Brundog, thanks for the advice below. This spaniel has been followed up and it is back with it's owner apparently. Can anyone remind me what happened to the lab which was running loose on the hills? I recollect someone telling me it had been shot.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

hello, Just a thought, but there is a black lab running wild in Lammermuir hills, east lothian at present who has been running wild for at least 2 nmonths, he was originally running wild with a springer spaniel who was then caught - I wonder what happened to springer ?? it woudl have been around the same time as this dog went missing - It would be worth a call in to the Dog Warden for EAST LOTHIAN.  ( just in case the decorater did have something to do with it ?) hope this helps a little.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Have they checked out the painter's details, his company etc. so they can follow it up and ask if he saw Fergus on the day he went missing?Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

I have again spoken to Mrs Lie today and the only small pointer was that when Fergus went awol there was a Painter from Edinburgh in the are working.  They are now checking the pounds in the Edinburgh area in case they dump Fergus when they realise that he is an 'open space' dog and not a young one at that.  I have sent posters round all my gamekeeping friends and the local shooting fraternity in the hope thay may hear something.  It does seem strange he should go missing when they live so far away from people.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

I have spoken to the owners wife.  The dog is a working dog and is very familiar with the area.  Yesterday morning he took off after a Pheasant and did not come back, which is unusual.  Owners are devasteted and feel some one may have taken him as he is so good natured.  The dog has a red bandage on his right back leg so he is easily recognisable.  Owner sending photo after he finishes work tonight which I will upload.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18
