Hi, I have seen a dog on Netherlands Boarding & Rescue Kennels's facebook page, looks simular to Millie, so was wondering if it could be her. I have asked some questions about the dog on there to see if there could be a possibility. Here is the link to the page, if you copy and paste this into the address bar it will take you to the dog -

Thank you CopperM and racheljane! But none of them are Millie, I do come on here and check, and check what you've posted but couldnt remember my password so couldnt comment back but sorted that now! Millie was much much chunkier than the one in the photograph of the last post and she also has white tipped paws on the front and isn't as brindle as the Staffy cross pictured. Thanks! x

Still watching and hoping for you!
Have you seen this staffie bitch on Many Tears site? 3yrs old-ish from the pound apparently: http://www.freewebs.com/manytearsrescue/ourstaffs.htm scroll down the page, with fingers crossed!

How frustrating for you, what a shame this dog hasn't appeared for you to see. Did you speak to the McDonalds staff incase they have seen it at all? As much as it seems no doubt like a relentless task, keep going with posters, can never be enough and it only takes one poster in the right place for the right person to see but as we don't know who/where that is have to cover as much area as poss! Worth ringing round all the kennels, pounds etc again and visit where possible.Last edited: 2011-03-02 14:15:06 by Jo - Area Co-ordinator, Essex

I have still been sitting over Mcdonalds late at night when it's quiet for the past week, and have seen nothing. Everything really seems to have got quiet with Millie. I really want my baby home but just dont know what to do anymore.
SianLouise
Unfortunately not Jo :( Have sat over Mcdonalds for the past few nights and still not seen anything. Xx
Jo - Area Co-ordinator, Essex
Any more sightings Sian?
SianLouise
Hi all, I knew it wasnt going to be very quiet over there last night but thought i'd give it a go. Sat over there for about 5/6 hours until about 3am. There was still too many drunk people going for a McDonalds! So going to sit over there for a bit again tonight but it will still be noisy. Whilst I was over there we drove around to see where all the bins are so know where to look. xx

Keeping everything crossed for you Sian. I'll text you Jo's number in case no-one has seen your post. Good luck. Jan x
SianLouise
And thanks Jo! I don't think I saved your number for some reason, if you could email me it or give me a quick text that would be great :) I'll keep everyone updated :) xx
SianLouise
Thanks Dee! Sitting over McDonalds for the long night ahead! It's already starting to get quieter over here, as it's quite a distance from all the clubs. Xx

Oh Sian! Good luck!! xx
Jo - Area Co-ordinator, Essex
Fingers crossed this possible sighting is Millie! Have a look around the area Sian, sus it out, then it would be good to leave an old towel or article of your clothing somewhere nearby thats a 'safe spot'. Also if you should see her/the dog, remember how to behave as if Millie has been living 'wild' for a while she'll very much have reverted back to her instincts (although would soon revert back to pet dog living the life of luxury lol). I will send you on our scenting guidelines again this evening when I get home as that has some points on the behaviour too. If when you are over there and you do see the dog/her and you want any pointers there and then just call me or Dee. :) Good luck, fingers crossed! (bumped her page up due to possible sighting)
Dog WardenBasildon DW
Yes its matching but could not tell if it was male or female, looks skinny though but if she/he keeps eating McDonalds they wont stay skinny for long.It was late night early hours when quiet. Not sure its ever quiet over there at the weekend!! She may not have been in the actual car park for McDonalds but behind it near the units and along the road. I did go over today but saw nothing. Good Luck Sian
SianLouise
And is this of a Staffy matching Millies description? I go over there quite a lot, i will sit over there tonight. Has this dog been seen all the times sighted by mcdonalds? Thanks Dw! X
Dog WardenBasildon DW
I have had reports of a possible sighting near Festival Lesuire park/Cranes farm road. A couple of times late at night a dog has been seen picking up scraps near McDonalds, too skitish to catch. She may be hiding during the day due to all the road works. Worth checking out when late and quiet I think.
SianLouise
I live down Friern gardens so will keep a look out. Thank you! X
sharron78
Yes, Friern Gardens. The staff had a big white blaze on its chest and white tipped feet, but couldn't makeout if it was a boy or girl as it was dark. I slowed down and the boys glared at me, so I slowly turned around to get another look but they'd gone. I work in the next road to Friern so will look again tomorrow night. Just thought it was a bit of a coincidence as you previously said that was possibly the last sighting of her up that road x
SianLouise
Thanks so much Sharron, Dee text me to notify me about your post. I only see the text at ten to ten though so missed them by quite a bit :( Millie was great off the lead but only with me. Do you mean Friern Gardens? We checked all around Friern Gardens, The Orchard, Friern Walk, Deirdre Avenue, Deirdre Close, London Road and a few more too. But caught it a bit late so saw nothing :( Thanks so much though! And thanks Dee. xx
sharron78
Meant to say my name is sharron chalmers if you want to add me to facebook, from Rayleigh. You'll see my profile has a photo of me and my staffy x
sharron78
Sian I just drive down friern road to get to work and I saw 2 really chavvy lads with a staff that looked just like Millie. How is she off a lead as this one was off lead just walking with them. I turned around to drive back past and they'd gone so must be an alley round there. I will make you a facebook page for Millie tomorrow, with me and you as admin so we can both monitor the page. My email address is sharron.chalmers@gmail.com if you want to chat to me about the page. Or if you're on facebook add me as a friend x
SianLouise
Thanks CopperM! Unfortunately the dog at Danaher RSPCA isn't Millie, that little cutie has a white blaze on her nose and there is too much white on her paws. Thanks anyway x
CopperM
And there's another - contact http://www.sosdogrescue.co.uk/ I've asked them to look at this page...

