Well done Paula for reuniting her back with her family. Jan x
PaulaK
Not as sorry as me - Jodies owner kepts saying the found dog really was a double of Jodie apart from the white tip on her tail which Jodie didnt have. Thanks Angus and Jackie for your help this afternoon x
DogLostAngus
Sadly not Jodie, owners said it was her double apart from marking on her tail, whilst Jodie'e owners were checking the found dog out, the owners appeared with a lead and no dog so our found dog has been reunited with her very relived owners - they had just moved to the area and her details would have been out of date, owners have been advised about updating chp details and the requirement for a name tag on her collar, so sorry it was not Jodie x
DogLostAngus
PaulaK has just found a very similar looking dog whilst out on her walk - owners have been contacted and will go and see - wouldn't it be great if it was Jodie after all this time
ceg
I had a phone call from someone at Network Rail. He said that he had just seen a poster of Jodie and that he had removed a dog with similar colouring from the track between Byfleet and New Haw and West Byfleet stations in early December. He said that the dog had been electrocuted and very little remained of the collar. Jodie was microchipped and had been notified as lost to Network Rail but the chip could have been damaged. I am leaving posters up as I cannot be certain that the dog was Jodie.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

I had a phone call this evening from someone who said that since early November she had been regularly seeing a "large fox-like animal" in the Oyster Lane / Petersham Ave area of Byfleet at 9.00 to 9.30 in the evening - she thought it could possibly have been a dog. My parents went there this evening and did in fact see what they said was definitely a large fox there, but they are going to try again over the next few days. Jodie has floppy ears, not pointed ones like a fox, so it is unlikely to be her, I am going to poster that area of Byfleet tomorrow just in case. There has been no other news since the one phone call about Headley.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Thanks Jayne - ceg, I drove around Headley, pinned a couple of notices up where I saw you hadn't already been!! Also knocked on a couple of farmhouse doors and left leaflets with them in case Jodie is sheltering in a barn or outhouse. I intended to drive from Headley along the country route to West Byfleet but missed a turning somewhere - I suspect you  have already postered along there? or maybe someone else has. Lets get her home for Christmas!!Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Just had a reply to email from SouthWest Trains...they have poster. Now the network men check the tracks regularly but they have been busy up this end with collapsed bridge at this end. Anyway they are on the look out.

Thanks for the information about the missing pets register. I tried e-mailing the finder of the dog in Canterbury but it wouldn't go through so I will phone in the morning. I've also listed Jodie as lost on the missing pets register. Thanks also Annie for your help.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

ceg, do you think we finally have a sighting? This sounds likely, I can go down there maybe tomorrow afternoon or Saturday, looks like a lot of open ground near that particular area? I don't know it that well, but if she's only coming out at night, that would explain no sightings so far - let's hope!Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

I had a call from someone who saw a "chunky elderly looking collie type" dog in Lodge Bottom Road near Headley on Monday evening. She slowed down but the dog then ran across the road in front of an oncoming car. Obviously it was dark so she could not get a very good view of the dog. Headley is in Mole Valley BC - I've checked that the dog warden there still has Jodie's details and told her of the possible sighting, also phoned all vets in that area and dog wardens in adjoining council areas. I can put up posters in Headley village and local car parks on Friday. Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Ceg it is difficult to know where to leaflet I know I would see if you can go towards Pyford, Ripley way also.  If you could I would ask if any of the papers would do a story on her if they could interview your parents with you there and do a picture of them and one of Jodie to say how much they are missing her.  I would also think of offering a reward if possible.   See if the councils will let the Bin Men have a poster in their Cabs as they get around all little alleys and gardens so may spot something or someone out with her.  I would keep on at Serco and the railways and get a picture to them if you have not already done so.   Also not a nice thought but have any of the neighbours got swimming pools could you ask them to check them.  I am sorry to suggest this but it is just a thought.   My brother in law and sister walk Dodds lane quite a bit and are checking bushes around the area etc.    Have posters etc in my car all the time so am still covering a few spots or replacing damaged ones.  Dont forget if you need any help or support just call me.  Karen

ceg, I dont know which areas to suggest but my gut feeling is that someone, maybe an elderly person, has taken her in and is afraid to notify anyone about her or maybe doesn't understand about the microchipping system. We need to keep checking animal shelters and vets so she doesn't get missed. I have notified the local neighbourhood police.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

