Hi LucyL, this is just a random thought before I give up for the night. Would it be worth a plea to all dog wardens/rescues along the M11 route to check their records around that time. These ladies may have picked Oscar up because he was loose on the motorway and checked him in to one wherever they ended up. Do it in writing as that seems to get a better response and give as much detail as you can. Sorry if you have already done it, I haven't read through allthe many posts here, I hope you do find him, Good Luck x
LucyL

This could well have been your dog, he was around 2 years old with very wiry black and tan fur and was found around about the same time your dog went missing! He was picked up in Colchester and taken to West End Farm Kennels in Stowmarket. Here is a link to their website http://www.westendfarmkennels.co.uk/ I dont think he is there anymore though as he would have done his 7 days and been rehomed... Good luck, I hope it's him!Last edited: 2013-01-11 14:42:07 by LucyL

Not used this site before. On November 28th 2012 while i was on holiday the person responsible for the care of my two year old wirey border terrier accidentally left her gate open in the colchester area. I have frantically been looking for him since then. To no avail. He is black and tan. I noticed you went to stowmarket to view a dog. Do you know the name of the place this dog was. I havent slept a single night from the moment i was told hed been lost. Any information would be appreciated.

We have spoken to Harlow council and were told by a very nice man who seemed to know what he was talking about that they know nothing of a Border Terrier being found. So not sure where this information came from, may have been a prank caller!

Thanks Netty-B I have just seen your comment on Billy's page as well. I will definitely chase this up as u never know!

Oh Lucy, I am so sorry. I know you must know for certain, but remember that they change so much sometimes and they may not look like you think they should. Did you take "mum" with you? She would have known. I'm bumping up a bit for you, sorry its late, but I didn't realise. x
LucyL
We went to see this dog on saturday and sadly as we thought he wasn't Oscar :-( He was a very timid little boy and had no identification watsoever so we can all guess where he came from :-( Our search for Oscar continues... Will this nightmare ever end, just want him home, his been gone too long now :-(
LucyL
Yes much longer hair than what Oscar had but if he has been living out in the wild then he would have longer hair by now, also his mum and dad both have longer hair so we need to check it out. We have arranged to go see this dog tomorrow morning, keeping my fingers tightly crossed. I am also thinking this could be the dog that was seen in Pishiobury park a couple of weeks ago as Little Hadham isn't far from there and the dog that was seen there had a black back and hairy face just like this one. x
Jennie
I do hope its him. I thought it looked like him with longer face hair!
LucyL
East Herts dog warden has contacted me to say she has picked up a male Border Terrier near Little Hadham. Had no collar and no microchip. Looking at the photo's it doesn't look like Oscar but he was only 18 months old when he went missing and has now been missing for 20 months so he could have changed in apperance. We are going to arrange with the kennel to go see him to be sure... not getting my hopes up but fingers crossed it's our boy! x
LucyL
Thanks Kim, I will contact them as your right you just never know x

We have been over to Pishiobury Park tonight and met Sharon who kindly took us to exactly where she saw the dog. We had a search around calling Oscar and put some treats down also put some posters up along the walk but no sign of the dog tonight. We walked from the Pishiobury Park car park but if u enter from the beefeater and walk along the river it was just along there, great place for a dog to survive as lots of water and bushes also lots of rabbits about and people picnicing there sometimes leave food. Fingers crossed the dog will stay in the area and we will get another sighting soon. x
LucyL
I have spoken to Sharon and we are meeting her tonight so she can show us exactly where she saw the dog. Going to take posters with us to put up. Although a long time has passed, u never know it could be him, fingers crossed! Even if it isn't him, there is a stray dog out there that needs catching. Kim - I have checked out the one below in the found section and it wasn't Oscar. x

I have seen a black and tan dog matching this description in Sawbridgeworth (CM21) twice in the last week. He runs off into bushes when approached and wont come out. I think he has a brown collar. This day 3 years ago my Oscar was born... We had a very tramatic night as Oscar's brothers and sister were still born and Oscar was the only puppy that survived. Oscar was our little miracle. I grew extremely close to him and we developed a very special bond. I never thought I would be without him. As you all know on 8th January 2011 Oscar dissapeard from our back garden when he was just 18 months old and has not been seen since. My time with Oscar was cut short and I'm still absolutely devasted. Oscar has been missing for 18 months now and all we can do is pray that he is safe and one day he will find his way home. I still can't believe his gone and all this time has passed and still we have no answers. If only we knew what happened to him. Since Oscar went missing we have rescued a little terrier named Toby who we love to bits. He will never replace Ocsar but I'm so proud that we saved him and are giving him the best life a dog could ever wish for and that's the only good thing that has come out of this. Happy 3rd Birthday my Oscar wherever you are, wish you could be back home where u belong to celebrate your birthday. Thinking of u and Love u always... Lost but never forgotten Xx x x x

The dog found near Watford wasn't Oscar :-( No more sightings in Bobbingworth either x
DogLostKimmybear - Area Co-ordinator, Essex & Hertfordshire borders
Bumped a bit due to possible sighting. Any news on Bobbingworth Lucy? That's not far. x
LucyL
Meeting a male Border Terrier cross this afternoon that has been found near Watford, unlikely to be Oscar but you never know, fingers crossed!
LucyL
We have had sightings of a small brown terrier dog wondering on his own in Bobbingworth over the past couple of weeks, have been and searched with no luck and have postered the area. Keeping our fingers crossed it's Oscar x
DogLostKimmybear - Area Co-ordinator, Essex & Hertfordshire borders
Okay, but how about all the other sightings? Oscar could still be out there Lucy. Keep up the brill work! x
LucyL
After doing some investigating at the weekend it seems this dog probably wasn't Oscar as someone who lives near by has two terriers who are let out at night and do quite often sit in the road by the bridge so it was probably one of them that was seen. They did say it defenately wouldn't have been thier dogs over at Tilty Wood though as they are ederly and wouldn''t have wondered that far so it's still possible the dog that was seen there was Oscar x
DogLostKimmybear - Area Co-ordinator, Essex & Hertfordshire borders
Every possibility worth checking, Lucy. Can this lady put some food out same time every night to see?
LucyL
We had a phone call today of another possible sighting of Oscar in Duton Hill which is right next to Tilty where the last possible sighting was! A lady saw a dog come out of a driveway and sit in the road just by the bridge in Duton Hill, she said this could possibly have been someone's dog who lives in the area as she does sometimes see people's dogs wondering about but thought this one strange as it was at about 11.30pm so very late for a dog to be wondering outside on his own. Was it Oscar??? Who knows... but we will keep hoping! x
Unknown
Hope he is safe wherever he is.
LucyL
It was a year yesterday since my Oscar went missing, can't believe it... after everything we have done over the past year and continue to do to find him and still he isn't home and still we have no idea what has happened to him :-( We will never give up hope though and he will never ever be forgotten. x
LucyL
Thanks so much callybob, it's really good 2 know someone is keeping an eye out for him over at Tilty, Thanks
callybob
Hi Lucy, Just wanted to let you know that we walk our dogs up the turf bit by home woods at Tilty pretty much every day so are keeping our eyes open for you. I think you actually spoke to my other half when you were looking for him there (he had 2 small terriers with him) anyway definatly keeping a look out for him every time we are out with our dogs.....
LucyL
Kim, we did check the rules about traps and they do not have to be manned 24/7 but must be checked every 24 hours. x
LucyL
Just to give you all an update on the trap. Unfortunately we had no luck and have had to take the trap away as the journey over to Tilty to check the trap every day was getting to much. We haven't had anymore sightings either which is very frustrating and disappointing! We will not give up our search though as he is out there somewhere... x
DogLostKimmybear - Area Co-ordinator, Essex & Hertfordshire borders
Lucy, please remember what I advised about the trap. You must have loand owners permission and you must man the trap. Do not leave it unattended in the woods. This is for the dog's sake as well. Lets hope this dog is found and caught, and lets hope it is Oscar.
LucyL
The Border Terrier on found pages isn't Oscar but thnaks for letting me know. We haven't had any luck wiv the trap this weekend and there haven't been anymore sightings :-(
Puddies
male border terrier cross on found pages today, dont this its Oscar as not enough black on body but worth a look x
LucyL
Thanks everyone, no more news to report I'm afraid :-( We are going to poster and door drop leaflets in the area at the weekend and also going to set a trap in the woods where he was seen so fingers crossed we will catch him! I have plotted the sightings on a map and they make a triangle! I can't seem to get the google map thing to work but he has been seen in Stansted, Elsenham, Ugley Green, Newport and Tilty. The sighting on Monday was in Tilty in the woods called Home Wood. Thanks for posting the dog found in Norfolk, the picture isn't very clear so not sure, I will try to contact finder. Thanks again everyone and Oscar please come home soon! x

