Message from Patsy: Sunday was Polesden Lacey Dog Day (Polesden is our local NT property between Bookham and Dorking, with masses of good dog-walking country). The idea was to encourage local dog walkers to be responsible when walking in the countryside, with NT wardens, tenant farmer, NT staff on hand to answer questions and give advice. There was Kennel Club Bronze Award training and tests and have-a-go agility, plus tenant farmer's livestock, ferets, chickens in pens and owners were encouraged to get their dogs used to be amongst livestock (there has been quite a problem of dogs attacking and chasing sheep on the estate recently). Paula and I were there all day and Jo came along in the afternoon. We had notice board displaying our three local missing dogs (Hugo, Winston and Edmond). Made lots of useful contacts, gave out posters to many local dog walkers (many had heard of Hugo), also to gundog people with lovely rescue Weimeranas, farmers, wardens, sheepdog lady, agility people etc.  Made really useful contact in Nigel Edwards, Vice Chairman & Head of Inspectorate of National Association of Security Dog Users, who showed real interest in the work we do at DogLost and will distribute posters and information among his contacts. He has useful police contacts.  A really nice, non-commercial, fun and informative day and hopefully we have flagged up awareness for our local missing dogs and maybe recruited a few more local helpers. Also met Dylan the Bedlington terrier, who went missing last year from Fetcham and turned up at Ranmore two weeks later! (see reunited pages). And my dog Skipper had a fun day too . . . . . Message from Patsy:
Still busy looking for Edmond when I can and I know DL helper Jo has been busy with the local vets  -  I was pleased to see yesterday that when I dropped into Strood Green vets, near Brockham, they already had a poster displayed. Put another outside on lamp post and gave them a Hugo one too. Postered around Strood Green and Brockham Green area, gave posters to friends in the area and at Charlwood. Another friend (also on DL) has relatives living up on Box Hill who are aware and looking out for him. This Sunday it is Polesden Lacey Dog Day. NT are allowing us to poster event and flag up awareness for local missing dogs, especially Edmond as missing on NT land. Other DL helpers do come along  -  I'll email you more info this evening. Will also call you, Jackie (E's breeder). PxLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Sadly no news of any more sightings. I did evening walks in area of last sighting over weekend and gave flyers to walkers I met, but will get out re-postering this week as will have more time. Am really hoping someone has taken this boy in and will come forward. Have registered Edmond as missing with Network Rail, who will check the line between Dorking and Reigate and am in regular contact with local DW. PxLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Hi copied of E's poster and will v gladly take posters to local Vets here in Horsley and will contact by phone and e mail  other local Vets to Reigate etc  - however,  it would really help if the new owner could list the Vets etc that they have already notified about E!   Please E if you are around join the Easter Bunnies and hop back to Boxhill Tea Rooms - we would all  love to see you safe and well and re-united with those that care for you!   Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Message from Patsy:
I rang Edmond's owners today and spoke to Annie (mother). They have not received any news of sightings since the Sunday before last and are very despondent and close to giving up the search.
I explained that it was still early days, that Edmond may have been taken in by someone and so we need to keep on searching and postering.
By the end of the conversation, we greed that it would be good if local helpers carried on with the search and she thanked us all very much for our help. So, let's keep on postering . . . .  I know that Jackie, Edmond's breeder, has not given up either. So, any DL helpers looking in from other parts of the country, please print off a poster and give to local vets, rescues, pet shops etc. You never know, he may be sitting on someone's sofa the other end of the country by now . . . . I walked for some time around the Boxhill area today, gave out  fliers to ramblers/dog walkers etc.  I very much hope that somebody kind has taken this little chap in, fallen in love with him and is looking after him.....even if it is the wrong thing to do !  It would be nice to know that he is safe.  I can report (to my horror) that baby rabbits are extremely easy to catch ! One of my dogs (a quite small mini schnauzer) took off after one happily hopping about on the lush green slopes of Boxhill. It'll outrun her I thought, but the soppy thing didn't. run. Don't know if it was frozen with fear, I certainly was ! I hurtled down the slope shrieking like a lunatic, poor bunny just lay there I grabbed the dog and scurried off, couldn't bear to look closely, but when I was a distance a way I bravely looked back and it was sitting up looking rather puzzled, but not dead as I'd feared. Poor Abbey hasn't got many teeth, so I was pretty sure she hadn't bitten it but I did think it might have died of fright, I almost did. So the point of all this rambling is I think Edmond, who no doubt has a nice full set of teeth, would be able to feed himself, if necessary, but I hope it isn't.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Message from Patsy:
Walked at dusk at Box Hill Tuesday evening, but no sign of Edmond.
