It's fantastic Rosie has been caught finally !!. I'm amazed she ended up at LGI as the sightings had been around Whinmoor. I'm just so glad she is safe as the roads are so very busy around Leeds. She needs some spoiling after her little adventure.  Can we have a reunited pic if possible ?   Welcome home Rosie   Helen xxxxxLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Couldnt believe my eyes - so pleased to see Rosie has been found and amazed at how far she has travelled, from the outskirts of Leeds to the centre of town and through such busy roads.  Thank goodness she's safe.

We had to go up to York this morning and on the way back stopped off to search for Rosie. We drove around in the areas she has been sighted in  for around 2 hours but sadly no sign of her. A lot of the areas she has been seen in are criss crossed with so many paths, cut throughs and alley ways which I should imagine Rosie has become very familiar with and is using to her advantage. Come on Rosie we all want to see you back safe and sound xx PamLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

We were at the tennis court area for 1.40pm drove and walked around Hebden Approach/ Green etc , went all around the backs of the houses . Had a look around the industrial estate that backs onto the tennis courts  . Went  around white laithes area and Naburns but no sightings . Stopped a couple of dog walkers but sadly no one had seen her today  but they were all aware of her and one had seen her earlier in the week

No more sightings of Rosie for a couple of days. On the first night the trap was left at Thorner the food was taken from the trap  without activating it ! We do not know if this was Rosie or not but since then a neighbours cat has been caught in the trap on a number of occasions ! Pam Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

we went over to Thorner this afternoon with the trap and met up with Sara from the RSPCA. She took us to the garden where Rosie has been seen recently and we set the  trap up  there. Walked and drove around this area  till around 5.30 and then drove about in the area  around the Pendas arms until about 6pm. Sadly no sightings of Rosie for us today but hoping she goes into that trap tonight ! x Pam Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Just to let people know, there is a second dog in the area of the pendas arms who looks very similar to Rosie, but is not a stray. She is owned, her name is pippa, she just "wanders" occaisionally. She is wearing a collar and has a whiter face. She also has a bit more weight on her than rosie.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

More SIGHTINGS of Rosie yesterday in the Thorner area. She has been  taking food from a ladies garden and has been sighted around the Mexborough pub. We are taking over another trap this afternoon to use in this area. She is apparently either getting braver or more hungry and is approaching people for food  but still wont let ayone close to her.. fingers crossed Rosie gives herself up soon x PamLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

On National Pet Register there is a puppy miniature Jack Russell missing from Swarcliffe that they think may be heading to their relatives in Scholes. He went missing yesterday. I've sent them an email to advise registering him on here as well. I can't get over to help look as I'm recovering from flu unfortunately, but could people also look out for this little one, he's called Russ. They haven't put a contact number on the poster.   Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Helen , that sounds to be the same dog I spotted on the 12th following the sighting on Barwick Road/Leeds road as it also had a bushy tail . It did make me wonder if the sighting was this dog and not Rosie . I informed  Gemma ( Gremlin) so the rspca are aware that there is another dog similar .
Finally got out again this afternoon ( after problems yesterday ) drove and walked around the white laith/naburn roads area but sadly saw nothing  So many people now know about her but she just seems to get the better of  us all
I really hope Rosie allows herself to be caught soon xx

I'm SO sorry for causing concern ( but thank you  !! ) but I am fine, I got sidetracked last night which is why I didn't update but have spoken to RSPCA this afternoon . Unfortunately I didnt see Rosie yesterday. Stayed in and around the area from 3pm until about 6.30pm. It's harder now the nights get dark early. Went all around the Stanks area and onto Leeds Road (drove up to Scholes and back ) back down to John Smeaton College then went back through Stanks and under the A64 up to the area around the Pendas Arms pub , the "Naburns" and White Laithe area. It's so frustrating to think that I could have missed her by minutes whilst looking for her I also spoke to a few people who are aware of Rosie and are keeping a lookout for her which is great. I did see a sandy coloured dog when I got onto Laburn Close which wasnt Rosie as had a bushier tail and do wonder if perhaps SOME of the sightings may be of this one ?. I followed it down a track backing onto the beck behind the houses on Laburn Close there are fields off to the left, the path finally ends at Leeds Road ( opposite the road to John Smeaton College ) but lost it. Having said that, we DO know Rosie is still in the area as she has been positively sighted by the people who do know her One lady is putting food down which is close to where ROSIE has been sighted today and I understand this is where the trap is being placed today. I just hope she stays around the estate where the sightings have been as it is in the middle of a "triangle" of extremely busy roads. Leeds Ring Road and the A64 so if she can be kept in this area she will be safe. Come on Rosie show yourself again AND please let yourself be caught !! Helen xxLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