Hi Lucy, Any chance of plotting the locations he has been seen recently on a google map and posting the address as a comment? (maps.google.co.uk > my places > create map). Will try and take a walk over that way this weekend.
DogLostKimmybear - Area Co-ordinator, Essex & Hertfordshire borders
Lucy, keep plotting the sightings on a map - exactly as you have them. Is it a triangle? x
LucyL
Unfortunately no luck this afternoon, my Mum and Dad went searching with the man who saw him, they took Oscar's Mum with them and left lots of scent and food around so hopefully this will keep him in the area. The man is kindly going to keep putting food out for him and we are going to try and get a trap set up over there to try to catch him. This sighting was in Tilty which is next to Broxted so very close to Elseham and Ugley Green where the other sightings were a couple of months back. It sounds like this dog has been around the Tilty area for the past few weeks and the man was quite positive it was Oscar, the description matches exactly! Please please please let it be him!!! x
DogLostKimmybear - Area Co-ordinator, Essex & Hertfordshire borders
Please could alerts go out again to these areas, also please include Elsenham side of Hatfield Forest as it is possible Oscar has been going there for water. Not too far away. thanks.
DogLostKimmybear - Area Co-ordinator, Essex & Hertfordshire borders
Bumped due to sighting. Lucy, your poem made me cry. So hope this is Oscar and that you get him home. God bless. x
LucyL
We have had another possible sighting of Oscar this morning!!! Not to far from the areas he has been possibly sighted in before a couple of months back. A man called us after seeing Oscar's poster, he had heard a dog barking the past couple of nights and then he spotted the dog in a field this morning, he tried to catch it with no luck. He said the dog was very scruffy looking so could have been out for a while but still had a collar and tag on. He said it looked just like Oscar... My Dad is meeting this man this afternoon and they are going to go out searching the fields so everyone please keep your fingers crossed they find this dog and it's Oscar but even if it's not Oscar this dog obviously needs to be caught! x
LucyL

My life goes on without you but things are not the same
It's hard to hide the heartache when someone speaks your name
No matter how I spend my days, no matter what I do
No morning dawns, no evening falls

10 months today since you went missing, I miss you so much :-(

Well done Lucy. A dog is out there, let's hope it is him. x
LucyL
Another month has passed and still our Oscar isn't home :-( It has been 8 long months since Oscar went missing. The pain and heartache of losing our precious dog never goes away as we continue in our search for him. All we want is to get Oscar home with his family where he belongs. We know Oscar is out there somewhere and we will not give up until we have some answers. We pray you are safe Oscar and we will never give up on you x

We have leafleted and postered heavily in the area in Newport where the possible sightings of Oscar were but still no more news, keeping our fingers crossed though for something positive soon x
DogLostKimmybear - Area Co-ordinator, Essex & Hertfordshire borders
Excellent news, Lucy. Are you plotting these sightings on a map? Does it make a triangle at all? Maybe that lady could keep putting food out for you? If there is a regular supply of food this dog will hang around, and then we can leave a trap later on. Some foxes may have a meal too, but once this dog knows it's there, he will keep coming back as well - so hope it is Oscar! x
LucyL
Hello everyone, I'm back from my holiday now so will update you on the latest news. We have had another possible sighting this week on an estate in Newport! A lady was looking out of her upstairs window on Wednesday evening when she saw a sandy and black dog wondering around outside in the road so she went down to try to catch the dog but by the time she had got downstairs the dog had vanished! We will be going over there this weekend to leaflet drop the estate and put up more posters. Hoping and praying this dog that is out there is my Oscar and we will get him home very soon! x
DogLostKimmybear - Area Co-ordinator, Essex & Hertfordshire borders
Thank you, Jayne.xY ou know when you look at the map, it looks like this dog is travelling along the motorway route - up and down the M11, kinda thing. There should be a triangle in there somewhere, but it does make me wonder as a man saw Oscar picked up from the M11 so I wonder if they let go of him, or he escaped and that is why he is there? I hope it is him and Lucy can get him home. x

Lucy, this is fantastic news! I have e-mailed you back. Bumped due to sightings! If there are any helpers out there PLEASE, PLEASE, we need you! Oscar has been missing since January and there have been confirmed sightings of a Border Terrier in the Stansted, Ugley, Elsenham & Newport areas. He is always one step ahead of owners, so please we need all the help we can get. Lucy has done tremendously well in her searching - Oscar's face can be seen in numerous vets all over the country, in Dog magazines, in newspapers, they deserve to have him home. Lucy, we need to meet. I can meet your Dad or boyfriend if you are away. I want to work quick. I want to try something. Come on Oscar, boy, home now baby. Well done Lucy. x
LucyL
We went to Newport and Elsenham Wednesday night and put more posters up also spoke to lots of local people, asked in pubs, resturant's and shops to put a poster up and spread the word. Went to the garage where the sighting was to get more info but the lady in there had asked around and no one seemed to know anything about anyone seeing a dog hanging around there? The people in the Indian takeaway in Elsenham were the people who phoned us about the possible sighting in Ugley Green a few weeks ago and the lady said since then they have seen the dog again! Wish someone would try to catch him! We have put on the poster that there have been possible sightings in the area and if anyone sees or has seen him to call us immediately. I'm off on holiday today so won't be around or have access to the internet for a week but my Dad and boyfriend will be around if there are any more sightings, please call my Dad on 01279 439727 if you have any urgent news! Keeping my fingers crossed about these sightings although no more news yet, thinking of you always Osky x
LucyL
We have had another two possible sightings of my boy! A lady called us today saying the people in the central garage in Newport had asked her about 10 days ago if she knew of anyone who was missing a Border Terrier as they had seen one hanging around outside, she saw Oscar's poster today and put two and two together and called us. We have contacted the central garage to try to get some more info and they are supposed to be calling us back. I posted this on facebook and then someone saw my post and it jogged his memory, he was driving home from Elsenham tonight and a dog that looked like Oscar ran out from a field across the road in front of him and then just sat on the side of the road! He drives that way everyday so is going to look out for the dog again and call me if he sees him. Newport and Elsenham are both only down the road from Stansted and Ugley Green where we had the last three possible sightings so this all adds up and there is definately a stray Border Terrier out there, please please please let it be my Oscar! Going to poster heavily in these areas again tomorrow. x

Wow! Lucy that is very good. So heart wrenching for you though. Wish it had been Oscar. But, that day will come. I saw Oscar on the wall in vets in Bishops Stortford yesterday. Travellers handed him in? This is very strange behaviour? Why would they had him in? Was he sick? At least this little one will now get his forever home. I wonder if he has gone to Mutts for homing? Come on Oscar, your turn now. x
LucyL
We had a phone call last night from a vets in Harlow who had a Border terrier type dog handed into them by travellers (they have posted him on here - found ID 32005) they had checked through their lost and found records and saw Oscar so they called us, we rushed over to see if it was him but unfornunately it wasn't :-( He was a lovely little boy tho, so sad but at least he is away from the travellers now and will hopefully find a nice new home. This gives me faith that people are still looking out for my boy and never to give up hope as one day it might be him x
LucyL
We have spoken to the people at the scrap yard in Norflok and they seemed to think this dog came from a site down the road and had been hanging around there on and off for about a year so it can't be Oscar :-( x
DogLostKimmybear - Area Co-ordinator, Essex & Hertfordshire borders
Lucy, this is great news! Yes, the Stansted and Ugley sightings match up! It also matches up with the Clavering and Saffron Walden idea. Okay, next plan of action is to poster more at Ugley area and Newport too posibly, quite heavily, I think. I'll help you out as soon as I am able. I've been out that way for both you and Casper, so will continue to do what I can. Also, the scrap yard in Norfolk, well worth following up! I don't know if you've seen Dusty's page - just reunited a couple of days ago? He was taken from Hendon, London and ended up being found in Manchester. For you to hear from Norfolk means you have done exceedingly well with your publicity. When you get Oscar home, you and he will have to be DogLost publicists! :-) Lucy, I commend you in your search for Osky. Truly. Its about time you had some luck. Let's hope he's the one sighted. Can you e-mail me one of your new posters with that new wording on please? Either addy is fine. I want to get prepared. Thank you. x
LucyL
We have had another possible sighting of Oscar, a man phoned us on friday saying he had seen a small scruffy looking dog in Ugley Green at around 9.30pm on Thursday night. We went over there friday night and had a drive around, put more posters up and posted leaflets about Oscar through people's doors but haven't heard anymore since. We are thinking this could be the same dog that has been seen in Stansted a couple of times as Ugley Green is right next to Stansted, even if this dog isn't Oscar there is obviously a stray dog out there that needs to be caught so anyone who lives in this area please keep your eyes out. We also had a message this morning from a man who had seen a dog that looks like Oscar wondering around a scrap yard in Norfolk, we are waiting for him to call us back with more details.