Earlier in the day, gave posters to Crow's Auctioneers in Dorking (behind Dorking Halls) to display at sale preview and sale this week.
Also dropped poster off at Margaret Rose petshop in Fetcham. Received nice long email from Claire, DL helper in Suffolk and friend of E's breeder. Claire suggests that Edmond could have been picked up by someone understanding by now, that he is a quiet well-behaved little dog (even has his Kennel Club Good Citizen Silver award). So this suggests we should really target as many vets, pet shops, dog training classes etc as possible  -  even out of our area. Many people from all over the place visit Box Hill, so he may have been taken out of the area. So many events are on this Easter weekend, so do take posters to display at these. Hi Just got back from Dorking and Boxhill.I dropped into the Spring Fair at Boxhill Village Hall. The Friends of St Andrew?s Church had received the flyers I sent and have distributed them as widely as possible - they also have also very kindly put up a few more posters up at Boxhill including another one at Upper Farm. I will also send E?s poster to two more friends at Boxhill who are happy to do what they can. I picked up about ? the quantity of posters and flyers from the National Trust Shop - thanks Paula and Patsy! Dropped off E?s poster at Muddy Paws just in case they hadn?t got my e mail and Atlee?s in Dorking. Hope to get up to Boxhill sometime tomorrow maybe afternoon - but can make morning if needed. Message from Patsy, Thursday evening:
Thank you for nice messages Claire W!  Good you have become DL helper
-  hope not too many missing dogs in IP area. I see we have been spelling Edmund's name wrong. Sadly no reports of sightings these last
few days. Regarding posters:   I went up to NT shop on Box Hill this
evening and spoke to Peter, joint manager with Rob. Just a misunderstanding  -  Rob hadn't left a message re posters and they couldn't find them under the counter. All sorted now  -  I have left some up there if any DL helpers need to collect. Sorry you had a wasted journey, Jan.  On the way down the hill, I put fresh posters on notice board outside Boxhill village shop and by bus stop opposite.
Then postered Pixham Lane area. Met v. nice people who live in cottages at Riverside, little lane by the Mole off Leslie Road at Pixham, who will keep a special lookout. Postered Friends Provident Playing fields at foot of Box Hill at Pixham. Also gave out flyers to dog walkers at NT Polesden Lacey today. Sadly, no news of any possible sightings . . . . Thank you all for looking for Edmund, especially Patsy who I met when I came to help look for him on Tuesday.   What a wonderful organisation dog lost is.   I can only hope that we find Edmund, he is such a lovely dog and his breeder Jackie is a close friend of mine, in fact I have one of her dogs myself, Clemmie, who was with us on the search for Edmund.    Good luck and again many thanks.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Hi - I have fortunately had better luck than Jan!  Upper Farm Park Estates - I believe are virtually opposite the NT Tea Rooms are thankfully are VERY happy to help - I rang and left a message and they rang back so I am going to send a poster in the post!  Also sending poster to a friend who lives on Headley Heath (not with the cattle!), Crossway Kennels (at last! - sorry it is only now I have got to do that) and Brelades Dorking. I am in Dorking on Saturday doing a Lifeboat collection and could collect more flyers and posters - if needed - please  remind me where? Thanks v much Paula for doing them - I am running out!  If needed - is anything happening on Sunday? Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Got to Boxhill quite early this morning, unfortunately shop not open to get posters. Walked for ages met a school party asked them all to look out but didn't have posters to give them (poo) Only saw two on fence  posts deep in woods on walk.  