Hi Bev, glad to hear that Della is back home safe & well and enjoying her home comforts again. Please consider getting your dogs microchipped - it only costs ?10 and gives you peace of mind for their lifetime.  If you feel like meeting up with some dog walkers on Eaglestone, we meet at 6pm most nights on the Eaglestone Playing fields.  Dogs range from a Scottie to a Great Dane, so a food mix.  It would be good to meet you.  I will take down the posters in Eaglestone. xLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Bev thanks for the update.  Great Della is settling back home. I did say she would be clingy, that was just how my boy Max was for a good few weeks. Give Della an extra big hug from everyone on DL. Jan xLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Hi Everyone
I just wanted to update you on Della,  She is back to her old self now, a little more clingy though, wont let her dad or i out of her site, which is understandable, four nights in the dark unknown, would have that effect on me.  We are never going to know how she came to dissapear. we were thinking she had been spooked and ran off, but when she came home, she wasnt hungry and was spotlessly clean, so still think she may have been lifted.  Once the advetising made people aware she could have been released .  its a difficult one. The main thing is she is home and none the worse for the experience.
Tha papers contacted us and i gave a statement, they will be doing a follow up this tuesday in the local paper.
I cannot thank everyone enough, I would also like to say we have posterd so many areas that anyone seeing the Della poster could they please remove it. we have been out removing them ourselves but im sure we will have forgotton some places.
I will be dedicating some time to doglost and will be available in my local area to print and put up posters, co-ordinators just contact me if you should need help.

Spoke to Bev tonight, over the moon Della has been found, the family did all the right things and it has paid off.  Della is settling back to being one of the pack and being spoilt rotten.  Great Bev is now going to stay on DL as a helper, who best to give advice, someone who has been there.  Well done again Bev and great to speak to you.  Jan xLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Bev this is just fantastic, thank you to Angus for the text, only just switched phone on as in work.  The account of the reunion is just tear jerking with tears of happiness for Bev and her family and most of all Della.  We tell owners so many times to not be surprised their dog will not recognise them but when the penny drops it is a different story.  Well done to all involved you have worked so hard and got results.  Power to the posters once again.  Welcome home Della you big softie.  Jan x  Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Thankyou everyone for your comments, they brought i lump to my throat, i never knew there were so many careing folk out there.
Della ate all her Brekkie this morning, after a good nights sleep snuggled up with her two best friends an a basket made for one. it was delightfull to watch them all squashed together making the picture whole again. they are little sods but there my little sods and life is definatly not the same without the terrible trio. God Bless you All.  XXX

Bev, this is just the best news to get up to this morning - your article in the Citizen was fantastic, will be great to ring them and tell them that she is home. Once again the key to getting Della home has been extensive postering and boy these owners have done extensive ! Wonderful news that the finder was able to observe Della and grab a poster and Bev to react so quickly and to use the softly softly approach to get her attention. It's going to be one hell of  a party in your house today. I will call you at a sensible time to check how everyone is. Sandie xLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

DELLA IS HOME
I received a call from a lady who lives on fishermead to say she was following my dog, i was postering the area, just up the hill from where she was. Della had been in the bushes near the redway for the last hour or so, the lady recognised her from a poster in eaglestone, so she left della ran accross the main road to eaglestone and grabbed poster and phoned me.  i was there in a couple of minutes. we managed to meet up but della had moved, we saw the tail end of her up the road, she was scared and wouldnt even come to me, my friend had advised me this might happen, also that she would go to ground, as this breed do. we both followed her, and lost sight, then the ladys hubby said she went that way, so i went ahead after her on my own, she was still running away, sufddenly something scared her from the direction she was going, and she turned towards me, i called her and told her it was mummy, several times, and suddenly i got a wagg.  and she ran at me.   she has calmed and relised who i was.  shes not a vocal dog, but she went a little mad, crying a yelping with happiness.  it was very emotional.  she was also pleased to have a stroke from the couple who had found her, after she had been reassured it was ok.
its my grandaughters birthday today,  what a present she will have, when she is told in the morning della is home safe.
Thankyou EVERYONE for all your help. i am so greatfull. you kept me sane, and kept the momentum going.  The newspapers took up the story and we posterd everywhere between us. without this who knows what could of happend to Della. she is very special to us.
I would also like to say to anyone who has lost a dog recently , dont give up, check every lead, poster poster poster it really does get results. i have the proof.
THANKYOU THANKYOU THANKYOU THANKYOU

an update, Della is in the local paper today. I have had two calls one to say she was seen in the coffee hall area, saturday and another to say she was seen walking along the V8 towards the roundabout befor fishermead,  so that would be eaglstone on one side and peartree on the other.  the couple who saw her said a light blue V W was behind them or they would have pulled in, they went to roundabout and drove back down to see if they could get her , but she had gone.  there is a possibility that the VW stopped and took her,  otherwise she may have ran off.
the folk described her well so i think this is a possitive sighting in an area where i havealone.nt had reports of shar-pei being seen this time she was obviously alone.