Lucy, you are doing such a fantastic job in searching for Oscar. I hope This Morning do a regular slot for lost Dogs, we have so many! CJ (Co-Ordinator has e-mailied a number of dogs - only one was shown this morning). Let's hope with all the missing dog e-mails they will realise it is a massive thing and help further. Let's hope Oscar gets on there! Wow, are those posters still up? That is so good! :-) I am hoping to do Hockley and search for Casper too this weekend. Finers crossed for both Oscar and Casper. x
LucyL
Kim, thanks for thinking of us on Sunday and don't worry about not getting to Hockley. We made up a new poster and put another 100 up at the weekend, we went all over the place Stansted, Clavering, Dunmow and all surrounding villages plus we put some more up locally as well. We saw some of the posters you had put up in Clavering, thanks for that x
Nikki, thanks for continuing to look out for Oscar, we will never give up hope x
Reynard, thanks for your thoughts about tracking a route but it seems that these ladies who supposidly picked Oscar up could have gone anywhere in the country from the M11 and it just seems impossible to poster everywhere. I have sent out posters to all rescue centres in the country though incase he ends up with them.
ITV's This Morning are doing a missing pet appeal on their show tomorrow so I have emailed them Oscar's details and am hoping they will mention him x

Lucy, I didn't get to Hockley this weekend, but I kept thinking about you and Oscar all day, Sunday! I will get there soon. x

Hi Lucy, hope you are ok, you have been on my mind. I'm still looking out for Oscar and havent given up hope. Speak soon, Nikki MG.
LucyL
Happy 2nd Birthday to my Osky, can't believe it's 2 years since I first saw your georgeous little face and now you are gone. Miss you so much, I pray you find your way home soon. We have spent the weekend putting up new posters and went to Dartford on Saturday to check out the dog we thought could possibly be Oscar but sadly it wasn't :-( So the search for my boy continues... x
DogLostReynard
LucyL have you tried tracking the route any one would have taken from the M11 MOTORWAY, SOUTHBOUND BETWEEN JUNCTIONS 8 AND 7 and poster in those areas , I tracked just one which could lead you to Surrey for instance ,such as Guilford, Woking general areas , & Poster there as still people dont realise to report to a dog warden even if they did they probably were not aware of Oascar, just a thought?Last edited: 2011-07-22 21:43:06 by Reynard

Hi Kim, this is what we thought, he has been missing 6 months now so he could have changed, his colourings did often change when he was younger so it is possible and I imagine if he has been living outside his coat would have got thicker aswell. This is why we are going to see the dog in person, I'm sure if it is Oscar I will know straight away. x
DogLostKimmybear - Area Co-ordinator, Essex & Hertfordshire borders
Lucy, is it possible that Oscar's coulourings have changed a little as he is a bit older now? I don't know if that happens with BT's?
LucyL
There is a Border Terrier with the Dartfod dog warden which we thought could possibly be Oscar but having looked at photo's of the dog we are pretty certain it isn't him but we are going on saturday to see the dog to be sure. Wouldn't it just be the best if it was him and he could be home for his birthday! x
LucyL
It will be Oscar's 2nd birthday on sunday and we so desperately want him home for his birthday. I will be spending the weekend putting up new posters for him, I will not give up x
Capote
Hi Lucy

just checked in and sad to see your Oscar still missing. We haven't had any luck driving around and asking people about possible sightings. The poor wee fella Eddie at Mutts looks exactly like my Elsie wish we had the room to offer to take him. Im not aware of anyone else missing a border but will inform BT world and BT rescue in case
LucyL
Thanks for this Jo, I have had a look on Mutts dogs page and this isn't Oscar, his fur is too light. I can't think of anyone else in the area who is missing a Border Terrier, have u had any luck?
Jo - Area Co-ordinator, Essex
The one at Mutts did come in as a stray from Dunmow area but is chipped to Hatfield Heath, details out of date. I'm sure he is familiar...will get searching!

Lucy, Mutts have got another Border Terrier in, their one does look like a full Border but check it out on their dogs page
http://www.muttsindistress.org.uk/dogs.php

I will find out if their boy came in as stray (atm I am presuming it did from the dates available)....will get some more details too.

I was sure there was another Border in the area on here that was missing but I can't find it - ring any bells?

LucyL
Thanks everyone for all your help, Capote if you could go there tomorrow with your dogs that would be great, perhaps give out some more leaflets to people in the area. x

Unfortunately we don't have anymore news on the possible sighting in Stansted, we posted lots of leaflets trough doors and spoke to lots of local people walking their dogs so hopefully if the dog is seen again we will get a phone call. We also spoke to the local police man for that area and he said he would keep an eye and an ear out for us. Yes Kim that is the place, it's a new estate only been there a few years. x

Help requested from helpers in Stansted (& Mountfitchit), Saffron Walden, Buntingford, Birchanger & Bishops Stortford areas - all within a 5 mile radius of sighting. Forest Hall appears to be an estate, like a farm or private/public land, mid way between Birchanger and Stansted Mountfitchit. According to map there is a small pond. It is off Foresthall road. Is this the place Lucy? Let's rescue the dog whoever he is, and let's hope and pray it is Oscar! xLast edited: 2011-07-02 22:27:10 by Kimmybear - Area Co-ordinator, Essex & Hertfordshire borders

Bumped due to sighting. Fantastic news - let's hope its Oscar. Have sent scenting instructions to Lucy (owner) and been e-mailing.
LucyL
There has been a possible sighting of Oscar this morning on Forest Hall Estate in Stansted, same place as the possible sighting on 14th May, the lady said the dog didn't have a collar and looked like it could have been living rough and it was right near some waste ground. She tried to catch it but it ran off. My Dad is over there now letter box dropping leaflets to all the surrounding houses, fingers crossed! Can we bump Oscar please, thanks x
LucyL
Thanks so much Kim for everything you are doing to help find Oscar, we really appreciate it. x

Been all around Clavering, Rickley Green and postered and letterbox dropped. Also been to a few other villages there, Saffron Walden way. No luck yet, but I'm going to keep trying. Was looking out for Casper the husky, but I think it was too hot to be out at that time. I will try and do Hockley next weekend. x

Hope to go to Saffron Walden and maybe Hockley at the weekend to look for Oscar. Taking my camera and posters. If anyone lives out that way, either area, could you keep an eye out for Oscar. Maybe at a caravan park, or road cafe where lorry drivers eat. Ta. x

Lucy, you would have e-mailed me back on my work addy, so I'll check that later. Thank you. I have just e-mailed you again from my home addy. I have some info for you regarding Hockley and Saffron Walden areas. I have no idea if we are on the right track, but I for one will certainly not discount anything, we need all the suggestions and help we can get. BaileyP, that is vey good of you - we are trying to cover areas that Oscar may have travelled in the car and Clavering is one of them! Anyone out in Hockley? We need a few round there too. Sometimes all you can do is keep plodding on - with the knowledge that someone, somewhere knows where Oscar is.
LucyL
Kim - I have just emailed you, thank you for bumping Oscar due to his ad in Your Dog magazine.
Tori - I am so sorry to hear about your Jack Russells, I hope u get them back safe and sound very soon, never give up!
BaileyP - We have postered Ricking and Clavering but if you could poster some more that would be great or just keep an eye out for a dog like Oscar in your area. We have already advertised a couple of times in the Herts & Essex Observer and various other local papers.
Thanks everyone for your help in our search for Oscar x
BaileyP
Have you tried advertising in the Herts and Essex Observer and Herts Mercury - that group of newspapers covers a huge area all around Harlow/Bishop's Stortford/Hertford etc. (You have probably already done this but just a thought!)
BaileyP
I live a couple of miles from Clavering so if there is anything I can do re postering etc please let me know on here. Good luck with your search for Oscar,

Oh Lucy, how heart wrenching for you! You did right - always check no matter what the collar says. Well done for the posting in Clavering - you are still doing so well. You deserve to have Oscar back home with you NOW. We'll just keep on searching till we get him! I can get name from the lady but am not seeing her for a few weeks. So up to you. I'll do whatever I can. Well done again though. Luv Kim x
LucyL
Hi Kim, I think I've still got ur number so I will text u the name. We went to Clavering at the weekend and put some posters up around that area. We had a false alarm on Saturday, a man phoned us saying he had found a dog in Old Harlow, he had seen Oscar's poster and thought it could be him but he said the dog had a collar and tag though with an address in Sandy,Bedforshire but the phone number on the collar there was no answer. We thought this could possibly be Oscar as someone else could have taken him in and so we rushed to c if it was him. Unfortunetly it wasn't :-( This little dog has now been reunited, turns out the dog was being looked afer by someone in Old Harlow whilst it's owners were away and had escaped from the garden the night before, they were very lucky to find him as he obviously didn't know the area! The search for Oscar continues... x