Went into shop, man there said he knew nothing of posters, I mentioned Rob Patsy. He wasn't there today. Man in shop called up to lady who shouted back, tell her we are not taking any posters, we don't want any more posters put up. Explained as well as I could, to this 'distant voice' that I wanted to take posters not put them up. Lady stomps downstairs face like thunder and tells me if I want a poster I can get the one from the tea place as they have been told to take it down, I can have that if they haven't already thrown it away. We are not to put up any more posters. I said I was only going to hand them out to other dog walkers and wouldn't dream of putting them on trees. Had to leave before I said something I would later regret. No sign of any posters at all around Nt shop or tea place. Passed Headley Heath on my way home and they are creosoting the notice boards so all posters taken down there as well, don't know if they will put them back when the boards are dry, but doubt it. Feeling cross !  Car in garage so can't go anywhere anyway, so even crosser.....Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Have just spoken to David, one of the new owner family  -
unfortunately no news since last sighting on Sunday. David says thank you for all our help. Had a call from Jackie, Edmond's breeder  - she is sending me a photo of Edmond to use on posters instead of library shot. She has also started contacting dogs' homes in case he gets handed in. Good idea. I know that Battersea always contact the breed rescue if a pure-breed is handed in. As mentioned in earlier posts, Edmond is chipped to his breeder. Thank you for going out postering today JanS.  Thank you for all the emailing Jo. Paula tells me she is busy churning out more posters at work . . . Keep safe Edmond. Jo I asked at the Village Hall Boxhill on Tuesday if it was ok to put a poster on their notice board in the entrance and they said yes so I did. Also said it was ok to put one in the car park which I did. So they have got posters there since Tuesday ! Unless some contrary b***er has taken them down !!!!!!  Hoping to get to Boxhill this morning, won't be for long though as car problems mean car got to be in garage by 1 o/c back in Epsom.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Hi  Sorry I think there seems to be some confusion - I have just rung my Uncle re Edmond's 'Fort' sighting - he hadn't heard about this possible Edmond sighting, so I  feel  Edmond's 'Fort' sighting wasn't actually seen by either my cousin or my Uncle  - but  instead maybe one of their customers?!  My Uncle said both he and my cousin would ring me immediately if they personally saw Edmond. Sorry can't help there - if there is anything else on that line I will of course report back ASAP. In the meantime still busy contacting various people!      Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Message from Patsy:
Have left supply of new posters and flyers from Paula at the National Trust Shop on top of Boxhill with manager, Rob, for JanS/Jo to collect. Please take scissors with you to cut up multi-page flyers.
Have not left plastic covers. Put fresh poster by servery hatch at NT tearoom and also postered Old Reigate Road, outside Lower Boxhill Farm and on track up towards Boxhurst. Edmond could easily travel down there as the farm track under the railway is safe from the trains.
Would be warm and cosy in with the cattle in the barn. Didn't poster Haytor Kennels as Jo did so the other day. Sorry, no more time today as off to London now. Thursday and Friday am working at NT Polesden Lacey, so will dish out posters to relevant people there and put on staff notice boards. Will email friends in Mickleham and Westhumble.
Keep safe Edmond and good luck owners . . . .PxLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

not sure Reigate Golf Course worth postering at this stage  -  a bit out of the area unless he was spotted at Reigate Fort. We need to do lots of telegraph poles in Boxhill village, Juniper Hall in Mickleham and the back of Boxhill (White Hill) as a priority. Also Pixham Lane area. I'll get out postering tomorrow evening. Message from Patsy:
Tuesday evening  - went back to Boxhill Tearoom/Lookout area to join Jackie and Claire and their dogs. Handed out fliers to last few remaining locals out walking their dogs and then sat with Jackie and Claire at dusk watching the rabbit fields on the side of Boxhill.
