Thank you all for your comments. Debs thank you also for your offer of help, I will bear that in mind and I will take you up on it if I need help. Last week the dogwarden came out on the night feeds to try & catch the dog. We placed food in the middle of his grasper and waited. Dog came out ate the food but managed to escape when the grasper was pulled. This dog is unbelievably quick..lightning reactions!! This morning we set a trap, we will cut back all food from the feeding area and feed in the trap instead. Fingers crossed. I just hope this works.  Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Posted information from Biggsd. this dog sex unknown has been a stray for possible as far back as february.  Whatever the circumstances this dog is extreemly warey of any approach. it has taken weeks of careful feeding from a lovely lady - known as Skyes mum at BIGGSD to gain trust and she is now able to hand feed- with his expensive tastes of chicken and high quality meat!! Any attempt or sudden movement to try to capture causes the dog to bolt. Sex is unknow but feel could be female that maybe has had pups in the past due to low stomach.  dog is wearing a red collar. This could be a dog stolen taken well out of area- used and then either escaped or dumped.   There are more pictures and infomration on this link - page 11 is the most recent shots taken to show markings http://s10.zetaboards.com/biggsd/topic/7165425/11/ I have the phone number of the person doing this wonderful job- hoping this lovely dog is soon caught- anyone wanting more info can do so via BIGGSD or via doglost where we will pass your number on to them.  CJ  Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Thanks Skye's mum, you are doing a fantastic job.  I've cropped the new photo in Image Box 2 to bring it closer.  Does look like a female and in good condition considering being out for so long.  Jan xLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

The dog is doing really well, it continues to come to the feeding area & it has now gained some trust with me. It regularly eats from my hand and im confident it won't be long before this little one is caught. It is wearing a red collar with no tags.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Thanks Dave... Well tonight I had a breakthrough, the dog approached me for food, I threw bits of sausage towards it and it slowly came closer until it was about a foot away. It even took a piece from my hand. Im certain this dog is female and its wearing a red collar. I will have a look through all the lost dogs again tomorrow, this baby is someones pet. If all goes as well as tonight I should hopefully be able to get the dog without sedatives..its slowly beginning to trust me. Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

This dog looks quite "beefy" so is obviously getting enough food. Would it be prudent for someone to set a trap for this poor little mite? He looks so beautiful. Hope he is caught soon.

Thanks Skye's Mum I've spoken to Spencer's family and they have looked at this GSD it is not Spencer.  They are still actively looking for him and went to see a few dogs in Wales at the weekend.  Their other GSD did have pups not long after they got her back and Spencer is the dad, they have kept one which is the image of his dad his name is Murphy.  Jan xLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Hiya, I managed to get a couple of pictures, unfortunately they are not great, it was nearly midnight with only 1 street lamp nearby. The dog is much lighter in colour around the front area than the picture shows. I don't believe this dog is Chelsea. Chelsea's owners had come and seen the dog a couple of months ago and were certain it wasn't her. I'll go back and look at her picture again. We also had Zeuss' owners come and look (from Kent), although the dog looked very much like Zeuss the owner could not be certain. We are continuing with the feeding routine and hopefully within the next couple of weeks we will be able to sedate and capture the dog (with the help of the dog warden). Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

This dog has been straying in Knebworth since around Feb this year. I have set up a feeding routine with the help of a local resident, to encourage the dog to return to the same area & build up its trust with us. Last night I got a pretty good look at the dog, it was less than 10 feet away. It appears to be either a small male or a female GSD. It has a semi long coat, particularly long and fluffy around the back legs. The front of the dog appears to be more medium coat. The dog is blk/tan with a solid black colour, shaped similar to a saddle on its back and very light coloured undercoat around its tummy, back legs. Its head appears very slightly smaller than the body, it has a fairly short coat around its face/neck.  It has a very thick tail, black at the top..fading towards grey/tan halfway down.  It had what appeared to be a collar or band of light fur around its neck, couldn't really be certain (unfortunately it only comes at night..so was almost dark) It is a very timid dog..will not approach humans. Hopefully once it gains our trust we will be able to get near enough to catch it. The dog warden is aware of this dog and has been trying to catch it for months..fingers crossed for us. If anyone recognises the description of the dog please get in touch. I am trying to get a photo of it..and will post one up when I get one. Thanks. Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18
