- Sorry an update has been so long but I have only just discovered this after seeing a share of this notification. Mika was my sons dog, and it was discovered she had been taken by a neighbour. When she was found, the police would/could not do anything as my son had no proof of purchase and only a handful of photos which the police said were inconclusive evidence. They said because there was no proof, that possession was 9/10 of the law and there was nothing they could do. She is still with the mother of the man who stole her, and the only saving grace is that she is alive and well and looked after.

- Can doglost advise owner please, they have posted on their facebook page that someone in their street has Mika, but because these people have microchipped her the police won't help.
- 2011-01-11 13:44 Phoenix57
- Surely the police can track down contact details for the site owners. They seem to have quite a few websites. I have my fingers crossed for you, she looks such a sweetie.
- 2011-01-09 13:45 danria
- Owner has posted on facebook that the police have e-mailed pets4homes 4 times and have not had a response.

- I'm pushing this one like crazy on FB but am well out of the area. My son has around 1,600 friends around the country on FB and has posted to all.
Wondering if Pets at Home have any CCTV footage of someone putting the advert up?
I know the owner is very short of time she has 4 children and no car so if anyone can help in that area I'm certain it will be very much appreciated. - 2011-01-06 09:54 Shereen

- Any news on this little one? I'm looking through dog ads and rescue websites in the hope she's been handed in or picked up.

- Hi, looking through Pets4Homes: you may have checked this out but looks a bit like an edited picture of Mika

- Hi, my partner has suggested you try www.tineye.com to search for the poster image. That should tell you where else they use it to advertise and might help you track them down. Fingers crossed!

- Hi, I'm new to doglost but have been closely following the theft of Mika. This advert is not available now, it has been archived. Is it possible the thieves are watching this board?Last edited: 2011-01-12 15:19:54 by Angus

- Also this one was also posted a couple of hours ago, maybe the same person. It says they want her gone today, may also be worth checking out?

- This ad was posted today, stoke on trent so not too far from you. Unfortunately no photo but same age and breed- might be worth checking out as I know they will use all sorts of legitimate sounding stories to sell stolen dogs.. http://stoke.gumtree.com/stoke/86/71171286.html
- 2011-01-02 15:36 natalie
- I assume that if they are using the photo of Mika from here then they must know people are looking for her and may realise she's getting too hot to handle and give her up.Natalie

Have added Mika onto the above group page at the request of one of their Admin who is unable to get on FB. Fingers crossed Mika is found soon. Good luck. Jan x - 2010-12-31 21:05 visionvalue
- I've just added her to my facebook. Hope you find her soon. The more publicity the better.
- 2010-12-31 20:09 ML
- How awful. Get as much publicity as you can so if anyone does buy her they'll know she was stolen and if pets4homes won't give you any details, they would have to give them to the police. I soooo hope you get her back soon. xxx

- Bumped due to latest news.
- 2010-12-31 17:04 DebsAndGreg
- Just a thought, as you have to register on pets4homes, would they keep a record of advertisements that had been on their site? Might be worth contacting them to check. Hope you get her back soon.
- 2010-12-31 15:05 Minimummy
- They're trying to sell her, the picture in the snow has been used with advertisements on pets4homes that have now been removed.

- Have added a second photo to Mika's page for now to show her markings- note in the top photo she has "grown into" her blaze marking and it doesnt look quite as wide now, her "freckles" are more pronounced and she has what looks like grey white wisps on her ears.
- 2010-12-30 19:31 Shirley4Collies
- I have crossposted the link to Facebook and several email groups I am on .. hopefully that will mean more people on the look out - I have all fingers crossed that she is found safe and well very soon indeed. - Sorry to see that MIKA is missing.
- If your dog is microchipped please let the microchip company know that your dog is missing and check that all details are up to date.
- Owners targeted by a malicious hoaxer demanding money for the return of their dog should phone the police on 101 immediately and contact admin@doglost.co.uk
- A photograph of your dog is essential for the website. If you have not already uploaded one, please do so by clicking on Update details. Alternatively you can email it to admin@doglost.co.uk quoting the dog's DogLost ID number: (27086)
- Obtain a missing poster by clicking on View poster above. Posters are very important so start postering now!
- You will need to be logged in to upload photos, edit your dog's details, or add comments. You can add comments by clicking on Click here to add a comment.
- Contact dog wardens, vets and local rescue centres, and in Scotland, the Police. Give a detailed description with any distinguishing marks/scars or send them a copy of your DogLost poster. You can find vets in your area here.
- If your dog has been stolen inform the police immediately and obtain a crime reference number (CRN). Send an email to stolen@doglost.co.uk.
- If your dog is picked up and taken to rescue kennels, it can be legally re-homed after seven days. Visit rescue centres in person and do not rely on checking by phone alone. Other people may not recognise your dog by your description, so give them a DogLost poster.
- Keep us updated by keeping your dog's page up to date and check for posts from helpers who may have suggestions and possible matches or sightings
- DogLost is free and anyone asking for money to find or return your dog is not volunteering for us. If you are concerned about an approach you have received, please email admin@doglost.co.uk