Sadly, no sign of Edmond. Went back to the cars at about 8.00pm and left Jackie and Claire having tea and remains of their picnic. Getting dark now  -  they were planning to search around the NT buildings one last time before heading back to Essex/Suffolk borders. A long day for them and their little dogs, but good that area so well scented now.
They have left more dog bedding smelling of home with me to use for scenting. Important now I think for us to watch this area of Boxhill over the next few days in case scent of his kennel mates lures Edmond out of hiding again. There has been no sighting since Sunday now. But we have met some sympathetic local people today (from Bookham, Betchworth, West Humble and Brockham) who have all taken posters/ flyers and will spread the word. Saw quite a few posters, not in plastic and nailed on to trees. Have put them in plastic covers and fixed to posts. Please don't nail on to trees with big nails  -  the National Trust Wardens are being SO helpful in this search, but it is hard for them as it is their job to look after the trees. Nails damage young trees. It gives Doglost a bad name to poster irresponsibly.
Sorry if this sounds bossy, but we need the NT on-side in our search to find Edmond and bring him home. Am collecting more posters from Paula in the morning, which I shall leave in the NT shop for other helpers to collect if they need them. PxLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Message from Patsy:
It's 5.00pm  -  have been up on Boxhill since lunchtime. Met breeder
(Jackie) and her friend (Claire) with their three Dachsies, a boy and two in-season girls, Lovely little dogs, all related to Edmond. We split up and Jackie and I walked the southern slopes of Boxhill towards Buckland and back and sat and looked and listened for ages in
the scrubby fields   -  a haven for rabbits.  Claire took one of the
girl dogs on the river walk down to the Mole at Westhumble and around that way. Also met new owners (David, his mother in law Annie and her
husband  -  sorry have forgotten name!)   In-laws are the actual new
owners of Edmond and live in Horsham. They patrolled the NT cafe area and then moved on to Petty's Farm at Buckland.  Postered in suitable places on walk (ie NOT TREES, but gateposts). Told wardens about posters and they are all keeping a look out. Today they are working on fencing near tearoom and so can keep a lookout. Have come home to let out my dogs and print off a few more posters and return to Boxhill.
Jackie and Claire are staying till dusk to sit in the rabbit fields with all the dogs. (by the way, David's wife who is part of Edmond's new family,  is also called Claire which may be confusing . . . JanS met her yesterday). Lovely PaulaK has produced lots and lots of new posters and flyers which I shall have for tomorrow. But let's hope we get lucky this evening . . . . PxLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Hi Just got back from Headley and Boxhill (did the same walk as yesterday and handed out posters - again walkers all happy to help). Jan yes I put a poster up in the Main NT Car Park and on the Message Board at Headley Village Shop. Contacted Hillcrest and Roof of the World mobile home communities and left posters - Hillcrest suggested Poster on Telegraph Pole outside - which I have done! Contacted Boxhill Kennels and Cattery and postered through door - also e mailed Haytor Boarding Kennels who have replied back very happy to help. E mailed Hallega Stables (Heath Farm, Church Lane, Headley) and Tumber Livery Stables - Headley. Will watch the DL website to see if other areas I have in mind have been postered - if not will contact them by phone and e mail - will keep you posted on what I have done on the website. Sadly unable to get back to Boxhill and Headley area until Sunday (by then I so hope Edmond will be home safe and well!). Will watch this space - Keep Safe Edmond. Good Luck everyone. Just come back, been walking at Boxhill for hours, gave out all the fliers/posters I had with me, so there are many eyes on the lookout. Met Claire, owners daughter, who had already been told by NT rangers not to put posters on trees. Rangers had taken them she said and told her THEY would put them up where appropriate, hard to tell where that might be 'cos I didn't see any at all.  It would seem as with Hugo fliers are the best way to go.  