I work in Belmont Road, the road opposite the Downham Arms pub and I walk my bosses dogs every night, I've stopped so many people to remind them Millie's still missing. Have you made a Facebook page just for Millie yet? It's easy enough to do, and it would be a good way of networking her disappearance. If you don't know how to do it I don't mind doing it for you, but I'm sure you'll have more of an idea than me!! xx
SianLouise
Yeah I knew it was, my mum spoke to them too and we rang the police and and we rang the highways agency. And yes I did follow that up but it wasn't her :( thanks for your help! X
sharron78
Sian, I've spoken to the people at the garage near the roundabout where you were originally told a dog had been run over and i've managed to speak to all the staff there now as they have a 24 hour shop so lots of different people working there, and none of them know of a dog being run over. So think that was just a hoax, well I hope so. Did you follow up the info you said you couldn't share with us a few weeks ago? x
SianLouise
5 weeks today baby. I check here lots everyday. I'm never giving up hope. I love you so much darling! Xxxx
SianLouise
Thanks Angus! Millie is very stocky for a bitch, I agree she could have lost weight but that wouldn't change her build. I hope my darling little baby is home soon, I miss you so so much! X
DogLostAngus
I can confirm that it cannot be 27366 as this dog was in season and very slight framed
SianLouise
Thanks Lizzy! Will have to check when I get home as it requires flash. I'll keep everyone updated. Can't comment on here as often as I'm sitting quite a few of my GCSE's this week! Thanks xx
Unknown
Have a look at 'Dogsville' in Oxforshire, there are a couple of female staffs on their one has white tips to feet and white chest and is a bit plump. Liz xx
SianLouise
Hiya carolsdogs, I've looked at that picture long and hard and although Millie could have lost quite a bit of weight whilst out, I highly doubt that her claws would change colour. Unfortunately it isn't her, as Millie has white claws and this dog has black. X
carolsdogs
Iv'e just been looking at that staffie in the found section too no. 27366 , it really does look a lot like millie doesn't it , it says the dog has a white spot on it's neck ? as well as a very similar marked white chest and tips to the paws .Last edited: 2011-01-13 09:55:50 by carolsdogs

I was wondering the same, dogs can cover distances very quickly and people don't always pay attention to dogs on the run so as to say
carolsdogs
Hi SianLouise , i'm so sorry your girl is missing , i just wanted to say i live off of Radwinter avenue , and def havn't seen any of your posters etc , so it might be worth you putting some up near the little footbridge ( where the doggy bin sits ) and the Darby Digger pub etc , my cousin has just lost two staffie cross dogs from his garden so know how desperate you must be too ( they are also on here ) they went on Monday morning from their garden , they havn't heard a word either , i walk my dogs around this area so will def keep an eye out for you , i hope you get some good news soon , i don't want to be morbid but did you follow up the story of the dog hit by a car ? to at least rule out it wasn't millie as the roundabout isn't far from you for a dog on the run .
SianLouise
Thanks Sue!
AlisonH
Thank s Sue I will alert the owner.