Lucy, met someone yesterday with a poster of Oscar in their car. This was at Harlow Civic Amenity site. Said they are friends. Proves Oscar is still being publicised in many places! x

Oh Lucy, a name??? I didn't know that, but we were so excited at the time we couldn't say everything. I know this is really spooky, but I imagined Oscar in a similar place and when she told me what she thought, I went all goose bumpy! I've got my map out and am searching for places on there, see what we can find. Yes, keep going back to what you think, even if it doesn't look like it at first, you never know. Oh, I've gone all prickly now! :-) You are doing REALLY well, you should be proud of yourself! Go girl! x (Do you still have my mobile no? Can you text me the name? I'll try and do my own search too).
LucyL
Thanks Capote for continuing to look and spread the word about Oscar. Kim, I have been looking into what the lady told us, she mentioned Saffron Walden/Clavering and Hockley so I think we need to poster all these places. She gave us the name of a man, I have tried to find out who he is and where he lives but it's a very common name and there are lots of people with that name living in Essex. Some of the things she mentioned did sort of make sense about a place we have already checked out and we will now be checking out again. Lets hope this can lead us to Oscar... He is out there somewhere. x

Lucy, yes I know this lovely lady. Unbeknown to me, she has been praying for Oscar and has a little picture of him from the paper. I saw it yesterday. She is trying very hard for you. Its just making the connection with what she has found out, but it does make sense. I am happy to help "sniff around" these places with you if need be. You are doing so well, Oscar will be so proud of you! Kim x

Hi Lucy hope you are looking after yourself it must be so very distressing having Oscar missing so long. I am very impressed with the level of publicity you have managed to raise through all your hard work. We are still looking and telling people about him when we take our own Border out on walks to keep him as high profile as we can. Dave still carries a poster in his cab and people often comment on it and ask about Oscar. You're doing a grand job. I wish him home safely with you soon
LucyL
Hi Kim, yes a lady did phone last week and spoke to my Dad and we are following up on what she said. Do u know this lady? I'm NEVER goin to give up on my Oscar and will continue 2 do everything I can to bring him home. x

Lucy, I want to commend you on the brilliant work you are doing to bring Osky back home! Perseverence pays off. I think you are getting closer by the minute. The rest of this update is going to sound a bit cryptic, but I think you'll understand me. You need to check lorries or scrap yards/old vehicle sites where lorries come & go - not too far away from you. It may be someone you know that has Oscar, or a friend of a friend, or workmate of someone. Maybe think of someone that hasn't been around in a while? Or a place that you know of, but haven't really checked out because you didn't think he could be there? Who goes to Hockley every so often? Does any of this make sense? A lady phoned a while ago and spoke to a man, possibly your Dad? Please, remember everything that she said - please do this as soon as you can. I am happy to search these places myself as well, I just don't know where they all are. Lucy, I think you are getting closer with your publicity; someone maybe getting a bit frightened - like has alreday been said, Oscar will be too hot to handle. Oscar is waiting for you and you can find him. You are doing SO well! x
LucyL
No more news on Oscar :-( We had another phone call last Thurs from a man in Maldon who had spotted a stray terrier type dog a few times near a lake where he goes fishing. He thought it was female though and when he called the RSPCA they didn't want to know! He said he will try and get a better look at it if he sees it again. At least we know from these few possible sightings that people are taking notice of all the ads in the papers and the news is spreading. Please come home soon Oscar, we miss u so much x

I have been busy this week sorting out some larger adverts to go in local papers, Oscar will be in the Herts & Essex Observer, Harlow Star, Hertfordshire Mercury, Epping/Woodford/Waltham Guardian, Essex Chronicle, Brentwood Gazette, Braintree & Witham Times and Cambridge News over the next few weeks. Any chance we can bump him due to this publicity? Your Dog have also confirmed that they will be running a story in their July edition. Fingers crossed this publicity will bring us some news. x

Hi Nikki, No we never heard anymore about the dog that was hit... Worth a try looking for Border Terrier puppies for sale in local papers etc as your right they would be ready for sale about now if that was the case. We are planning on getting some more ads in local papers and papers further a field over the next few weeks so fingers crossed this may bring some news. x
Nikki
Hiya Lucy, Yes, never give up hope, you wouldnt be able anyway, you love them too much, I say we have a connection that will never break" hey.. Did you find out about the dog that was hit? I had marked in my calendar if Oscar was picked up for mating then the puppies would be born and ready for sale about now, perhaps we should start looking for puppies for sale in our local area. good places to look are the ones with mobile numbers advertising locally on the internet or local papers, ie gumtree, mercury, star, guardian. We should look in the Ongar papers too. worth a try hey?

Thanks Nikki, we will give u a ring sometime soon. x
Never give up hope, Oscar and Chelsea are both out there somewhere... I pray that they r both safe and one day we will find them. x

We had a phone call earlier about a dog that had been hit on the A414 near North Weald at around 5.30pm, it was small and sandy and black in colour but that's all we know. The car that hit it didn't stop but the dog was still alive and walking around on the road after it had been hit so someone probably stopped and picked it up afterwards. Unlikly it was Oscar but went to have a look anyway, walked along looking on the verges and in nearby fields but couldn't see anything. Does anyone know anything about this?
Nikki
Hiya Lucy, Just wanted to let you know, I'm thinking of you and STILL LOOKING!!! XX

Hi I know how you feel. One sighting of Chelsea was she was possibly picked up by a white van on the motorway bridge. We still hope one day to be able to post on here that she has been found. We just hope that she is happy somewhere living a life of luxury. Someone genuine could have either of them not realising people like us are still looking for them. x

Any chance we could bump Oscar??? Feel he is getting forgotten right the way down here! Thanks x
LucyL
I am praying for the day when I can write on here that I have good news but unfortunately I don't :-( Oscar is still missing and we have had no further news on him at all. I am determined to get him back home though so have been spending all my spare time contacting every Dog Rescue Centre and every Dog Warden in the country! I believe that if these two ladies did take him they could have taken him to anywhere in the country. I have come to the conclusion though that the possibility they handed him in somewhere is very slim, especially when it is believed he had his tag on which had our phone number on, it is more than likely that they have kept him themselves or sold him on. I'm trying all the Dog Rescue Centres and Dog Wardens anyway just incase and although I’ve had no luck so far a lot of them are kindly putting posters up and logging him on their records as missing so the word is spreading across the country, after all he is out there somewhere and someone somewhere knows something, we just need to find that someone! I just pray that wherever my little boy is he is safe.

I'm definitely going to write a complaint to the police, I’m so angry that they have possibly just let these ladies take my dog and haven’t even logged the incident!

I’m never going to give up on you my little Osky… x
DogLostKimmybear - Area Co-ordinator, Essex & Hertfordshire borders
The police who did this know who they are - you just need to trace them, but how? Two things to try - contact your MP, ask for his help is locating these policemen. Sometimes MPs can help sometimes it doesn't work either, but worth a try. There must be a central place whereby the messages are put up on the motorway boards - they must have this incident listed there as they did the message. That should lead you to the police who attended or passed by. WHY oh WHY, is everything so hard? How about complaints commission in police? In effect, the police lost Oscar, so you should complain. Maybe worth a try too. I won't forget you or Oscar and I still have posters to put up every so often. Thanks Kim. Jacqui, Oscar has short hair but he has been missing a while now so it could have grown or got a bit matted. Did u notice if this dog had a long or short tail?
justjacqui
Lucy,on the 'lost' page there is an 'extra image'. This picture shows much longer hair than the one on the poster. Since Oscar has been missing for quite some time now is it possible he could look more like this photo? The dog we saw in Thundridge definitely had longer hair and was like the 'extra image'.

