I see that owner doesn't want to continue searching but I thought I'd comment anyhow, I can't give up x the current dailymail pic of neglected n abandoned springer seem to be quite similar x

Take care Dear Stanley. I hope you are warm and cosy somewhere.

Thank you visionvalue. I have a photo of Stanley's markings and it is not him. I have contacted Stanley's owner and he does not wish to carry on with the search.

Hi, I saw this on another post, but you don't think this could be Stanley do you. Looks a bit similar http://www.broxbourne.gov.uk/environment_and_planning/broxbourne_services/lost_dogs_gallery/dog_129.aspx
AlisonH
Have suggested Simon puts new posters up at the Fitties soon as the residents will start moving back in to their coastal homes now that the worst weather is over.
Unknown
Hi Simon,it is so kind of you to look after her. I am sure she is really grateful. I am sorry it is not Stanley but hopefully he will turn up soon. I hope Immy finds her owners or if not a nice new owner. All the best liz xx
humberstunner
Hi

Sorry everyone to be a bit remiss not letting you all know but had to go to work again.

Anyway, been to vets and Immy, as the kids have named her, is not microchipped and does not have a tag. She is in good shape though a bit thin. She is now laid in front of my fire snuggled up to my Golden Doodle after having wee's on all the sofas.

I've de flea'ed her and give her a worming tablet. My labrador has been mothering her.

We have put her on the Grimsby Telegraph website, told the dog wardens, told a lot of people in immingham area and will put up adverts in Immingham tomorrow.

I'm not sure about putting a photo of her on the site as I want to question anyone who rings up to ensure they are genuine as Immy is a lovely dog
AlisonH
Simon will put her on here soon. He wants to get her checked out at the vets and scanned for a microchip first.
nikkic
Was hoping it would be Stanley,

does anyone know when the female springer will be put into the found section?

There is a springer called Jess who went missing in Nov and there is a group for her on fb, she dont seem to be listed on here tho.

Hope you find Stanley soon :)
DogLostReynard
yes such a shame do hope the little girl is ok though and an owner can be found?

So sorry this wasn't Stanley x
Pleased this little girl has been caught and is now safe
Unknown
So sorry but at least this girl has been caught and will proper care now. Hopefully Stanley will turn up soon.
AlisonH
Just got a call from Simon. Sadly it's NOT Stanley it's a bitch.. I'm so disappointed for him and his family.
AlisonH
Dog has now been caught but because of the condition he is in Simon's son is not sure if it is Stanley. Have to wait now until Simon gets back. He is going to let me know asap and if it is not Stanley then he is going to get it checked for a chip and inform the dog warden. He has also offered to look after the dog.Last edited: 2011-01-17 13:28:30 by AlisonH

AlisonH
Simon's son has just seen the dog. He called his name and he responded but then ran off scared. Have told him not to chase but get down low and use the gentle approach.

Praying that this is Stanley, there have also been found in Immingham yesterday/today 2 chocolate coloured spaniels
http://www.nationalpetregister.org/fp/27859.htm

in the Hume Brae area of Immingham
both have 3/4 tails, and brown leather collars with brass buckles, appear to be healthy and working dogs
AlisonH
Just spoken to the lady who phoned in the sighting and she is sure its Stanley. Simon is in Scarborough but his son has gone to where he was sighted. Am keeping everything crossed.

Oh really praying this is Stanley x
AlisonH
Just had a phone call. There is a very thin liver and white Springer Spaniel wearing a brown collar runnning around near Immingham docks. Several people are trying to catch him but he is very scared. Am trying to get hold of the owner now.Last edited: 2011-01-17 12:06:22 by AlisonH

Thanks Sue I will inform owner.

Advertised in the Shooting Times magazine. I hope it brings some news.
wirral groomer
we keep checking on stanleys page we hope he is home soon and so is our smith who went missing on the same day as stan and bowie. we have had no confirmed sightings just vague ones. so frustrsting why the people who sight these dogs dont pick them up first . ind never leave a loose dog on its own and not try to pick it up.
AlisonH
No nothing at all. Just hoping the man managed to catch him then at least Stanley will not be out in the cold. Need to keep spreading the word and hopefully someone will know who this man is.
Ninja - Area Volunteer, Lincolnshire
Has there been no new sightings of this lad? Or anything back from when he was in the papers? I am able to go out looking for a few hours tomorrow but really not sure what area to look in!
AlisonH
You're doing a great job Simon. It is really important to keep Stanley's profile high. Keep putting posters up and make sure you add STILL MISSING to any new posters. He's out there somewhere and it just takes the right person to see a poster and you'll get that important call.
humberstunner
Postered up the Fitties even more yesterday. Spoke to Neighbourhood watch and they said a loose spaniel was seen but it was about two weeks ago
humberstunner
If anyone knows the man who was trying to catch him could they let me know as, I understand he wanted to keep him too. I'm going to put more posters up around the fitties now. I take the dogs down there for a walk everyday so hopefully should see him soon
ESSJ - Area Co-ordinator Rutland
thanks Ashmark for posting about the b/w springer- i missed him going on as lost and being reunited!
Fingers crossed for another positive sighting of Stanley very soon x
AlisonH
Just had a phone call to say a dog fitting Stanleys description was seen on the Fitties near Cleethorpes last week. Apparently a man was trying to catch him. Simon has gone down there now. This is not very far from home so let's hope he is trying to make his way back to his family.
AlisonH
Thank you Keo61. I passed your info on to Simon. He has checked it out but it isn't Stanley.
AlisonH