I am getting 5000 flyers printed for delivery with Informer newspaper. 5000 will cover West Byfleet (KT14 6 - 1338) and Pyrford (GU22 8 - 2900) or Byfleet (KT14 7 - 1727) or part of New Haw (KT15 3 - 3144). Was going to target West Byfleet, Byfleet and part of Pyrford, although these areas have already been quite heavily postered and leafleted. I can choose any area in Surrey / SW London for flyers to be delivered - does anyone have any suggestions for other areas? Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Annieb hope you feel better soon.  Last night postered Holmwood Park Lyne entrance, Ottershaw Park, Rowtown end of Addlestone.  Spinney Hill Vets will put up Poster and so will WIllett House Addlestone.  Will try and do Ripley end where Road has been closed and the Mobile Home Site entrance there and around the Canal entrances near the Seven Stars Pub.  Re the couple with the Dog near the pub in Byfleet there are a couple of dogs that are loose round that area it could have been one of them, but we have postered quite heavily that area so if it was Jodie then the couple should see the posters.  Will do the Farmers Market on Byfleet Green 1st Weekend of Dec if it is on if she has not been found.  Keep updated we need to find this Old Girl.   Cheers Karen.

I wasn't able to get over to your neck of the woods today as I seem to have picked up some kind of flu-ey virus, but did manage to walk around locally and poster some more shops, another park, pubs and visited the couple who deliver the local free paper who have agreed to insert flyers into 500 copies this Thursday/Friday - I offered to help but they insisted they were ok. Is there any more hope about the couple who visited the pub near Jodie's home?Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Last night we postered Mill lane (right down the bottom and the entrance to the Wisley bridleway,  The Fullerton Road entrance to Mill lane, Outside the school, nr Sanway Road, Godley Road, Silvermere Road and the footpath to Wisley at the end.  Camphill Road West Byfleet, Footpath sign entrance to Dodds Lane, one near Fullbrook School and footpath there.  Jackie will try to go into the Silvermere riding school tonight.  Tonight I will do Ottershaw Park and entrances off the A320 + Rowtown to catch any dog walkers etc.   Annieb we have put flyers thru quite a few houses near where Jodie lives but have not done much of Sheerwater or the Old Woking Road or round Pets at Home.  I think there is a Farmers Market tomorrow at Woking can anyone hand out Flyers there.  I can print loads if anyone needs them.   Karen 07799 07 1166.

ceg, a vet told me yesterday the kennels they talked about in Slough are the Battersea overflow kennels, so any dog taken in would be checked against records for both Battersea and Slough, so as long as Battersea is phoned regularly, that will cover both kennels.I will drive to West Byfleet tomorrow and around. Will also flyer local housesLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

I have put posters up in Wisley village and Wisley common car park but not Wisley Gardens. I've done Cobham Waitrose, Sainsburys and town centre but not the pet shop there which was closed on Sun. Haven't done Chobham village yet. Have to be in London tomorrow but will try to cover more vets/pet shops/kennels between Byfleet and Kingston on Thursday. Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

I have phoned all kennels I could find in the Byfleet/Ripley/Woking areas. Most referred me to Treetops, which is where any stray dogs in the Guildford area are taken - they have Jodie's details but haven't taken in a dog of her description. As you suggested Annie, I tried SDK, but because Jodie went missing from a postcode in Woking BC area they said they couldn't help, even though I said she might have been sighted in Kingston. I phoned all the kennel numbers I could find in the Slough area - they took Jodie's details although none knew which holding kennels dogs picked up in Kingston would be taken to.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

downey, I was talking about kennels in last post - petshops were in busy trading areas in Tolworth and Berrylands, as well as the large Petsmart on the A3 at Raynes Park. The parks were all fairly local to where I liveLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

downey, actually one was in Chessington and the other in Hersham, both have taken details - I'm trying to cover the areas in and around Kingston. Had 2 near misses today with a stray reportedly matching her handed in by University but turned out to be a cocker!! Whilst postering a newspaper shop, owner told me a dog had just been found by petshop next door, but turned out to be an all black collie - so third time lucky!!?Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Hi annieb, local kennels, petshops etc do you mean local to you ie Kingston.  Hopefully if it is Jodie then we need to do also all local footpaths round Wisley, Wisley Gardens, all Vets and check to see if they have had anything brought in 2 weeks ago for a check up.  Chobham Pet Shop & Waitrose there etc etc.   Will do some more this evening along canal etc and advise where we have done.  If more leaflets are needed to hand out etc I can leave them with Jodies owners for collection.   Fingers crossed the net is closing in.