Well done Lucy! That is so brilliant! I am so pleased. Well done with the e-mails, letters, posters. Don't forget we are here; just ask for help if you need it. We will do the best we can. I still have posters in the car. I pray for Oscar every night. x Last edited: 2011-03-03 13:23:12 by Kimmybear - Area Co-ordinator, Essex & Hertfordshire borders

Good news, The Harlow Star have run an article for us this week on Oscar appealing for information on his whereabouts so fingers crossed this brings some news! As we didn't have any luck when we called the police or highways agency I have now sent them all the details in an email so just waiting to see what they come back with. I have also sent a letter with a poster to all vets, kennels etc in a wider area explaining the situation. We are going to get some A3 posters on boards up on the motorway junctions at the weekend. Praying we get some news soon and can get our gorgeous boy home. x

Police know which stations patrol/call out to that part of the motorway, so they could e-mail all team leaders and ask them to ask all staff who they were! Why is this never simple? Keep going Lucy. If need be contact each station asking that every member of staff be asked - someone did it. Surely they are at fault for not checking out the dog! In a roundabot way, they are at fault for you not being reunited with Oscar! Tell them that! Sorry, I am starting heat up over here.

Hi, we went to Thundridge last night to where this dog was sighted and walked around for an hour or so but no luck, we took the route Jacqui had kindly marked out on the map for us and put some posters up so hopefully if the dog is sighted agian we will get a phone call. We had no luck again yesterday with the police, they don't seem to b able to trace this incident which is really frustrating as they should be able to! I have emailed newspapers, Daybreak etc... so just waiting to see if they can do anything to help publicise this.

Hi, I was the lady who reported seeing a lost dog in the Thundridge area earlier today. The group I was walking with are members from Hanbury Manor from the health club there. Many of my fellow members paticipate in walking and running classes and we often take the routes in the area that the dog was spotted. I have passed a message on to the other class instructors and asked them to keep an eye out to see if the dog appears again. If I hear any more I will post. I have also emailed Lucy a map showing where we were walking. It is mainly public footpaths. If this is Oscar I think someone familiar would have to go there since the dog is frightened and will not come close even though we tried to tempt it with food.

I am angry about the police - whether they have CCTV or not, they should know who attended and what happened to the dog! They should have ensured the dog was with its rightful owners i.e. check the vehicle registration and the tag to see if they match! Grr.... Lucy, are you checking out the last post? The A10 is connected to the A414/M11/M25. I don't know where this place is, but posters there would be VERY good! If there is a dog there, people will see the posters and phone you. Whether it turns out to be Oscar or not, at least a dog will be saved and it could very well be Oscar. It is always possible that your article/posters have been seen/heard now and they have let go of him as they are scared. Please, anyone living in that area, keep a look out for this poor little one, no matter who he is, but it could fit!

A dog very similar colouring to Oscar was seen on the footpaths around the Thundridge area - Old Church Lane, off the old A10. Dog was wet and unable to be caught as it seem frightened. Was wearing a collar and a black lead was found nearby.

Hi everyone, sorry I haven't updated over the weekend I haven't had access to the internet. I have checked out the dog on Mistley Place Park and it's not Oscar but thanks anyway Sioux. We haven't had any luck with the police or highways people but we r getting onto it again 2day, were not goin 2 give up until we get some answers! We have now got an approx time that this happened which may help them to trace the incident, it was around 11am. I'm going 2 contact all the newspapers, Daybreak etc 2day as we desperately need more publicity. We are going 2 get some updated posters done and get these up in A3 on the motorway junctions. Apparently the police only keep CCTV of the motorway for 6 days so no luck there. Thanks everyone for all your help and advice, we will definately be trying all your suggestions and fingers crossed we will get some answers soon. x

Just another thought - remember a while ago someone said they knew of a dog that had been picked up by a lorry driver on the motorway and he took it to where he was going and then handed it in as found. So really worth emailing as many RSPCA centres as you can. Hopefully the hatchback car was local but could have been traveling thru and therefore not known the area and thus taken the dog to their local rescue centre.
Capote
just been catching up on recent posts how frustrating. Jo's ideas about large posters on that stretch of motorway excellent with date of sighting and time people often make the same journey, how frustrating to get this information but not get any calls from women who picked him up. At least man rang with sighting so it sounds as if he is safe . Must really ramp up the publicity Daybreak, push Harlow Star again with this sighting, BBC London Barking at the Moon, Your Dog magazine all of them with photos and info. Your Dog have run photo's of missing dogs before and got them returned as they have a large circulation. Have posters and flyers been updated with new sighting? If so I could reposter. Have police been any further help if police transit in attendance they must have to record incident and maybe log hatchback. Long shot but do the traffic police have cameras on that stretch of motorway as you have time and date of sighting could they look at that section of tape and get hatchback registration.

Got a message on my FB group page (Doglost West Mids) There is a border terrier on Mistley Place Park http://www.facebook.com/pages/Mistley-Place-Park/113044475415451?v=wall quite thin came in on 15th Feb called Floyd. Had a look at this dog but Im not sure its Oscar, Looked a little scruffy, But worth you having a look...

We live very near matching the bridge - sorry haven't seen oscar - but when we found a dog that had been running we presume along motorway and came into our house - it got taken to kennels at Waltham abbey. Just worth a call. Good luck x x

Lucy is going to check out the dog I saw, but I think his tail was too fluffy. But what excellent ideas Jo had. Lets hope the motorway people remember something that will lead to Oscar, and, that the police trace this incident. I am glad to see Oscar bumped up today!
Jo - Area Co-ordinator, Essex
As you say lucy, the motorway sighting seems to fit, location, time etc. My heart was in my mouth when I was first reading your email about him running up the hard shoulder, but thank god he was safely caught - however, not, it would seem, by people who are interested in finding his owner. Especially if he had a tag on, and the man confirmed it, there's no excuse!

Definitely need to push the police, speak to highways, and the council dog wardens too, do that area and neighbouring ones. Then its a question of publicity.....press, posters (send to all vets in the area incase the ladies have taken/registered Oscar at one) and how about trying TV as at least that'll cover a wider area. Daybreak like their animal stories so worth a go. There is nothing to say for certain these 2 girls do or don't travel that way regularly, but lets hope they do and they're from this area. How about doing some big, A3 say posters, with a big photo of him on, and put on to some mdf and stake at the juntions off the motorway etc. I'll email you some more bits too. Lucy, I don't think it was Oscar because this dog had a very fluffy tail - also a cross - possibly with a Yorkie?? Owners are more elderly. For your peace of mind I will text you with the information, but this must be totally confidential as I no longer think can be Oscar due to the tail and this one looks fluffier generally. Also, Lucy I can't speak to you with my mobile but I can text. Am texting now on the mobile above. Kim
LucyL
Yes Kim he did have quite a long tail which turned up over the top towards his back when wagging. He always used to have his tail up and wagging! His tail isn't fluffy just short and smooth hair. Oscar does also have a black back with grey hairs mingled in so this dog does fit his description! Oscar does look quite young (he is 18 months old) and he has quite long legs. Where does this man live and wat car does he drive? I think we need to go there and check this out, like u say it may be totally innocent but u never know! Which river did u follow them along? x
DogLostKimmybear - Area Co-ordinator, Essex & Hertfordshire borders
Have spent over two hours following a dog and a man! I don't think it's Oscar, but just in case I know where he lives and what car he drives! It is Old Harlow, too. This dog's hair seems a little longer than Oscar's, but Lucy can you tell me if Oscar's tail turned up and over about 3 inches at the top, when wagging, towards his back? This is a definite crook at 3" on his tail when its up. Does Oscar's tail look fluffy or is it just short smooth hair? In the top photo it looks short and smooth but in the bottom photo, I can't tell? Is it now fluffier? Also, this dog was black over its back, but with grey hairs mingled in. He look older than Oscar, but I'm not totally sure. This poor dog and man are probably totally innocent, but he was acting a little strange, so that alerted me even more! (He was probably just an overprotective Dad!) But, he never spoke to his dog, they just walked - a very long way along the river. What really got me, was that they had gone round the bend in the river on the other side, when I first saw them and I called "Osky" and the dog came running back round the bend to see who'd called, really happy and excited! He was probably just responding to my call, nevermind what I was saying, but because of this, I needed to make certain. (And thank you Shereen! - Hope police can do something!). Lucy, speak to Jo at DogLost. She is the best person to help. I would say phone the police and give the date and time aproximately and ask if they can find out who the police officers were? It could be that the girls made out he was their's or said they would take him to the dog warden, RSPCA, whatever, so the police left it at that. Or the police may have taken him? You need them to tell you. But, the officers SHOULD have checked the owner details! Unless his tag came off just before they got him, but if the man saw it on him, it is unlikely? You need to phone them, go in the station/s, keep pestering until you know who these officers were and exactly what happened. It is their duty to tell you. From what you just said, this is a lot to go on. If they got notices on the motorway, it must be recorded as an incident somewhere in the police force! Did they get the registration of the car with the women/girls in? I postered towards Sheering this morning but have run out of posters now (I have to print them at work) and I won't be in work till Tuesday next week. Problem is, if people have taken Oscar in a car, he could be anywhere so we have to work on this. I would suggest going further afield with the posters and ask the newspaper to do a follow up based on this new information. You have to make him too hot to handle, so that they give him up. Yes, whoever picked him up should have brought him back to you! Maybe there were good intentions, that somehow didn't work out, or maybe they just fell in love with him and don't want to let him go. This does happen. We need to keep up the pressure. How far does the Gazette get distributed? Maybe we need to poster outside its distribution area. I would also phone vets further afield and all shelters that you can find. At least you know he is probably safe. We just have to keep working on this. Chin up, at least we have something to go on now. Atta girl! x Try the police first and don't let them fob you off!Last edited: 2011-02-25 00:04:27 by Kimmybear - Area Co-ordinator, Essex & Hertfordshire borders

