Tracey i am so sorry to hear.  You did absolutely everything you could for him and my thoughts are with you.  Best wishes xxxxLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Tracey wants to thank everyone for their support and help. I have found a poem for her. Tracey this comes with my love On your grave beneath the chestnut bough, Today no fragrance fills the air.  Only a masters love who laid you there. Perchance may warm the air 'neath which you drowse, in dreams from which no meal time may arouse. Unwakeable, though close the rats may dare, Deaf, though the rabbit thump in playful scare.  Silent though twenty foxes screech their vows. And yet mayhap. some night when shadows pass, and from the fir the brown owl hoots on high. That should one whistle 'neath a favouring star, your shade shall canter over the grass, Questing for him you loved in days gone by. Ere death the dog thief , carried you afar.  Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Ive just heard from Tracey, Charlies owner, that very sadly his body was discovered earlier today by the edge of a railway line, he had been hit by a train, and the railway workers had contacted her as he had a disc on. This is such sad news. Tracey is devastated . She worked incredibly hard to find him, and with such a sad outcome its heartbreaking.  Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Charlie's owner is doing a fantastic job - we have just spoken and I have now had a chat to the Robinswood County Park Warden (Derek) who also saw Charlie about mid afternoon on Friday running along Reservoir Road from the direction of the chip shop towards the main gates to the park.  He was running quite fast and too quick to catch.  Also spoke to the Wildlife Trust Centre on Robinswood Hill and they are now aware of Charlie and have seen the poster on the gate, and have Charlie's owner's number to hand.  Have let the farm in Court Farm Whaddon know and emailed them a poster and also spoke to Homestead Farm Matson (motorway side of the Hill).   Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Well done Tray and Mollychops ?you have done loads!!     Charlie will probably get picked up and taken to the pound so check in regularly and try to get someone to go in person.Teckles has been informed by Mollychops .   Someone may have taken him in and will need to see a poster before making contact.   It is possible for a dog to run for miles until he stops being scared so poster far and wide get media attention etc.   They can eventually double back to where he ran off so please do scenting there I can send details?)hand if not too far from home make his way home eventually ?I know it is a lot to consider but the main thing is the POSTERS and CHECK THE POUND and please your mobile number as the helpers will download from this site.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Just spoke to Charlies owner. As yet no sightings. There has been a mention on the local radio station and he will also be in the local paper. Charlie has also been put on the Glos councils internal site which will reach a huge variety of their workers  ie binmen ,social workers etc  people who are out and about in all areas. That is such a great idea Tray, you are doing all the right things. Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Hi Tray, you are doing good. All the right avenues! A large lurcher can cover the ground so widen the postered area if you can .  All farmers and landowners in an increasing circle. The yellow pages will have a list of farmers. Try gamekeepers, local Hunts, these will be the Ledbury and the Cotswold Vale I think. Their terrierman always seem to know whats about so try and get their numbers .Keep up the good workLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

In my last comment I said that there were no tracks leading down on to the railway, however I forgot to add that when I looked over the railway bridge you could see paw prints in the snow on the actual tracks. I'm very worried. We have contacted the transport police who have informed us that there have been no reports from drivers to say that there were any animals on the tack and I have been assured by them that the drivers have a duty to report anything that is on the line because of safety. This did make me feel a little better and gave me a bit more hope!Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

I'm Tray, Charlie's owner. On Friday 06.02.09. I was walking Charlie up on Robinswood hill. Like recorded he was spooked by a sledge coming at him and he ran. I called him but he wouldn't come back. He ran down the hill on to reservior road. As I went down the hill after him I asked people if they had seen him and a couple walking a German Shepherd told me that they had seen him running toward the stroud Road, St Barnabas roundabout. I went back home, to see if he was there, he was not. I then drove in the direction that the couple told me he went in. There are 4 exits on that roundabout. I took the one to Stroud and asked some people who were clearing snow from drives if they had seen him, they hadn't. I decided to turn back and go back to the Stroud Road. I saw another couple walking across the railway bridge and asked them if they had seen him. They informed me that they had seen a dog on the railway tracks below running toward Gloucester. I went to the next bridge to see if I could see him but there was no sign. I called him till I was hoarse! My friends and neighbours went out searching for him about half an hour later. i was informed that he was seen by a lady who lives in St Barnabas Close. She tried to grab him as she could see that he was a stray but he moved to quick and ran off she did not see where he went. That was the last known sighting of him as it is not confirmed that the dog on the tracks was him. How ever I met with the lady that evening and it is possible that he could have gone down on the railway from where she saw him but she did not know how as it is fenced. I could not see any footprints in the snow of a dog going on to the track side. I have been out all weekend looking for him. My friends and I have in total put up approximately 90 posters so far. in all directions. I keep going back up the hill and calling him. I know most of the dog walkers who go up the hill and have let as many people as possible know about him. I just want my boy back!Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

I have spoken to a close friend of Charlies Owner. They have been out searching  and postering many many places since Charlie disapeared on Friday. Robinswood hill is an area Charlie knows very well he lives on it and is walked there every day. H e was hit by a sledger in the snow, and bolted in fear out of the area, and got him self lost. He was last sighted a bit later on the Stroud Rd . Ive asked owner to post exactly where. She has contacted Police who didnt want to know, the Dog wardens  will be contacted tomorrow after the weekend., local farmers vets dog rescues, Cheltenham and Teckels, also RSPCA. He is chipped and tagged which gives great hope. Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

I called a friend who knows a couple of dog walkers in the Robinswood  hill area, thry will keep an eye open. Cant stress the importance of postering enough. Poster every where you can think of locally especially public places, shops ,pubs, community centres, churches, schools, dog training/agility clubs. Also ask the l ocal postman to tell his mates and spread the word. Check if there are any kind of running clubs that use the hill , they could look for you. Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

It looks like quite an isolated, rural area, if he has had a fright he might be hiding up in a barn , so check with all local farmers in the area, get them to check outbuildings, also keep returning to the spot Charlie disapeared from, as dogs generally go back to this area where they last saw you. Put some clothing or bedding down anything that smells of home. Show yourself Charlie its too cold atm for this, xLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18