Advertised in The Countryman's Weekly magazine. I hope it brings some news.
SianLouise
Thanks so much Lisa123! We have something that we need to follow up that I cannot mention on here as if yet, but I'll keep everyone updated. And thanks Lizzy, but that's not her. Thank you everyone!
Unknown
There is a black staffie with white chest and white paws in the found section
Lisa123
Wish I could help you look but Im miles and miles away! Keep going Sian. Are there posters up still? Might be worth spreading the word that someone could have taken her in as Im thinking if this has happened and they are walking her on a lead people might not put the two together and just assume she belongs to that person....just a thought. x
SianLouise
Thanks Lisa123, I do too. X
Lisa123
Good luck Sian. Hope you have some good news soon x
SianLouise
Thanks so much for the phonecall Dee! It was really helpful! I'll try and start the scenting tomorrow. x
DogLostSherlock Bones Police Liaison Co-ordinator
Sian left a message for you re scenting: give me a call when you can
DogLostNina
SianLouise as I understand it in basice terms you have to collect your wee and when you have enough sprinkle it from where your dog was last seen and follow the route home to your front door or back garden. I am sure the more experienced doglost people will advise you if I have left anything out. Good luck.
SianLouise
Hiya would anyone be able to give me any advice on scenting?
SianLouise
Hiya CopperM, thanks for letting me know. Have actually postered all of them, but it was 3 weeks ago so they must have taken them down since. I've noticed a few go down in other shops along the highstreet. I will get out and re-poster again. Also some of the posters on lamposts need fixing back down as the wind has taken some of the staples out. Thanks!
CopperM
My cat had to go to the vet today - no poster of Millie, but they said it would be welcome. How about the others, in case they've been taken down? I can think of Cherrydown, South Beech (on the Southend Road/South Beech Avenue corner) and Medivet at Lyndfords Farm, Runwell Road, before the hospital turning. Sorry I didn't take one myself. Did a double take on exit as a young staffie similar to Millie came in, but he was a boy! Keep going, especially as Millie may have been spotted! Last edited: 2011-01-06 15:23:23 by CopperM

Just had a phonecall. Possible sighting of Millie! Very close to our home. Will keep updated. Dad is down there now. Fingers and toes crossed.
SianLouise
3 weeks tomorrow baby. I want you home so bad, it's horrible and lonely without you. I need someone to cuddle in bed with me, someone to chew holes in all my new socks! Home is definately not the same without you and never will be, we don't have all our clean washing spread over the house or in the garden because you want us to chase you. I'd have washing everywhere and holes in my socks anytime to have you home. I love you so much baby! XxxxLast edited: 2011-01-03 11:23:51 by SianLouise

