shoot next day and everyone was going to keep an eye open for Fiddler, but there was no sign so he must have moved on. He is probably running around somewhere along Lathkill Dale. There are woods either side with plenty of squirrels etc and with luck he should be able to keep himself fed. There is also shelter of various kinds - outbuildings, caves, hollows under trees. The area has been extensively postered, there are walkers using the path through the dale regularly, so let's hope someone spots him.

Any news.

I have just spoken with owners. They have done house to house leafleting, have checked with all kennels and rescues, and a possible sighting has just been called in by a lady in Youlgreave who saw a lurcher of Fiddler's description near the George inn. Owners are from Stoke on Trent. Fiddler was running in fields near Monyash 5 miles away from Youlgreave on a day out with his sister and mother. They came back but he didn't. People have been searching every day and this is the first likely sighting. I will meet owner in Youlgrave tomorrow and we will go to point of sighting and see if my dog can find his trail.
