Hi Jayne   Apologies for not sending a photo sooner, Maggie has been to the hairdressers for a tidy up.  I hope you like the picture of all three back together again.  From the left Molly, Maggie and Jock.  Molly & Jock are pleased to have Mags home, and wouldn’t leave her alone, constantly going and checking on her, she just growled back for the first couple of days, but now they are all back to play fighting and being cheeky.   Kind regards Claire Re united photo now on site and update from owner:   Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

I am so very relieved that Maggie is back home. I've been very worried about her, especially with her being sighted near the busy Motorway. Stay safe now little girl. xxLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

My goodness, someone up there must have been looking after this wee girl. It is nearly always a tragic ending for dogs near the motorway. She has certainly been giving everyone the runaround. Welcome home Maggie. Stay safe now. xxLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Maggie's "mom" - This is just the best news ever.  How did you manage to "capture her?"  Maybe a check-up at the vets to make sure all is well once Maggie has settled in at home again would be wise.  It may be worth walking Maggie with a harness in the future to keep her safe too.  Welcome home Maggie - enjoy all the extra TLC you are sure to be getting, and keep safe from now on.  Love and cuddles for you Maggie X

Traffic police are a good idea. Does she like other dogs? If so, do you have another dog or a friend with another dog that you could take to try and entice her to you. Keep going with the smelly food and try and take her away from the motorway. Do you have a bed or basket that you can leave out for her? Better still, a dog crate that she is used to going into? Hope she is in the blue tomorrow.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Maggie's 'mom' - Thanks for the update.  Do the Motorway police know about Maggie?  They may be able to keep an eye out for her and offer help.  Also the Highways Agency.  When you see Maggie avoid eye contact, and get down to her level (yes, hands and knees for a Scottie I'm afraid), talk very quietly and try to get her trust to come to you.  Maybe you and your friend could take books to read and sit quietly talking near where Maggie is, in the hope curiosity may get the better of her.  If she is taking the food you are leaving for her, are you able to gradually place it further away from the motorway, to try to keep her safer.  Maybe your dog warden would be able to offer advice about setting a trap to catch Maggie (although this would have to be manned by someone).  I think she is going to be difficult to catch by other means, especially considering the dangerous location she is in.  Hope this helps you - keep safe Maggie X.  Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

I had 3 sightings of Maggie sitting on the verge of the motorway at 6pm last night, by the time I got there she had gone, but I took your advice, left lots of smelly treats, water and a smelly dog blanket.  I returned early this morning and after waiting about an hour she was spotted through the brambles.  Little monkey was watching us, as soon as my friend moved she ran further up into the undergrowth.  We are sure she was sitting higher up continuing to watch us.  I left her alone, we didn't follow her or try to catch her.  I think it's going to be a case of waiting for her to gain enough confidence to come to me.  Fingers crossed it won't be long now.  Thanks again to everyone for your help and support.  Maggie's mom xLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

There is a little more information about how Maggie came to be 'lost' on www.nationalpetregister.org  - ref no 13515.  Thinking of you -  keep safe and well Maggie until you are reunited with your family.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

If you have had no joy this evening, try going back to the area Maggie was seen in this morning at first light tomorrow (15th), (as dogs usually move around at dawn and dusk) and spend some 'quiet time' here in case Maggie shows herself.  Thinking of you - please keep safe Maggie.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

As much food and scent as you can manage to try and get her away from the motorway. Smelly food, like pilchards, are good. Scotties are greedy and she will be hungrey anyway now. Good luck. Hope she is in the blue tomorrow.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Oh Maggie, what are you doing on a Motorway!  Thank you for updating us, I have bumped Maggie up again so that people in area can see and maybe help with some URGENCY.  I would suggest anyone approaches her with EXTREME CAUTION as she will be easily spooked now she's been out a while.  Lie low and speak very softly you may need to walk away with nice treats to encourage her to follow you rather than the other way round.  Thanks for putting in mags J MO.  Keeping all our paws crossed for good news now.  Stay safe Maggie. xxxxLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Hi everyone, the sighting of Maggie in Dawley Highstreet wasn't her.  She was spotted by a motorist at 7.30 this morning on the m54 embankment!!!!  The driver very kindly stopped and tried to catch her but she fled back up the embankment.  At least I know she has stayed close to where she ran from so I can focus my search around there.  Thank you to everyone who has posted messages.  Fingers crossed tonight I will bring her home.  Maggie's momLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Mags has been sighted in the high street of Dawley, Telford.  This was yesterday afternoon & owner is out looking for Mags with others.  The local community police have been alerted and so has the local area dog warden.  Hopefully now that she's been sighted in a residential area as opposed to where she went missing (by a motorway island with lots of scrubland), we'll have more of a chance of locating her.  She will be found.  Thank you so much for all your help, tips & kind wordsLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Not knowing anything about the area where Maggie went missing, please check any areas of water which may be near by - ponds, streams, houses which may have garden ponds or swimming pools (even if these are covered).  If lost in a wooded area please also check for any rabbit, fox or badger holes.  Any railway lines in the vicinity also need to be checked as they usually offer a good food supply without dogs realising the danger of them.  The second photo of Maggie has been added to www.scottiedoglovers.co.uk.  It would be helpful if owner (or someone who knows Maggie) could update us with what has been done so we may be able to help further. Thinking of you, and hoping your lovely Maggie is reunited with you very soon.   Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Thank you all for your help and advice, I have left maggie's bed where she was last seen and some tasty treats, but unfortunately I think she has gone to ground, no sightings since early Sunday morning, but it was in the area where she ran from.  Thanks for suggesting I focus on that area, I am at my wits end, not knowing if she is still around or moved off.  If anyone can give me any othe suggestions on finding her I would really appreciate it.  Thank you :)Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Sorry to hear that Maggie is missing. Scent the area well and leave smelly food down around where you lost her. Keep going back to where she went missing. Scotties are naturally intelligent and she will go back to where she last saw you. Hope there is good news soon. Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Thinking of Maggie and hoping you have some good news of her return very soon. I will inform the Scottish Terrier Club (England).  I'm sure if you poster everywhere they will bring the call you need.  Stay safe little lady till you are found. xLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Sorry to hear your lovely Maggie is missing.  I will notify STECS (Scottish Terrier Emergency Care Scheme) and also put Maggie's details on www.scottiedoglovers.co.uk.  Please keep going back to the area where you lost Maggie, as dogs do usually return to the place where they were lost.  Also leave something with your scent on in that same area.  I hope you find Maggie very soon, safe and well.  Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Sorry to see Maggie is missing and thank you for registering with DogLost.

Owner, if not already done so you need to contact Dog Wardens, Rescues and Vets. Please try and personally visit Rescue Centres wherever possible, it is not always a good idea to rely solely on telephone calls. Dogs can be rehomed after seven days so this is extremely important.

It is also very important that you poster heavily. You can print your posters by selecting - Dog Poster 1 - above Dog Information. You need to be logged in to do this.

If at all possible please try and keep us updated with regards to who you have contacted and the areas in which you have postered, this can be done by using the + Add a comment feature.

Good luck and we hope to see Maggie back home soonLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18