Hiya lilly_bell, thanks so much for emailing me that picture! But unfortunately it isn't Millie. And no we never bred Millie. Thanks for your help!
lilly_bell
sian, i have sent you a picture of the girl i picked up, having looked at the pictures of millie she does seem similar, however, i checked her tum and the girl i have doesnt seem to have been spayed, she also has extended nipples so may have had a litter in the past. Has millie bred before? check the photo i sent you :)
SianLouise
Had nothing on my beautiful little baby! :( I miss her so much and just want her home. Words cannot express how much this is tearing the family up, she is missed so so much. I just hope she is safe and well and will be home with us soon.
SianLouise
Hiya, yeah I am on Facebook, and I post a picture of Millie everyday and a link to this website. I haven't actually made a group yet, thought of it but wasn't sure how to go about it. Thanks so much for everyones help and support and I really do hope she comes home to me. My dad is convinced she was stolen but we'll never know as dogs can't talk. X
sharron78
SianLouise, I work in Wickford right by the Downham pub, I'll keep looking out for Millie and I'll spread the word at work tomorrow. Do you have a facebook page for Millie so I can post the page on my facebook. I so desperately want you to get your girl back, I'd be devastated if I lost my staffies. I helped at Acresway in the summer and believe me they're not very quick at contacting people when a stray comes in so I'd keep phoning them every day if I as you just to remind them x
Jo - Area Co-ordinator, Essex
Are you on Facebook Sian? Millie has already been posted on mine and other's profiles but you could set up a new group (if not done so already) and spread the word that way....just thinking of ways to reach more people. And if we could get that campaign going with a big following may help with publicity in the papers too.
SianLouise
I contacted them and it was a very expensive price, of which my dad can't afford to pay. So on that front, theres nothing I can do as Millie was not insured! :(
CopperM
How about posting in the Yellow Advertiser, if you haven't already done so? all editions if at all possible? If Millie has been seen in Southend, then maybe Southend schools should be postered too... Good Luck1 Still rooting for you1Last edited: 2010-12-28 17:51:38 by CopperM
SianLouise
Thanks everyone! I have already put posters up of my baby at the local schools. I check on them almost everyday and they are still there and the ink hasnt run. My cousins go to two of the local schools and my aunt speaks to all the parents and asks around but nothing. I'll add more up around the schools and parks. I just don't know what I can do anymore.
nataliemurf
You need to get posters up on as many school gates as you can for when the schools go back next week and specifically ask on the posters for people to look out for any one who may have just obtained a staff in the last couple of weeks to let oyu know just so you can rule her out as they may have obtained her quite inocently, because also if someone has bought her or got her and they have kids the kids will be so excited when they go back to school about the fact they possible got a dog before or for christmas but you need to do it yourself as the schools are not very good at helping - when mine went missing this was just one of the things i did and although i located both mine myself i actually got several call from people who saw the posters on the school gates pointing me in the right direction lots of mums who hang out at the schools love to talk and if someone shows up with her at a local school I am sure someone will let you know cause as sad as it is some of them really love a drama which will hopefully help you - dont give up stay strong.
CopperM
About 20 contacts in Southend now emailed with poster link, including a school, in the hope that it'll be displayed in reception when they're back... Still rooting for you!
SianLouise
Thanks Jo! It's appreciated! X

Hiya all, I would like to thank whoever put my little baby in the Evening Echo. I have had two calls due to the Evening Echo, both from very lovely people. These two phonecalls were about a Staffy they had seen, both the times seen in Westcliff-on-sea. They matched the description of Millie and both see her Wednesday 15th December by the Bell Pub. I hope this could be Millie and someone has taken her in and sees the article in the Evening Echo and is decent enough to report her back to us. Thanks again to whoever put my baby in the Evening Echo! Sian x
SianLouise
Thanks Lizzy!

Hiya CopperM, I have been checking all websites I have found everyday for Millie. Ashmark, I had a look and i don't think that will be Millie as she is a jet black brindle. Thanks!
CopperM
Do look at the national pet register and other similar sites, SianLouise! Dogs do travel: I've been part of a transport chain whch went from Oswaldwistle (up north) to South Essex! The dogs weren't claimed within the 7 days when found and would have been pts (put to sleep) if a rescue hadn't offered a space for them. So you can see, dogs may travel by fair means or foul! Still rooting for you!

Sorry SianLouise that I didn't call you over the weekend, the snow scuppered my plans a bit and it was chaotic! I will give you a call tonight after work. I am so sorry you have not heard anything about Millie yet but your hard work MUST pay off soon. Come on Millie!!
SianLouise
Please could you bump Millie up the first page. I don't want Millie to be forgotten. I just want my baby home! :'(
SianLouise
Hiya BRAMLEY, I tried calling that number but had no answer. Left a message. Thanks!
BRAMLEY
Have you tried Lynton Kennels in Dunton. I got an unclaimed stray from them last year (Dog Lost No 17528). He was picked up in Thundersley by Basildon DW and taken to Lynton. The number that I had to ring them on was 07970 678372.
SianLouise
Thanks so much for moving Millie nearer to the top again. I was so worried she would get forgotten. I hope she's home very soon because I love her and miss our cuddles everynight, and also the weather is increasingly getting worse.
SianLouise
Oh yeah, thanks Jo! Didn't think about that! Could you ring phone number 2? Thats mine, the others is my dads and he is useless!
Jo - Area Co-ordinator, Essex
SianLouise - great news about the possible sighting!!