We have had a phone call from a man who has seen a poster 2day claiming to have seen Oscar on the M11 motorway between Junction 7 and 8 on the southbound hard shoulder on Monday 10th January in the morning, this was two days after Oscar went missing so this is almost certain it was him. He pulled over onto the hard shoulder and tried to catch the dog but couldn't, this was at the Hallingbury bridge with the A1060 running underneath. He then got back in his van and followed the dog along the hard shoulder waving a cloth out the window to slow the traffic, he phoned the police who put on the motorway warning signs 'slow down animal in road' by this time he had reached the next bridge which we think is where the Sheering road goes over the top of the motorway. A vechicle then pulled over on the hard shoulder in front of the dog and two young ladies got out of a small hatchback car and managed to catch the dog. At this point a police transit van (we don't think was traffic police) pulled over to attend to the situation. The man then thought there was no more he could do as they had caught the dog and he drove off. He was certain it was Oscar and said the dog had a bone shaped name tag so this must have been Oscar! But why if our phone number is on his tag did the police or the ladies not phone us??? The man didn't know who ended up taking the dog. Atleast we now know that he hasn't been knocked over or got stuck anywhere and he is hopefully in safe hands. Can anyone give us some advice on what 2 do next??? Will the police be helpful in disclosing information about this???

Hi Kim, Thanks so much for doing some postering, its nice to know people r still helpin us. We did put posters up along this road when Oscar first went missing and we have postered Old Harlow so the poster u saw is probably one of these. Such a shame the dog u saw wasn't Oscar, he does have quite a bit of black on his back so it couldn't have been him :-( Still hopin and prayin that we will get him home soon... Missing him so much. x

Postered along from Windmill Fields, Old Harlow (saw a couloured poster near The Wayre) towards Matching Way. Actually found a dog similar to Oscar but it wasn't him as he didn't have much black on his back. Lept out of the car and approached two boys walking this dog and stroked him. He only had a few black bits. I have dropped posters in big houses along the way. I haven't forgotten you. Kim x

Have put posters up at the boarding kennels where i work (Waltham Abbey ) maybe worth having a chat to local dog groomers as he is a handstrip breed to see if anyone has bought a new dog to them for grooming, they can look so different after stripping( just an idea ) fingers crossed x

I wanted to write a bit on here about why Oscar is so special to us. It all started when we decided to try and mate our female Border Terrier cross Amber, we tried for years with no success but then one day when she was in season she decided to pay a visit to our next door neighbours male Border Terrier. We were thrilled to find out a couple of weeks later that she was expecting. On 24th July 2009 Amber gave birth to four beautiful puppies but tragedy struck as three of them never quite made it into the world as they were still born, we were devastated. But one very special little puppy did make it and we fell in love with him instantly. He was our little miracle and we named him Oscar. As you can imagine he was extremely spoilt by us all and we felt so lucky to have him, he became a very big part of our lives and bought us so much joy. He was a very affectionate little dog and would constantly lick everyone! He slept in my bed with me and would cuddle up to me all night. We used to say he was the luckiest dog in the world, he had owners that loved him dearly, had his Mum with him everyday and his Dad was only next door and would always come over and visit him for a play in the garden, he had a huge garden to run around in and basically got whatever he wanted! Then on 8th January 2011 our world fell apart when Oscar disappeared from our garden and didn’t return…

It is so unfair that he has also now been taken from us and we just can’t get our heads around why this has happened. Our whole family are missing him dreadfully and life will never be the same without him. We have this huge dark cloud hanging over us and feel until we know something about what has happened to him it’s never going to go away and we are always going to be wondering. So please if anyone knows anything or has any information about our little Osky then you must come forward, he needs to come home with us where he belongs…
Jo - Area Co-ordinator, Essex
So sorry Lucy, as others are, that there has been no news on Osky and that he's not home yet. But you have done so much so I hope that the call will come very soon to end this nightmare for you. Stay strong. x
LucyL
I think I know which kennels this is, along Weald bridge Road just outside of North Weald heading towards the Lavers there are two kennels on the left hand side, one is called Kents Farm kennels but this is a well known kennels and a bit further along there is one called Peaceful kennels which is along a unnamed track, they house greyhounds here and they are genuine. Thanks though Chelseas Mum for mentioning this, we appreciate everyone's comments as you never know.

We have dealt with the possible sighting at the travellers site and are pretty certain they do not have Oscar.

It has been a month today since Oscar went missing and we are missing him dreadfully - Oscar is a very special little dog and we are never going to give up on him but all we can do for now is hope and pray that he is somewhere safe and that one day very soon he is going to come home. We love u Osky so much and thinking of you always. Xx

Just been reading all the postings. Must say so sorry oscar not home yet. Your posters are really evident and are really necessary to keep him upper most in everyone's mind. Regarding the breeder near North Weald - I could be really off track with this - but I do remember when we were out looking for Chelsea and were postering etc near North Weald we did go up an unmade road and came across a very run down Kennels that didnt feel quite right. Couldnt put my finger on it at the time but may be worth a look. All I can remember is that is was on the left when travelling from North Weald towards the Lavers . This could be totally nothing but felt it worth mentioning. X

I am so sorry Oscar is still missing; I had so hoped he would be home by now. Well done with the Facebook. It's so hard, isn't it? I don't know what else to say, just wish he'd come home. I am sure he would come home if he could. Maybe he just went a bit far and got lost, like the Lavers, or someone has taken him in. Netty said if you had that sighting with the travellers it is best to contact the dog warden and police so as they can enter the premises and check, but they always hide the dogs that are stolen. You may need to catch them unawares, even more than once. I have no idea why travellers like to take dogs so much, but they do! Are these travellers stationary or do they actually travel? If they travel, you need to get in there asap. The fact that you had a sighting of him there is enough to get dog warden out there. If you say it was just a possible sighting they may not bother. A sighting is a sighting so use it if you can. Know that wherever he is, he loves you, always. Dogs are so resilient and can cope with so much out there, so he is probably doing fine, waiting till he can be reunited with you all. You have done so well Lucy, you deserve to get him back. Keep hoping and praying and renew the posters when needed. You can write on them "Still missing, but sighted in this area" as sometimes, I noticed, that when people see how long a dog has been missing, they don't bother so much. You need to keep that spark alive. God bless you and Oscar. Kim x
LucyL
Also Kim we are definately not ruling out travellers, we have posters up outside all the sites in the area and we no they r aware he is missing... x

Hi Kim & Nikki, we have spoken 2 the John Barleycorn and they have a poster up in the pub. He was seen out the back of the John Barleycorn by the washer upers an hour or so after he went missing which we have only found out recently but we do live right near the John Barleycorn and it has been known 4 him 2 wonder up there before... We spent the first few days after he went missing searching round all the fields out the back of the John Barleycorn and there is a track which runs along the back but there wasn't a sign of him anywhere! We have also searched the fields in Little Laver many times where he was possibly sighted but nothing... Nikki - the thatched house opposite Ashlyns farm is empty as the old lady died a few weeks ago. Thanks for the number of the owner whose dog was being sold at a car boot! And thanks for the offer of company looking, we will let u no if we need u. We have called all the dog wardens, RSPCA, vets, kennels the lot. If u could do some more investingating into the breeder at North Weald that would b great. I am trying to get an article in the local papers but haven't had anything confirmed yet, also Ive set up a group for Oscar on Facebook its called HELP FIND OSCAR! Thanks both for all ur help and advice, lets keep goin and hope we will get some news soon. We r devastated and missing him so much, we need 2 get him home! x

it was a hole by the john barleycorn where tully went missing.. also checked the house opposite ashlyns farm but no luck, have you called the epping forest dog walden, 01992 564000. We need to find this breeder near North Weald who is breeding virtually anything.. a lady at the vets said she found her dog there and he was breeding her, she was at the vets to find out if she was pregnant and she was.. the man said she thought she was a stray.. i need to do some investigating..