Good Luck for a safe return of Stanley xxx
AlisonH
Am bumping to top as Stanley is featuring in both the Grimsby and Scunthorpe local papers for the next 4 days.
Carley
Stanley's details given to Springer Spaniel Rescue and he is now on their website as a missing dog.Last edited: 2010-12-29 20:42:29 by Carley
Carley
Hi. Sorry had to give up fairly quickly today as the fog was terrible and I couldnt see over the fields. Did try the back roads again however between Fulstow and Louth and had two of my dogs out at a time in case Stanley wanted to come to them.
wickedweims
many thanks for your donation which helps us help other owners
humberstunner
I'm putting up posters in a lot of the places where dog walkers go, pet shops, small shopping arcades, villages etc etc They are all in plastic envelopes stuck on with duct tape
AlisonH
All the posters I have put up are laminated. Am continuing to spread the word as are all my very helpful local contacts.
Carley
There is a Grimsby local paper I think every day and a weekly - Louth leader etc.
Carley
Just had a thought - there is a shepherd on the Wolds, somewhere near Market Stainton I think he lives - not sure of his name - does anyone know? Might be worth a try?
Carley
Yes laminating the posters would help as its so soggy at the moment. That is why I have been handing out flyers instead as I thought posters would disolve today. Charming kennels - however please be assured that as a licenced kennels they will be insured including recovery costs etc and a big add in the paper!. I will keep going out as will my friends. I am not back to work until next monday and my friends have another week off so we will keep helping - dont give up, dogs have appeared weeks and weeks after going missing. You need to keep asking wardens etc so it is fresh in their minds all the time, and keep checking the rescues, even just a phone call. Springer rescue may give you some help as well - they have a web site. That would get his picture over a wide area, not just local.Last edited: 2010-12-28 21:16:12 by Carley
humberstunner
Thanks so much Carley. You might be right. I'm putting an advert in the paper tomorrow with a reward attached. I've also printed off thirty posters which I'm laminating and putting up tomorrow too. Thanks everyone once again. Don't think it'll do much good talking to C Comforts as I let them know exactly what I thought of them before I left as they don't care at all.
Carley
Would it be about time to get something in the local paper now? Lots of people still off work? The 'hotter' property Stan is, the more likely he is to be given up if somebody has taken him!
Carley
Sorry - no sightings and I have returned home now as it is nearly dark. I will go out again tomorrow. I am going to try around Creature Comforts again as well in case sighting was not the same dog and he is still hanging around the kennels - very rural out there - lots of barns etc. Will walk my dogs around in case he will come to them.
AlisonH
Just spoken to the police at Lincoln's Headquarters and they were extremely helpful. There have been no reports of a found dog fitting Stanley's description but they have kept his details and will keep them on record for a month.
humberstunner
No more sightings I'm afraid kind of makes me think he's either been picked up by someone and may be some kids Christmas Pressie, has gone off into the Wolds where there's less chance of him being spotted or the worst. I'm putting up posters between here and Humberside Airport today as he won't cross the A180 as too scared of cars.
humberstunner
Walkers and Black something farm were contacted also talked to council, Blue cross Eastfield and Waltham vets. No news from any. We did Tetney, Tetney Lock, Grainsby, Waltham Brigsley, Barnoldby Le Beck and Salt Marshes yesterday. I'm in work this afternoon but going on a big poster putting up campaign this morning.
