Hiya Jan   Have tried twice to update the thread on dogslost but it won't let me do it ....shows my user name but not my comments!!!!!   This dog in CDH does look like Missy who is still missing,,, I'll give them a ring and see as she has back toe missing so should be easy to identify.   Thanks very much for letting me know ... will update you as soon as I know anything    Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Hello, I?m pretty and gentle Daisy. Aren?t I a cutie? I?ve been living here in Cheshire for a few weeks now and I?m just recovering from an eye operation, so am now ready to go to my new home. I would need to be rehomed with a Specialist owner. I enjoy being pampered and I am now looking for more permanent accommodation with a family who would show me lots of love and affection and who would take me for long walks in the fresh air. I’m quite a lovable character as am a very good girl who’s settled in very well, however I can be quite nervous so will need a more specialist loving and caring home where plenty of time will be spent to give me confidence. Being a youngster,  I’m very playful and have a passion for playing with my toys. So please take me home with you. I promise I’ll be a good girl.
Love & paws Daisy x If you are interested in rehoming Daisy please contact us on 0844 504 1212 ext 2 for Cheshire.

Posters which have been put up in the areas around Todmorden seem to now be down. Is it worth while taking posters on the top roads. They are well used and a large number of pwopel walk their dogs in the area. Maybe also putting flyers through doors on these high roads. i am happy to do this if you thing it might be worth whikle Mole.  RachelLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

No news from animal home :-(     No phone calls to my number :-( Personally I would think this dog has been shot as she was last seen on an unfenced moor with high sheep and lamb incidence. Apparantley she had a history of chasing sheep (once) but was difficult to get off them. As she was not approachable by the **genuine** person who rang and who saw her in the area this does not bode well for somebody having taken her in.The animal home still think she's been taken in by somebody and that she'll eventually be returned by the microchip. I just wish they'd come on here and see the dogs still missing with microcips in. :-o Anyway lets hope they're right. Rather disappointed by the whole sorry saga personally.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Hi mole,   Sorry to hear you've had problems and hope things are ok now.   I do think it's a real shame that there isnt the expected input from such a large organisation who, after all ,are  ultimately the "owners" of this missing dog - as she was being fostered.  We know Missy is chipped which is great !!  but, as we also know (through experiences of all the other missing dogs -- many of whom are microchipped) we cant just sit back on our laurels and then wait for the chip to bring her home. Many other situations can occur.  Thankfully, you and others are trying to find this girl !  Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

sorry I haven't been on for a while..had problems at home. Last Fri postered cornholme valley inc poster outside Tod High School as kids tend to know things. Also posters in Lydgate PO and Cornholme PO and on lamp posts in this valley. Also on Bacup Rd from Tod and in Coop in Bacup. Dogs last sighting was in the area of Sourhall public house (now closed) she ran away from the person who saw her. She was seen in the morning and then again in the evening..in the morning she had the blue bandana on (as in photo) but had lost it when seen in the evening. This is a big sheep area but farmer who reported her said most are not trigger happy however would depend on whether she was attacking or not obviously. Also farmer said that she rode (horses) all around the hills near where she saw Missy (prob 2 weeks ago now) this includes Blackshawhead hillside, Sourhall, and Bacup hillsides..and she hasn't seen a sign of dog since. On day of sighting her husband went out on quad bike and with their dog (as some dogs will come to other dogs) but didn't see a sign of her. Littleborough area would be a great area to poster.... thank you. Have discounted the rochdale sighting outside asda as dog was supposed to be wearing blue bandana and as genuine sighting at Sourhall didn't have blue bandana and was around the same time as Rochdale "sighting" dog can't be in two places at once. Unfortunately the rspca animal home have not felt it necessary to put an ad in the Tod Advertisers and Hebden Bridge Times ...which to my mind would have been one of the main priorities and I advised them to do this ... but as I'm a volunteer have no say in this. :-( Will update if hear anything else...thank you everybody for trying to help this dog.  Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

