Paddy it was probably about what happened to make the dog run off...ie sometimes if a dog has been freaked by another dog then we advise helpers not to take their dogs with them....or even if a lead would still have been attached...more about knowing the situation and how to react :-)

i'm a bit puzzled though sheltie lady...what more details were needed? You had a description, precisely where she was lost and had a contact number to talk to the owner...what else was needed? Just curious...:-)

Happy to put this little dog as reunited!!!!  Lovely lad at a nearby garden centre saw her and managed to get her, she is very tired, and has slight cut foot from when she ran off but otherwise fine.  Safely in car now with harness and leads and collars on for the journey.  Thank you sheltie lady and Nicj ones for your offer of help.

Thanks for the update Lyn L - like I said, it has been cross posted on the sheltie forum, but more details were needed.   And , "Paddy ", like I said, the basic details had been cross posted this morning on to sheltie fourms ,etc, but I was asked for more info to help folk spread the word. Obviously, I am not local myself otherwise I would have said that I could help in the search, BUT, I can help spread the word amongst the sheltie fraternity and then we will all be aware , just in case a sheltie is found or gets handed in.   The more people that know, the better.

Nic Jones, have e mailed you. This dog was being transported due to owner illness from breeder in the North down to London.  Escaped when car door opened when stopped for a break.  Couple of sightings but not caught yet.  Have given advice, no photo available but will use similar one very shortly.

what more detail of the circs you need to know? I assume the owner is out there searching, so might not get to read the comments here. You could contact her on the contact number given if you can offer help. I'm sure it would be very welcome. :-)

Gem collected today by Lian so does not know her. Escaped from car 1.30. Sighted with border terrier near bins between 4-5, terrier collected by DW but Gem ran off across fields. Police aware.
