Any further news on Cassie. Wondering if all vets in the area have been notified with a photo of Cassie.  Its worth letter vets in the whole of West/North Yorkshire know and also keeping in regular contact with the recsue centres.   RachelLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

There is a council travelllers site in Esholt, and there seems to be an illegal (?) one in the centre of Bradford by Foster Square retail park at the moment. The council should know where they all are, legal and otherwise.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

I don't know the gypsy liaison officer, but there is probably a contact via Bradford Council.
Bradford Community Radio would be good to contact - they're near Rawson Market in Bradford, and though they don't have a big audience, it seems to be listened to by people who know people etc, so word may get around that way.
It's probably worth putting a follow up letter in the Keighley News (Letters to the Editor) along the lines of "no news yet, but please keep looking".

Had a phone call today regarding Cassie, she belongs to a friend of a friend, have just spoken to Cassies owner, and advised her to contact her local gypsy liason officer, and to poster outside of the gypsy camps, dose anyone in that area know where the camps are, she is also going to contact the local radio stations to see if they will give Cassie a mention, and also said to monitor any sheepdog sales in the area, this is the second time someone has been to the property to steal diesel, so must be someone fairly local I would think.  Good luck on finding Cassie, keep in touchLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Handed out flyers and postered at Ogden Water today - think it's worth targetting dog-walking hotspots. Also mentioned to everyone about tail as it's a good feature for people to look out for - is it v obvious? Have local pubs been postered? May be worth it with her being stolen - people talk ... Sorry won't be able to help over w/e as away but will help after if she's not turned up. Owners please keep positive - lots do turn up somewhere & not straight away. (Last one i helped with after at least 2 wks, through postering and a bit of luck - it does happen.) xLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

I've put full description and details with photo on the following websites: http://www.freewebs.com/travellingtearaways/rescueme.htm and http://www.freewebs.com/bessamour/rescueme.htm and http://www.flyball.org.uk/webboard/messages/1242/12344.html?1228224109 and cross posted to various doggy lists asking for everything to be cross posted to as many lists/people as possible.  If people have blogs and websites, maybe you could put Cassie's details and photo on there as well? I hope that she is found very soon. Fingers and paws crossed.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

That's a good idea, Rachel.  Our postman comes in a van and goes to farms etc,  so I will print off a poster to give him.

I have downloaded posters  and will put them up in the Hebden Bridge area and over  oxenhope moor. Let me know if there is anywhere else in this vacinity which needs doing. Its useful to give a flyer to your local postman as tarvel around and see more than most.  RachelLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

The phone number for the Keighley News is 01535 606611.  They have done quite a few "injured" animal stories recently - cats which have been shot with an airgun, caught in a trap etc, so may well be sympathetic.  Try Miran or Lisa on the News Desk.  The same number for lost and found - the deadline for Thursday's paper is Tuesday lunchtime I think - well worth putting an ad in there.
I'm sure you've asked Gatehouse Vets in Haworth to put a poster up, there is a new pets' supplies shop nearby, I think on Victoria Street - they may be sympathetic as may many of the shop owners on Main Street.
There are a lot of things hppening in Haworth over the next few weekends as I'm sure you're aware, so again, lots of posters in case she's dumped.
Fleet kennels at Queensbury (sorry, don't have number to hand) are often where strays are taken, so worth going up there every couple of days.  I think the RSPCA have a place up at Long Lee - I think it's called "The Dog House" but I haven't been able to find out much about this.  Worth phoning them on Monday to find out.  They have a branch at Mount Street Bradford.
It is also probably worth postering at the vets in Keighley, Shipley, Skipton and even over the moors at Hebden Bridge, just in case she is sold on,
If I think of anything else, I'll post it.  We have a poster in our office but we don't get a huge through-put.
Please come back each day and tell us where you've postered etc.

Poster in the local vets as well as local shops, the takeaways and taxi offices. Make sure you report it to the police and obtain a crime number (in case there is any dispute about ownership later). The T&A have a lost and found section, and I'm sure the Keighley News will have, so worth getting a notice in about her. I know the T&A won't put items in about stolen dogs but Keighley News might do. Is there any cctv that could be useful? I'll get posters in the vets in Shipley, Wilsden and Bingley, and Pets at home in Bradford and Jolleys in Keighley. Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

I have asked for another mod to alter the region Sara as I am away from home at present and cant use the facilty to do this myself on the laptop I am borrowing here.
Owners you need to poster, poster, poster as much as you can to raise as much public awareness as you possible. Also make sure all local dog wardens, vets and stray kennels have her details. By law stray kennels only have to keep a dog for 7 days before rehoming or sending them on to a rescue. For this reason it is very important that you try and visit them in person to make sure your dog is not there. You CANNOT rely on them to contact you ! I hope you have some news of her very soon xx Pam

Can we have some more information - whereabouts in Keighley?  Was the dog definitely stolen or was it a house burglary and she may have got out?  Will display poster and alert contacts etc in the area.
