Akita for stud he is 4 years old really good with kids brilliant temperment. black mask and white paws,also sandy would pull out some beautiful coloured puppies. There's a akita on dogsblog today.  Currently in Devon but picked up as a stray in Yorkshire.  It is a brown dog, described as 18 months, but worth a look by owners?  http://www.dogsblog.com/category/all-dogs-needing-homes/

I have not been able to make any contact woth Reko's owners at all. Neither phone  number is receiving calls and so far my emails have not been replied to. Pam

With the exception of a young female Akita puppy that was sold by the pound, and one highly aggressive and frankly dangerous dog, FOA has taken every other Akita from Springfield, so if he was one of these dogs, then he will be safe - however he may well be re-homed. There has been a huge number of Akitas at the other pound that covers South Yorkshire. Who can I contact abut getting found Akitas on here?x

I  have been unable to make phone contact with Reko's owners. The landline is not  accepting incoming calls at the moment and the mobile is'nt ringing through. I will drop them an email asking again  for a photo and or update on Reko.There have been a few Akitas at Springfield since he went missing and it is worrying one of them may have been him !

Lizzie there is a post for that date that says the same thing but it refers to a Husky - can't find one for an Akita? If there is a photo I can tell you instantly if that Akita has been to the pounds that take dogs in West & South Yorkshire as we get the calls to try and help the dogs on death row.

Hope I'm not confusing matters but just noticed a tan, male Akita, on National Pet Database found in Wakefield and logged on 25.10.09. Finder says he was hungry and could have been missing a while?

I'm not sure what happened to him, it would be nice if the Wakefield dog warden posted information on this site like some of the others do.  I was at work, my husband kept hold of him as my neigbour who is another register helper couldn't wait with him.  He had a collar on but no tag and didn't scan for a chip.

Joybell I telephoned both pounds that take Wakefield dogs as soon as I saw the found notice on this boy, both denied taking in a male, I continued to check as they have had other dogs in there that we have been trying to help. We took a silver/black/ white male from there about 6 / 8 weeks ago. I assume the one you have the video of went back to the owner?

I have a video of the Akita registered on 6/10 found in a neigbours garden.  The Wakefield dog warden collected him.  He was grey and white.

Both Akitas that have been at Springfield in the last week or two have been female. We were alerted to one being brought into Mt Pleasant and one of our volunteers went to asses yesterday, as she arrived the owners of the Akita were leaving with him, having reclaimed him - they told our assessor that he had escaped when the gate had blown down - they were in the Doncaster area, could this be the dog in question?

There is an Akita on our found pages which was registered on 6th October as found in the Wakefield area. I dont think colours match but its worth checking out just in case. Also a found one at Springfield kennels ..........again i dont think the colours match but photos can be deceptive. This may well be the same dog as the found one one i have mentioned above I also believe that up until a few days ago there was another Akita at Springfield which was a dark blonde ot light tan. This dog has now gone from their website and may have been claimed by owners OR sent out to a rescue so again its worth giving thm a call to check this out. x Pam

I am sorry to see that Reko is missing and thankyou for registering him with doglost. I have text you asking for a postcode and area of S.Yorks he is missing from and also requesting a photo to be sent into us at admin@doglost.co.uk. Please contact all dog wardens, vets and local stray kennels ASAP if you have not done so already as they only only have to keep stray dogs for 7 days before they can rehome or send them out to a rescue. Depending on where you are in S.Yorks your local stray kennel should be SPRINGFIELD KENNELS OSSETT WAKEFIELD  PHONE ...01924 271028 or   MOUNT PLEASANT KENNELS WAKEFIELD ROAD HAMPOLE DONCASTER   PHONE .01302 722748 Also POSTER as much as you can to raise as much oublic awareness as possible