At the bottom of Box Hill there was a group of NT rangers having a bit of a meeting and I asked them if I could please put a poster on the board, they said no, spaces on there were all spoken for (even the gaps) but I could put one on the side of the notice board which I did. They were very nice and all looked at his picture and said they'd keep a lookout for him. Put poster on notice board in Boxhill village hall and in car park of hall. Outside the shop in Headley and in the 2nd car park at the Heath, had run out by the time I got to the main car park, which is particularly stupid. Hoping Jo has managed to get there today. Otherwise will do so tomorrow (if needed)Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Aiming to walk at Box Hill myself today,  daren't say I AM walking at Box Hill or, as happened yesterday, friends/family will arrive and I'll only get as far as Epsom Downs.  Completely missed the fact that the clocks went forward until woken by a call from visitors to say "we are on our way, be with you soon".  Encouraging that there have been so many regular sightings. Message from Patsy: Walked again at dusk Sunday evening in area of latest sighting (Boxhill tearoom/Lookout area). Masses of people have been visiting as beautiful day. Spoke to NT wardens who had not seen him themselves today, but knew of latest sighting (lunchtime Sunday). Was shocked to see how much picnic mess the day trippers leave behind, but at least plenty of food for Edmond to eat. Sunday's reported sighting was apparently by Signpost No 4 on NT Green Trail  - this is further north than E. has been spotted before, at the top of the chalky track (The
Whites) down the side of Boxhill above Burford Bridge/West Humble. So it may be a good idea to poster Burford Bridge Hotel, Burford Lodge, Juniper Hall etc in case he goes down that valley. Walked along North Downs Way behind Boxhill village and back through valley above Brockham,  but no sign. Cannot do much myself Monday, but will come out if definite sighting. Thank you Jo (UK-J) for all your postering today. Sorry to hear about your daughter Freda. OWNERS PLEASE ALERT DOGLOST IMMEDIATELY IF YOU HEAR OF A SIGHTING SO THAT WE CAN UPDATE THIS PAGE AND ACT QUICKLY. Px

Hi - just got back from Boxhill and Buckland - asked Hand in Hand (Boxhill) and Cowboy Texas Restaurant (Boxhill) and Jolly Farmer (Buckland) to put posters up - all very happy to do so. Also dropped into Buckland Nurseries (my uncle) again and left a small bundle of flyers there. Walked with our dogs from Boxhill Tea Rooms to the Boxhill Fort (by lucky accident rather than judgement!) At Boxhill Fort there seems to be a couple of areas where he could rest including a caged Bat area! Saw another (didn?t look like Dog Lost?s ) one of Edmond?s poster on the ground - so it didn?t blow away I put a stone over it! Handed out small flyers that I managed to do before going - (as yet haven?t received one from Majorjet.) to lots of dog walkers. Went over to the Pfizer roundabout Dorking Road and found Buckland Lane went down there in the car and parked outside house - owner of house happy to put poster up (got dogs themselves) etc and said it was possible in a 4 x 4 to go down the Buckland that way (as we have an old banger didn?t attempt to!). Just received Patsy?s e mail Edmond sighted at Boxhill lookout - that?s GREAT that?s just where I have got back from! I am going to Headley tomorrow - and IF I can I will do a little more postering then. Otherwise VERY sadly tied up for a while. Keep Safe EDMONDLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

I spoke to Patsy yesterday and this liitle dog has made a huge triangle and covering a lot of ground. it would have been great if he had stayed near the stables as that would have been ideal for a place to set a trap but he has moved back towards where lost which i think Patsy said involves crossing a busy road so hopfully he will remain back here- its more open area to cover plus there is loads of rabbits for him to catch so he will not go hungry. As this is local and familiar ground Patsey will be keeping in close contact with owners and keeping an eye on this one so its all in very good experienced hands. CJLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Email posted on behalf of Patsy Did a really long walk with one of my dogs in area of Boxhill sightings yesterday late afternoon until dark from Boxhill NT tearoom right along North Downs to above Buckland and back through the valley below Boxhill behind Boxhill Farm. Wonderful evening, v. peaceful after all the trippers and ramblers had gone home  -  just the NT cattle and masses of rabbits, also pheasants in the woods (so lots to eat!).  