I have amended your post slightly because certain 'people' could be ready the messages on here. I'll give you a call later to have a chat about it and explain further ;-)

Hopefully the REWARD for Millie's safe return will tempt these people and the call will come once they've seen the posters. Keep at it you are doing fab.
SianLouise
Yeah i know, we have laminated some and have the rest in plastic pockets. Just having to cover our footsteps and replace the paper ones with the ones in plastic pockets. Thanks jeepsmi! x
jeepsmi
Just a suggestion. I have seen some of the posters that you have put up- some of them are getting ripped and battered by the weather. Go to Smith's and invest in a pack of plastic pockets to put them in- they will stay good for ages then. You can get packs of 100 quite cheaply.
SianLouise
There has been a sighting by a family friend. Today she saw a group with what she was 95% sure was Millie. Have lots of boys spreading the posters round pubs where these people drink at and also near sites. A nearby lady has contacted me and told me her dog was stolen and in the same sort of area/people. She soon got her dog back, I hope my situation is the same.Last edited: 2010-12-18 12:48:45 by Jo - Area Co-ordinator, Essex

Thanks! So many people are messaging me on facebook to offer support for my dog from seeing posters everywhere! Just hope the right person finds her very soon!!
CopperM
You're doing a brilliant job, SianLouise! Posters taped to surgery doors will certainly catch people's attention! Keep posting on this thread too, as you have been doing, and that will help to keep interest going!
SianLouise
Had a phone call about 10 minutes ago, someone see a black dog running around in Shotgate. Sent my dad and brother up there and my nan too to have a look round. Will poster up shotgate later.
SianLouise
I rung that number, it unfortunately isn't her. Please will people print off the posters and spread them round please. Thanks.

Thank CopperM, will do all that. And dw, thanks for letting me know. The whole of Wickford town has posters of Millie in all the shops, on all the lamposts. My uncle is posting some in pubs. My mum posted a leaflet in 'Elliott's Van' which drives around all the industrial estates and it serves hot food. She serves hundreds of people everyday so she said she will draw everyones attention to the poster. Thanks everyone!

I must confirm that Hobo's Kennel DO NOT board any stray dogs on behalf of Basildon Council or any other council. It is a criminal offence for anyone to find or take in a stray dog without reporting it to the relevent local authority. If anyone knows of anyone who takes in strays without notifying the local council, please let them know.

Please look out for the dog sale adds (or'free to a good home' NOT! they ask for travelling expenses etc) in newspapers, free web sites (Google Staffies for Sale) & cards put up in pet shops and shops, usualy with mobile phone numbers and often with a fake story to go along with it. GOOD LUCK!
SianLouise
Hi all, I want to continue to keep everyone updated. Have been advised by local police to visit 'Hobo's' Kennels, apparently are known to actually have stray dogs but when owners ring and ask just say no. So have been advised to visit and pose as a buyer for one of their dogs and that we may find Millie. Will visit tomorrow. The family is very distraught, most of all me as she was my dog, my best friend that used to sleep with me and follow me everywhere. Im only 15 and just want her back in bed with me. I cant sleep until I know i have her safe. Any help I will be so grateful for. x
SianLouise
Thanks so much Jo and Riverlady and everyone else who is helping. Tonight my whole family and loads of friends have placed 400 more leaflets around wickford and basildon in restaurants, shops, taxi ranks, bus stops, petrol stations, post boxes, vets, doctors, community centres and so much more. We have been handing leaflets out to passers by and the local police have took a leaflet and will contact us if they hear anthing. Thanks for all your help and I hope she turns up soon xx

