Just got back from the RSPCA, the found one in L25 is not Kia, I have got a photo of her if needed to be seen.

Checked the stray Kennels and could not see Kia, but once dogs do their 7 days they move over to the rehoming kennels and they had all been put in for the night.

If anyone visits the kennels ensure the ones up for rehoming are also checked as well as the ones who are doing their 7 days. Jan x

Thanks for the update Jackalee. :) I do have more info on the found and will try and call into the RSPCA to check her out. Jan x

Jan, Katie has text me back and Kia had the same collar as the one seen in poster photo. The one on AS site has a plain brown leather one. She hasn't got internet access at the mo so I sent her the ref and phone number of Animal Search. She rang me by mistake and said she was still trying to get in touch with them but was struggling as she is in work. Hopefully she will chase it up and visit Halewood just in case. Kathryn x

Thanks Jackalee. :)

I was alerted to this one last night from a DL helper via FB and have checked with Halewood RSPCA they do have one in there picked up on 28th May in L25 which looks like the registered one on the AW site. I was in Halewood on Sunday and looked out for Kia and could not see her there.

It is important that Katie or someone who knows Kia well is visiting kennels at least once a week. Jan x

Your right Dolly Daydream was picked up on the 3rd May. So if Kia wasn't lost until the 4th then it can't be her.
CP
JeffandAlfsmummy, just realised it was someone other than your kind self that actually found Dolly Daydream - sorry about that - but it was still a really good try on your part to link these two strays together in the hope that they could be one and the same dog....
CP
JeffandAlfsmummy, if I've worked it out correctly, that would make Dolly Daydream found 30th April 2011 and Kia didn't go missing 'til 4th May, 2011 (you'll see Jan posted this on the thread on that date). It may be confusing seeing her registered as lost on 21st December, 2010 but that was the first time she went missing, you see. It was a really good try at linking these two dear dogs and I think you're a wonderful person to have dealt with such a fraught situation on the morning of your holiday - utterly commendable.
Jeffreysmummy
Could it be Kia that is mentioned on dogpages in the chatter room?www.dogpages.org.uk/forums/index.php?showtopic=242037 The sub title is "meet Dolly Daydream" Last edited: 2011-05-11 10:42:49 by Jeffreysmummy

Katie, any update on Kia; am very concerned and would love to know how your search is progressing.
DogLostMajorjet (Jan) - Area Co-ordinator - Liverpool/Merseyside, North West
Thanks Bestdogs and CP for posting on Kia's page.

I've checked with Halewood RSPCA again today. As you say CP it is vital the kennels are visited in person at least once a week (ideally more) they are kept for 7 days. I identifid Kia last time she went missing and ended up in Halewood RSPCA (pic above in bottom box is what I took of her). Worringly she had been described as a 'Pit type' and was being assessed.

The posters are the key to getting her back. Waiting for up to date photo/s from Katie. Various size posters were done last time and just needed updating. Jan x
CP
Saddened to see Kia has strayed again. In the hope that lightning could strike twice have approached PDSA in Bootle to see if they have seen her this time. Unfortunately, no; but they have noted her details in case she comes through their doors again. Could I remind Katie to visit RSPCA as regularly as possible as only she will recognise her own dog; with the amount of SBT's and x's passing through their doors description over the 'phone of this breed is very hit and miss.
Unknown
hope you find Kia soon.take her to your vet when she returns, a microchip is usually about £15........there is no age limit to having it done.
katie
No kia is still missin. Ive rang the rspca and she isnt ther.
lf2000
Any news in Kia?
mandym
I will share on fb, hope she is found soon.....
katie
i know. didnt think it wud happen again
lf2000
PDSA wont charge too much and at a normal vet its not too costly to get it done.
katie
kia got out this morning and no shes not mircochipped we tryed to get her mirochipped at the rspca wen she went missin last time wen we went to pick her up and they sed it was too late t get it done?? if she gets out she just runs.

KIA HAS GONE MISSING AGAIN.

I've had a text today from Katie, Kia has gone missing again this morning from their home. I've checked with Halewood RSPCA in case she has been picked up and handed in.