I went to poster Cornholme area.   Lilyloo looks like you've been busy :-)) I stuck a few more up in the back streets, then headed further up  put some in pub at "Portsmouth"  then along road, bus stops , and areas up to Holme Chapel, another little place but forgot the name, sorry.  Kettle drum pub said they will put poster up .  I handed out lots of flyers to people walking dogs / doing their gardens. One lady told me about a dog walkers paradise called Hurstwood so headed off up there. Postered the car park, handed more flyers to people walking  couple of dogwalkers were from Todmorden and already aware of Missy, and also another couple who were from Cornholme, so at least people do know., I  put some on lamposts and in shop at Worsthorne ?    Saw a signpost that said only 2 miles to Burnley so covered a bit hopefully. I just hope that we get another notification of a sighting to help. Unfortunately I dont know the area out of Todmorden well. Come on Missy,  give us another sighting. Sorry to hear that Missy is still missing. I live reasonabley near to Cornholme and have printed some posters off which I will put up tomorrow morning. Think its also work walking the moorland in this area and I will try to spend some time this doing this. I am away Saturday afternoon and Sunday but will walk the area from Monday. Mole, can you say where  the farmer exactly saw Missy and if there have been other sightings. This is just to try to establish if there is any pattern. This little girl needs all the help she can get.  Rachel Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Have been and postered the area around sighting today. Which is the hillside between the Tod valley that goes to Burnley (cornholme) and Bacup Rd. Have poster in newsagent in Cornholme and spoke to postman for area. Have put poster in Tod Royal Mail sorting office and Tod station. Am def ignoring Rochdale sighting as this was around same time as this genuine one. Have put posters on bacup RD and in the Coop in Bacup. I will keep in touch with lady who rang me this morning to see if she can help. However lots of sheep around this area of the sighting and very rural with lots of farms. Feel a bit worried as loose dogs at lambing time are not the best thing. Will ring Burnley dog warden, manchester dogs home and bleakholt tomorrow.  Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Have had genuine sighting phoned in this morning from a farmer at OL14 7JE which is above Cornholme (Burnley Road area). Sighting was about a week ago, saw dog in morning when going to work and she was still around in the evening. Would not allow sighter to catch her she ran off. Lots of sheep and lambs around but she was not chasing them and sighter says she hasn't heard of any sheep worrying probs. Nearest places to this is Bacup and Burnley. I am going to discount the Rochdale sighting as I think Rochdale is the wrong area. Will go up today and poster Bacup and Burnley area near to last sighting. When get back will ring burnley dog warden and find out burnley royal mail sorting office.  Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Hi Mole, I meant only  that it's typical !!   ie "sods law" that once you've gone that something occurs. It was only when I got home I saw the post  about the "sighting", but  I didnt manage to  get online until around 9pm myself either -   wish the sighting had been the day before.  Come on Missy, you're out there somewhere !!!!!!  I checked Asda Rochdale on google and seems there is a park nearby which could be a good place to poster if you or any other helpers get chance as probably lots of dog walkers there. Tried ringing to update you  on the Todmorden trip but will try you again.  Helen xx  Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Helen..Didn't get info from rspca of the rochdale "supposed sighting" until late in evening yesterday when I checked my emails otherwise would have rung you. Thanks for all you're doing. Have found out Rochdale Dog Wardens phone number will ring on Tuesday but probably be very busy that day due to being off at Easter. Once I've had a word will go to Rochdale and put posters up in Asda area and try and find the postal sorting office for the area. This will have to be Wednesday.    Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Have been  through today and put more posters up  and given flyers out in  Sowerby Bridge, Mytholmroyd areas but then concentrated more in Todmorden area  -- some were already up, but I was there, so put more about.  lamposts, in the pubs, train station , conservative club , cafes .   Gave lots of flyers out to people walking on the canal paths  and dog owners in general  When headed back put a few more up in Hebden Bridge  including  train station on way home.  If anyone  closer can poster out  in the Rochdale area would be really helpful Hope Missy is found soon and back safelyLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

