I know the kind finders imminent emigration is due so it would be very comforting to know what has happened to this gorgeous girl.....
Border Girl
Any more news on Eve? Hope she is ok.
Border Girl
Is there any update on the lovely Eve?
Border Girl
Yes, it was about midday. She looked lovely and from the glimpse that I got of her, she seems to have filled out slightly from the way she looks in the photo. The Christmas dinner and the love & care she is receiving have done her the world of good. I really do hope there is some good news for her soon. In the meantime you are doing a fantastic job taking care of her. I only wish I could have escaped from the bank, so that I could have made a fuss of her.
ianc
Yes, that was almost certainly her -- it would have been around midday. Dog warden's office have taken our details but are yet to call back.

I was in Hertford today. I saw a fawn whippet being walked through the town on a blue rope lead, by a woman in black. It wasn't Eve by any chance was it? I was in the bank, and by the time I left I could not catch up with the dog/owner to ask. I'm sorry to hear that the microchip did not prove successful. Any news from the dog warden? Does she have to go to the dog warden or can she be rehomed to those that have shown an interest in her?
Emma
Hi I've been following this dog you are very kind to take her in and care for her sorry to see its not the missing wippet she looks a lovely dog what will be happening to her nowxx
ianc
Back from vet, she definitely has no microchip. Also spoke to owners of lost "Sue" (ID 26736), this does not appear to be the same dog -- theirs is older, larger and has hair missing from the end of the tail.

Note lost whippet logged 11th dec. Number 26736.....stolen from home UB7 on the 9th dec. Similar description...worth checking out? Hope she gets home soon
Border Girl
So pleased to hear that she is being so well cared for - turkey and a warm fire must have been heaven for her. I hope you have some luck with the scanning when you take her to your vets, and that contact can be made with her owners. If you have no joy with the scanning, will she have to go with the Dog Warden or can she be rehomed? She looks beautiful.
Goldenfrodo
Thanks for looking after this lovely girl. Pleased she's been nice and warm over Christmas with you xx
ianc
Just to add, we'll call the dog warden when they're open tomorrow, but before that we're going to take her to our vet to scan for a microchip. I'd rather she didn't end up in kennels waiting for an owner if we can find them and have them come to pick her up since she's quite settled here at the moment.Last edited: 2010-12-28 15:01:17 by ianc

Hi all, yes Eve (as we're calling her since she came to us on Christmas Eve) is being well looked after at the moment -- we're happy to see she's starting to put a little weight on, and she's had plenty of rest (she particularly likes when the fire is going!) over Christmas as well as several good long walks. When we let her off the lead she demonstrated to us just why Whippets are excellent racing dogs, so she certainly seems to be in good health other than her malnutrition! Thanks to everyone for their concern, we'd just love to know the she can find her real owners, or at least a really good home. Ian

Thanks Border Girl. All help greatfully appreciated here, I will chase finders for a picture today. She is safe with finders atm, and has had a lovely safe warm Christmas, with turkey etc! They are emigrating in a couple of weeks theough, if an owner doesnt come forwards, I think there are a couple of people who have offered this lovely girl a home ! Dw will be contacted on Wednesday

or Mika missing since October
Border Girl
I live close by to Hertingfordbury and will ask around if anyone knows of a missing Whippet. There is a travellers site close by, I wonder if she may have come from there? Reading Mollychops first posting, am I right in thinking that she is being cared for at present? Hope there is some good news for this little one soon.

Could this be daisy missing since end of november
Mollychops
My first thought was Lucy, and im praying it might be her but finder did say he had looked through all the missing ones and didnt see a match, but she might well look totally differentnow if she has been living rough for some time
racheljane