Hi Lucy, was looking again last night and this morning. Another option.. you know the thatched house opposite Ashlyns farm on the cross roads but the church. Check that house, looks like they are away.. also, the area behind the church, there is a pond and woodland.. another thing i discovered on this site, a little westie dog went missing in CM15 Shenfield Essex, someone spotted it being sold at a carboot sale. perhaps you could ring the owner and find out the name of the car boot sale? the number is 07768 781885 the dog is called NIKI. When I was searching, there was building going on at John Barleycorn's - I spoke to builders - think it was work to the little pond on their land. Have a check around there - don't know if it's all finished now? I would definitely NOT rule out travellers. Does pub have a poster displayed? Stick one on their door if they let you. Maybe you do need to search all the boundaries to the fields close by, especially the Lavers as it seems like these were definite sightings, especially the Saturday one. I am so glad Nikki is on board as she seems to know more about your area than us "townies" do. Well done girls. Let's keep searching. Hi Nikki, Thanks for your message, Mum said she did try to call u back earlier but couldn't get through. Thanks for taking the time to help look for Oscar. We have leafleted everyone's door in the area and asked them to check outbuildings, etc just incase he has got stuck in somewhere. We are doing everything we can think of and covering every possible option and just hopin we will get some news soon... If u could keep looking and spreading the word that would b great and lets hope we get him home very soon. x

Hi Lucy, its Nikki here from Green Edge Cottage, MG, been looking for Oscar this morning around little laver. I spotting something running down by the church but when i got there, it was a black and white cat! I spoke to your dad last night and said i would try and find out who the breeder was near north weald but came to a dead end im afraid, the vets couldnt remember the lady. i cant believe they dont remember as it was quite a story at the time. im keeping a look out for her in north weald as i do remember her dog. Anyway, the last dog to go missing in your area was a large shaggy dog called culley (not sure of spelling) and it was owned by the builder who is building the new cricket pavillion on Matching Green, well his dog went missing and they eventually found it in a hole in a neighbours bottom garden. They had dug a hole right at the bottom of their garden and had forgot to fill it in. Culley had fallen in and was unable to get out, she had been there for about 2 weeks. Another terrier had fallen into a disused swimming pool. Are there any houses closeby who have swimming pools? I scanned the area map today and spotted a chocolate factory in High Laver called Aprodite at America Farm. I contacted them and they said they have one of your posters and will carry on looking out for you. I have put some food out at the back of my drive which is being eaten but it might be the foxes. This morning I heard barking and flung open the window but it was a neighbours dog Poppy barking, god, I am racking my brain thinking of various options, but my gut feeling she has fallen in somewhere.. give me a shout if you want company looking meanwhile I'll keep looking too. Nikki (sorry for long message!)

Capote - I have replied to your email. x

Lucy, you need to be really careful about Travellers - you may want to contact the police or dog warden - they can get access but gypsies will hide the stolen dogs. You can get him back - we have had success over here with Netty and some lost dogs. Netty may be able to help as she's done this before; I'll see if she can ring you but Jotty can help you with advice. Speak to Jotty - Co-Ordinator for Essex. You may also receive calls saying they want a ramsom for your dog, make sure you see him first as they often take money and do not leave the dog behind - its how they get money 'cos they know we love our dogs. The caller may not even have your dog but make out they do. Osky may well be with the travellers - they are notorious at dog catching - try and see if you can see him when they don't know you're there. Be careful and speak to the dog warden, Jotty and Netty. Netty is my friend and DogLost helper. I'll see what I can find out from Netty. You have a lot of possibilities so keep going and you'll get him back. If you want me, maybe Netty and Capote too (?) we can come and help you search one day/night. Last edited: 2011-01-26 13:57:40 by Kimmybear - Area Co-ordinator, Essex & Hertfordshire borders

Over the weekend we have had alot of people out searching around the area where Oscar was possibly sighted but we had no luck, not a sign of him anywhere! There are just so many fields and forest areas that it just seems impossible 2 find him. The possible sighting was just up the road from Little Laver Church, near the junction. Then after we returned from our search on Saturday nite we had a phone call from a lady saying she lived near a local Traveller site and thinks she had seen a dog like Oscar in there, she said she was goin 2 go bk and have another look but we haven't heard any news from her and have tried contacting her again wiv no response so were not really sure wat 2 do about this now. We also had a phone call on Sunday from a man saying he had found our dog in Fyfield but he seemed 2 b a little strange and couldn't tell us exactly where he was in Fyfield and then when we have tried 2 call him bk we just get an answer phone with a strange voicemail so we think this was probably just a prank caller. Thanks so much everyone 4 all ur help and advice. We just pray that wherever Osky is he is safe and we will get that phone call soon and get him home. x

Excellent news Lucy! A lot of us have been in the situation you are in now, so we understand. You are not alone and we are all praying for you and little Osky. x

Hi, sorry haven't posted on here in a few days but we have had a very busy weekend searching for Oscar and have had some further phone calls about him. Im at work at the moment but will post on here 2nite 2 update u. Thanks for everything ur doing 2 help. x

Hi just returned been round Little Laver, High Laver Magdalen Laver, Matching Green, Matching Tye with our Border. We walked round the edges of the fields up to Magdalen Laver church and back but sadly didn't see Oscar saw lots of Oscar posters clearly displayed though which is good. Thought I should post in case anyone rings you with sighting of border with two scruffy people. Will try again for you if you have no luck. Let us know where exactly he was last sighted and we could start again walking from there.
Capote
I'm going now so if you get calls or sightings of a man and a woman and a border terrier it is us. We are going to walk around the area with my border bitch I will take your number, a slip lead and sausages.
Capote
Sightings are good news. Our jack Russell was missing for four nights, only a short time I know but I was beside myself as it was during very bad snow. I was hoping you would have had that all important phone call by now. Where exactly were the sightings in Little Lavers? I could drive out there with my own very dog friendly border terrier bitch and walk around if it would help, I have a slip lead and lots of hot dog sausages. Take heart these are very hardy little dogs he is probably having a whale of a time chasing rabbits. The scenting with urine you are doing and old items of clothing left where he has been last seen should keep him in the area. Are you putting out food? Last edited: 2011-01-24 10:04:10 by Capote

I'm just re-reading your sightings info - it HAS to be HIM !!!!!!! He was seen running along a field - this was no figment of the imagination. How many other dogs are out there on their own? Oh, Lucy! It has to be him. It's not the German Shepherd that's for sure! :-) (Good to let us all know about the German Shep too - people do try and check for other lost dogs if someone see one. Thanks). Last edited: 2011-01-22 20:35:17 by Kimmybear - Area Co-ordinator, Essex & Hertfordshire borders

I'm back! Have my computer again. Lucy, I doubt very much there is another "terrier type dog" on the run, so if these people have seen a dog, I very much think it must be Oscar - especially around where you live. You have done so well! As Jotty could tell you dogs turn up weeks, months, even years later, but let's get Oscar back in the next few days! I am SO PLEASED you have had sightings! As your area is much more rural than Harlow, even two or three signtings is magnificent. At least it seems like he is okay. Maybe you could try the dog cage and food trap. I'm not sure how you do this exactly, but Dog Lost people like Jotty can tell you. Are you plotting the sightings on the map? Is he doing a triangle? If they are all in the same area, he may be hanging out there and hiding during the day. Check the area very early morning, silently hide and watch. He must be trying to get food when no one's around. If you see him, be careful not to spook him - he's been living wild so may not immediately recognise you. Or, he may. Just go slow if you see him. Give him time to process it all. DogLost can tell you all you need to know more than I can. You have done really well! Oscar will be proud of you! I know it seems like forever, but it will mean nothing when you have him back. You need to do a stake out at dawn! :-) Kim x Last edited: 2011-01-22 20:29:33 by Kimmybear - Area Co-ordinator, Essex & Hertfordshire borders

We have had 2 more possible sightings of Oscar 2day in the same area but we are still not certain it is him. My Parents have been out around the area all day and evening searching but have not had any luck. We have a friend that lives in the area where he was sighted and last nite we did a urine trail from their house across the fields to the place where he was possibly sighted, we also put some of our clothing out and took our other dog wiv us whilst doin this so hopefully if it is him he will pick up the scent of something and stay in the area. Thanks so much Capote for all the postering ur doing. How long was ur dog missing for? We r goin out searching and postering again 2mo so will update u on any news... fingers crossed this dog is him and he will b home wiv us very soon. x