Carley
Hi. Any more sightings Simon? I am not sure where to look as he seems to be travelling fairly fast. I will be out with flyers for Mika today in Scartho /Grimsby etc this afternoon, I will give out the same again for Stanley. Please show yourself Stanley.
Ninja - Area Volunteer, Lincolnshire
i should be able to go out and look again tomorrow, can somebody please message me as to which pounds have been contacted? xx
AlisonH
Just got back in from searching but sadly no luck. have handed out more flyers and put up more posters. Spoken to Simon and he is still out there searching. Both of the dog pounds have been contacted but Stanley isn't in either of them.
Carley
Will be driving around Scartho for a bit today - will hand out some flyers to walkers etc. Hope he is seen soon.
ESSJ - Area Co-ordinator Rutland
Cropped and lightened second photo the bring closer. Please please let there be fresh sightings of Stanley soon.Stay safe boy till your family can find you x
Wolds Pack
I can put some posters up around Market Rasen if that helps, maybe in Tesco, the vets and Central Wool Growers. I go through the Waltham on the way to work so will keep a look out. Hope you find him.
AlisonH
Simon when you go out searching take at least one of the other dogs with you. Very often a stray dog can be hiding close by and you would not see it but the other dog will sniff him out. Best time to look is at dusk and dawn as that is when he will go out looking for food. Good luck and don't forget there will be others out still searching so if you find him please call me straight away so I can let everyone know.
humberstunner
Thanks everyone searching we all really appreaciate it. Our house will be a quieter place without that mad, caring, sensitive Springer his full name is Stanley Gene Ostler. He's named after a Hull KR Rugby Player with my surname
humberstunner
Tomorrow I'm setting up a scent trail back to my house. Just hope that his brothers barking may attract him back as this is the first time he's been alone at all. He has two labradors, a golden doodle and a cocker as brothers at home. Come home mate x
AlisonH
Just had a phone call to let me know that there are a lot of people out searching for Stanley in Brigsley and Waltham. Nice to know there are so many caring people out there.
humberstunner
We are getting posters put up in Tetney and Holton Le Clay also advert in Grimsby Telegraph tomorrow. I will get a load of fliers done today and tomorrow and distribute all aroung the Waltham, Brigsley, Tetney and Holton Area. He usually went for a walk at the salt marshes at the Fitties so I'm hoping his sense of smell takes him towards this area which is close to home
AlisonH
Thanks ninja. Need to spread the word in Scartho, Holton-le-lay, Waltham and Tetney all areas he could have wandered into. After that Grimsby needs doing so if anyone has contacts in any of these places please give them a call and mention poor Stanley.
Ninja - Area Volunteer, Lincolnshire
I will be able to go out and look again tomorrow/today afternoon, i cant print pics at ink is low on printer! If there is an area that needs to be covered then please let me know, also have family in Scatho so have rung them to be on lookout for the poor guy, xx
DogLostReynard
Poor Stanley hope you make it back beside the fire very soon xxx
Ashmark you are doing a fantastic, job lets hope it all pays off really soon xxx
If anyone can help spread the word and poster all areas please as it is amazing how far a dog can travel and a driver passing through may have seen something and not know he is missing, etc Ta!Last edited: 2010-12-26 18:29:35 by Reynard

