Sadly I have to report that Golly has been found deceased 💔
Many thanks to everyone who helped search for the brave boy.
Condolences to the family and all those who knew him.

Further to Owl's comment of 2022-03-20 12:36 I have an update from the tracking. I have replaced the extra image above with the image from the tracking and the approximate corresponding image from Google maps showing the path taken in yellow (clear cache/browsing history to view).
I have been advised that the tracker dog showed interest at two points leading down a steep bank to the river.

Golly went missing from the door step of his home which is in a built up area so not sure if a drone would help. Thank you all for your kindness.
I have had a man claiming he has him and wanting to ‘do a deal’ . I don’t believe him and I am not giving him any information. He withheld his number.

Golly, is posted onto Drone SAR, Pilots and ground searchers have been made aware. We are still waiting for owner contact or person acting on their behalf with more information. With this being a built up area it may not be possible to fly drones in this area.

Owl - thank you for alerting your friend with tracker dog.
Jayne - owner's son's post has been shared to Drone SAR but not aware if a pilot is available/assigned.
I advised searching along banks on nearby River Tavy and large cemetery to south east of point of loss (oppostie Texaco garage).

Go on line and check wind directions over the last few days as Golly being blind and deaf will be using his sense of smell...so will be heading into the wind which carries the scent...It does get complex if wind direction changing ...also most dogs will go down rather than up ( unsure of local terrain) as instinctively they know water is at lower level...but again if it has been raining this may not apply so much as will have a ready source of water...have you contacted Drone SAR on FB as they maybe able to assist with local drone pilots.

Looking at the aerial view, the point of loss is bracketed by the River Tavy to the west and the A386 to the east. Given his age and health issues, I'm thinking it's probably unlikely that Golly would have tried to cross either of these natural barriers.

The area immediately surrounding the point of loss (between the road and the river) is all residential gardens with trees and bushes. Have ground searchers already covered this area?

Myself and others have given advice to owner's son via Tavistock Parish FB group.
Have asked lister if any of our similar dog photos resemble Golly along with a selected image from Pixabay (free stock photography and royalty-free stock media website).