OK  this may be a false alarm, going to check it out.just spoke with daughter, she tells me there is a sharpei lives in daniels welsh coffee hall and a young guy fitting the discription would be walking it as the dogs owner has just had major surgery. I do know of this dog, so i think we possibly dont have a lead anymore.

Hi There
Thanks everyone for all your help. I just had a phone call from a lady in coffee hall, she says she saw a man with a shar-pei walking towards the coffee hall underpass. there was another man walking with two children walking two staffies.  aparently one was off lead, he called it and put in on and the other guy grabbed the sharpei. Tha lady was very possitive, she gave me details of a guy on coffee hall who had/has a sharpei, she also said she would keep an eye out for the children at the school in case there could be a lead from that. the guy who grabbed the sharpei was white, blond hair, wearing a brown tan coat.  Ive been waiting for a call like this and now head is in a complete muddle, total confusion about what the lady said, as soon as she said she thought it was my dog , everything else seemed to go over my head, i have her name and number, and have left a message for her to get back to me.
My daughter was out till late putting more posters up, one of which this lady saw. so thats good.
My daughter also contacted the citizen and we are due to meet with them at 12 today, they said they may run a story for us. so fingers crossed.   again thankyou everyone for your support. i will keep you posted.    Dellas Mum
Just had a call back from janice, the lady on coffee hall, she confirmed the sharpei was seen at saturday lunchtime. coming through the underpass from beanhill to coffee hall with a guy a lot younger than the one who lives on coffee hall who also may have a sharpei.  she said she couldnt see a collar on the dog, but Della has lose skin round herneck so it may have been hidden, depending on the angle you look at her.

bev........ you are doing everything you can....... the key is to make her too hot to handle. if someone has stolen her they won't be able to sell her on if you can create public awareness...... just keep putting the posters up anywhere they will stick and get an ad in the local paper with a photo. we are all right behind you.keep up the momentum and don't forget to eat... you need to be able to think straight. xxLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Thanks for all your info and help everyone.  theres still no sign of her, I have had folk out all day today, we have put posters up, walked miles calling her and DRIVEN up and down the redways where she went missing, (let them arrest me i dont care) i just want her home in the warm. no leads and no sign of anything, ive contacted vets dog wardens police, ive no idea where she could have gone.  shes done three years of the redways walks, why would she suddenly run away now and get lost? it dont make sence. theres not even been a sighting. i am at the end of a phone day and night, please if anyone hears anything phone me. regards Bev

Owners have had great cooperation from Milton Keynes police, they had the head Police Dog Handler on the case last night and they were able to watch CCTV footage of traffic cameras all around the MK Dons Football Staduim and down towards Asda and the Industrial Estates she was nowhere to been seen on the road networks. I will be doing mini posters and flyers when I get my laptop on the go later. Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

It is possible that the owners may have been observed over a period of time on this late night walk, they were aware of someone possibly with a lorry parked in a laybye on one of the roads that the redways run underneath. I have advised owners to poster the pubs and to get some posters to the MK Bowl before the Giant Sunday Market in the morning, I will email out to the local helpers after lunch.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Hi Everyone, thankyou for any help in advance, im out of my head with worry.  i was out untill 4.30 this morning, absolutly no sign of her.  she does that route every night, last night i wasnt going to take her and changed my mind. she knows her way home from where she went missing. i did notice someone in a layby the first time we did the circuit,  on our way back della run ahead and seemed to be out of sight a while, then popped back all bouncy and happy, she then ran back towards the underpass again and didnt return, its always been a very good place to allow the dogs free time, but theres lots of corners and turnings on the redway we use, its in the middle of the granby asda and lots of other road junctions meet, its a redway system under them all, it it deserted at night apart from other dog walkers you may bump into. but we go late so our dogs can all have a good run.  last night i kept the other two i walked on a lead, one is not good on recall and the other is old and deaf.  i feel im going on here but i really dont know what to say. i just want her back home.

Just had a thought about the 'dogman' who I believe 'lives' at Tinkers Bridge he usually has about 6 or so dogs and a shopping trolley,  - I haven't met him but he did help Liam's owners when he first went missing by the canalLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Requested further info to register Della, have sent advice to owner as was well after midnight and too late to ring.  Photo/s received and uploaded. Circumstances via email from Owner: Della suddenly disappeared round a corner and didnt come back, while on a walk in Beanhill Redway.  Between Beanhill, Netherfield, Redmoor, Granby, asda, and stadium, Ashlands, Tinkers Bridge, any of these places are easily accessable to Della via the Redways she walks,  it unlikely she is on the road as she does not like night lights and is very timid around people she doesnt know, she will not be easy to catch. She does have a bit of a baggy underneath as she lets one of our other dogs suckel her, she is just a great big sofftee, she is larger than the average sharpei, she has a pink bit on her nose, this does change during different seasons. Her collar has a heart tag with our home phone number and also a mobile number but this is now obselete.  She is almost four years old, we have been out all evening and there is no sign of her.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18