seen around 3.30 pm today near the penadas arms pub again, but ran off again. no the dog in springfield is not rosie, it came in the day before she went missing. I went there the day after to check. Her coat is not quite that rough either but is very close. Local and out of area dog wardens are informed, she is microchipped and also the rspca inspectors are aware in case of any injured dogs been found. thanks for the help everyoneLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Furlover - Area Co-ordinator, West Yorkshire
Went through today and went from A64 onto Scholes Road into Scholes and put some posters up also called in the shop and the post office who also will display posters  Then onto  Barwick-in Elmet ( replaced posters there that were water damaged) pub said they will put poster up too. Went onto Potterton, came back to Barwick, and then went out to Aberford area -- looped back to Barwick.  Didnt see anything :-(    It was only when got back to Barwick and went into a shop the man informed me some children had been in today, saw the poster and said they thought they had seen a dog this morning near "the bridge"  however, the information he had was very vague  and he didnt have a time of the supposed sighting.   Went back to Scholes to check around as there is a bridge on the main Scholes Road . Near the bridge there is a  road which turns into a dirt track there are fields on both sides and there were quite a few dog walkers. Stopped and spoke to  them, and gave them each posters so they at least have the contact numbers.  One lady did say she had seen a tan dog trotting down the road today  which she thought was odd -but couldn't remember exactly location or what time.  I gave her a poster and also put my details on . She said when she remembers where she saw this dog she will ring me or the contact no on the poster. I'm hoping that Rosie is the dog that has been seen and fingers crossed that another confirmed sighting will come in asap so we can see which way she is heading. Stay safe Rosie xx   Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Just had an offer of help with searches if needed. The lady lives in South Leeds and says that if there is a sighting she could make her way over to help with a search. This was on another forum where Susiechin has posted Rosie's details. I added to the post that Rosie is extremely nervous and that nobody should attempt to chase or catch Rosie, but to contact RSPCA immediately. more SIGHTINGS of ROSIE this morning !!!!!!!!!!! a few sightings around 8-9 am  near the WELLINGTON PUB on WETHERBY ROAD and later seen heading off along WHINMOOR LANE in the direction of Chadwell. It is clear there is now a definite area she is staying within and RSPCA helpers and owners are out searching for her. Also a lady has reported the food she is leaving out in her garden is being taken possibly by Rosie as it is within this area so this may be a good place to leave a trap if she is already visiting there. two sightings of rosie overnight and today, seems she is running non stop. She was sighted by a van driver out towards wetherby and again by a lady walking her dog ( who she did approach but she spooked when the lady offered her a treat). I will get exact locations tomorrow but please if you are in that area or even further out (knaersborough, harrogate, tadcaster, collingham etc) and you see a dog matching her description, it could be her so please let us know anyway. Dog wardens outside of area are now informed too and local vets. I imagine she will be running even more with all the noise over the next few days.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

She is frightened at the moment and dissorientated, but she knows wher her bread is buttered and should be able to scent her way home. I have emailed this info to owners, but you can join in too, if you are in the area. If she knows you - then we can add your scent to owners, to help her home. I take it you are in contact with her, so please tie up, and help each other. xLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18
Gremlin
Hi, Rosie was adopted from us (local rspca branch) just two days ago, so as yet she does not know the area. She went missing from Pendas fields, but was sighted twice in the Stanks area. We have all been out searching for hours today and tonight to try get this girl home safe. She is a very nervous dog and is very nervous of people, if appraoched she will most likley bolt so please if you see her near a road be very careful as she may run out into traffic to get away from people. She is microchipped but as yet the paperwork hasn't gone through having only being home for 2 days, but we have contacted petlog tonight and got her on the overnight emails and can fully register it tomorrow. We are contacting local vets and will be putting up as many posters as we can tomorrow in the area. she will likley be hiding somehwere quiet as she was a long term behavioural dog as she was totally unsocialised when she came in.Please please if in the area keep your eyes peeled, she will be terrified and tomorrow night will be sheer hell for her. If you see her contact her on the owners number above or you can also ring us on 07743 773871 leave a message if you don't get through we are desperate for information  Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Owner, so sorry Rosie is misssing after slipping her lead. Could you post a comment on here please, and tell us exactly where in the area she was lost and last seen. Also does she know the area? I mean, was she walked to the area on foot, so should in theory be able to find her way back? If this is so, Please leave the the way open, (door or gate at laest) in case she can find her way back. If you need to shut the door, leave bedding and food and water by the door. If she has gone missing and probably wont be able to find her way home, then please leave an item of your clothing near to where she got lost, as I'm sure she will be back looking for you and trying to pick up your scent. You also need hundreds of posters up in the area of loss, and a bit further away as quickly as possible. Please be sure to also poster the pubs and pub car parks. I will email some information through to you. Good luck with finding her, and if you could keep us informed via this page, it would be to your advantage. Basically, it helps us to help you.  Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18