I'm so sorry your little man isn't home with you yet, but relieved you have had another possible sighting. I have begun postering around Harlow and Pishiobury park area in case someone has seen him or picked him up. I have asked a black taxi driver to carry a poster as well in the back of his cab to spread the word and included Oscar on my Facebook page. I hope you hear something soon. The scenting idea really works so does leaving an item of old clothing that really smells of you in an area he was last seen or sighted often a dog will circle back looking for a scent. You can top up the scent with your own urine. If you can put some in an old container and sprinkle it around the are he was seen to keep him in the same patch. Thinking of you I will continue postering tomorrow as I'm going to training classes in Spellbrook so will hand out posters there. We lost a dog and finally managed to get her home mainly through this site and postering. Keep your hopes and chins up once the word gets round you should get that all important phone call. The advert in the local papers will make a huge difference. I know only too well how hard this is but hope Oscar will be home safe with you soon.
LucyL
We went back out again last nite 2 the area where he was possibly sighted and did some scenting to try and keep him in the area but no more sightings of him yet. x
LucyL
We have had a possible sighting of Oscar this evening! The lady couldn't b certain it was him but she was sure it was a terrier type dog, she saw him running along the edge of a field at around 5pm 2nite in Little Laver, she called us straight away and we rushed down there and we have been out looking round the fields for the past few hours but no sign of him. We also had another possible sighting in Moreton but the lady seemed pretty sure it wasn't him as she said the dog was black. We have been keeping goin wiv the posters and have put leaflets through nearly everyone's door in the area, the postman has kindly helped us out wiv this. We have also put a classified ad in all the Harlow newspapers this week. Were just so desperate 2 get him home! Also wanted to mention that my Dad was driving through Carters Green nr Matching Tye last night at around 11.30pm and there was a German Shepherd in the road which then shot of down the road and in2 a bush, it could have possibly been from a house nearby but thought it worth mentioning. Fingers crossed we get some more news soon... x

Hi Jo, I have contacted the local paper 2day and am getting a classified ad put in there this week. Also been 2 the local dog training classes 2nite and given them posters 2 give out. We have already contacted Wormely Kennels so u don't need 2 worry about finding the number. Thanks Chelseas Mum 4 keeping ur eye out and passing word around! We have already contacted most of the kennels, vets, etc but if u could send me ur list of phone numbers that would b great, my email is lucyl13@hotmail.co.uk. Thanks everyone 4 all ur help and lets hope my little Osky is home very soon. x

Hi I have been keeping an eye out for Oscar and passing word round - I am just down the road from Threashers Bush - the Old Harlow/Matching Tye Direction. He could also be taken to Mutts in Distress kennels at Hallingbury -also known as Normandale Kennels. You probably already know this but if not the phone number is 01279 656633. Good Luck really hope he is home soon. I also have quite a lot of phone numbers I collected when looking for my Chelsea if you want them I can email them to you if you can post your email. x

Well done Lucy, you're doing great. When dogs go missing it does tend to vary a lot....depends on the circumstances....if they are taken in by someone, or living 'wild' for example. But the one common thing that is important is spreading the word and making as many people aware the dog is missing as possible. And that's exactly what you are doing with Oscar so keep going! Vets, kennels, dog wardens (notify all neighbouring/near councils as well) and posters. Sometimes it must seem like an endless task but posters honestly do work....it only takes the one person to see the one poster, but sadly don't know who that person is or where that poster needs to be so have to cover as wide area as possible. Have you tried the local paper - see if they will run a story or if not take out a classified ad? Get posters to local dog training centres, so they can pass around too. I've added him to the list to appear in the Countryman's Weekly magazine, DogLost gets space in there to appeal for missing dogs. Have you contact Wormely Kennels nr Broxbourne. They kennel (or certainly used to) out of hours Harlow strays. I will find the number and add to here in a mo. Keep spreading the word and I am sure you will get news soon....and always the fab Harlow helpers are doing great too. x

Hi Kim, thanks 4 ur message, we have been out all weekend putting more posters up all round the surrounding areas but still no sightings of Oscar :-( We have taken a poster 2 old Harlow Kennels 2day as well and are going 2 ring Wood Green Animal Shelters 2mo and yes we have rung round all the vets. We will definately b getting him microchipped when we get him back! Do u no if its quite common 4 dogs 2 go missing 4 this long without being seen at all? Do u have any other advice on what we can do 2 get Oscar home? Thanks Lucy
DogLostKimmybear - Area Co-ordinator, Essex & Hertfordshire borders
Me again! Well done Lucy, with the posters and the notifying neighbours. Excellent work. Apparently dogs do a triangle thing, so if you scent the place he was seen at, it could well be that he will come back there as he keeps going round his triangle. Jotty can tell more than I, but I would think it is well worth scenting that place every day, even if it just keeps him around there, that's something. I'm not an expert but this could help. I'll try & look round the Lavers area soon. Keep checking in with the Kennels as they need to be reminded that he is missing. I would think your area MAY go to Old Harlow kennels, off Gilston Way. It would be good idea to get poster to them, also RSPCA and let Wood Green Animal Shelters know in Huntingdon; sometimes they go there from Bishops Stortford way. It is very important to keep telling the kennels, especially if they are Old Harlow ones. Ring every day if need be so they don't forget - some can be a bit lax. Have you rung round all the vets? When you get him back, get him microchipped just in case he decides to have a long trip again! :-) We are all rooting for you! Go girl...... Come on Osky! x
LucyL
Thanks Nina, Jo did email me some information on scenting yesterday so we will definately give this a go but it may be quite hard as we have only had one sighting of Oscar and that was on Saturday night so he could b anywhere by now! We have been out and about this morning puttin up more posters and handing out leaflets to lots of people so lets hope we have some news soon!
DogLostNina
Lucy ha nayone talked to you abour scenting to get Oscar home. If you have a look at Arthur 27323 on doglost you will see that his owner is in a similar position and is trying with some success the scenting method. Good luck.

Hi, Im the owner of Oscar. Thanks everyone for all ur comments and support. We have been out searching tonight around the area where he was sighted but no luck, he was sighted in High Laver which is a couple of miles from where we live in Threshers Bush. We have been putting up lots more posters tonight and we have put leaflets through all our neighbours doors and also know alot of people in the area so word is getting around that he is missing. Hopefully he will return or be found soon, keeping our fingers crossed. Thanks again, Lucy

That is wonderful news!!! I will go again tomorrow but I will go further past Threshers Bush to see if there are any posters further out. If there are, I can look around that area as that will give me a clue as to where he could be. What has he been doing for three days and four nights? Bless him. I'll keep trying. My computer is going in for a service tomorrow so I may not be able to update but will find a way to contact you if any news. Kim x

Owners have had a sighting of Oscar, he was seen Saturday evening around 9pm in the road but would not let the lady get near him. This sighting came in today when owner's dad was putting up some posters a couple of miles from home but not far from where sighted. From this at least owners know he wasn't taken from the garden but escaped. I will make sure she knows of all your kind offers of help. Hopefully Oscar will be home very soon.

Took today off work and drove all around Threshers Bush, Foster Street, Hastingwood etc Walked thru farmer's fields with Misty and drove along the lanes. Spoke to people. I did not see one poster. Is this because owners are elderly or do not have a printer? If so I will help. Problem is, as I took today off work I can't print the posters! Didn't think beforehand! Sorry. My home printer is not running. I meant to take posters with me today - wish I had thought yesterday to do them. Area is totally in the sticks! Farms and a handful of houses dotted here and there. Owner needs to contact all neighbours, big or small, and get the word out. Oscar could be anywhere - it is so rural. Could there be rabbit holes nearby? There are many ditches alongside the country roads and there is a lot of water in the ditches - they are usually dry. Lots of bushes and hedgerows. There are smallholdings with chickens and the John Barleycorn pub. If Oscar wants food he will smell these. Saw two women who knew the owner.

Thank you June & CJ re location. Yes, I was thinking it was on the outskirts. Old Harlow, Church Langley and quite possibly Potter Street are CM17, so that would all fit. Wish I could think as I know I know of this place! Will go out tomorrow and find it. Kim

Threshers Bush. Is that in town or just on the outskirts? I know the name, but can't place it. Please can someone let me know as I can't find it on my map. I love these little dogs & Cassie had a friend like this, and so does Misty. If I can take Misty around the area, she has an excellent nose for sniffing out other dogs. I'll get some posters done and help out as much as I can. At work during the day, but can get out at night and the weekend, but hopefully he'll be back before then! Please keep us posted. Hang in there and poster everything! It is SO IMPORTANT to get those posters everywhere - really! Come on litte one, come home quick. To the owners, imagine a bright light beacon on your home calling him home. There is a lot to be said for the power of thought, I have found out. Come on Oscar. xxx