It's Christmas day and I've had 3 calls from people enquiring if Stanley has been found. Each of the callers has been asked to spread the word to Scartho Top incase he makes his way up there. I am not going out searching today as I've had a drink or two but i will go out looking in the morning. Stay safe Stanley.
humberstunner
I'm just hoping some way he gets his way home. It's so cold and I'm so worried for the little fella. Thanks for all your help, you've all been great. We all love Stan here, his favourite thing in the world is the fire, the couch and an old tea towel. Come on Stan give us all the best Christmas present ever. Si & Deb

Come on Stanley - Show yourself, it's Christmas and its time to be warm and safe at home with your family xxx Stay safe sweetie xxx

dinkydoodle
Really hoping there would be news of Stanley today, Ashmark and Carley you are doing a really great job is getting the word out. Ashmark - open that bottle and you will get that call, it's sods law! Come on Stanley, time to give yourself in.x.
AlisonH
Think Carley and I must have been just missing each other because I too was in Waltham handing out flyers. Then drove around all back lanes but haven't seen Stanley. All of the people I spoke to said they would call me if they spotted him. If I don't get a call before 7pm I'm going to open a nice bottle of red wine.
DogLostJayne - Founder Doglost.
Well done Ashmark...and on Christmas eve! Above and beyond!
Carley
Hi Simon. Please when you get a second - it could be worth you having a word with your kennels again. They will be insured for this sort of event and could put some weight behind the search with a little cash etc. This they could claim back afterwards. Just thought it worth mentioning. Have been out all afternoon but no sightings for me. Gave out 30 posters mainly in the Waltham area.
AlisonH
Have printed off 80 flyers and will hand them out this afternoon.
AlisonH
Will be going out again this afternoon to search. Posters were handed out this morning by Carley's manager Nigel but the more posters we can get out there the better chance we have of finding him.
humberstunner
Hello
Stan was spotted between Brigsley and Waltham last night. He's sensitive and scared of loud noises and moving cars. He loves a ball and will come to you is you call his name sweetly and get down to his level.
Thank you for all your help. I'm the dogs owner and only just been able to get to the internet as away on holiday. Hence Stan being in the kennel.
If anyone could print the poster off and put it up in the Waltham and Brogsley area I would be very grateful. I will reimburse you of any costs. I have friends out looking and leafleting but the more the better.
Thanks Again
Simon & Deb Ostler and 4 devastated kids
AlisonH
Thank you ninja. No he lives near Cleethorpes so is travelling in the wrong direction. Got a call at 7am saying he had been seen playing in a field at Waithe on Wednesday. Lots of people are out searching but please do search this afternoon if you can Let's hope we catch him today so his owners can enjoy their Christmas.
Ninja - Area Volunteer, Lincolnshire
Will contact a friend near there in the morning, is this close to where he lives? Should also be able to spend a couple of hours tomorrow afternoon looking around that area.Last edited: 2010-12-24 02:11:20 by Ninja - Area Volunteer, Lincolnshire

x posted Stanley to ItsASpringThing, hoping he's picked up soon.
AlisonH
There has been a sighting of a dog fitting Stanleys description looking wet and frightened at Brigsley last night.
Carley
Covered every road and lane between Fulstow and Louth, stopped every few minutes and searched fields etc. There is a chicken farm not far from Fotherby and there is always runaway chickens on the road and field near the farm. May end up a fresh dinner attraction once Stanley gets hungry? No signs and nobody I spoke to had seen the dog. Friends covered North Thoresby northwards and spoke to a few postmen and a police dog handler etc and put some posters out. It was mentioned to them that this looked very like a dog that had slipped its lead and had gone wandering a couple of years ago. Will go out again tomorrow.Last edited: 2010-12-23 14:49:38 by Carley
AlisonH
Have updated Carley. Been out searching this morning, will go again later when I've warmed up.
Carley
Could somebody let us know please area the dog normally resides? I intend to go out shortly covering the area between Ludborough and Fotherby and have friends wishing to cover the area between Creature Comforts Kennels and the town/village where the dog lives. Thanks.

Carley
Have had a fair drive around all the back roads but it was snowing at the time so he would have been hard to spot. Have asked lots of people including dog walkers but as yet nobody has seen the dog around. Will go out again tomorrow.
AlisonH
Dog was lost from Creature Comfort kennels in Fotherby. I have been out searching this afternoon and put some posters up, will do some more in the morning. Dog wardens are aware as are the local vets. Have rang all my contacts in Covenham, Humberston, Marshchapel, Fulstow and Utterby. Owner is away but his neighbours have been alerted just in case Stanley tries to make his way home.
Carley
Will go out looking again Alison after 5pm when the plumber has been. He must be taking shelter somewhere around here as there is lots of traffic on A16 that he would shy away from. Not a nice night for any dog to be lost, lets hope he is found very soon.Last edited: 2010-12-22 18:58:32 by Carley

Can poster be emailed out to helpers please.

Sorry to see that STANLEY is missing.
  • If your dog is microchipped please let the microchip company know that your dog is missing and check that all details are up to date.
  • Owners targeted by a malicious hoaxer demanding money for the return of their dog should phone the police on 101 immediately and contact admin@doglost.co.uk
  • A photograph of your dog is essential for the website. If you have not already uploaded one, please do so by clicking on Update details. Alternatively you can email it to admin@doglost.co.uk quoting the dog's DogLost ID number: (26931)
  • Obtain a missing poster by clicking on View poster above. Posters are very important so start postering now!
  • You will need to be logged in to upload photos, edit your dog's details, or add comments. You can add comments by clicking on Click here to add a comment.
  • Contact dog wardens, vets and local rescue centres, and in Scotland, the Police. Give a detailed description with any distinguishing marks/scars or send them a copy of your DogLost poster. You can find vets in your area here.
  • If your dog has been stolen inform the police immediately and obtain a crime reference number (CRN). Send an email to stolen@doglost.co.uk.
  • If your dog is picked up and taken to rescue kennels, it can be legally re-homed after seven days. Visit rescue centres in person and do not rely on checking by phone alone. Other people may not recognise your dog by your description, so give them a DogLost poster.
  • Keep us updated by keeping your dog's page up to date and check for posts from helpers who may have suggestions and possible matches or sightings
  • DogLost is free and anyone asking for money to find or return your dog is not volunteering for us. If you are concerned about an approach you have received, please email admin@doglost.co.uk