You are doing a GREAT job SianLouise, hopefully that call will come very soon. Thanks Riverlady for tweeting about Millie.....hopefully that will spread the word around and get more eyes looking. Essex Radio don't normally do appeals for lost dogs but Southend Radio are great and often help us out, I will email the person who is particularly helpful and ask her to run an appeal on her show for us. Hiya nataliemurf, thanks for your help. I have emailed the publisher of the yellow advertiser regarding Millie and hope they can help. How long did it take for you to get your dogs back? Also im very pleased that you have got your two dogs back - there is too many wrong people around nowadays. x
nataliemurf
Hi Im really sorry to hear your dog is missing - a few months ago both my dogs were stolen and we got them back, i contacted the yellow advertiser and they were really good they done a story and they put an advert in the papers to help - I posted out 4500 leaflets and eventually found them - but i put lots of posters up as i drove all around basildon and pitsea and laindon and put posters up in all the bust stops and train staitions as you get so much through traffic and I got so much support and help so maybe try this as well - I did get a few idots ring up with prankish calls but stay posative as there are more nice people than horrible ones and im sure you will find your dog. Good luck Nat
SianLouise
Does anyone have a number for local radio stations willing to broadcast about Millie? x
SianLouise
I'm not going to stop looking for her until I find her. Have rung lots of kennels in Essex, vets in essex and the dog warden and the rspca. Still nothing but not going to give up.
jeepsmi
Don't be disheartened if you hear nothing for a few days. We did not get any reported sightings until Lewis hd been lost for about four days, then they started trickling in. Don't forget to poster the taxi cab offices/cars etc.
jeepsmi
It's worth going to the sorting office in Lower Southend Road around 6am and asking the postmen to all take a poster with them. Also do the same at Barleylands on a Monday morning again very early- get the dustbin men to each put a poster in their cabs to keep an eye out for her. Take a poster to the police station and ask if they will put it up even if they can't help in other ways. Catch milkmen and give them posters.
SianLouise
Had some lovely people calling regarding our leaflet and giving advice, most of which we've already done. But none the less, still very grateful. x
SianLouise
Have rung all local kennels and vets, no sign. Thanks for everyones help, just want to find her. x
Dog WardenBasildon DW
Sian can you email me please and I will send an attachment with more local numbers for you to contact. sarah.moran@basildon.gov.uk
SianLouise
We have rang Wickford Police and they didn't want to know. They said they dont take reports for lost or stray dogs. x
SianLouise
Around Friern Gardens, close to the Downham Arms Pub. Ive informed the RSPCA and the dog warden. Apparently this dog was hit at the BP Nevendon Roundabout. The call was a private number, may have been a very sick prank. I wouldn't know because I didn't take the call myself. Thanks to everyone for helping. x
jeepsmi
Have to say that Wickford police were brilliant when Lewis was lost. Every time they had a call about a dog running loose they rang us. In fact it was a call from them at 5.30am one morning that helped us to finally get him back.
jeepsmi
I live in Wickford- Bromfords Close. Whereabouts exactly did she go missing from.
My Boxer was lost from SS12 a few years ago but we got him back thanks to doglost so will be very glad to look out for yours if we can.

Which side of Wickford is she missing from? Have you tried the new kennels on A127 Hobo's they are taking in strays.
Dog WardenBasildon DW
No reports of any found dogs matching this description. Acres Way aware so we will keep our eyes and ears open. It may be worth letting Chelmsford & Brentwood Council and the RSPCA know Millie is missing. What roundabout was this other dog hit on?

Hiya, had a call this morning to say that a dog fitting our description was hit yesterday on a major roundabout by where we live. I dont think she would have got as far as that as she went missing at the time all the children are released from school so many parents and children are about at that time. I dont think a dog without a collar would have gone un-noticed as far as that. I contacted Gemini Kennels last night and they haven't had anything, but they will contact if they do. They also gave me Acres Way Kennels number which I will ring this morning. I have contacted Wickford and Basildon council and also rang our local police station but they didnt want to know. I will be phoning round the vets this morning too. Later me and a big group of friends are going to the town and placing the leaflets in more shops and under window wipers on the cars. Also going to staple laminated posters on trees and lamposts. I hope she is found safe and well today. x
Jo - Area Co-ordinator, Essex
SianLouise, sorry to see Millie is missing.....you certainly sound like you are doing a fab job already searching for her with all the posters and leaflets and notifying the relevant places. Have you contacted Wickford and Basildon councils? Make sure you speak to Gemini Kennels and Acres Way Kennels as they are the holding kennels for strays in those respective areas. Hopefully someone took her in yesterday and she's tucked up safe somewhere and you will get the call this morning. x
SianLouise
Please if anyone sees her call the numbers listed. We love her and miss her so much. I will not sleep until I know my little baby is safe in bed with me. I have put posters in local shops and have also put posters all around my town in everyones front door. Already posted 250 leaflets in front doors. I have registered her as lost to our local dog warden and the RSPCA. Thanks
