Louis's owner Tina and I have been in touch regularly since that time when Louis was missing. It was a group effort between Leona, Dani, myself and Tina to get Louis found and it was one of those memorable days that will never leave my memory. He was a lovely and very handsome boy who was loved immensely by his family and will be much missed. xx

So pleased that you got your lovely boy back and he was able to spend all his remainder of years in happiness and in the knowledge that he was loved. RIP Louis xx

This is a tribute to Louis, who was stolen from my friend Tina and recovered with the help of a group of us Doglost helpers, from a junkie a few years ago. Louis left for Rainbow bridge yesterday at the grand age of 15 and will be missed beyond belief by his family and many more.

Louis the wonder dog, patio pooper, carpet chewer, connoisseur of fine chocolates, midwife and friend has now left us. He was 15 and a legend. He was the best staffy in the world xxxLast edited: 2013-02-19 09:26:29 by Sable - Regional Co-ordinator - Scotland

Well I had the pleasure of meeting the lovely Louis this morning and he is a delight. You would never know he had been on an adventure but he his clearly delighted to be home, his little tail did not stop wagging the whole visit !! Louis is a gorgeous boy, and as Linda has said, I think the person who had him had no idea how old he was as he does not act like a 12yr old dog. Love you Louis and glad you are home where you belong xxx   Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Have added another photo of Louis to show what a lovely boy he is. Goodness knows what he has been through while he has been away but he is absolutely, totally exhausted and has done nothing but sleep since he came home. Perhaps the person who unlawfully kept him, did not realise he was an older dog. Here's hoping he makes a quick recovery with the TLC his owner will give him.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Greatest thanks ever to Leona (AR), Danni & Christine  from Staffie Rescue  and Tina the owner and her family who were absolutely brilliant in their efforts to get him home and safe. Consistant  perseverence paid off in postering , advertising and searching. We have all worked together as a fantastic team to get this handsome boy, Louis, home again. Not forgetting the member of the public who gave us the snippet of information that  we needed to get this dog home. Welcome Home LOUIS, you handsome boy. xxLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Despite last night handing out fliers and talking to people at a local bonfire in the area when Louis was seen last,  there is still no recent news of him yet. It is really surprising that although he has been advertised  in three local papers there are no further sightings since last Monday and the sighting came as a result of posters. I am so hoping he is safe somewhere.Louis where are you? Show us where to look. I am now wondering if he has wandered farther away over the last week. He was seen heading up North Saughton road last, so he might have kept walking further away. Why has nobody seen him?Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

I think that would be a great idea to start a rota basis with parties of people looking all around the area and also knocking on doors for people who have not seen poster, or flier and do not get the paper that the ads are in if someone could organise it. Wherever he is, I think it is not far from the baker / butcher area, as he is seen in the streets around there, although saying that , the baker has poster in window and has been looking out for him, and has not reported seeing him there again since Friday. He was seen not far from there though on Monday, wandering up the main road area. He is most likely to still be in that area, as at his age he could not wander too far and he will be tired and weary now.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

I know that Tina had dotted clothing around the area and food too. The weather has been bad so all the scents may have been washed away. I know she intended doing it all again. Tina's family are going to a big bonfire party tonight in a local park to talk to people, ask if there have been any sightings and hand out flyers. There will be food like burgers being cooked there so we are hoping it may flush out Louis if he is brave enough to come out from where he is hiding. I have called dog warden and various shops where he has been sighted before, today, to see if anything has been seen but there is no news.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Sorry no luck tonight - spent time in Union Park and surrounding areas, out with the torch looking at areas he may shelter in.    Also spoke with a number of people to spread the word - you would be surprised the number of people who know this dog is missing, down to all the postering etc. that everyone has done. Tina has already left an item of clothing near Union Park. We might need to consider getting a group of us together (with allocated time slots) to try & concentrate on spending a day/all night vigil roaming the streets looking for Louis. Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Just wondering if Tina has tried the garlic sausage, pichards in your pocket trick something really smelly may draw him out. Sable I do think there are so many places he could hole up in the area, the amoung of gardens that had no gate and thick undergrowth is amazing - and lots of green areas that he could get himself lost in. At work at the moment but will drive round after midnight - unfortunately no pilchards to hand :(Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Firework night tomorrow. Please help us find him before then. Knock at doors in Carrick Knowe, ask people in the street - anything, but help us get him home. He is an old man who needs to be home and he is lost, cold, hungry, tired, frightened, weary. Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Lots of activity going on in the search for Louis. If we could just get a clue of where he is sheltering we could have him home very soon. I have called the dog warden just now, to relay the information of another sighting of him.DW has been driving around the area but has not seen him up to now.I am wondering if someone is taking him in during the night, feeding him, and turning him out in the day if they have to go out to work. There must be something keeping him in this area of Carrick Knowe.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Thanks very much Star of Jade. He must be sheltering somewhere and venturing out when he feels able to. People must have seen him tottering around. We just need a bit of good luck to catch him and he can be home with his mum. The person who saw him on Monday is going to look out for him too as he lives in the area. Do you think he can be sheltering in Union Park area? Are there any places around there where he can hide?Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Louis has been seen in Carrick Knowe area again on Monday around tea-time. Just further up a bit from the area known as Union Park. Please look out for him there and everywhere around there. This means that he has maybe not been taken in by someone and must have been sheltering somewhere over the weekend of horrendous rain. Where he is finding food I do not know. Perhaps he is existing on scraps from the streets or looking in bins. Come on Louis, just let us see where you are and you can be home soon.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Was out today and put posters up outside Tesco (Corstorphine) - no community board in shop, Corstorphine Heritage Park, Saughton Park, Asda (Chesser) - no community board will put up in staff canteen area, handed out flyers to dog walkers at park at longstone which covers up to wester hailes, poster put up inside/outside Lonstone Bus Depot and spoke to some bus drivers, poster/flyers to PDSA Pet Hospital (chesser) and put some posters up in stenhouse area. My sister will hand in poster/flyers to prison officers club at longstone and hand in flyers to shops in that area. Had a wander round some of the parks today but unfortunately no sightings and spoke to a council employee who patrols parks for owners not picking up after their dogs - took a poster/flyers and will hand out at work. Have suggested to Tina to put a posting on Edinburgh Gumtree - also has local vets been targeted? Please be safe Louis - we so desperately want to find you, give us a sign please. Hi Tina, If he was there wednesday evening, I wonder why he would then come back over to carricknowe as he would have come back the way he came and woudl have been passing home again to do that?? So wonder whether the dog sighted here is the same dog, or whether the one over at longstone was different dog, or elst he may have gone back down this way via another underpass?? or over the main road? 2 sightings over two days at the bakers here is good i think as if it is him then he is staying in the same area.  I spoke to loads of dog owners in the park this morning ( Union Park)       I think camping out here tonight ( well not literally but coming late night and coming back early morning would be really beneficial. fingers crossed       Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Louie has been spotted outside the baker shop at Carricknowe area. Hello, Have spoken to owner last night,  Louis is missing from Saughton Road/Broomhouse area of Edinburgh,  and we have a missing ad on our dog forum, as well as on our rescue forum.  I postered last night on the second night he is missing, at Broomhoue primary school, shops at Carricknowe, lamposts and bustops up saughton road and on calder road.  I also postered Union Park.  I am going out again just now to put up more posters.  Any volunteers in this area would be great to go door to door to see if we can find Louis.
