Brilliant idea! I will ask them if they have any advice.
I am getting a laminator and going to go to Essex to find Treacle during this week. But she should be back anyway, she told me in my head she is coming home very very soon!

Both owner and myself are contacting as much media as possible. Papers have been phoned emailed plus an advert in now on gumtree http://www.gumtree.com/london/98/35342298.html Hoping that the story is taken on by a national or at least a paper local to this area. If we can keep this story in high profile then someone has got to recognise this woman or Treacle and phone with information.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

The met police only have a christian name and mobile number and have spoken to this woman and given her the chance to take the dog to a rescue. She has since failed to do so. Previously Treacles owner did not want to press charges - just wanted her dog back- but now has decided enough is enough and will be pressing charges for theft. Mobiles cannot always be traced- it depends a lot on the type of useage- where bought etc esp if bought over the net etc .I have emailed a few papers to try and get a story in there but no response. If any one has any good media contacts please let me know- it could greatly help if a story was printed in a major paper.  CJLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Fly: i think she was supposed to take her to a shelter because she claimed i was mistreating Treacle. which is a lie! so if she had taken Treacle to a shelter they would have seen she was a great happy girl in excellent form, scanned her & given her back to me. but this lady didn't do as she said she would...

I think I am not understanding this case at all, am I right in thinking Police know who has Treacle, they and Treacles owner know her mobile number, there is a description of her, so why can't she be traced and the dog taken from her???????? Mobiles can be traced even if they are switched off. Why would police make a deal with her to take the dog to a third party?Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Thanks Lainey that would be great!!  just to confirm the new picture shows treacles owner with as she describes @silly red hair'' the woman who stole treacle has more natuarl head dyed hair with is long and curly. Treacle has also gone in countrymans weekley . Treacle is chipped so hope that any vets in the area will scan any matching dogs.   We have given a second name to police of someone who knows this woman and he has phoned her and left a mesage to get back. hoping that pressure form another source via the met police will bring this woman to her senses.   lets do all we can to bring attebntion to this dog as owner needs our help as much as possible.    Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Another approach, and probably the one I would use in your position, is just to sit in a car outside the address, and when she emerges, just approach and relieve her of your dog. Sounds simple, and I realise that there must be another element to this story to which I am not party for this not to have happened already.  I assume there is a risk of some kind?Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

It seems to me that the police are procrastinating.  When our pups were missing and we thought we had located them, the police actually went in, confiscated the pups and arrested the people at the address.  Yes, we had put enormous pressure on them, but our story demonstrates that this action is possible. Think about it.  Your dog (your property) has been stolen and you know where she is.  The police appear to have established the thief's involvement.  Why are they waiting?? Try to find a sympathetic journalist.  Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

This dog is still being held by the theif despite instructions from the police to take Treacle to a kennels. I am awaiting a call back from the met as regards legally what we can do to get this dog back. i want to name and shame this woman who has the dog but I have to be certain we are within the law- even if she is not. Failing that im hoping to contact media as they seem to be able to mention names with no problem. The chances are Treacle could be in the chelmford area so if you spot a lurcher like Treacle being walked by a woman with red dyed curley hair please let us know.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Hi Treaclepretzel - I really feel for you, but just keep going - doing what you are doing. Phoning the vets was very sensible and productive so hopefully you have that covered, but there are loads in Chelmsford area. Did you go onto the FIND ANY UK VET button under our flashing photo box? You can get all the vets for each county there. Try the newspapers next. Use google to find all local papers in different areas and counties, and ring the newsdesk. They will take stories over the phone and you can email Treacles photo to them. The Essex Chronicle is a good paper and covers a wide area, and there must be loads that are just as good. The more places you get the poster and the photo, the more chance you have. Make her too hot to handle, and you will feel better, and that you are doing something. Good on you. You will get her back that way x  Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Ok Treaclepretzel - besides Cambs then we will get as many posters up in Chelmsford area as we can. Will put posters out to all contacts, and if you can get as much publicity as possible via radio and newspaper coverage it would be a good idea. You need to make her too hot to handle, and so well known that everyone knows what she looks like. Notify all vets, and Dog wardens in the area.Dog warden details will be on the council website. Good luck - we will all help you all we can. We know its difficult for you not being in the area. Any helpers in chelmsford area that can put posters up, please email admin@doglost.co.uk for Treacle's STOLEN poster. Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Thank you so much for your help!
Apparently she is in Chelmsford...
I can't live like this.
I think the police are doing something. I have to contact them again tomorrow to see if they tracked her down. The victim supoort unit said something about serving papers.
The police spoke with her woman already and told her to return the dog to a shelter. She said she would on more than one occasion but didn't.
There is another person involved who said they spoke to her and she said the dog isn't there but they thought that was a lie.
If anyone wants the phone number for the police who are handling it or this woman, let me know.
I don't know what to do!!!
I was hoping that once the police had her address they would just go and get the dog, I don't understand ths "serving papers" thing. She was already given the chane to cooperate by the police and everybody.
Just need Treacle back, I miss her so much.
Thank you so much everybody, take care.

Treacle I miss you so much my little monkey girl!
Treacle was stolen by a woman. I now have a crime report. The police spoke with the woman and she hung up on them when told to return Treacle.
She took her all the way to Cambridgeshire apparently, but it could be a lie... Treacle was in London.
I hope they can track her from her mobile number and get Treacle back. I am losing my mind.