So much scrubland on the southern slopes of Boxhill  - perfect cover for a dog on the run to exist quite happily. Saw owner's posters all around NT tearoom area (a bit soggy  -  need plastic covers!). Also saw owner's car in carpark  -  so she was out and about too. Spoke with owners in evening  -  NT warden had seen Edmond at noon Sat. (running on road by tearoom and then darting off back down the Boxhill slope towards Brockham/Buckland direction) so definitely him. Unlikely he could have got to NT Reigate Fort soon after  -   but Boxhill tearoom is also called FORT TEAROOM (v. confusing) so maybe that is where he was sighted?  Am having problem printing out posters (coming out with no copy, just pic) and have asked DL helper Majorjet to please put together new version with more info and email to me. Will get to area again his evening for another long walk at dusk  -   either Boxhill or Buckland depending on sightings today. We had Dachsies when I was a child and one of our ones was lost on Coldharbour for days  -  went quite feral and lived on rabbits. It was freezing cold and wet, middle of winter and he was fine. My mother only caught him by sitting all day in the woods with his brother until he came to her. Have just spoken to DL helper Jo  -  she is out and about to day in the area too and will report back. Keep safe Edmond . . . Px  Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Desperately guilty that I haven't managed to contribute anything to this seach as yet.  Got visitors coming tomorrow, not quite sure what time but will try and get at least to Box Hill at some point. Geography not my strongest point but surely he couldn't have got from there to Reigate Fort in the space of time in which he was seen ? (that question is for Patsy)  Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Please can you put this latest up on Edmond's page for me:
Message from Patsy:
Have just spoken to owners for latest update as follows:  Breeder came
to area of latest sighting (Box Hill tearoom area) yesterday and
searched area with local Mole Valley Dog Warden and one member of
family (grandfather). Other family members unavailable yesterday and
today. Breeder has left blanket smelling of home with DW. Need to get
hold of this to put at Petty's Farm (stables in Buckland where he
keeps going back to). Petty's Farm owner v. helpful and co-operative.
Nat. Trust posters keep getting taken down. Have advised owners not to
poster on trees as will annoy NT wardens. Owners are starting to plot
times and places of alleged sightings on map. Have also advised owners
that it is VERY IMPORTANT to keep Edmond's page up-to-date and act on
reported sightings immediately. If owner cannot get to area, one of DL
helpers will try to. Owner has my number and will call if any
sightings come in. Px
thanks Px

Have just spoken to owner's daughter. This is the latest:  Edmond was
last seen YESTERDAY (FRIDAY) AT APPROX 12.00 NOON back up at BOX HILL
near area from where he ran off originally a week ago. Breeder has
been down with some of Edmond's kennel mates and went up to area with
owner, but no luck. Owner is out till 2.00pm. she will call me to give
more detailed info. Have advised on plotting times and places of
sightings etc. I know the area v. well, so will help as much as I can
this weekend. No need for a trap yet I think. Am v. concerned if he is
crossing busy Pebble Hill road, esp at weekends. Also railway. CJ
please call me to liaise (thank you v. much for your email). Px

UPDATE FROM OWNER   Edmond was spotted at a house near the Quarry yesterday morning about 10.30am, the lady who saw him called out to him and he darted off across a very busy road, thankfully he was ok.  He went off down the North Downs Way bridle path (very popular with dog walkers/ramblers).  Apparently this path eventually leads to Buckland which is where he has been sighted many times and was later spotted at the farm house that he has been back to several times.  Trying to locate nearest trap in case needed. Have emailed poster/phoned friends and contacts in the area. Sorry, cannot do much today as working. Do hope Edmond sticks around the stables. If breeder comes down, can she bring some familiar-smelling bedding/blankets to put in safe area? Good luck owners . . . PxLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