Will update details and the various size posters when home from work later this evening.

Can email Alerts be sent out? Thanks. Jan x

Welcome home Kia - stay safe girl xx
Rileys Mum
Woo Hoo!! So happy to see this lovely girl safe AT LAST!! Yes please do treat her to a chip and a nice shiny ID Tag, it could save her life.
Stay safe lovely girl. Adele x
Millys Mum
I so pleased to hear that Kia has been reunited with her family. Yes, as Majorjet has already mentioned, could Kia have a microchip AND an ID tag on her collar as a welcome home present. AND, by the way, dogs don't get colds like us humans, and so Kia is likely to be suffering from kennel cough. PLEASE be very watchful and, if things don't improve or get worse, take her to the vets for antibiotics as this can sometimes be serious if left untreated,
Goldenfrodo
I am so relieved that this girl is now safely back with her family xx

This just goes to show that Breed Specific Legislation is flawed, one persons idea of a pitbull is not anothers, a dog should be judged on its actions not its looks, so glad that the owners had the proof they needed to get this obviously staffie home, welcome home Kia xx
DogLostMajorjet (Jan) - Area Co-ordinator - Liverpool/Merseyside, North West
Katie thanks for the message picked up early this morning to say Kia is HOME. Great you did manage to pick her up last night just before the RSPCA closed. As it was too late to get her CHIPPED pleased she will be getting done a.s.a.p. It has been a roller coaster few days and I am so happy she can finally be moved into the BLUE. Welcome home Kia and wishing you and your family a Very Happy New Year, lots of hugs and cuddles from everyone on DL. Jan x
katie
kia is back home now. we went to get her after the car got fixed. shes back home in the warm but shes got a relly bad cold bless her. thank u for helping us find her. xx

I've uploaded one of the photo/s into the Extra Image box which I took of Kia when visiting the RSPCA and emailed to Katie. Jan x

CP, thanks to you for checking with the PDSA on 24th Dec and posting re her being handed in, Katie did ring them but they said no SBT had been handed in. Jan x
CP
Phew, close shave, Jan. Thank goodness it looks as though this one will come right. I hope we can see Kia in the blue before long.
DogLostMajorjet (Jan) - Area Co-ordinator - Liverpool/Merseyside, North West
Katie has seen the photo/s and confirmed it is Kia. Not long finished speaking on the phone to Katie and given advice on things to do and people to contact, ideally before going to the kennels tomorrow. This is one of the reasons why it is SO IMPORTANT TO VISIT KENNELS IN PERSON and not rely on PHONE CALLS alone, Kia is not down as a SBT and her 7 days are up tomorrow. Jan x
CP
Grateful for update, Jan; things look hopeful. x
DogLostMajorjet (Jan) - Area Co-ordinator - Liverpool/Merseyside, North West
Called into the RSPCA to check on NW dogs and there is a dog which looks just like Kia in the kennels. It is the dog that is being assessed. Have taken some photo/s which I'll email to Katie. Have spoken to Katie who was in work at the time while I was in the kennels. Katie will be going to kennels tomorrow. Jan x
CP
Yes, fingers crossed for you Katie. And well done Jan for all your endeavours. x
DogLostMajorjet (Jan) - Area Co-ordinator - Liverpool/Merseyside, North West
Spoken to Katie late last night and given advice. Katie is going to the RSPCA today to see if the found dog is Kia. Good luck Katie. Jan x
DogLostMajorjet (Jan) - Area Co-ordinator - Liverpool/Merseyside, North West
Thanks CP for helping out in the search for Kia. Katie did ring the PDSA to check if she had been handed in. If it is Kia she must of arrived in the RSPCA after I'd spoken to them first thing on Thur. I will try and call into RSPCA but the roads are really bad in the area. Keeping everything crossed for Katie, I've left a message for her and emailed you. Jan x
CP
Meant to say, do you feel you should continue the postering and flyers if there's a chance this dog is not Kia? What does anyone think?
CP
Well done, Katie, making contact with them with such short time left before they closed. Don't forget, no later than 5 o'clock Monday was their clear advice. Good luck.
katie
i have contacted the rspca and they are saying the dog thats been handed in is a pit-bull type dog. they said it will have to be assed by the police. kia is a staff shes been assed by the police a few years ago wen the dog amasty came out. i told them to get in contract with the police cos it will be on file that shes been assed by them. they said they are waiting for the police to go there. i couldnt get down there in time 2day to see if it was kia or not but am going there on monday morning.
CP
Have located a similar sounding dog with collar taken to PDSA Bootle on 20th Dec. by gentleman and now at Halewood. Halewood have confirmed they have this dog. Have advised owner who is going to phone s.a.p.
DogLostMajorjet (Jan) - Area Co-ordinator - Liverpool/Merseyside, North West
Nothing has come of the report of the found Staffie. Katie has checked with the PDSA and no-one has handed a found dog in. I've done various size posters and emailed to Katie who is going to do door to door and spread the word. Jan x
DogLostMajorjet (Jan) - Area Co-ordinator - Liverpool/Merseyside, North West
Contacted Halewood RSPCA at 9.00am Kia had not been taken there, tried to ring the PDSA but it was taking too long to get through and I was in work. Have not had any news yet from Katie. It is really important that if Kia is still not home the RSPCA and other kennels she may possible go to are visited in person at least once a week if not more, they are inundated with Staffies. Jan x
CP
Oh I dearly hope so, too, and she can be safe and sound with her family for Christmas.
DogLostMajorjet (Jan) - Area Co-ordinator - Liverpool/Merseyside, North West
Katie has been informed someone has found Kia and handed her into a vet. Waiting to get more info. Depending where she has been found she should be handed into the DW/AW who will take her to Halewood RSPCA. Hope it is her and she is located tomorrow. Jan x

