Wonderful to read this. Good on you Bertie.

Thank you Gatsby for this lovely uplifting news, now Bertie carry on getting better and enjoy your new playmate. Happy Christmas everybody.
Bo
Great update and so pleased he’s managed to keep his leg so far. It’s a wonderful result and a credit to both his spirit and his fitness.
Gatsby
Bertie is doing well. He steals my slippers again to get additional treats, is eating a meal every 2 hours to put on weight and has his little physio sessions every day to build his muscle strength and help his healing wound. He is definitely not 75% Bertie he is the full Bertie and will soon be back to his usual weight at this rate.
We spend lots of quality time with him on the sofa and he also has a new 3 month old cocker spaniel puppy to play with when Bertie is fully recovered............long story but one that is working out really well given they get on remarkably.............I just have to manage the activity carefully. By the end of the day I'm the one on all fours crawling to bed!! Speaks volumes and all positive!

I am so glad that Bertie has been found, with what he has already gone through even if his leg cannot be saved, he will survive - that is what he is, a survivor
Bo
What an amazing dog to not give up, he must have had 100% belief you’d find him and hung on to life. I hope the leg is saved - his tenacity is incredible.
Gatsby
Sorry not to have got to this before but yes Bertie found after 10 days hanging by his back leg on a wire fence from which our oh so kind neighbours (half a mile up the road from us) managed to free him. Was 15 plus kgs now just on 10kgs. He will live but haul now to save his back leg. Thanks all for such good natured help and boundless support. I shall be having a stern finger wagging word with him.......he will doubtless wag his tail as he did earlier today.😉🤞👍🙏👏👏

wrote again and insisted with detailed efforts and now have crime numberLast edited: 2020-12-09 09:31:42 by Gatsby
Gatsby
Sussex Police will not issue a CRN because ‘ there is no proof he has been stolen’ !!!
DogLostJayne - Founder Doglost.
Please send CRN number to stolen@doglost.co.uk along with ID we can then list as stolen and have our police liasons involved to help.
Gatsby
We have been overwhelmed by advice and help from the community both far and wide as well as friends and neighbours; and have been following this through methodically.
Gatsby
Latest advice to us is that Bertie is likely to have been stolen. He has been castrated but is still a particularly lovely dog. It is completely uncharacteristic of him to completely disappear for this length of time, Usually he is back within 6 hours on the rare occasions he has absconded.
DogLostNina
Contact schools and colleges and offer a reward towards school funds/ Put posters in/on cars, bus stops, poo bins and taxi firms. Put posters in red mail boxes for postmen to take back to the sorting offices. Try leaving a trail of your urine on a safe route for Bertie to follow back home, if it rains you will have to do it again
Gatsby
Ps. It’s Lesley & it was food left out... Hope you managed to interpret the typos
Gatsby
We have had nil sightings of Bertie. He has absented himself in the past but never for more than 4-5 hours & the last occasion while walking was over a year ago. Facebook is covered with it and locals have been looking for him ever since. A drone was used on Sat. Should we now assume he has been stolen opportunistically? We do jog know what to do next and are exhausted as well as devastated.... We have left good out etc- untouched. Please advise .... Ledley & Peter- his owners...