heres hoping, ceg. Meantime I have phoned couple of local kennels, leafleted pet shops, vets, Petsathome at Shannon Corner, local parks and newspaper shops and handed posters to every dogwalker I came across!  Radio Jackie have put poster on their reception desk but wouldn't put anything out over the air (despite my pleas) as they said it was as much to  protect themselves from hoaxers as the owner from getting hoax calls. Anyway they said they get a lot of visitors to their station. Will have more time tomorrow to go around, maybe visit you, ceg? pay a visit to the pub and help poster around your neck of the woods.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Possible sighting of Jodie at Blue Anchor Pub, 155 High Road Byfleet. A man said that an elderly couple came in several days ago saying they had found a dog and asked if anyone in the pub owned her. The man did not see the dog and is not sure about the exact date - he thinks "a couple of weeks ago" - so could have been two Saturdays ago, the day Jodie went missing. I've been to the pub and left poster and fliers with landlady, also put posters up outside around it and more up on Byfleet Rec. Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Tks for all  responses, have also spoken to Dog Warden all this contact she should not fall thru the System.   Paula yes u are correct, if someone else picks up & takes out of area she could end up at either Battersea?s etc., hope you feel better soon.   Also thank you to Riverlady for your advice we will follow this up also, keep up the good work annieb just in case she was picked up then dumped in Kingston (no stone unturned).  Last night postered Dartnell Park Road, Canal Locks at Byfleet, Byfleet Green. Taxi Firm 350350 Cars - putting posters in Cabs and in front window of cab office.  Tonight will poster Lyne Park, Ottershaw Park and Footpaths in Ottershaw towards Woking.  There is a Farmers Market in Woking on Thursday 19th I think, so will discuss with Owners if anyone can get along hand out leaflets, I can do Byfleet one 1st weekend of Dec if she has not been found by then.   We will go out and walk Byfleet on Saturday, checking woods and ditches.  All we need is one call just one.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Hi, Considering where this dog has gone missing from and the fact that it is walked at the back of Dodds Lane that she may be possibly hiding out around West Hall/Mouchel. This backs directly on to the back of Dodds Lane. There are a small number of cotttages and a small stable yard down there and a few offices. It may also be worth seeing the builders at the old MOD site there that is being developed, they have 24 hr security too. This area also backs out onto the canal in Byfleet, so it may be worth dropping in a poster to the Anchor, and to the golf course. I will print off some posters today, but will not be able to get out and poster until Sunday. hope this helps. Jackie.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Thanks for the new poster Yasa. As for the Kingston sighting Im not so sure (but would be happy to be proved wrong) Unless she was taken there by car I dont see how Jodie (who has some arthritus) could have made it to Kingston in 2 days. She would have had to cross several very busy roads and its 12 miles-ish. Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

I am sure the dog I saw on Tuesday afternoon was Jodie. She seemed ok, a bit wary, ran into the road and barked at a car, only moving when the driver beeped at her. No sighting since. This was in a residential area south of Kingston, no real heavy fast traffic areas, so she may have found refuge in the local cemetery or there is a large area of recycling and sewerage plants nearby where she could hide out. I will poster around tomorrow and visit the cemetery and the areas behind the recycling plant. Is there anyone in the Kingston area who could also poster?Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Have received a reply and have updated the records. Jodie bolted from her house in West Byfleet (near Woking) in Surrey when she heard fireworks. She belongs to my parents but the mobile number on the poster is mine - I have the phone with me all the time and live close to the area. Jodie is spayed and is medium build (about 20 kg). She has a fairly smooth medium-length coat. She doesn’t have any scars but does have some small (benign) flesh-coloured growths. She is friendly towards people but is very frightened of loud or sudden noises (thunder, gunshots, fireworks etc) and is particularly frightened of refuse collection trucks. Many thanks for the poster and for all your help,Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Jodie is very frightened of fireworks and bolted out of her elderly owners house on Saturday evening. Posters are going up and vets, dog wardens etc have been contacted. Jodie has some arthritus but is otherwise a fit dog for her age. All help gratefully appreciated. Jodie is microchipped and was wearing a collar but no id tag.   Phot should be emailed to admin as soon as owners daughter can scan it in  Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18