I have got more info today from rspca. She was chipped to the previous owners but RSPCA staff member has rung petlog and let them know so they are holding RSPCA numbers & staff member's personal mobile number. The one & only sighting has been outside ASDA at Rochdale. The girl who reported it spoke to staff member and they think she was genuine. Some guy had Missy on a skipping rope.
From this info it seems like Rochdale in the area of Asda seems the area to concentrate on. Unless they'd travelled there by car but if he had her on a skipping rope sounds more likely to live in the area.Anybody in Rochdale able to help please. I don't know Rochdale at all. Will post on RDR and ask for help.  Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

I was told by rspca that a lost ad was going in the newspapers this week..originally Evening Courier..don't know whether there was one put in there or not as I don't get it ...as it tends to be more Halifax based. Told them it would be better in Hebden Bridge Times and Tod Advertiser. Nothing in HB Times when I got it! Thanks to everybody who is helping to try and find Missy.  Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

RSPCA have been trying to contact the people who left text message and left phone number but no details of area sighting given which is odd. No-one is answering phone number given. Have texted RSPCA several times for info to date not received any. Am trying to find out who Missy was microchipped to ...RSPCA or previous owner. Put up posters in HB yesterday in RSPCA shop, butchers, Newsagent in Square (paid for as it's on a board in window) Posters were put int Tod last week in Lidl, Morrisons, Post Office and Petshop. Also have a poster taped to the back of my van window. Was going to get posters into HB sorting office yesterday but it was closed bank holiday. Will get posters into Tod and HB sorting offices Tuesday also train station.  Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

If Missy was on the canal towpath ( as per the first reported sighting) then she could have headed EITHER way  if she stuck on the path --  towards Todmorden or towards Halifax.  If this second sighting is genuine and contact can be made with them it would help to help work out which way Missie is heading.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

I've emailed posters to Westmount Vets and asked them to distribute them to their surgeries in HB and Tod, however I won't be physically over there until  next Weds with it being Easter this weekend.  If we get any customers from that area this weekend, however, I'll ask them to put posters up in whaever pleaces they can.
Also have a few friends in HB so have emailed them too, though I know it may be a little distance from where she is, I think the HB people do go to Tod quite often and vice versa.

The supposed sighting was a text message left on an answerphone at RSPCA saying they had seen Missy and giving a number to ring. There was no indication of an area and no one is answering the phone number given. I just feel this sounds as if it could be a hoax. However apparantly Missy did have the blue RSPCA bandana attached to her collar when she went missing. This is the first time I have been told this. Honestly it's like pulling dragon's teeth getting reliable info out of a rescue centre!!! If this is correct she should be even easier to identify. At the moment I would consider we are back to square one and don't know what area she has headed towards. I will continue putting up posters but can't do anything tomorrow would have to be the weekend. Thanks for everybody's help.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Spoke to lady who has registered Missy on Doglost .   She is a volunteer with RSPCA and has been trying to help the foster carer with this.  Missy was a previous cruelty case and then was rehomed for between 1 - 2 yrs approx. but due to a change in the then current owners circumstances (legitimate)   was taken in again by the RSPCA for rehoming. Due to the kennels being modified Missy was placed with a fosterer whilst the works were being carried out ,but is sadly when she has gone missing from the garden .  It is believed she has escaped rather than been taken, and there has been a report of a sighting on/near the canal on the day she went (1st April)  Some posters have been put up and have suggested trying to get some up in the market area/ train station and around the canal towpath.  The lady will also put more posters up around Hebden Bridge area.  MIssy is chipped, spayed and had two tags on her pink collar and is a very distinctive dog so someone must have seen her.  Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Owner - So sorry Missy has gone missing. Your poster can be printed from her page by clicking on DOG POSTER 1 on the left hand side above the dogs details box.You must be logged into do this, Please get as many posters up as you can, immediately, and inform all authorities, Dog Warden, Rescues, Police, and vets in case she has been picked up. It is important that you check with your local pounds every day. Its best to visit in person as dogs can be rehomed after seven days if not claimed Hope she's found soon. Good luck Barbara xLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18
