Thank you JoJo-C for your update. I'm very sorry you don't have Paddy back. I was hoping for a happy outcome. It must be heartbreaking for you and your family not knowing what has happened to him. I will still remember Paddy when out walking, just in case.  xxLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Hi no we have not found paddy no response at all to the posters. Have searched all websites and re-homing sites I feel something must have happened to him. He was an old dog and not very well. I would just like to find him for closure at least.
I so appreciate all the help from you all
Jo

have the kennels in yorkshire been in touch.......... if not then ring them..........i know they are busy but surely someone can at least check out paddy's distinguishing marks........... or is there someone on here local to that area who could go into the kennels and take some photo's???? don't give up he IS out there somewhere xxLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

This dog on lost dog yorkshire does look very like mine. Hard to tell from photo I asked the kennel if they could take some more photos and check out certain things, but they were not very helpful said they might tonight if not busy. In fact really unhelpful I felt I was a right nusiance  I am hoping they will sent more photos so that I can then make a decision whether he is ours or not. He has bare elbows for instance. I just wanted some help from them to decide as it is a long journey and It is hard to get time off work. Also it seems so unlikely he would stray that far. I don't know?Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

i really feel for you.......it is so frustrating isn't it :( every day phone the holding kennels where the dog wardens takes strays.......phone the dog wardens... does the vet in letchworth have a poster up in the waiting room? did you put an advert in the local paper?.....if someone has taken him in or even handed him in somewhere they may see it and then be able to contact you. look through these pages here and see if there is anything you haven't done yet that you were advised to do.........also look through th advice emailed to you by `angus' . don't think we will forget paddy because we won't........will keep on looking...... checking found labs on other sites regularly :) xxLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

I still have no sighting or word. Do any of the dogwardens check this web when they take in a dog? I have tried as many as I could find, many are not very helpful and the service does not seem intergrated. Could he have been re-homed is there anything else I can do.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

No sighting or reply for local posters But a labrador dog has been found in clayton west in very bad condition. Is there any possibility that he could have gone that far or am I being fanciful? He does walk a long distance every day. Can you help me please joLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

jo jo c it can be very frustrating i know...  you could try doing a leaflet drop to all surrounding houses and ask on the leaflets for everyone to check outbuildings and sheds and ponds.... don't give up with the posters...they are a really important way of alerting people to the fact there is a black lab who is missing... so if they see him they will know how to contact you. wymondley woods is not far from you.........and a great place for him to be hiding out... it may be worth blitzing the car park etc with posters.... and all supermarket carparks in the area. you have our full support and we will continue to look out for him and spread the word xxLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Am so confused dog wardens are unhelpful and often not there. The council when I metioned I was putting up posters said this was flytipping. I have tried everywher in 100 mile radius. Help I am now stuck.... he is an old dog who needs his medicationLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Keep postering, the more people see Paddy is missing the more eyes you have out there looking for him.  Alfmar has lots of good advise through personal experience, well worth following. Be strong, don't give up, Paddy must be out there somewhere. Walked in Stotfold today, without a sighting not sure where to centre search. xx  Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

owners....i know i keep saying it but you must get posters up EVERYWHERE they really are the key here.... just put them wherever people go... refer to the list of places at the bottom of paddy's page here. just keep at it... we are all hoping he'll be home soon xxLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

I'm sorry I wasn't able to speak to you this morning Jojo-C, I expect you were out searching for Paddy. We have been postering and looking, again sadly without result. Have there been any sightings? The Golf Club have kindly said they would put up a couple of posters so that will help spread the word. We also put some at Baldock Road post office and dotted along the streets and at two entrances to Wymondley Wood. We have chatted to dog walkers and others so that means more eyes are looking for Paddy. I'm not sure when we will be able to go out again but will try if only for a short while. Keep postering. Good Luck xx  Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

local helpers will be out again today..... where do you think posters should go?? i was thinking down towards hitchin as it is vv busy on a work morning ie tom... the roundabout at the bottom of harkness hill and first set of traffic lights would be a really good place to poster in case he went that way. putting as many posters up as you can will be the most productive thing you can do right now..........if someone has taken him in then they will know who to call. xxLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Thanks alfmar and Jodeam for all your help. Poster updated to include reward and collar details.  Fingers crossed once the posters get in the right place and if not found before the BH is over you get the call you are waiting for when authorities etc are back at work.  Good luck.  Jan x  Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

missing from hitchin rd letchworth spoken to owners........ paddy has wandered previously but has always come back quickly... this is very unusual.they have phoned the dog warden but because of bank hol weekend get re directed straight to kennels....also vets are closed for weekend. have advised on scenting and postering like crazy...... also have relatives locally that will help with search/postering. letchworth golf club should be informed as there's a lot of open space there..try and get a poster down to them today :) also harkness roses/wyevale garden centre.try an dget them to put a poster onfront entrance as they will be very busy with people this weekend.... norton common should also be heavily postered lots of dog walkers there. cross posted to dogpages, alfies lost dogs & lost your pet . net owner is sorting out photo for posters xxLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Hi I?m sorry to hear paddy is missing. Firstly contact dog wardens, vets and local rescue centres?local council stray dogs holding kennel give them all a detailed description of your dog with any distinguishing marks/scars.., If you can go down there each day to check for your dog that is the best thing as they only have to hold a dog for 7 days before it can legally be rehomed or in some cases destroyed. It is also worth contacting the local police as if someone has found your dog they may well have contacted them. email admin@doglost.co.uk with a photo please if you haven?t already.Posters can be printed once a photo has been added by selecting Dog Poster 1 just above Dog Information (you must be registered and logged in). Get postering now?..as quickly and as many as you can physically manage. POSTER POSTER POSTER!!!?I cannot emphasize how important this is, from the posters you will get sightings and lots of extra pairs of eyes looking out for your dog. if your dog is tattooed or microchipped, then of course state so in your posters, but remember to phone the tattoo and microchip people... get them to look up your details and confirm they have the best and most current contact numbers for you. And a backup if possible. Poster bus stops, train stations, supermarket/retail park car parks, pet shops petrol stations, lay by snack vans, service stations, bins, poo bins, shopping centres, take away outlets, pubs, lamposts, caf?s, garden centre?s, leisure centre?s,??.basically anywhere people go you need to poster like mad so nobody misses them? ask in as many places as you can if they will display a poster for you. Tell postman and binmen and give them a poster so they have your phone no handy? look up and call all local dog walkers and email them a poster if possible. in fact tell every single person you meet while searching as the more people know the much better chance of getting your dog back quickly. Contact the local newspaper and radio stations? take out an advert with a photo in the papers pets section lost and found. If you believe your dog has been stolen then it is very important you contact the police for a crime reference number?. And the postering publicity should have the aim of not only getting your dog home but making it too hot to handle, also check the area that your dog was taken from?..are there cctv camera?s that could have captured whoever took your dog?. Cross posted to www.Labradorforums.co.uk www.Labradorks.co.uk Good luck xxLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18