update email from owner the stables area sounds promising- maybe could even use a trap now. I have replied direct back to owner. Hi Jane   Update on  Edmond -  Went back to the area again today.  Did a leaflet drop to most houses around there plus put posters up.  About 6 or 7 people have seen him in the last few days but no one we spoke to had seen him today.   Someone who was aware of him missing who lives in that area was out jogging yesterday and called us to say he had seen a dog up by the Quarry near Betchworth station, he wasn't sure what breed of dog it was though.  We went there today and it is some way from where he had previously been.  We were despondent as we thought he had moved into a new area.    However, have just received a phone call from one of the houses he has gone back to a few times and they said he has been back there again today.  The house owner is going to leave food etc out but not call him or make eye contact with him incase he runs off.  She has stables and Edmond has been seen with the horses so she is going to leave blanket and food in the stables at night.  Still not sure how to get him though - but maybe eventually he might feel less frightened? Will keep you posted.   Regards David

I am so sorry I wsn't able to get to the sighting yesterday and I don't think there is any way I can do so today. Do hope that other helpers and owners will be able to and be successful in rounding up this little chap. Will get that way tomorrow if he is still on the run, lets hope it won't be neccesary.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Message from Patsy:
Have just spoke to owners. There have been sightings in the Rectory Lane area of Buckland, on Kemps Farm and Petty's Farm land. Locals are aware and have been warned not to try and catch him but to call owners immediately. He is hanging round farm with ducks and horses, but is v.
shy. Owner is going to ask previous owner (breeder) to come down and help catch him (or to send bottles of exciting smells for scenting area of sighting).  Have given owner advice on not making eye contact etc etc. We have to move quickly as the Dorking to Reigate railway runs through this valley and there is an unmanned crossing at Rectory Lane and footpath crossings over the line in the fields. Edmond has lived with 7 other dogs and seems to be seeking company of other animals. He is also v. scared of noises so hopefully this will keep him away from the railway line. If anyone sees him, please do not call his name  -  he will just bolt off again. I'm busy till later today, but will go up to area of sighting this evening. PxLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Posted on behalf of Patsy: Have at last made contact with owners. This what happened:  Edmond is a new dog, they had only had him one day so he does not know the area at all (he had come down to his new home from his breeder in Colchester).  Edmond ran off behind the National Trust Tea Room at the top of Box Hill, possibly down the hill in West Humble direction.
Owners have put up their own posters in the area, NT Tea Room staff are aware, Mole Valley, Epsom & Ewell and Reigate dog wardens have been informed. He is microchipped to his previous owner (breeder, who is aware of the situation). New owners do not have a photograph of
him, so Admin please can we use a library shot of black/tan mini Dachshund to get posters out ASAP?  Maybe breeder could email a picture? As soon as pic available we can all get postering . . . .  Have advised owner to contact as many local vets as possible. Also to email letter to the editor to catch copy date for this week's Dorking Advertiser. Dog is v. nervous and frightened and so may have gone to ground.
Will email his details to friends in the area. Keep safe Edmond . . .

Owner - Sorry that Edmond has gone missing. Thank you for registering him on Doglost but we do need a photo and more details as soon as possible. Could you email admin@doglost.co.uk with a photo and also give us details of Edmond's breed, coat type, and length, and his tail. Once a photo is received and uploaded you will be able to print posters from the page by clicking on DOG POSTER 1 above the dogs detail boxes, left hand side. Please inform your council Dog warden, police, rescue centres and vets and do ring the dog pounds every day as dogs can be re-homed after only seven days if unclaimed. Even though microchipped, the chips do get missed so please do not wait for the authorities to ring you. Hope yo receive the deatails and photo soon. Posters need to go up immediately. Good Luck.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18
