A gorgeous puppy has turned into a lovely dog who looks to have been well looked after, I feel that somebody could be desperately searching for him and could have given him a home not knowning the circumstances, the RSPCA have been know to re home dogs without checking that they were chipped.

mmm the "other family" may have came accross him the right way,,and could also be missing this lovely boy like crazy?? lots even on here dont bother to chip or tag their pets,,you never really expect it to happen to you! i just hope he is happy in his "new" home and all ends well, welcome home at last x

with reply to the person that says they feel torn as its been 4 years and -i would reply by saying that if a family had him why did they not get him scanned for a chip or try to get him chipped in those years.Just happy this is closure and we now know he is safe.

Well, how amazing is that!   I wonder where he's been and who's had him all this time - could be someone is trying to find him???   He was only a little man when he went missing and 4 years on is a long time, feel a bit torn here.   Main thing is he's happy and well looked after;  stay safe now Monty xx

Monty is home after 4 years!!!! He was found on Saturday wandering up Streatham High Road, 4 miles from where he went missing and reunited through his microchip. Mark and family have another dog now and cannot keep Monty but he is going to live with relatives and so will have a great home and Mark and family will still be able to see him. Will hopefully be getting a 'grown up' photo later. What a happy ending!!!!

A very long shot 1 year on -i was close to Albert Bridge and Battersea Park last week and saw a man walking 4 dogs one of which had very similar markings to monty and was definately a labrador.I was unable to stop in the traffic.Would be re assured if it is him just to know he is ok.

monty looks lovely.. he got stolen a few days (10).... before molly my pup was stolen 22.11.04, im still looking, as you said befor they have both grown and wont look much like there picture but i wont give up. hope you here something soon. Tracey x

Hi, now I'm probably being suspicious minded but today I saw a traveller child walking a chestnut coloured adolescent lab (dog) near a travellers site in York. It may well be legitimate and honest but it rang bells so I checked the site for a similar dog which I rememberd seeing.

It now turns out a woman by Queensmere Rd area SW19 has seen a dog similar to Montys description (about 6 Months old now) but with a black tip on tail(quite suspicious) Its quite close to where he went missing.Keep an eye out we are looking into this.

Also had word of a similar dog in Bournemouth area. Have mailed that area and thank you to the helpers who e mailed back and are printing of posters for the postmen and the puppy training classes.

Afetr coverage in Our Dogs newspaper owner has had a call from Stocksfield near Newcastle where a similar dog has appeared recently-any helpers in this area? Please call us on 01909 733366-Automatic mailing of poster will be done on Monday to cover this area.

Still no news-and now I don't think there will be.He has probably grown a lot and doesn't even resemble his pic anymore!We spoke to someone who works in a local vet and were told that they are not all scanned if taken to a vets.Let's just hope whoever has him is looking after him-keep looking !!

Hi Mark,I have had several bad things come to me by email about my stolen dog. I must say not as a direct hit from this fantastic web site but by other evil sods that just get all the information they can get and target us. You can see my stolen dog,Alfie stolen yorkshire terrier May 19th.All my details are on his page.Please call me. Some people are just so evil. I don't think anything dodgy is going on-i just think that London Underground are miserable buggers!All posters at the stations have been removed and Wimbledon Shopping Centre have taken them down too-lets hopethis doesn't happen to these people!Might be worth keeping a look out in Merton area just in case the phone call was genuine yesterday

Had a call from a girl who said a freind of a freind has found a dog like this one and he is at B.D.Home...when checked out no dog there! Posters have now been taken down in this area so something dodgy is going on.! Mark will update you all later!

I can't answer your question as to whether anyone else has had hoax calls, although I'm sure I have read about some on this site. I'm not surprised though as there are some pretty sick people out there and maybe the school girl was hoping for a 'cash reward'..Keep checking with the dogs homes just incase Monty is handed in she just might have been genuine and Monty's details haven't been circulated yet. As you sensibly had him chipped lets hope he is handed in somewhere! Best of luck in finding him, he looks gorgeous. Wherever he is, I'm sure he will be being looked after really well as he is so cute. Good luck!

my wife and i today put posters of Monty (photo posters) around Southfields Earlsfield and Wimbledon Park .Pubs Parks Doctors Cafe's and Wandsworth Sorting office(bumped into an old friend who said she would photo copy and give to all the Post Office Van Drivers)An Advert goes in the local Guardian Newspaper this Thurs for Wandsworth /Putney and Wimbledon areas-cant think of anything else-any ideas?
