I would just like to say another big THANK YOU to everyone who left messages on Eric's page it really did help me and my family whilst we were looking for him.  Eric is very tired but no injuries and doesn't seem to have suffered too much from his experience camping out the last two nights - unlike the rest of us!! I am extremely grateful to the lady who found him in her garden and called the council straight away this morning and will be taking some flowers to her this afternoon. Eric is currently sitting by my feet snoring away, we are so incredibly grateful to have him home with us. Thank you again to Jo from DogLost for all your help and support it really did make a difference. Liza and Family (+Eric!!)

ERIC IS HOME!!! Just had a very ecstatic Liza on the phone. A lady found him in her garden in Thundersley, he was hiding behind her swing bless him. She'd actually been away for a day or so, so Eric could quite possibly have been there since Saturday. He still had his lead attached....thank god she wasn't away any longer! Eric was a bit shocked but as soon as he realised his mum was there to take him home he perked up! Welcome home Eric. Liza would like to pass on her thanks to everyone for their support and kind offers of help. Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

10.00am Sorry to hear Eric is missing. I've just got home from walking my dogs on Thundersley Common and on the Little Common. I only noticed one poster for Eric in Gt Burches Road, I didn't see any on either of the commons. I am going out shortly so am unable to help today but if Eric is still missing tomorrow I can put some more posters up locally. I will come on here tonight and see what the situation is and will let you know where I will poster tomorrow. I know all the areas mentioned well as I have walked dogs in the area for the last twenty years so hope I can be of some help to you. If you think Eric has headed onto the Hadleigh Country Park - Benfleet Downs area it would be worth contacting the Salvation Army Farm in Hadleigh as they use the area during the summer for grazing cattle. Would also be worth postering Benfleet and Leigh railway stations as the train line is adjacent to the Country Park and you get a good view of the area from the train. I have a lot of doggie contacts in the area that I will contact asap. I don't drive but if you urgently need any help please contact me on 07759021282. Fingers crossed Eric is home soon MarionLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Thanks everyone for your offers of help, I know it will be very much appreciated by Liza and family who are working so hard to find Eric. Fingers crossed he misplaced his collar and lead and was then taken in by someone and being the weekend they didn't know who to call etc, but come tomorrow morning that will change and the nightmare for Liza will be over! A4 poster and also smaller flyers now done for Eric, have emailed them over to Liza. If any helpers would also like these sent to them, please post here or email doglostessex@hotmail.com. Thanks!Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

I live along Hart Road in Thundersley and will certainly pass the word on and keep an eye out.  I will be walking around the fields by Little Havens/Daws Heath tomorrow and will put a poster up in there.  It seems you have covered my area but please let me know if I can help you at all.  If he does head to Canvey he could go the Hadleigh Castle route and there is a lot of open field as I am sure you know, maybe worth a look and another area to poster. Please let me know if I can help at all and most of all stay positive, the weather is on his side and he will be more than able to keep himself out of trouble. Fingers and paws crossed that tomorrow sees him home safely. Sarah xLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

We will be going back to all of these areas on Monday to add more posters and extend the area as much as possible.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Posters and flyers have been distributed down Common Lane, Triton Way, Hart Road, Runnymede, Chase, Rayleigh Road, West Wood, Shipwrights Drive, The Common, Essex Way, Benfleet Station, Hadleigh Country Park, top of Vicarage Hill.  He made his way from Common Lane down Triton Way through the mobile home site down the side of Cedar Hall School through into the fields behind.  Unconfirmed siting at Shipwrights Drive at 1.30 p.m. on Saturday 11th, we have also posted flyers around The Glen and Shipwrights Wood, there have been no more sitings since then.  I have left messages with local kennels and will be visiting them and vets, pet shops on Monday offering a reward for this safe return. This is not a familiar area to Eric we think he might try to make his way back to Canvey Island where I live but to do this he would have to come through Hadleigh/Benfleet and as yet there has been no further sightings.  Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Hope Eric is home soon! My hubby is a postie in Thundersley - will take a sliplead with him tomorrow and keep a look out for him. Was he familiar with the area and therefore possibly likely to return to were he went missing from or were you just visiting?    Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Hi, if owners need any help can prob do a day this week helping to searchLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

For any local helpers - Eric jumped out the car and ran off from Common Lane, Thundersley. From there he went up Triton Way, across Kingsleigh Caravan Park and towards Warren Chase. Possible, but not definite sighting near The Glen, off Shipwrights Drive. He and his owners actually live on Canvey so he is heading in the direction of home if the sighting was him. When he ran off he had his collar and lead on. Owners are doing a fantastic job, been out there searching, postering etc spreading the word. Will send scenting guidelines over and let helpers in the area know. Hoping Eric is home very soon Liza. xLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Photo re-loaded to bring closer. There is a poster available to print from Eric's page, by clicking on DOG POSTER 1, above dog detail boxes left hand side. You need to be registered and logged in to do this. I hope Eric is home soon. We need hundreds of posters up as quickly as possible, and handed out to dog walkers.  Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18