Thanks katie for posting, now we have more info on Kia her details can be updated. I rang Halewood RSPCA first thing this morning and it was great to see you had been in touch. If you call in can you take a poster with you as the member of staff who normally opens the emails is on leave until after the New Year.

Thanks for posting CP, when liasing with katie last night I stressed to her to contact both Liverpool and Sefton in the first instance as well as the AW's and also other bordering Council DW's and kennels etc. The posters are the key to getting Kia back as she may well have been picked up and not reported to the DW. Also advised contact the Councils to ensure there has been no RTA's and check with vets. Jan x
CP
I know owner will have received relevant advice from Majorjet but have both Sefton and Liverpool Dog Wardens been contacted? And has she been sighted for owner to know in which direction she ran - it's a long stretch of canal? Is owner managing to get plenty of postering up?
katie
kia got out r house by millers bridge in bootle. if she gets out she will run along the leeds canal towards town. i relly hope we get her bk soon. she has never gone missing before. Last edited: 2010-12-22 19:19:15 by katie

Admin
Sorry to see that KIA is missing.
  • If your dog is microchipped please let the microchip company know that your dog is missing and check that all details are up to date.
  • Owners targeted by a malicious hoaxer demanding money for the return of their dog should phone the police on 101 immediately and contact admin@doglost.co.uk
  • A photograph of your dog is essential for the website. If you have not already uploaded one, please do so by clicking on Update details. Alternatively you can email it to admin@doglost.co.uk quoting the dog's DogLost ID number: (26926)
  • Obtain a missing poster by clicking on View poster above. Posters are very important so start postering now!
  • You will need to be logged in to upload photos, edit your dog's details, or add comments. You can add comments by clicking on Click here to add a comment.
  • Contact dog wardens, vets and local rescue centres, and in Scotland, the Police. Give a detailed description with any distinguishing marks/scars or send them a copy of your DogLost poster. You can find vets in your area here.
  • If your dog has been stolen inform the police immediately and obtain a crime reference number (CRN). Send an email to stolen@doglost.co.uk.
  • If your dog is picked up and taken to rescue kennels, it can be legally re-homed after seven days. Visit rescue centres in person and do not rely on checking by phone alone. Other people may not recognise your dog by your description, so give them a DogLost poster.
  • Keep us updated by keeping your dog's page up to date and check for posts from helpers who may have suggestions and possible matches or sightings
